[attr="class","capsol"] A bright flash of light cut off the Monk's vision, as his body seemed to have been whisked away. In an instant, it seemed that time had warped him back to a point where he had just left from. While the scenery was just the same, the market place seemed to be different somehow. Looking around, he didn't know what exactly had been altered... Except for what he held in his hands at the moment. He looked down, and saw the same two pistols he had made not too long ago, Yin and Yang. Why would he, a Monk, be holding weapons? Let alone guns? Just then, something seemed to slip into his mind. A memory, as it felt. He recalled working on a quest or some such, to help pay for the station back in London, and the targets were rather simple, so he figured he'd use the time to keep his aim as sharp as it could be. But that didn't make sense: He was in the middle of a fight! Why did he reappear here, all of a sudden? So many questions flooded into his mind, and he tried to sort out everything as best as he could, until he turned his head, and looked up at one of the nearby signs. His eyes widened for a moment, as he recited what the sign said.
"New Leaf Market..." Hiro mumbled. Just then, the memories came flooding back. About the duel Hiro had had with Orion, and the fight that Sayha was involved in with Rhopalocera. The Fairy and Human combination that resulted in an all-out, two-way brawl in the middle of the market, to make sure that Magistrate Zaffre hadn't been killed, and the rest of the city was spared. But, why did it feel like he didn't remember Orion and Rhopalocera? Actually, where did those names come from? All Hiro recalled was a large group of monsters... But that didn't feel right. He looked around a bit more, and saw a small crowd of people cheering for a moment, before they began to go about their own business. His eyes met with Zaffre, who was standing just a little ways away. He seemed pleased and happy with what had happened, but something else felt off. Something about the Magistrate, but he couldn't tell what. This wasn't the time to be confused abotu everything and anything that had been going on, and now was the time to try and gather up some kind of answers. But how? There had to be something that would give him a hint as to what unfolded just moments before, in this world.
Looking around, Hiro couldn't see any bodies of monsters on the ground. Nor was there any kind of blood. In fact, there didn't seem to be any sign of combat at all. Did Hiro perhaps use his guns in this fight? No, no he used his fists, for sure. There was no real way that Hiro would have risked the lives of people just for the sake of using some fancy weaponry. He would have certainly used his fists, to ensure that nobody else would be hurt as a result. He knew his own strength, and how best to apply it. Looking around at the people, he saw just faces. No names with the people at all. Hope and Sage were absolutely nowhere to be seen, but he could clearly recall that they had played an active part in this city. Nor did he see any of the Crownless Kings from the deal that Hiro and Sayha had set up beforehand, in order to make sure that nobody would be hurt. Looking around more, though fruitlessly, Hiro scanned to see if he could find anybody else of help. His attention was directed to Sayha, who he thought was just nearby. "Something's... Off, here." Hiro said quietly, without making eye contact with the Assassin. To be honest, he didn't even know if the Assassin was there or not. He just had a gut feeling that she would be, since this place seemed to be an exact replica of the last time they were in Lune. But, even replicas have flaws, compared to the original version.

One moment Sayha was in Moon Dance Forest doing some training with her companion Yuki. The next? Sayha wasn’t quite sure. A blinding light had glowed around her and now suddenly she was no longer surrounded by trees. On the plus side, though, Yuki was still with her, and her scythe was strapped to her back.
“<What… what just happened?>” the little Myobu fox asked looking up at Sayha.
“Good question,” Sayha looked around, getting her bearings. The scene was familiar… and then it suddenly clicked. Lune. She was back in Lune Seaport… and it seemed it was just the way she had left it with Hiro the last time… or so it would seem. They were in the New Leaf Market which was where the two Genius from before had appeared: Rhopalocera and Orion. Sayha had fought the butterfly one while Hiro handled the other one. Orion had gotten away, but Sayha made sure to finish of the butterfly.
“We’re in the past,” Sayha said quietly, making sure no one but Yuki could hear her, “It’s a long story. If any combat happens here, I’m going to withdraw you… it won’t be safe.”
