[attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox1"] In her pervious there was little to distinguish Dawn from any other girl. She was passably attractive in the right light - short, but all soft curves and a soft, sweet face - but otherwise painfully average in every way. Flourescent-pale and slightly chubby, with short brown hair and brown eyes. She favors the jeans-and-t classic look, paired with beat up sneakers and the occasional flash of cheap jewelry. The character she chose for Elder Tale is something else entirely: Over seven feet of tawny-furred muscle and power, broad-shouldered and golden-eyed. The lion to Dawn's mouse, he moves with ease and confidence - not the power that controls the room, but the warmth and ease of one who has no fear. In battle his heavy plate shines from regular cleaning, each leather strap and bit of chain meticulously perfect from being checked again and again. On the other hand, off of the battlefield Auri prefers brightly colored, geometrically patterned fabrics, matching the glass beads in many colors in his mane, and a belt strung with hammered bronze bangles. He carries himself more gently, perhaps more aware of his bulk without a mace in his hand and an enemy in his sights. | [attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox1"] Dawn only answers to "Auri" - the name of her avatar, the form she now wears as if she were born in it. Her sense of self muddled up in the sudden shock of a body that was too tall and saw and smelled too much. Her gentleness and kindness remain, but she refuses to acknowledge the world before except when forced to do so. She has a bitter streak, a deep dissatisfaction with the cruelties and injustices of the world. Dawn sees herself as weak, and her most basic needs as weakness. There is nothing she desires to destroy more than herself, and given the chance... she did. There are few who get such a thorough chance to reinvent themselves. Auri though - Auri is all warmth, all confidence. Though not a class in Elder Tale, "he" is a Paladin through and through. No matter how many times he gets knocked down he stands again, ready to throw himself into the fray once more. He laughs freely and openly shows affection to his friends and allies, and is equally frank in his distrust or disgust towards his enemies. There is good and evil in this world just as much as the last, and whose shield will protect the weak if not his own? As one of those who joined the server when it was still in chaos, he's well aware of the evils people can commit, and is gentle-natured enough to be deeply disgusted by it. He holds grudges, and is self-righteous enough to back it up with a trip to the Cathedral... no matter how high level the player is in relation to him, no matter how many time he has to roll off the slab and start fighting again. He can come across as a bit clumsy at times, swinging too wide or bumping his head on things, but that’s common in the larger adventurers. It wouldn’t be nearly so bad if he didn’t tend to get flustered and make the situation worse... When it comes to battle, he’s no analyst, but he has a certain amount of instinct that lets him read the lay of the land. Unfortunately he tends to get caught up in the heat of battle, and doesn't always wait to see if his party has grasped the situation as quickly, or if they're even keeping up. As a result when in a party he needs a strong personality to reel him in from time to time, or else all bets are off. Auric’s identity allows Dawn to be her best self, the self she would most like to be, but during times of stress the mask tends to crack. After particularly nasty deaths “he” becomes more negative and more likely to get snappish over minor irritations. She does eventually spring back, but the question of whether she’ll ever let go of “Auric” and accept herself - her flaws, her strengths - remains. |

