[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]Thestalos [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Robert Anderson [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 16 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Nothing definite [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Hachiman Hikigaya, Yahari Ore No Seishun Love Come Wa Machigatteiru [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: TheOutrageousAtlantean [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] What most people notice first about Robert are his 'dead fish' eyes. Whether through sheer luck or the universe having a giggle, these eyes resembling those of the corpse of a cold-blooded creature fit him rather well, given the perpetual scowl present on his face. The eyes are a a fairly dark shade of brown, but what concerns most people is the expression in them. Robert's black hair is usually kept relatively tidy - in that it is kept straight whenever he has the time to manage it. Despite his best efforts, however, single cowlick always manages to escape his wrath, and along with various other things, has become the bane of his existence. Robert is neither built powerfully, nor is he built athletically. Robert is not built like someone to be scared of or admired. Robert is built thinly, to the point where it actually looks a little unhealthy. Even in the virtual world, Robert does not look like anyone special, with a physique that stops him from standing out much, if at all. This inconspicuous body type and his rather average height, combine with his posture and various other mannerisms to make him stand out even less in the crowd. Robert slouches - not that much, but enough to obscure his face slightly. He does what he can to make himself seem smaller, like keeping his arms to his sides whenever possible, and keeping his gait just fast enough to avoid contact, but slow enough to avoid drawing attention. In short, he holds less of a presence than a speck of dust on a table surface. He's basically not there until you focus on him. Regarding clothing, Robert continues the 'Invisible Man' style by wearing the plainest clothing he can find. Some players would take the opportunity to wear something fancy, something to show off and look fabulous. Robert usually carries two sets of armour with him - one for battle, and one that's so plain and common you wouldn't glance at him twice. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] From the outset, Robert appears to be the kind of person you'd generally try to leave alone. It's not that people avoid him, mind - it's that there's an immediate understanding that he prefers his own company. It doesn't matter where he is - a tavern, out in the field, a pit full of fluffy animals. Hell always exude the kind of air only extreme loners are capable of. some swear that his is so powerful that the weak-minded are actually subconsciously repelled by it, while it leaves a strong impression on those able to resist its effects. Robert himself dismisses these notions but does not deny that he wishes them to be true. That's not to say he can't work with others, though - it's just that he prefers not to do it. If he needs to, he'll team up with someone, sometimes of his own volition. He won't try to make friends, and doesn't expect them to try and make friends with him. He'll just get what he needs and leave. He only ever teams up to get something done, but does his best to work for the team's benefit when he does. After all, he's not malicious - he's just bad at socialising. That, and he sees no point in building up a bad reputation, when he can't hide his identity. Engage him in conversation, and you'll quickly find he doesn't like it. If, by some miracle or use of a skill, you can manage to get him to talk to you, Robert will prove to be rather bitter about... Well, pretty much everything. Simply put, he's a pessimist. Even if victory is certain, he'll still point out that there'll always be a chance for things to go down south. It doesn't matter if the situation is appropriate or not - Robert always thinks on the negative side. While this annoys most people to no end, he doesn't see it as much of a curse or a blessing. Beneath all the cynical sturm und drang, however, lies the heart of a good man. Sure, he's bitter, pessimistic, terrible at socialising, and appears - for all intents and purposes - to be a jerk, but he's not actually that bad of a person. When he thinks nobody's looking, or when he thinks the word won't spread, he'll do what's right - which isn't always what's most practical. He thinks the world's a terrible place. He sees greed, corruption, distrust, hatred... He sees the worst humanity has to offer him. And yet, he still does what he can to help. It's not that he thinks he'll make a difference. He just doesn't like being a bad guy. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] As a small child, Robert was given everything he needed to grow into a big, strong, healthy boy. Loving parents with stable jobs, a little sister who was only hostile to him when he took her favourite flavour of ice lolly out of the freezer before her, and a house in an area that was fairly quiet. When he went to play with other small children his age, he acted in the way that you would expect any child under the age of five to - strangely, with reckless abandon, but he gradually got better over time. In short, no abusive childhood. However, it is worth noting that Robert was raised to be polite. While this alone is not of much interest, how he was taught politeness is a different matter. He was taught the basic please/thank you routine, but it went a lot further than that. See, even at a young age, Robert had quite a mouth on him, and would argue whenever he could. This - naturally - got him into trouble. His parents decided to reign him in, but took it too far. Robert, whenever he so much as offered an opinion on a subject, was told not to say anything further. Over the years, he became less and less expressive. in fact, it got to the point where he became unable to do so much as smile without fear of reprisal. People wondered what was wrong with him - but he always brushed people off, not wanting to say anything about how he felt. He became something of an automaton, just coasting along, getting through life. He had his opinions, his dreams, everything - it was just that he was the only one who knew them, and even when someone else would ask about them, he'd avoid the subject. This tendency to keep everythign to himself would prove his downfall. The quiet kid who never bothered anyone was a prime target for bullies. Someone who kept his problems to himself, who'd just take abuse and wouldn't fight back. People often say that bullies want a reaction, or that they're doing it for a reason. The truth - for these ones, at least - was far simpler. They knew what they were doing hurt Robert. They knew he wouldn't do anything that could incriminate them. So they kept attacking him. It was never anything physical - there couldn't be any evidence. But the words scarred him. They scarred him deeper than any knife could. It was only natural that Robert sought different forms of refuge - usually ones that let him escape reality's cruel sting. He became embroiled in fantasy, in sci-fi, even in some select works of historical fiction. He imagined himself as those characters, someone far greater than he was. But there was one form of escape that he favoured the most - gaming. Because, when he was gaming, it didn't matter who he was. He could be a plumber saving a princess, a trained marine taking on a terrorist organisation... Hell, he could be anything. And it felt like those people cared about him. It felt like they appreciated him, that they wanted to hear what he had to say. He felt like he mattered. It was only a matter of time before he became enthralled with Elder Tale - an exceptional game, one that allowed him to be someone else entirely. He liked this. He stayed alone, but he never felt alone. It always felt like people weren't just waiting for him to blindly agree. To him, the Catastrophe was a good thing - it meant he could stay in a world that needed him, rather than one that left him empty.