“<Understood>,” Yuki nodded before jumping up onto Sayha and taking her normal perch on her shoulders with Yuki’s head on Sayha’s right shoulder. Sayha looked around, trying to see where everyone was. The Market was clear of most if not all civilians… but then there were guys in blue. Zaffre’s guys. They seemed to be talking amongst themselves, and Sayha wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. Then… Hiro. He was there with her as well, and Sayha instantly felt relief… but then something was wrong. Not with Hiro, but just what had happened. Since being transported back, Sayha hadn’t given what happened much thought but then something occurred to her.
When the Sages first spoke to Sayha and Hiro about the event they were supposed to stop, he had said that there would be many monsters… and Sayha recalled that as much from her vision from the to-be married couple who were hopefully hiding now. However, only two monsters, the Genius, attacked. What happened?
Sayha walked over to Hiro and gently placed her hand on his shoulder. “I’m glad you’re here,” Sayha said to him, “It looks like it’s not over quite yet.”
It was at that moment that Yuki began to growl slightly. Not at Hiro… but at someone approaching. Sayha glanced over to the guys in blue… and it seemed that Zaffre was approaching them. “Yuki…” Sayha said quietly to the fox.
“<I wouldn’t trust him>,” she responded before continuing to growl.

[attr="class","capsol"] A hand had fallen upon Hiro's shoulder, causing him to turn his head sharply. The uneasy feeling he'd had every since he got here had caused him to be overly tense. He was about to whip around both the pistols, and demand to know who or what was there, when he saw the familiar purple-tinted hair of his girlfriend. Immediately, he felt a weight leave his entire being. He was just about to smile and respond, though his eyes flicked over to Zaffre, who was now walking closer to the duo at this point. It was strange, but something definitely did seem off with Zaffre. Like there was something he knew, that Hiro and Sayha didn't. Perhaps he would explain what exactly was going on, and why their memories had seemed to fuddled. Or, maybe he'd congratulate them for vanquishing the monster(s) that was/were there, and that would hint them to something that would explain things even remotely better. Any kind of a hint would be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small it was. Lowering his guard for a moment, Hiro turned to face Zaffre more directly, hoping he would say something to aid their confusion.
"It seems that the confusion will be dying down soon here, thanks to you two and your efforts." He began, a smile upon his face. "I'd like to thank you in a more accommodating manner if I could, but sadly, no such thing can be done at the moment." He raised a hand to the soldiers nearby, and flicked his wrist, signaling them to tend to the citizens. The fanned out in a wide circle around the two, and began to talk to the civilians. "Being a magistrate, I'm sure you can understand that, when something of this caliber happens, I need to keep everything as controlled as possible. Safety of the people comes first, as you know, is my job, after all. And for that, I'm appreciated by the common person. Now, if you two would be so kind as to answer a few things for me. Ah, but first." Zaffre chuckled a little bit, and bowed to the two more formally. "Thank you very much for bringing with you such a power." He said. Instinctively raising his eyebrow, Hiro was about to question the man, when he continued. Rising up from his bow with a dark grin on his face, Zaffre spoke in a more serious tone. "It shall serve the city nicely, I feel." Hiro's heart sank, but not before the world did.
The world around them seemed to crumble suddenly. Darkness began to swirl around the Monk and Assassin, with Zaffre ending up in the middle. The world turned into a black-and-white still-frame, with nothing else moving at all outside of the three. "What the-!" Hiro shouted, but not long at all before he felt a movement in his pocket. Zaffre had stretched out his hands towards Hiro and Sayha, and for some reason, the Pebbles of Philosophy had begun to react. Dropping the pistol in his hand, Hiro reached into his pocket and grabbed the Pebble, holding the other pistol up. "What the hell do you think you're doing!?!" He exclaimed. What was Zaffre planning? Why did he need the Pebble of Philosophy? Actually, how did he even know about it? Never once did the item show up in their grasps or on their person, save for the flash of light. While Hiro was thinking about this, he could feel a dark presence begin to flow around them. In this suspended reality, where time outside stood still, something else had crept its way inside, and was now occupying the space with them. Unable to think much more clearly, Hiro tried with all his might to hold the Pebble in his hand, while keeping Yang up and facing the Magistrate. Whatever was going on here, it could not be good. Gritting his teeth, he stood there for a few more moments.
