Appearance
{In Game Appearance}
Katarina is a young fox tail, who has short, dark-purple hair and chestnut eyes. Katarina chooses to hide all but one of her tails, which wags occasionally. Her tail matches her hair, being dark-purple in colour, with a even darker tip. Her avatar has a very short and skinny build. Standing at a little less than five feet, she's left looking more like a little girl than her actual age.
Before entering the game, Joel had terrible posture and was almost always seen with bags under his eyes, gained from a life full of late nights spent slouching in front of a computer monitor, playing Elder Tale and researching its lore. In game, it's the same deal, only now Katarina's spending all her nights burying herself in strategy books and books about the history of Elder Tale. Some things never change.
In terms of apparel, Katarina prefers to wear coats and cloaks over anything else, almost always being spotted in one, regardless of temperature. She doesn't really care about her wardrobe matching, however the two colours she is seen most in are black and purple. When alone, Katarina is usually seen with a bored, apathetic expression on her face, although that instantly goes away as soon as she starts talking to somebody, being replaced by a cocky smirk.

In real life, Joel Summers is a young high school student. He has short, dyed purple hair which reaches down to his chin, similar to his avatar. Unlike his avatar, however, he is male and rather tall for his age. His eyes are coloured blue and he has been noted to look very similar to his mother, with a somewhat feminine facial structure. He is often seen in his school uniform, mostly because he can't be bothered to take it off, generally throwing a black hoodie over it in an attempt to emulate the appearance of most of his characters.
Personality
Katarina as a person can be summed up in one word: Snark. She is prone to making sarcastic and snide remarks at every possible point. She has it down to a science. Very rarely does she say something that isn't sarcastic and condescending.
Katarina gets bored very easily, and has a tendency to go out and do somewhat stupid things such as accept dangerous quests and go out solo despite not being an offensive class. That's not to say she's stupid, she's not dumb enough to stick around if the situation turns sour and she's certainly smart enough to think her way out of any situation she finds herself in. She just has a bad habit of getting into these situations in the first place.
One of Katarina's major flaws is her massive ego. She always tries to take control of any situation she finds herself in, with varying degrees of success.
Katarina is a very good liar, perfectly capable of twisting the truth and spitting out fake information. Despite this, she greatly prefers to tell the truth in the majority of situations, and she has a hard time forcing herself to lie to friends and family. That being said, if the situation is dire (or if she just really wants something), she's more than happy to lie like a dog and trick people she knows into doing things for her.
If Katarina finds something she likes, she will completely engross herself in it, paying little attention to anything else unrelated from it.
Katarina is very smart, and tended to play the role of her team's strategist back when they played on the Japanese servers before she was dropped into the game. Katarina has memorised most of the pre-Novasphere monsters and lore, and as such doesn't need to use her Scholar subclass too much.
Katarina isn't exactly very comfortable being called female, and will correct anybody that refers to her as such.

