She appeared somewhere before what looked like a rundown general store and a large crossing area in the road. Sadly she had little knowledge of what London looked like beyond going through the airport once some odd 20 years ago. Everything looked overgrown so it wouldn't have matter too much, the girl surmised, and tried to take in more of what exactly was around her. The sky overhead looked sunny in a welcoming fashion but threatening clouds seen on the edge of the city ensured that it would be short lived. The temperate was cooler than she was used to as well with her arms hugging the cloth robe hung about her person. In hand was a slender pole made of some cheap but sturdy lumber with a metal head at the top that was flat on one side then spiked slightly on the opposite; a starter great hammer of all things.
"Might rain. No surprise there," she exhaled and started walking to find where she was and any landmarks that could be found. Something like a tall clock tower or some massive building for shelter, anything that looked really big and absolutely important. There are many abandoned buildings to choose from in the first place which left it up to her that by the time the rain does break from above, just anything will do. As her steps paced the aged dystopia streets did her eyes fall upon various people who stood around the same as she had. Nothing of joy appeared on their faces. Even her own face didn't reflect a sort of pleasure to be here now. The cold may have started something but the atmosphere was a muted hush for such a densely populated zone.
'I should go somewhere safe. Their eyes are starting to feel uncomfortable.'
The girl took a right at the next cross road to find another girl about her age and height. They seemed friendly enough and had a less dower look about them. "Excuse me, do you know a rest stop anywhere?" The girl turned to her and sized her up before answering for the sake of putting the question to bed. "Down thata ways is a main fork. An abbey is there, open to anyone. Stay safe out there, miss elf," she spoke and quickly walked away with a confused 'elf' girl gazing at her fleeing steps.
'She called me an elf? Thought my cousins were jokers but, really?'
She pondered self-consciously before removed her hands from her arms to trace out her ears. Rather than round fleshy things but long and delicate feeling ears were felt. Warm but slightly cold from exposure. The girl inhaled deeply in shock and decided to tug at them gently. They hurt. They're real. Hasty images flashed through her head as she held her ear tips. Pictures of home and sitting at her laptop looking at the game screen for Elder Tale came to mind, her hand clicking the scroll bars of all the races and designing a cute looking elf to be her character. "No... way. How..?" Her hands went from tugging her ears to clenching the sides of her head just to make sense of it all. Is this a dream? How was she even seeing just fine without her glasses? Did she just enter the game? That's some crazy VR stuff right there and she didn't even buy anything! Her hands tried to life up what might be the imaginary VR helmet on her head but all of that fell through her fingers were strands of lavender hair.
"Nothin'." She groaned. Trying to figure this out alone wasn't going to help anything but, frankly, she had no one to talk to. The people around her looked in dire straits to homeless hobos from the way they sat on broken sidewalks. Something about these people didn't feel 'safe' as they spoke in hushed tones to themselves. Further down the street could she hear some harsh bellows. "Where's the GM!? Hello!" They demanded. So she was stuck in a game? She sighed again and resumed what guidance she had to work off of toward this abbey the girl told her. With eyes half closed and her hammer resting on her shoulders, she tried to think of what else she could gather just to focus less on the people around her. The next thing that came to mind was what to name the person she is now. If this is a game, and that’s a large if, then it is most likely people will call her by her game name upon seeing her. Yes. Now what was her odd ball name? Ah, yes.