"Sayha." Hiro said quietly. "We need to either fight or run. I can bring up the rear if we run, but if we fight, I'll fire away." He turned his attention to the girl, a stern look about him. "Whatever's going on, I don't think the people would appreciate the Magistrate being dead, so I vote that we make a run for it." His gaze returned to Zaffre, as his body focused on keeping the Pebble in his hand, which was getting harder and harder to do by the minute. "I'll back you up, so whether you run or fight, I'll be right there with you." Finishing the only two options he felt that they had, he needed to keep in mind the presence that was around them. Had the entity heard his plan? Would they even be safe trying to run? Or even fighting? All he knew was that the Pebble was far too important to give up to someone, especially with this dark power surrounding them. He waited to hear Sayha's response, before he'd make his own move.

After Sayha placed her hand on Hiro’s shoulder, he turned to look at her. He seemed even more on edge than Sayha was… and that was a bad thing in more ways than she could count. An on top of Hiro being on edge, Yuki was growling at the Magister who was now approaching. Sayha herself was edgy, not particularly happy with being summoned to the past on a whim… but that was simply how the <Pebble of Philosophy> seemed to work.
Sayha refocused her attention to the Zaffre who had now begun to talk. He had said he wanted to thank them in an “accommodating manner,” probably like they had before which was not at all. Something, though, in the tone of his voice officially put Sayha on the edge. Something was wrong, very wrong. “Yuki, withdraw,” Sayha whispered to the fox on her shoulder. She nodded, solemnly before disappearing. She would owe Yuki later, but for now, she wanted to keep her companion safe since she was only level 20. Plus, she needed to put her full attention on the Magister, despite the fact that his words were petty. Sayha moved the scythe from her back into her hands. However, it wasn’t the scythe that would serve her best in this particular situation. She used <Quick Draw>, the scythe in her hand being replaced by her bow. With her bow in her left hand, she notched an arrow and strung it, aiming it at Zaffre’s heart.
Now the man was thanking the two for bringing power to the city, and a chill suddenly ran up her spine. The world seemed to just… stop. It was almost like the ending of acts in a show she used to watch when she lived in America, NCIS. The world would be going about like normal then suddenly the scene turned black and white and paused. That was what happened, and Hiro seemed just as surprised as Sayha. It was then that Zaffre stretched his hand towards Sayha and Hiro… and something was wrong. Sayha felt the <Pebble> in her pocket. At first, it seemed to warm up but then it suddenly began to cool off as if it was being used.
Hiro called at Zaffre, asking what he was doing. That was when it hit Sayha. Zaffre was draining the <Pebble>. Hiro then turned to Sayha, explaining that they needed to fight or run. He didn’t think that the people in the city would want the Magister dead. He wanted to run, but he would back up whatever Sayha’s decision would be. Running did sound like a solid idea… but where would they run to? Somewhere else in Lune where they would be able to be found? With Zaffre draining the power, she wondered if the two would be able to be teleported away… but that was all just a chance. The <Pebble> did what the <Pebble> wanted, and there was no controlling it. They couldn’t put their loves on a simple chance.
“We stand and fight,” Sayha said glancing at Hiro through the corner of her eye. She kept her full attention on Zaffre. “No hard feelings,” Sayha said to Zaffre, her voice having a bite of venom in it. Then she focused her mana on the arrow notched on her bow. She whispered to the arrow, “Tóbrædan.” Then, the arrow flew… just before it multiplied. Dozens of arrows then went crashing towards Zaffre, leaving only smoke in the wake of their impact.

