 And it was official. Sayha thought she lost her mind... Or at least part of it. And maybe she didn’t lose it. After all, she had thought about it before so it wasn’t a spur of the moment idea… nor was it like when she switched her crafting subclass.
Sayha had officially switched from Tracker to Animal Trainer... which was both a good and bad thing for her. It was good because she had a thought in her mind for a while about having a certain companion to travel with… and she was pretty sure the companion would agree to join her. The downside of switching to Animal Trainer at that point was that Sayha would lose her Tracker abilities… the most common one she used being <Silent Move>. However despite being kind of reliant on the ability, Sayha had learned how to move more quietly even without the ability. Hopefully it wouldn’t set her back too horribly.
Sayha refocused her thoughts on the surroundings, bringing her mind back to the present. It was early in the morning, and the sun was barely peaking above the horizon. Sayha was sitting on the roof of her home, Kurokage, out in Moon Dance Forest. She was dressed in what she normally wore minus the coat… though it was laying on the roof next to her.
Even though Sayha disliked the cold, she sat there in silence, taking in the brisk weather. It was the beginning of the New Year, and Sayha wasn’t quite sure how to feel. Usually, this was the time when resolutions were set and goals were put up to be made for later in the year. Sayha didn’t get the point of resolutions as barely anyone followed through on them. As for goals? She wasn’t exactly sure on specifics… she did want to get closer to Hiro, her boyfriend… maybe she would go back to exploring… though one thing she definitely had planned was that she would hit level 90 that year. There was no stopping that… except maybe herself and her distractions on leveling her subclasses.
That day, Sayha had some plans on working Animal Trainer… which could be rather interesting. It was still Snowfell despite it being past Christmas, and Moon Dance Forest was having some sort of contest. From what she could tell, it was mostly a child’s contest but many adults partook in it as well. Sayha wasn’t planning on participating per se… but rather observing.
Now that Sayha was quite cold, she stood up on the roof, shrugging her coat over her shoulders. After checking to make sure <Hearing Aptitude> and <Tongue of Nature> were activated, she zipped and buttoned up her coat before jumping off the roof and took the winding path to the Village.

It was a decent trek from Kurokage to the village, but Sayha didn’t mind at all. She intentionally wanted her home to be further out from the village than say Hiro’s. She wanted the seclusion. If she wanted to deal with people, she would just head into the Village or head into Londinium. For a while, she had thought about buying a flat in Londinium but decided against it for the time being since she had a room at Buckingham Palace she could stay in.
After the winding trail to the Village, Sayha walked through the roads, staying off to the side. The children of the village were out and running around, and there was a lot of activity. The Moonrise Festival was getting started within the next day or so, and Sayha was looking forward to it.
For the time being, Sayha found a place along the outside of a group that was forming. The event Sayha was going to be observing was about to begin.
The person in front of the crowd spoke and began to explain what the contest was, and it was pretty straight forward. There were monsters Snow Chickens that were running around. The goal was to catch as many as they possibly could. Sounded easy enough… at least in theory. Sayha had been asked by one of the villages a few days ago to keep an eye on the event to help out, which she had agreed.
Once the person finished speaking, they began to countdown. Five… four… three… two… one… and everyone was off. There was laughing and clapping as everyone went their separate ways. Sayha would catch up to them in a bit... in the meantime, she was going to hang out in the village and wait.

