Learning the Trade; Glassblowing
Quest Giver: Sakura Edano, Hedric Salvadeer
Quest Level:
Level 1
Location:
Blossom Needle, The Glass Swan
Objectives
- Discover the Glass Swan- Perhaps you simply find the glassblower's shop on your own, wandering the streets of Londinium. Barring that, Sakura has a small shelf in her shop lined with small, graceful glass creatures that she bought from Hedric.
- Convince Hedric to Teach You- The man is sour to Adventurer's as the riots drove away the nobility, which served as the majority of his customer base. Perhaps in a display of stubbornness, or a different kind of appeal to his wallet, you must convince Hedric the Glassblower to teach you.
- Stock and Watch- Of course, he isn't going to let you near his furnace at first. Your job is to watch for now, and to get the supplies he needs.
- Practice- No one is perfect, but Hedric expects the best. Expect to make the same thing over and over again until he's satisfied of your skills.
- Graduation- You've made it through the grueling heat and constant criticism. You're ready to be a glassblower. For the service of teaching you, you are expected to work at the shop for a while in repayment.
Description
The Artisan crafting class covers a variety of different things. Glassbowing is one such skill, and it is very much a skill. Unlike painting and drawing, it requires certain facilities to practice, which aren't available to every low-level adventurer. Craftsmen often provide not only the training, but also the facilities to practice the craft, in exchange for these apprentices working for them for a while to repay the debt. Hedric practices glassblowing, creating windows and decorative glass works. Normally, he would take on an apprentice without too much fuss, but he has a bit of a grudge against Adventurer's as their arrival prompted the majority of his client base (the nobility) to vacate the city. It might take some convincing to get the hard nosed man to take you on as an apprentice, but once he does, he'll make sure you have the training you need.... For better or for worse.