[attr="class","capsol"] The idea was to follow up in Sayha's motion of attacking. As the Assassin wound up her bow to fire a powerful shot, Hiro lifted up the gun he still had in hand, his finger about to pull back on the trigger to unleash a flurry of bullets. However, just as the motions were made, a dark wall of energy appeared before the Magistrate. Any ammunition or attack would be stopped by the sheer force of the wall, causing Hiro to grunt and glare. This wasn't fair at all. But, things still felt a whole lot different than they had before, back when Hiro and Sayha had first arrived in this place. Something here was working against them now, and perhaps the dark being that was surrounding them was something of a key to this mystery. Somehow, though, the force acting on the pebble in Hiro's hand seemed to increase, causing him to lose grip of it suddenly. The artifact began to float gently in the air, unmoving. Despite Hiro's desire to reach out and grab the object back for his own, he felt the burning gaze of the other being. It was watching, waiting, for the right moment to strike back at the Monk and Assassin combo.
A moment later, a red cloaked figure appeared before Zaffre, who turns to speak to the new being. "This went off far more smoothly than we had originally imagined, wouldn't you say?" Zaffre said slyly, a grin appearing on his face. The being only nodded, before stepping forward a few paces. The wall of energy that was in front of Zaffre had still cut them off from the pebble that was now floating right in front of Hiro, and it seemed that they couldn't quite get through at the moment. All Hiro needed to do was reach out and grab the floating object, but he knew still that they might be attacked. On top of that, where would they run in order to get away? If one of them died, did they respawn back in London? Or were they trapped in a sort of Limbo for the remainder of the game's existence? Or, perhaps forever, as their minds would turn into data, killing their physical bodies. "Perhaps this shall be enough to save Lune?" Zaffre continued, cutting off Hiro's train of thought. He was still addressing the red man, who also nodded once again. Taking a few steps closer to the force field, the red man placed a hand upon the wall, and glared at the stone.
His eyes shifted slowly to Zaffre, as the red man finally spoke. "If it weren't for your damned wall, we would have it by now." He said, his voice low and confident. The man's eyes glanced up at Hiro and Sayha at this point in time, bringing his hand down from the wall. "Though, to take something from those who have earned its power is not something to be taken lightly..." His face was covered, though his muttering was still audible.
Hiro had had enough of this silence, and felt some strength return to his body again. Glowering at the new person, Hiro started to walk over towards the left. The red man's eyes followed. "So..." The Monk began. "Are you gonna introduce us, Zaffre?" Hiro paused in his movements, and turned his body to face the Magistrate once again. His voice lowered further, and a scowl soon formed. "Or is there more to this plan of yours that you wanna keep from us? Lord knows you owe us for saving your useless ass back in the city." Hiro started to slowly pace back the other direction from there, keeping his eyes fixed upon the newcomer and Zaffre.
The red man nodded and closed his eyes. "Indeed, they did save your hide, so it is only fair that I tell them." At that mentioning, Zaffre made an audible attempt at a protest, though the red man held out his arm towards the Magistrate. Zaffre tensed up suddenly, and his mouth shut immediately. "Your city will be safe, if even two people know of this plan. For they have nothing to stop it from happening." The red man turned back to Hiro, and began. "I know that you two are not from this world: You are from one of the future. The Seaport of Lune, as you're likely well aware, is in the past. As such, I have a name that you Adventurers had called me: The Red." A name that Hiro had heard of, but not enough to ask about. His eyes simply squinted, as the man continued. "Though, you two are not likely to know that, so I will give you my real name. I am Crom Cruach." He nodded once more, as though it were a pass time of his, before finishing. "I thank you both for bringing the pebbles you hold with you." A silence began to follow from there, one that Hiro had decided to keep at. Since the force field was still up, they couldn't reach for the pebble. For now, there wasn't much else to say on his behalf, as Hiro's eyes moved to Sayha. Perhaps she had something to ask?

As much as Sayha had hoped to end things quickly in one swift attack, that hope was quickly dashed. As soon as Sayha’s attack had gone into motion, something had appeared in front of the Magister, blocking the attack. Her attacks had exploded into smoke, but smoke didn’t exactly do any damage. It seemed Hiro had seen the shield or force field or whatever it was before she had, and he didn’t waste any bullets. Probably for the best as things didn’t seem to be going very well.