Dawn was the only child of divorced parents, a doctor and a teacher, who each had little time for their child. She made her father's excuses; She had her mother's self-righteousness. They hardly spoke once the marriage started falling apart under the weight of a pair of hero complexes, but there was one thing they unknowingly agreed on: Dawn resembled the other parent far too much. They had plenty of time to save one soul after another, but all too little for the stranger in their own home. She bore the weight of their grudges against one another, and it wounded her more deeply than they could know.
They cared for her truly, but it was often a distant, almost obligatory love. Dawn drew her own conclusions and from a young age she was convinced she was an irritant, unwelcome. This she knew with the certainty of a child's logic, and it became one of the foundations of her identity. Others came first and she came second, always. As she aged this caused her to withdraw, gradually finding the balance between friendliness and distance that didn't cause concern in her teachers and peers. She kept her appearance neat and her grades up, and she was free to immerse herself in her interests with little interference. They lived in the city and her school was huge. She was just another in a sea of faces, and if the underpaid and overworked staff noticed that Dawn was too clever for the perfectly average grades she was getting... well, they had bigger fish to fry. She wasn't particularly loved nor hated by her classmates, or interesting enough to be a source of rumors. Dawn may as well have been a ghost, untouched by the world and leaving no trace in her wake.
For Dawn escapism was the name of the game. At first it was fantasy novels, then tv series and comic books. However she didn’t meet her true love until she picked up her first video game. It was an old classic, a gift from her dad after missing yet another school event. The dusty console was yellowed with age in places, the once-bright casing cracked deeply down the front. In the years that followed she could close her eyes and remember it all sharp and smooth under her fingers. “Luke and the Flute of Time, it was my favorite,” he’d said, ruffling her when she wrinkled her nose, even though at thirteen was far too old for such things, “give it a shot.”
All sorts of games came and went - MMORPGS, RPGS, shooters, dating sims, puzzle games - she consumed them all with an almost ravenous hunger. It was, in short, her life. There were other interests, a short lived venture into baking, an attempt at learning how to sew, but in the end she always went back to her old mainstay. Aside from the guilds she joined here and there her only friend was her cat, a three-legged orange tabby named Sir Pounce. Pounce would curl in her lap when she played, barely flicking an ear even when she shouted with defeat. He was the warm, purring presence tucked up under her chin late at night, when sleep finally crept up on her unawares.
The only time she willingly went out otherwise was to work at a computer repair shop to support her hobby, which gave her a pretty good grasp of the inner workings of machines. It got to the point that she built a custom rig piece by piece in order to better support the high-end games she was playing. The rig was Dawn's pride and joy - a wall of monitors she built between herself and the real world. Here she was safe. Here she was in control. The fickle gamer didn't settle on one game until she found a battered copy of Elder Tale in a box of her dad's things.
Dawn wasn’t impressed when she first logged in. The graphics were losing their shine, the interface was outdated, and the NPCs were irritating. There was one difference that kept her logging back in again and again, even when the unfamiliar battle system had her growling with frustration. Elder Tale was full of people who loved it without reserve or defensive cynicism. The developers were still there, loyally releasing an expansion a year. Here at last was the warmth she craved, and she latched on with singular focus. Here she could be the bright figure she wished she could be, and here she could have the relationships she wanted so badly, however brief or shallow they were.
When the new server was announced she put in her pre-order immediately, one of the few members of her loosely-associated guild to do so.

[blackjack:] who wants to start all over on a new server anyways
[blackjack:] plus i haven’t been hardcore like you guys for ages
[EatMyDust:] That price tag hurts my wallet.. Maybe after the price drops….

Of course Dawn wasn’t deterred. She put every bit she could save into buying the game, and spent even longer deciding on the character she was going to make based on previews, secret trailers, and data-mined spoilers. In the end she just made a new guardian, Auric, to get used to the new monsters with a familiar play style. She was parked in front of her PC that fateful night, waiting for a new world to open up .
Next thing she knew, she was awakening in an unfamiliar body under a strange sun.

Main Class: Guardian
[attr="class","skillbox1"]
Anchor Howl - Tier #1 - A loud sound wave is generated from the Guardian's position, encompassing the surrounding 5 meters in radius. This causes movement speed away from the Guardian to lower the farther away a target is. As a result, some might attempt to make a run for it by either dashing or jumping. These two actions trigger the second part of this skill, which delivers a heavy counter to punish a retreating foe. It effectively serves as a way to maintain the enemy's attention on the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 3 seconds [1/2 Post], maximum duration of 10 seconds [1 1/2 Post], and a cooldown of 30 seconds [5 Posts]. If the Guardian moves from their initial position, this skill is canceled.
Resilience - Tierl #1 - A passive ability of the Guardian. Due to their highly defensive class role, their HP regenerates faster outside of battle compared to other classes. Additionally, they regenerate a small amount of HP within battle, every couple of seconds. This passive battle healing is not very high, but it might prove to save one's life in the long run.
Garrison Force - Tier #1 - Upon activation of this skill, the Guardian's current HP is reduced by 10% of their maximum HP. Cannot be used if the Guardian's HP is less than 10%. The Guardian then gains an additional HP bar, labeled as 'Armor' with a value of roughly 10% of their maximum HP. When the Guardian's Armor bar is above 0, any damage taken will first be applied to Armor before affecting HP. If a character has not taken any damage for 10 seconds [1 1/2 Post], Armor will gradually increase until it is fully restored after 10 seconds [1 1/2 Post]. If Barrier Armor is used on the Guardian while this skill is active, the two effects add onto each other and thus the Guardian's Armor bar will be 15% of their maximum HP. Garrison Force's duration is indefinite, but if the Guardian's Armor bar should ever drop to 0, it is canceled. Garrison Force has a casting time of 2 seconds [1/3 Post] and a cooldown of 10 seconds [1 1/2 Post]. At Level 45, Garrison Force may be cast on a party member but it will still cost the Guardian's HP to cast.
