Zivvy Race / Human Summoner Lv.1 HP 100% MP 100% Buffs None Status Normal Guild None | Zivilyn realized too late that he was falling backward instead of sitting pretty at his computer, so the back of his head hit the pavement hard. After wincing, he opened his eyes, and immediately noticed three details.
One: he was looking at a blue morning sky.
Two: there was nothing between his eyes and that sky. No screen, and especially no glasses.
Three: his sight was normal- no, better than normal, such that he could make out the details of a building's top at the edge of his view.
Sitting up from the ground, he brushed off dirt from his hair and looked around as damp air filled his lungs and a crisp breeze lightly tickled his skin. The cracked asphalt that he was sitting on was covered in moss. At his left, lion statues made of stone surrounded a tall pillar, and beyond that pillar was a building with the words “Methodist Central Hall” on it. Most of the European-style stone buildings around him, that hall included, seemed to be overtaken by trees and vines; the only exception was the cathedral at his right. A sign on a small building next to it displayed the words “The Westminster Abbey Shop”.
If “Westminster Abbey” was the cathedral's name, then could this place be London? It was an educated guess at best; even though he had explored almost the entire world of Elder Tales that was modeled after the real world, his poor geography skills meant that he had trouble committing to memory any location he had not visited in reality. A moment of distant contemplation later, icons, buttons, and windows flooded his vision.
Dead center was the Summoner symbol, and surrounding it were buttons for Skills, Equipment, Items, and Quests. According to the window in the northwest corner, he was in the Londinium zone. Faintly recalling the city of Londonheim in the Scandinavian server of the original Elder Tales, he wondered if a link existed between those two names.
Log Out and Options buttons sat in the bottom-left corner. If this situation was some dream his frayed nerves were inducing after suffering awake all night to do last-minute preparations for the Unfounded Kingdom release, pressing that Log Out button would surely dispel it, but he distinctly remembered tweaking his character model and claiming his in-game name. As for the Options button, he made a mental note to press it later.
The status window in the upper-right gave him the first jolt to break away from his dissociation: he was Zivvy, a Level 1 Summoner.
He clenched his fingers a few times, then moved his wrists, arms, and neck, each movement clearing the fog in his head. No problems so far.
In standing up to bounce on his legs a bit, he found that not only were his T-shirt and pajama pants replaced with a cloth tunic and trousers, but his hands and feet were also covered with cloth fingerless gloves and leather shoes that almost reached his knees, respectively. This was, with zero doubt, the newbie Summoner outfit.
The only true way to confirm his suspicions was to interact with someone, anyone, but why did he feel like everyone was keeping their distance from him?

Keep this in mind if you lock eyes with him. Because Londinium's Royal Guards were first sighted two days after this thread's in-story date, characters in this thread are not allowed to do actions that damage HP. Limit hostility to verbal attacks and grappling if you must. I will introduce a Lander after one or two player-to-player interactions. | Tags: Open | Word Count: 535 | Coding By Zivvy of LH |

[Open] Day 1: Beginning in the Database … There is something strange. Instead of the ceiling, Neferata sees a blue sky, like it’s already morning. “That’s a bit weird,” she muttered. And another thing: she wasn’t sitting on her chair, instead, she’s sitting on the ground. Plus, she realized: instead of casual clothes, she’s wearing some kind of cloth armor. “Alright, this is really strange…”She stood up, dusted her clothes and looked around. “Maybe I’m just in some place. But I don’t remember leaving the house…” she said, thinking why she’s here while looking around. There are lion statues, some floating, translucent window saying “Methodist Central Hall.” Neferata looked around more, then saw something. There is another building, a small one, with a sign: “The Westminster Abbey Shop” Neferata has heard of the Westminster Abbey. It’s said to be a church in London, and it has been the conventional spot for coronation and burial for English and British rulers. She sure has learned some things from school. She isn’t from London, but she moved there and stuff. Neferata muttered, “I guess I’m just outside the house—”She didn’t finish her sentence, because translucent windows appeared before her. “Okay, now this is really strange…”It’s the status screen. It says: Neferata Race / Wolfhair Swashbuckler Lv.1 “Neferata…?” She asked. “T-That’s my character’s name, isn’t it? But…” Then she saw two bars. The top has a gradient from bright yellow to dark green, has the word HP in it, and numbers. The bottom has the word MP, a gradient color from dark purple to dark blue, and also numbers. … Like some kind of game. Games have this HP and MP stuff, but why in here? This isn’t a game, is it? Is it? And wait… she mutters, “Neferata is my character’s name… in Elder Tale… so that must mean… I’m in Elder Tale itself?”
WORD COUNT: 306 TAGS: Zivvy NOTES: I know she's already Lv. 9 now, but since this is her “First Day,” she's still at Lv. 1 here. |