Hiro’s <Pebble of Philosophy> had left Hiro and it was now floating in front of him between him and the Magister and the new person who had appeared. Sayha had not removed her Pebble from her pocket, but she could feel it moving as if it were drawn to the two men in front of her like a magnet. After a moment, it too floated out in front of Sayha, and Sayha took that opportunity to <Quick Swap> back to her Scythe.
Something about the new person in red made Sayha’s stomach churn. There was just something wrong about him. It wasn’t like she could feel Miasma or anything like that on him… it was hard to put words to, but Sayha could just tell he was bad news. Of course, Zaffre was talking to him so maybe that was a given.
Zaffre had turned to the man in red, asking if the Pebbles would be enough to save Lune. To save Lune… that was what Hiro and Sayha had been doing… with the Pebbles help, of course. Though, it did make Sayha wonder… what exactly was the Pebble? Yes, she knew what it was made up of by that point… but there was something more than that… and it seemed the one in red knew. The one in Red had said the Pebbles would have been theirs by then if it wasn’t for Zaffre’s shield.
Hiro had had enough it seemed and finally spoke up. He wanted answers. Sayha did as well, and she spun the scythe in front of her with her left hand. She would attack again, even if it were futile should the need arise.
The new man, the one in red, had for some reason agreed that Hiro deserved his answers. It was too easy, but there was no point in arguing. She listened to the man as he spoke. The man knew that they were not from Lune and that they were from the future. He said that Adventurers had called him “The Red” in their timeline. Sayha had recalled rumors about “The Red,” but they had seemed odd. Besides, they were very few and far between. No one had known who or what he was… though if he was here, and he knew what he did, it would make sense that he too was from the future just as Hiro and Sayha were. Then, the Red gave his real name: Crom Cruach. And the thanked them for bringing him the Pebbles.
“We didn’t bring them for you,” Sayha growled, “You are little more than fools. And what exactly do you plan on doing with the Pebbles… not that it will matter. You can’t control their power, no matter how hard you try. Whatever you’re planning is useless. It won’t work.”

[attr="class","capsol"] Without having lowered his guard at all, it felt like an eternity since the Red one had last spoken. Hiro disliked the amount of silence that had been there. It was as if the world itself, ironically though it already was, had frozen in place, time and all. Sayha's response was prompt, definitely, though it seemed a bit naive in Hiro's mind. Given that the pebbles now floated between themselves and the Magistrate/Cruach duo, in a perpetual free-fall for the remainder of their lives, Crom very obviously had some kind of powerful connection to the stones themselves. Perhaps he did have what was needed to make use of them, somehow. However, Hiro had no worldly idea what that could be. Eventually, though, it seemed that Crom had the willingness to start talking once again, causing Hiro to raise an eyebrow. His guard never faulted, as the red man began to speak once more.
"Ah, but that's where you're wrong, kiddo." Crom said, in an almost cocky fashion. He started to pace to the side a bit, as he continued. "See, this is where things get a little interesting for me. And you, by proxy." He stopped in place, to turn his red-covered gaze to the adventurers before him. "There's word on the streets of... Well, it doesn't matter where, but on the last day of the Harvest Festival, there's supposed to be a large meteor, crashing down into the city, followed by a tremendous explosion that could very well wipe out all life for a couple dozen miles. And, the good Magistrate here doesn't want that to happen right yet, but we had no real way to stop that from happening yet." He returned his arms behind his back, and began to pace in the other direction once more. "That's why you two being here is so helpful for us. See, those stones you brought with you have the power to stop that calamity, and we just so happen to need it. You wouldn't want to let thousands upon thousands of people die, just because you wanted to hold onto a pet rock for a while," Crom stopped, and glared at the two of them once more, his eyes like daggers. "Would you?"
