Appearance Reference Image As a member of the Race of Ritual, Remis looks fairly human by almost all standards. The only feature that truly distinguishes him from a human are the tattoos placed on various locations on his body. The blue-haired heretic stands an average height of 5'10'', weighing around 165 pounds on any given day. His build is fairly average, though he is a bit more on the skinny side of the male spectrum. Heretics aren't exactly known for their bulging muscles or toned six packs, anyways. Remis' face is fairly rounded- the long, strikingly blue hair that covers his ears only seems to accentuate this curvature. His eyes are a light shade of brown- the right eye is surrounded by a tribal red tattoo that clearly distinguishes him as non-human. For clothing, Remis opts to avoid wearing any kind of heavy armor that would apply penalties to his magics. He wears a simple set of blue pants and white-collared shirt under an elegant, dark blue robe accentuated with white trim. The robe is emblazoned with a golden symbol on the upper left chest area. He typically tucks in his flowing blue pants into his high black boots. | Personality The best word to describe Remis would be conflicted. Ryan Underwood, in the world before the Apocalypse, was an outlier. He exceeded in his academics to some noteworthy degree, but his ability to form meaningful connections with others was destitute. He cared for his peers, but his methods of communication were exceedingly poor. Perhaps it was his body language, his tone of voice, or some combination of the two, but Ryan could never quite convince people he wanted to be friends with him. He always seemed condescending- too good to meddle with those who could not keep up with his intellectual prowess. He developed a sense of bitterness for those who took so naturally so the illusive intricacies of social interaction. He tried his best to develop some kind of charm in his favor- but alas, he could never quite manage to get it right. He began to keep to himself as much as he could; forcing social interaction just seemed to bring him more embarrassment than it ever did satisfaction. Ryan moved on to internet forums to compensate for his lack of tangible friendships. Though his real self was off-putting to many, his words alone seemed to transcend whatever it was that made him so repulsive. He forged friendships over shared hobbies- video games, anime, books, and a few academic interests. Though he may have been a reserved character in the physical world, he was a source of joyful humor among his virtual companions. His relationships were absent of any superficiality; in his mind, all of his relationships were solely built on the harmony between two personalities. The complications that came with face-to-face interaction eroded away on the internet. No matter how lonely he ever got during the day, he always had a group of people across the world he could fall back on for support. Ryan and his friends decided to sign up for a new MMORPG together. The lauded game, Elder Tale, was finally being launched in Britain; what few friends he had around the country would band together to join in the marvelous world of virtual questing. Unfortunately, the Apocalypse seemed to play a cruel fate on the teenager. Though he had once reveled in the fanciful worlds of magic and swordsmanship, he was now trapped as a living entity within this world. He could no longer hide behind the guise of pseudo-anonymity. His crippling social inabilities were sure to come haunt him; he would be disliked. Ridiculed. People would think of him as a haughty naysayer. Remis instinctively began to withdrawal from other adventurers. He would not respond to telepathy. He deleted his friends. If he had to choose between being disliked and being lonely, he would choose lonely every single time. As a fairly solemn adventurer, Remis has taken it upon himself to conduct a thorough investigation of this world's principles. He has noticed that the rules of the old word and the rules of this new one are mixmatched in some unpredictable combination. Though he is not nearly a high enough level to unlock the secrets of the Apocalypse quite yet, he is determined to find out exactly what is going on. |