After a few minutes, Sayha left the village and began her job… which was probably pretty boring overall. However to make the job more interesting, she decided to work on her Animal Training as well… which would either be really bad or really funny.
Sayha left the village via tree branches, activating <Hiding Entry>. Once she was out of sight, she jumped from branch to branch until she found what she was looking for. It was a Snow Chicken, pecking at the ground.
With <Tongue of Nature> activated, Sayha sat there, trying to figure out what the Chicken was saying… which was a tad bit difficult because she hadn’t really used the ability before. It was like <Hearing Aptitude> all over again.
“Food, search, bawk,” Sayha heard the chicken squawked, “Need food, need hide.”
Sayha watched as the chicken moved over to a bush and began pecking at the ground once more… then she heard leaves rustle in the background. Someone or something was coming, and they were making no effort to hide their movements. She adjusted her position on the tree branch, making a minimal amount of movements, and watched.
There were a few kids, two boys and a girl… no wait, two girls… though the one at the back of the pack seemed to not fit in. The two boys, as soon as they saw the Snow Chicken, ran after it. The chicken was alerted to their presence and ran away, but the boys were faster. They and the first girl laughed.
“And now we have five!” one of the boys announced.
“We’ll win this for sure!” the other boy clapped.
“Let’s take this one back to the elders and keep going,” the first girl said.
“Why can’t I join you guys? I can help,” the second girl finally caught up to them.
“Why would we want you?” the second boy rolled his eyes, “We already have a perfect team as it is. Besides, you’re not from here; you don’t know the forest like we do.”
The group then laughed and headed back to the village, leaving the girl alone. She looked rather defeated, but quickly shook her head and headed back into the forest.

The girl seemed to be determined, Sayha had to give here credit for that… and something about that exchange just didn’t sit right with her. Even though she was supposed to be just and observer, Sayha thought of something she could do… but she wasn’t sure how it would work out… though there was only one way to find out.
Sayha began to branch jump through the trees again until she found another Snow Chicken. This time though once she found it, she made sure no one was in the vicinity with her <Hearing Aptitude>. Then, Sayha deactivated <Hiding Entry> and jumped down from her tree.
“Hey there,” Sayha said, crouching down near the chicken.
The chicken looked up at her curiously, “Who you? What want?”
“I’m Sayha,” she responded, “and I need your help.”
“Me no want to be food,” it responded, flapping its wings.
“I don’t want you to be food.”
“You no want me food?”
“No.”
“What you want help?”
“I want to help one of the girls in the forest.”
“Girls in forest hunting us. Boys hunting us. Why help girl who hunts us?”
“If you help the girl, I’ll give you chicken feed,” Sayha responded. She knew of a vender back in the Village that sold those kinds of supplies. It wouldn’t be hard for her to buy some and keep her word.
“You give food if chicken help?”
“Yes.”
“How chicken help girl?”
“Find the other chickens and tell them to go to the girl that isn’t from the Village. She has braided hair,” Sayha recalled her appearance so that the chicken would be able to find her. Up in her interface, the <Scout> buff appeared, and Sayha knew that it had worked.

Sayha left the chicken that she had Scouted and returned to the Village, buying a small back of chicken feed. After putting the feed in her inventory, Sayha returned to the forest, jumping from branch to branch, keeping an eye out on the event. Everything seemed to be in order, and Sayha returned back to the meeting spot when it was the right time.
“Anything out of the ordinary?” one of the villagers in charge of the contest asked Sayha as she approached.
Sayha shook her head, “No, nothing that I could tell.”
The villager nodded and her, and Sayha moved into the crowd to watch the counting of the chickens. As they were counted, they were moved to a caged-off area where they were herded… which Sayha made her way to, and no one took any notice of her.
Sayha found the chicken that she had scouted and pulled out the feed she had bought. Then, she scattered the feed around the caged area, and all the chickens ate. Once she was done feeding them, her <Scout> buff disappeared. Her job was done.
Sayha relocated towards the forest area while the winners of the contest were announced. Out of the corner of her eye, she way a Myobu come towards her and watch as well.
“I saw what you did,” the Myobu said, which made Sayha turn her attention to the spirit.
“So I’ve been caught?”
The Myobu giggled, “I won’t say anything… this time. Elder Yamamoto may not like it if she found out.”
Sayha smiled, “You’re the Myobu from before, aren’t you.”
“That is correct,” it looked up and Sayha and blinked, “Come find me when you’re ready for a companion.” With that, it turned and bound off back towards the forest, heading to the Amaterasu, from what Sayha guessed.
Sayha turned her attention back when the girl from before was awarded first place. The group from before was awarded third place. Sayha felt better about the situation now, and she would head home… but first, there was some things she needed to take care of since she needed to stock up on some things for her pharmacy subclass.
