So, as with any site that functions on the necessity of mod work, there will and always will be a point of backlog.
Issue is rather normal and, for those of you who knew me / worked with me on previous sites, you know I'm pretty well versed in how much this problem sucks.
An idea/solution: Member helpers.
The idea is that members can sign up to help in specific areas and get "pay" / "reward" for doing so.
A prime example would be hiring two members to specifically go through and do AP Claims; the exact same work the mods would do, but... well, the members doing it. I've seen this work pretty successfully on a few sites I've been on, and while it does entail a certain modicum of trust and respect, it really helps lay the pressure off of mods so they can focus on more pressing matters, like site plots and advertising and the like.
Rough idea is rough but made so that you guys can do with it what you will.

I don't know how stuff works, but if helps, here are a few suggestions of what member helpers can do if there's an extra mechanic to AP granting aside from word counts (such as reading to make sure no one OPs or whatever): 1. Check claims section for errors (like in AP computations/missing AP distribution) 2. Help store site data3. Man the cbox, like an unofficial support team to answer questions if need arises. They can also list complaints/bug reports if there are people who are (for some reason) unable to post in the support forum themselves. 4. Maintain a comprehensive member list/database. E.g. a spreadsheet with all relevant details (name, cbox name, class, craftclass, rpclass, class levels, guild, etc) and separate lists to contain people who have /ever/ had a crafting skill (like those who levelled one and switched over to a new one for whatever reason) 5. Routine market stuff, like adding Call of Home skill or shop equipment to profiles, facilitating player trades, etc. Crafting new equipment sounds like it should still be an admin's job to prevent cheating and stuff. 6. Maybe maintain a master AP claim thread for each person? Keeps track of a person's claimed threads and posts rather than having to go through several threads to see if a certain post has already been claimed. A plugin would've been better (I'm pretty sure there's one that lets people add a reason for modifying something, so it doesn't seem too farfetched), but if you have the manpower, why deprive people of their stuff? Out of other ideas for the moment.

Another thing that might be in the vein of Member Helpers is people who mentor other players, like get them used to the system, get them introduced into roleplay and such. Might be nice.

Or just in general get people to work off the Ap/Crafting/Ressearch claims that are backed up to no end? just anything in that department

maybe also so we can run dungeons in terms of how MMO dungeons work so you go through a set of actions over rounds thus allowing players to do 1 post each for a large combat

I think you guys are going too far / getting ahead of yourselves with some of your ideas [we don't want to run entirely into the realm of the mod's job], but yeah, glad to see the idea has garnished support and notice.