Background
Back before the Catastrophe, Joel was a shut in gamer. He practically lived online, and barring school, he had almost never left his house. This wasn't to say that he was lonely, though. His father was just as big of a gamer as him, spending all of his free time playing video games and watching eSports on Twitch. They were close.
His mother on the other hand was always somewhat distant, always at her job and never home. Even during those short periods of time she was home, she never really bothered to make the effort to say more to him than a quick "Hello, Joel!". Really though, Joel didn't care. He had raids to plan for! His mother could wait; Elder Tale and his party came first.
His party consisted of ten players: eight people he had met at school and various gaming conventions he had gone to, the self proclaimed "leader" of the group, his dad and Joel himself, the strategist. The one that came up with all the plans. They were a pretty tightly knit group, with everybody keeping in touch with each other and chatting at least once a day.
Joel spent countless hours in Elder Tale, playing with his group. It was absolutely ridiculous how much of his life he spent playing that game. He had ended up maxing both his main character, an Assassin, and his alt, a Swashbucker, and was working on levelling an Enchanter.
Well, he dropped that character pretty soon after the announcement was made. The next expansion pack was coming out, and the British were getting their very own server to go with it. Needless to say, Joel was excited. He was a little annoyed by the announcement that it wouldn't support him just transferring his Japanese characters across, but hey, starting fresh was a small price to pay for new Elder Tale content.
Unfortunately, the day that the pack was released, everything seemed to go wrong for his group. Each member gave a reason why they couldn't play on that day, with reasons ranging from "I've got work" to "I have to go to a funeral". Joel's dad was one of the people who had to work, which meant that Joel would have to wait if he wanted to start out with the rest of his group.
...Hah. Like he'd do that. He had the expansion installed, and it wasn't like the others would get too mad at him for starting out early.
With that decided, Joel started to create his character. He almost always played physical classes in these types of games, barring his brief stint as an Enchanter, but he had heard from his dad, the group's only healer that he was going to go Assassin this time around, just to switch things up. Joel knew that there was no way in hell that any of the others were willing to play support, so Joel decided "What the hell, let's go healer". And just to fit his mental image of a healer, he decided to make his character a female child Fox Tail. He spent ludicrous amounts of time messing with all the sliders and making small, minute changes to his avatar in order to make her look just right.
Then, finally, the last step. Probably the most difficult one of all. [What would you like to name your character?] It was such a simple question that the game posed to him, but it was so difficult deciding. Joel pondered the question for a while, racking his brain for names. Then, finally, something clicked. "Katarina..." Joel muttered to himself, as if to test how the name sounded. Normally, Joel didn't like borrowing names from other media, however that one tactician from his favourite tactical RPG seemed to have a name that just clicked with the kind of character Joel wanted to create. With that decided, he typed out the name and hit OK.
[Are you sure you wish to name your character Katarina?]
He hit yes.
"W-Wait, what? Where am I?"
Katarina gulped as she realised what had just happened.
"Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me..."
It was safe to say that her life would never be the same again.

Skill List
Cleric Skills Ambidexterity: The mechanics of Elder Tale lightly discourage dual-wielding due to the reduced accuracy and proficiency with such a combat style. However, it remains a quite popular strategy among those who willingly sacrifice stability and defense for a little boost in DPS. It is such that Swashbucklers are primarily the class type that specializes in dual-wielding and thus has the most compatible skills for this purpose. The Ambidexterity skill passively lifts the dual-wielding penalty from equipping two one-handed weapons or two shields. This skill does nothing for a Swashbuckler, since they already possess a beginner skill which does the same purpose. Healing Light: Heals injuries by shooting a white light with a hexagram shape from one's fingertips. The amount of HP it heals is small compared to Heal, but it generates minimal Hate and only consumes a small amount of MP, as well as having short casting and cooldown times. It can be used to heal minor wounds and emergency healing, and is often used alongside primary restoration spells to supplement one's healing capabilities. In large-scale battles where many Clerics are organized, Healing Light can be "showered" on a single tank. Because of its utility, players regardless of level are dependent on the use of this skill. Among its popular nicknames are "Do Your Best Heal" and "Crossroad Heal". This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds and a cooldown time of 8 seconds. Reactive Heal: The Cleric's starting restorative skill and regarded as the Cleric's signature skill. Unlike Heal that immediately restores hit points at once, Reactive Heal requires the target to receive damage to trigger this skill's effect. Reactive Heal's effectiveness in combat relies on the caster's level and the level of the skill itself, but it does not require the Cleric to focus on a single ally like in Heal, allowing the "Heal Walk" tactic to be employed. When activated, the ally becomes wrapped with a warm orange light as a visual effect. This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds and a cooldown time of 15 seconds. Level 4 Skill Level 7 Skill Level 10 Skill Level 13 Skill Level 16 Skill Level 19 Skill Level 22 Skill Level 25 Skill Level 28 Skill Level 31 Skill | Scholar Skills Evaluate: This skill allows the scholar to gain additional details about the enemy. While most players can access an interface that shows the monster's name, level, current HP, and current MP, the scholar obtains an additional interface when this skill is used. It has a one second cast time and one second cooldown time. The target's elemental weaknesses and a brief summary of their skills will be made available to the Scholar any time they access the target's interface. Level 11 Skill Level 21 Skill Level 31 Skill Level 41 Skill Level 51 Skill Level 61 Skill Level 71 Skill | Scribe Skills Transcription: Scribes are known for their ability to copy and examine documents carefully. This allows them to obtain the Adventurer skill [Mythic Script] as a Beginner-level skill without it taking up a skill slot. Their knowledge also allows them to use and read grimoires in the Ancient Text, allowing them to use grimoires without penalties and perform some basic magic attacks depending on their Magic stat. If the character can already use grimoires through racial or class bonuses, grimoire damage increases by 10%.