Zivvy Race / Human Summoner Lv.2 HP 100% MP 100% Buffs None Status Normal Guild None | Zivvy could feel the people in the area avoiding eye contact with him for some reason, so he approached a nearby man dressed in a navy blue robe, his long, pointy ears poking out from holes in his hood. "Pardon me-"
The man swerved around him and hurried his pace.
"Hm. Must've been in a hurry.” He spotted a pair of women, looking as foxy as their actual fox ears and in colorful kimonos that covered below their knees, conversing with each other. “Excuse me-”
One look at him, and they turned 180 degrees and continued their talk away from him.
“The heck?” His patience tested, he walked up to a young couple, their casual clothes giving them the air of a romantic walk around town.
He didn't even get a word out before the girl froze in fear and her boyfriend moved to shield her from him. “Stay away from us, you freak.”
“Hey, I just wanted to know-”
“We know nothing, so just go away.” The man's tone was uncompromising, so Zivvy obliged and stepped back slowly, hands held up in surrender.
“I may like playing the villain, but I don't like starting as one.” While he kept his eye on the couple now walking away from him, two small windows appeared over their heads, showing their names and HP and labeling them as People of the Land; back in the original Elder Tales, that was what NPCs were classified as. “People of the Land” was a mouthful even in text, so he and his brother shortened the term to “Landers” on the site they managed.
The interface, the Summoner outfit, and the existence of Landers. He had been avoiding the obvious, but these three facts made it hard to refute: he was somehow transported to a place just like the MMO. A certain emotion was rising to the surface, but he needed something more... absolute to confirm that this was not a fantastic dream primed to utterly break his spirit.
His status window showed that he was now Summoner Lv. 2, with his max HP and MP already increased. Had he somehow gathered experience points while stumbling about? His body didn't feel any different, so he put aside that line of thinking for the moment and tapped the Equip button, which brought out a large window in two sections: the top half was a 2D picture of him equipped with his cloth gear, and the bottom half was a list of equipped items.
He currently only had Starter Cloth Gear equipped, in the Armor slot.
“I hope I also have a starter weapon...” He recalled trying to speed through the tutorial area in the original game by equipping the starter weapon ahead of the Major Colonel's lecture, and getting an earful of one of the NPC's unique rants: a nice piece of trivia the developers coded in. With a faint smile, he tapped the Items button, which spawned three more buttons: Inventory, Gold, and Magic Bag.
Apparently his mind had written off the pull of the leather bag on his right side, its sling looping around his left shoulder. He found nothing inside it when he put his hand in, and digging into the various categories from the Magic Bag button turned up absolutely nothing.
Visibly annoyed, he tapped the Magic Bag button to dispel the categories and then tapped the Inventory button to see a list of items apparently hidden on his person.
-one Apprentice Grimoire -one Starter Kunai -one Starter Wooden Pierrot & Control Bar
“I wonder what the Pierrot is like...” He dragged the item's icon to his paper doll's left hand, which made it materialize as a pair of long wooden blocks connected in a cross shape in his actual left hand and a wooden puppet dangling from black strings. The three-foot-tall puppet had the form of a man whose skin and cloth set of hat, shirt, and pants were completely white. Its face was painted with black eyebrows, blue eyes, a black tear mark below its left eye, and red lips, and it was also wearing black shoes.
“You seem more charming than creepy.” He played with the rough-feeling bar for a moment, and puppeteer techniques that he certainly never learned before flowed through him, allowing him to operate the puppet with a hint of finesse. It stood up, craned its head, stuck out its arms, and walked, but all those movements seemed to be at half-speed. “Why does it feel like I'm half-assing this?” He clicked on the Skills button next, and the two Items windows disappeared as a new window appeared, listing off a bunch of items.
-Auto-Attack -Call of Home -Interface Control -Telepathy -Ambidexterity -Mana Reserves -Eye in the Sky -Phantasmal Heal -Summon Follower - Carbuncle -Summon Follower - Sylph -Transmutation -Act One - Exposition
Since Act One was the only one of his skills associated with the Puppeteer subclass that gave him the puppet, he instinctively tapped that one first, and its window expanded to show detailed information.
-This skill passively allows the character to use a Control Bar and Puppet in battle at the cost of an off-hand equip. Control bars count as one-handed equips, but can be used two-handed. A puppet may be controlled with one hand but its attack speed will be reduced by 50%.
“So, this skill cuts the puppet's speed in half when I'm one-handing its bar. Now, then...” His eyes drifted to the two Summon Follower skills. Inanimate items were one thing; living, breathing creatures were something else entirely. If those skills really did allow him to summon a follower, he would have the absolute proof he was looking for.
However, the more he wanted to activate them, the more his hand shook. Another possibility gnawed at him, one he recalled from a DS game series known as Devil Survivor: the summon could take the first chance to kill him so that they can stay in this world instead of going back to the one from which they came. What if the Summoner system here ran on similar logic, and he had to beat the summon up first to exert his authority on them?
Driven by that fear, he decided to make all possible preparations first. After all, better safe than sorry.
First, he equipped his Apprentice Grimoire in his paper doll's right hand, and a thin book with a faded red cover materialized in his actual right hand. Fortunately, it had instructions that taught novice casters like him how to fire a spell with a max range of two meters while having it equipped.
Next, he had to find someone to help him out. The first person he spotted had long, green hair and was identified as an Adventurer. Hoping that she wouldn't flee like the others, he approached her from the side, making sure there was a good meter between them before greeting her. “Pardon me, miss. Can you help me?”

I'm using in-story leveling for my posts in this thread. Zivvy started this post as Summoner Level 2, and he will hit Summoner Level 4 after approaching Neferata.
Colors in this post: Dialogue within normal earshot. System items.
If you ran out of interaction ideas and want me to introduce one of my Landers to stimulate the thread, please say so in your next post's notes.
