[attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox1"] Assuming that, like most MMOs, no one would ever care what he looked like Alan spent little to no time on his avatar and thus looks like one of the standard presets the game had to offer... a mistake he immediately regretted after becoming stuck within the game. Now bearing a close resemblance to a myriad of generic warrior npcs throughout the game he's done his best to stand out through deed rather than style. Over the years his garb has changed little other than a tool belt he added upon learning alchemy though his clothes remain in good, if a tad worn out, condition and a fair portion of his income goes into ensuring thus. Few things irk the man more than shoddy or unkempt clothes. Alan doesn't like to move around more than he has to, preferring to spend time staring out into space and thinking rather than anything else. To that end his movements both in combat and out are decisive but lack grace as he tries to minimize the amount of work he actually has to put into any given task. | [attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox1"] Alan is a static (perhaps even lazy) creature at heart, preferring to spend his time staring out into space with his own thoughts over almost everything else. Not necessarily antisocial or particularly introverted, the biggest obstacle regarding social interaction is convincing himself that he needs to talk at all. In a world of (relatively) unkillable heroes, what could he possible offer that a thousand other people couldn't? Despite his lethargic tendencies he had a deep sense of loyalty to his friends and has a particular fondness for people of the land after how much they helped him in the first days after being sealed into the game. When interacting with others he is a good listener but has a difficult time expressing his own opinions, especially if they conflict with those around him. He actively tries to engage and help others but his inability to commit to any given side of an argument often gives him the appearance of being slow and indecisive. Alan's sole driving goal is that deep down, below the layers of disinterest and sloth, he wants to be a hero. He wants to help people and be someone they can look up to... but that takes a lot of work and work isn't something he enjoys, a conflict he ponders frequently in his copious free time. |

Alan grew up as a ward of court, never knowing his biological parents. A string of physically abusive and negligent foster homes left him bitter at a young age and he quickly developed an addiction to any sort of escapism. Books, music and especially video games became his coping mechanisms for life but the need to constantly be somewhere other than real life left him ill equipped to develop or maintain the social links expected of him.
Throughout his teenage years he swung wildly between isolating himself in his escapes or lashing out at those who tried to take them away. This eventually reached its peak when he assaulted his foster sibling in a fit of rage when they unplugged a game system he'd immersed himself in, causing him to be sent to a juvenile detention facility for his last few pre-adult years.
After getting out of the facility he didn't fare much better. Without resources and with only an overworked social worker to help him he struggled to find a job and place to live eventually finding shelter in a tenement in Middlesbrough and getting a job in one of the poorly kept chemical facilities in the area.
Poor living and working conditions combined with miserable pay pushed Alan back into the escapes he'd been cut off from for years. He spent every penny he could on arcades that boasted machines that could run bootleg versions of Elder Tale, immersing himself into the fictitious world whenever he could. Eventually the place got enough money to get several trial versions of Renaissance in the Unfounded Kingdom and Alan dropped everything and waited for hours before the arcade opened so he could be the first to try. Upon booting up the game and creating a character something went wrong and he found himself trapped within the game world.

[attr="class","skillbox1"]
Ballad of the Gullible Snail - Tier 1 -Andante skill. A song that causes the very atmosphere itself to appear lethargic for the enemy. It generates a moderate amount of aggro on the Bard, so one must be careful on the timing of this skill. On use, a distorted spiral effect will appear around a target, affecting up to 10 enemies within 10 meters of the Bard. Affected enemies have their movement speed reduced by 50% and animation times increased by 1 second. This skill has a casting time of 3 seconds, a debuff duration of 20 seconds, and a cooldown of 45 seconds.
Battle Tempo effect: While in Andante/Adagio, the casting time is reduced to 2 seconds and the duration is increased to 30 seconds.
Lullaby of the Moonlit Mermaid - Tier 1 -Andante skill. A support song that has a mild area of effect range. One key concept to remember is that depending on the difference between the Bard and the enemy's level, it will take some time before the target succumbs to the skill. When used, an aqua-blue ripple effect will occur and an image of a singing mermaid will appear over the head of the caster. Popular uses for this skill involve a sleep lock, a sequence in which the target is put to sleep, followed by the Bard's party members aiming their attacks all at the same time, which is then followed by a recasting of other sleep skills to initiate a relapse. This skill has a casting time of 3 seconds, a maximum duration of 10 seconds, and a cooldown of 30 seconds.
Battle Tempo effect: While in Andante, this skill has a cooldown of 20 seconds. While in Adagio, this skill has a cooldown of 15 seconds.
Phantom Ensemble - Tier 1 - Untempoed skill. The user plays an oppressive song that generates an air current from the musical instrument, which blows up to a radius of 1.5 meters from the bard. The closer an opponent gets within the radius, the stronger the wind is and the more likely they would be blown away unless they are strong enough to withstand the effect. Most moderately-sized enemies wind up being knocked back about 3 meters by this skill's effect. Continuously using this skill drains MP at an extremely fast rate, so it's best used only as an emergency defense. This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds the moment it is interrupted.
Battle Tempo effect: While in Andante/Adagio, MP is drained more slowly so this skill can be sustained longer. While in Allegro/Presto, the knockback effect is doubled.

Battle Perception - Level 1 - Toggle skill. Battle perception allows the Pathfinder to notice nearby monsters more easily by displaying their names and levels above their heads. It allows the Pathfinder to detect monsters about 3 meters further than a normal character, and is most useful for preventing ambushes.

If [Equipment Mastery: Magical] is already learned through racial or class bonuses, Magitech damage increases by 10%.
