Plotline Participation
the world keeps spinning, even as we stop
The Plot is a core feature of a Roleplay Forum, as it brings together interaction between a bunch of members in one place and allows for the Staff to interact with you all directly through NPCs, Bosses, and Monsters. It also allows us to judge various systems in a more hands-on experience. But, Plot Lines are very important not just because they allow for Forum-Wide Fun and interesting interactions, but because it is the core lore of the site. The Plot is generated with a plan in mind for us to follow through with, and it's a way for the Staff to give the world a story. The benefit to this is giving the Roleplay a real reason to exist aside from "let's write some stories together and make quests". While that is the goal, to make a story, it gives us a purpose to actually continue to Roleplay. The core plot line gives people a reason to keep playing and to keep evolving their characters, as the Plot Quests are where all of that hard work comes to fruition. Developing those Connections with the NPCs allows the Staff to adjust how they interact with you, your interactions with other players determines the groups you get placed into, and how the monsters fight you is also determined by the quests you've picked.
Two examples of this would be the active, bubbly Cleric versus the vicious Assassin. NPCs will be a lot kinder to the Cleric, monsters may not attack them as much, and the overall experience will be less intense. For the Assassin, NPCs might be a bit colder or distant, monsters will attack in greater ferocity, and the Raid will seem to be targeting you and wanting you to die. This is because of the way you have chosen to affect the world. Your decisions have meaning, keep that in mind when playing certain characters! Oh, and no that is not me telling everyone to be bubbly Clerics who love every one. That's me telling you that if you're a murderer, you will be seen as a murderer.
But, before any of that can really happen. Each player must be made aware of a certain few pieces of information and some rules. These are set up so that the Staff can really keep a good track and handle on your activity on the forum, and it helps us understand how NPCs and other players interact with you. The following guidelines help us do that;
- You must have an actively updated REP Tracking Thread. If your thread is not kept up to date with your rewards, we as the Staff will not be able to actively judge how the NPCs will interact with you.
- You must be apart of a Society in order to participate in a Plot Quest. If you do not, you may find yourself not being able to join in some of the more important parts. Societies have a key role in Plot Development!
- You must remain active in order to participate. If you have not posted at least twice in the current month, you may not be able to participate in the plot events. In plot threads themselves, you are expected to post at the pace of the thread. The pace is generally state in the thread requirements by it will vary between two posts a week to as long as one post a month.
- Activity in general is actually very necessary. Players who are unable to post actively and keep pace with the plot threads may find themselves shorted at the end of the thread. However, any small contribution is helpful! So don't count yourself out if you find yourself having issues. Always contact the Staff in the event that you are uncertain of your ability to stay active.
- You must meet the required Level for the Plot Quests. If you are too low, or too high, you will be unable to participate in the Quests. There are exceptions to this rule, however. Apprentices and Mentors are allowed to enter plot events if they are within 5 levels of the caps. But, their participation will be extremely limited and they are expected to remain with their partner at all times. Any deviations will lead to them likely getting offed by the DM.