Almost taken aback by it all, Hiro felt himself clench his open fist. Zaffre stepped forward, and nodded. "What he says is true. Our spiritual leaders have confirmed this calamity, and for the sake of the city, we must apprehend those Pebbles." Zaffre, then, began to march towards the stones, causing Hiro to lift up the pistol higher, aiming for the Magistrate's head. However, just as Zaffre made it 3 steps forward, his entire being seemed to turn completely white, and he froze in time with the rest of the world. Hiro's eyes widened, confused by it all, only to see Crom having raised a hand up.
"Whoa, whoa there, Mr. Save the City." Crom taunted. "Gonna need you to take a time out, sport." The sudden freezing of Zaffre caught Hiro completely off guard, and almost made him question everything about this whole setup. But, before he could say anything, the Red spoke further. "Jeez, the guy's all business. Parents should've named him Jack." Crom, having suddenly begun to seem more human in his mannerisms, put a hand up behind his head and scratched, turning to the side. "Dull boys don't get to play often, so I've heard."
"What're you...?" Hiro began, still dazed by the events. Given the sudden actions of the Red man, as well as why a person like him would be helping out the city... "There's a couple questions I've got here, but I doubt you'd answer them, huh?"
"Not a chance, sport." Was Crom's response. "Instead, how about you two do me a favor?" He was still blocked by the ethereal wall between them, which was good. "What would you say to leaving the city, and not coming back? Things are hard enough as it is, with you two around, and it'd do me the biggest solid to have you two just disappear from this timeline. You two being here has been helpful enough, so as to bring me not just one pebble, but two, and I think that that's enough for one lifetime, isn't it?" He continued to seem like he was taunting.
Fed up with this guy, Hiro started to glare harder. "Just get rid of those who bring you what you want, huh?" Finally, his guard dropped. Hiro's weapon went to his side, and his shoulders began to relax. "Seems to me you're just as powerless as Zaffre there. Now, I was wondering how you knew that we weren't from this timeline, but I guess that that doesn't matter, either. But, I guess that doesn't matter." Just as Hiro said this, the Pebbles began to glow. Crom reacted very suddenly in a surprised fashion. A beam of light fired from each o the stones to their respective owners, and the Monk's vision began to fade. It was as if the world itself had started back up around them, though, as Hiro could hear some sounds of movement around himself. However, his vision still hadn't recovered yet...

Sayha knew her words were pretty empty, but her anger was getting the better of her. She was livid… beyond livid. The last time she had been this angry was back when she and Hiro first met the heretic Hecate… and Sayha was still doing everything she could to stop her group… or maybe cult was a better word for it. Of course, the man in red, Crom, wasn’t helping Sayha keep her calm at all.
Crom was incredibly cocky and, if the shield wasn’t around him, Sayha would have probably attacked him outright not caring about the consequences. He went on, saying that the city of Lune would eventually be destroyed by a meteor on the last day of the Harvest Festival. It seemed that Lune was just not meant to exist or something bad just had to happen. There were no coincidences, Sayha knew… and somehow her mind was thinking clearly enough to come to the conclusion that someone just wanted to destroy Lune for a specific reason. If that was true, then it didn’t matter what Sayha and Hiro did to save the city… they needed to go to the source of the problem.
It seemed Zaffre had more to say, but Crom stopped him… and Sayha couldn’t help but thing the man had his own agenda. Hiro was about to say something but seemed to realize that the man in red wasn’t going to give him answers. Crom confirmed this, but then continued to speak, asking them in a taunting tone if they would never return. Hiro wasn’t having any of his nonsense, telling Crom that he was just as powerless as Zaffre… which Sayha didn’t particularly agree with. The time stopping around them could only be caused by him… which made him quite strong… though that simply meant taking him down would be even more amazing.
Sayha was about to say something after Hiro finished talking, but she didn’t have a chance. Out of nowhere, the Pebbles that were floating in front of both Sayha and Hiro shot beams of light into both her and Hiro. Sayha felt the magic inside of her suddenly grow, but she couldn’t do anything. Her vision clouded and faded into darkness.