Biography
Ryan Underwood was born in the middle of the spring of 2001 to some nondescript hospital in the suburbs of London. His father was an electrical engineer who had recently moved into executive management while his mother was a physics professor at a local university. It was, perhaps, simple genetics that Ryan would be intellectually gifted. He was categorized into advanced placement classes at an early age- by the time he was 12, he had already skipped two grades and and was close to skipping a third. It was only at the behest of his mother that the school did not move Ryan up further in his academic progress- she was worried about his social abilities with his peers, and rightly so.
The unfortunate burden of an intellectual such as Ryan is that he was never quite able to understand the trivialities of everyday social interactions. Why did he have to hold back from telling people when they were wrong? Why did he have to act like he enjoyed the presence of certain people when he honestly did not? Empathy was, for the most part, lost on the young man. At best, his peers treated him with a simple level of apathetic disregard- at worst, they tore into his ego with all the viciousness that middle-schoolers could muster. Ryan, unable to properly cope with the situation, resigned himself to the depths of discreet internet forums where he could find like-minded individuals to talk with.
Ryan made a small group of close friends over the internet. They chatted almost daily, and spent many hours campaigning through a variety of virtual worlds with one another. For years, it seemed as if Ryan's daily routine were to come home, schoolwork already completed, and stay up into the wee hours of the morning exploring the depths of whatever chasm of the internet he and his friends had fallen into.
After graduating from secondary school at the young age of 15, Ryan elected to take a gap year before going into college. However, right at the end of this year of almost incessant gaming, hacktivist pursuits, and numerous skype calls, it was announced Elder Tale would finally be coming to the great land of Britain. It seemed only natural that Ryan and his group of virtual companions would delve into one last final world before he went off to college.
And then the Apocalypse happened.
The first few days were disorienting. Ryan thought it was a dream. So did his friends. They ventured out and realized that it was a far, far more grave situation than what they had anticipated- it was something straight out of a science fiction anime. With no quick solution in sight, the band of adventurers spent many of their days simply meandering around various parts of the city. They were much too scared to go out and try to adventure. As the weeks went on, the true peril of their reality began to set in further and further.
Perhaps it was the influence of the Heretic class, but Remis began to crack under the stress of the situation and envisioned his friends turning against him. It was not long before Remis had deleted them all from his friends list and set off into the world by his lonesome- he would not be betrayed or belittled. Not here. Not anywhere.

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Heretic
Miasma Curtain: The Heretic concentrates Miasma in a dispersed form and swings its essence around them, causing a violet mist to materialize and rapidly whip out from the Heretic's body. The Miasma strikes all opponents within 2 meters with dark attribute damage and applies 1 point of Corruption to all affected targets. Miasma Curtain does not damage allies, but will still apply Corruption if they are within range. This skill has a minimum casting time of 2 seconds, a maximum casting time of 5 seconds, and a cooldown of 10 seconds. Miasma Curtain's casting time can be increased in order to deal 10% extra damage and 1 additional point of Corruption per second.
Miasma Bullet: The Heretic generates Miasma into a black orb projectile. The orb is then fired toward an enemy within 10 meters at a high velocity. Exposure to this concentrated mass deals dark attribute damage to the target and applies 1 point of Corruption to the target. The Heretic may alternately charge this skill to deal 25% extra damage and 1 additional point of Corruption for every second of charging. This skill has a cooldown of 5 seconds, a regular casting time of 2 seconds, and a maximum casting time of 5 seconds.
Shackles of the Sentenced: Miasma takes a tangible form in the shape of violet-black chains which erupt from the ground and wrap around a target. These chains root the enemy in place for 5 seconds. During this time, if the target should be afflicted with any skill that inflicts Corruption, their Corruption is increased by 1 additional point. This skill has a casting time of 1.5 seconds and a cooldown of 20 seconds.
Level 4 Tier I Skill: A Tier I skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. Unlocked at Level 4.
Level 7 Tier I Skill: A Tier I skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. Unlocked at Level 7.

Level 31 Tier II Skill: A skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. The skill may be either a Tier I or II skill. Unlocked at Level 31.
Roleplay Class: Sage
Sense Element: Sages are sensitive to the different forms of mana once it has polarized into the eight main elements. Sense Element allows the Sage to home in onto a specific element and obtain a vague impression of that element's location. This can be useful for searching for water sources when traveling through a dry desert or for being able to navigate oneself through a dark cave by following the trail of light or wind mana. Of course, based on the context of the environment, this skill may not be particularly helpful at times. Using it while sailing on the high seas to search for water mana, for example, will probably overload the Sage's senses. Sense Element has a casting time of 10 seconds, a range of 25 meters, and a cooldown of 60 seconds.
Crafting Class: Alchemist
Transmutation: Alchemists are naturally aligned with the power of magical equipment, able to use the Adventurer skill [Equipment Mastery: Magical] as a Beginner-level skill without having it take up a skill slot. Their research also gives them an advantage in fighting Artificial Life to deal an additional 10% damage. If [Equipment Mastery: Magical] is already learned through racial or class bonuses, Magitech damage increases by 10%.
