Aeon had yet again taken to the murky swamps, this time equipped in his new combat equipment he was prepared for stronger fights, his target was Swamp Crocodiles, he had planned to research them the best he could.
Today was the standard from good old Great Britain, Aeon had his hood up and wrapped himself in his cloak as he trod his way through the uneven and boggy ground of the swamp in search for his prey.
The rain fell down lightly in a constant drizzle as it dissolved into and ran off his cloak, he had done much research and enjoyed his medieval stuff when he was younger and even into his recent years and had looked at the theory behind how cloaks would work for keeping the rain off you, they were far better than your standard plastic rain coat that would run water onto your legs as it slid off its waterproof coating, a cloak worked by absorbing some water but also reflecting your heat you expelled outwards back towards you and thus keeping you warm, it only absorbed a certain amount of water before it couldn’t absorb any more and it would leave the rest to roll of its bumpy surface so you got slow drips of water dropping off the outside of it.
With the rain it seemed as if the swamp had come to life more, it was filled with the sounds of critters, chirping and what sounded like the clicking of crickets as they rub there back legs together. The sounds of Frogs and Toads as the produced what could be mating calls as it would make sense to breed when it was raining as it would more likely disguise your scent and also give you area’s where rain has pooled to store the young like some Amazonian species of frog would keep a tadpole inside a specific plants leaves where water regularly builds up as it provides them with lots of protection.
If the creatures in this game did actually breed it would be rather interesting, if the wildlife had a cycle and seasons where new young would be produced, Aeon wondered how it worked with the People of the Land to if they had children or if the just died and never repopulated after they died off. What if creatures seemed to breed as well that could explain the reason of “respawning” for creatures why you would always have some to fight as new ones would be produced by others and thus you have a cycle where adventurers have creatures to slay, of course in theory you could exterminate a species that way, it would be an interesting thing to try if you could get the man power to pull it off, hunting down every fully grown creature and slaying it, of course Aeon had never seen a baby creature so far, he had seen nests of Ember Newt’s but then by standard they would guard there nest’s and attack anything that got to close, maybe it was just for show or maybe it had some physical reasoning behind it.
Aeon moved even deeper into the swamp searching for the creatures of his level and higher, he had heard rumours of a great creature that was a merger of many mighty beast that was flanked by swamp crocodiles, its size was huge it sounded from the rumours that it could well be the area boss of this area, it would be a great adversary to face, maybe it would provide him with some great items, the rumours seemed to state that its hide was interesting as it was a mix of creatures, it would be brilliant to acquire its hide, make a cloak out of it as a display to show it had been slain, maybe you could make other fine artefacts from it to or maybe some fancy loot the potential of what you could gain from taking down such a creature was interesting.
Aeon seemed to reach an area where the swamps became less boggy and swampier with large sections of water in different areas, where things seemed to occasionally disturb the black murky surface of the water before rapidly diving below out of view back into the murky depths. This would be where in his mind the beasts would lurk area’s so dark in the water you could sit and wait through the day like crocodiles do eyes just breaking the surface waiting for your prey to come, As their prey comes to the water’s edge to drink the attack lunging from the water using surprise to their advantage clamping on and dragging them into the water to death roll, tearing off chunks of flesh as crocodiles can’t chew thus had to tear meat from the bones of their prey.
Aeon knew this was the place he would expect to find what he was after, casting his Force Shield his Armour seemed to improve it the blue bubble seemed thicker and more reactive that before maybe it was an effect from his armour due to the enchant or maybe it was because his power was increasing. Rain pattered off the shield running down over it.
He drew his sword casting Thunderbolt Crash as he stalked for his prey.
Picking up a stray branch that sat upon the ground, Aeon approached the water’s edge, beginning to smash the branch upon its surface to cause vibrations in the water.
Mostly crocodiles would attack from the front, but when this one launched its assault it choose the side, as it clamped its teeth into the sides of Aeon’s boots and tried to drag him into the water as it pulled him off his feet to the floor.
Aeon quickly activated blink moving himself backwards and out of the beasts jaws, for getting dragged into the water would mean an end, as the creature would begin to death roll where your escape from its death trap would be impossible, you did not want to fight a creature where it had the advantage over you, for not being a creature of the water meant he would be at a massive disadvantage to the crocodile.
The aggro still kept up as the creature waded its way out of the water hulking its massive scaly hide onto the muddy ground, its tail was bony and scaled and about 4ft long, its jaws came out about a foot, and the talons on its claws where about 4 inches long and an inch or more thick.
Aeon prepared for his battle casting Serpents Bolt on himself as the beast closed, Aeon kept his distance as his spell began to charge, counting in his head as it reached its time to pulse, Aeon made his attack trying to follow him striking with the overload of the Serpents bolt.
The creature snapped as Aeon sliced at its head across its eye. As the Serpentine Bolts arced out around him.
As Teeth and Blade and Electricity met the wet beast, there was a sudden extremely loud crackle as the electricity funnelled through the creature’s body as the blade slid down its hide.
Electricity seemed to arc bouncing all across its bony body, as the beast let out a large hiss as the shocks passed across its body.
The creature stepped back as this occurred maybe through shock of the sudden high damage it received, it seemed this beast was weak to Electricity, Aeon’s spec he had built himself to. As Aeon moved in for the kill more crocodiles seemed to emerge from the water, now wasn’t the time to continue to fight bringing to many would mean death it was time to scarper.
