If you read the rules in the preview post, you know what to expect. For those that have not here is what is happening. We are adding in 2 new classes with a September updated. The Heretic and the Warden. The Heretic is a dark magic mage class that uses some new types of spells, mechanics and equipment. The warden is a medium armor, technology based class that also uses new mechanics and equipment. The contest is for members to design a new 3rd class to be added in with the other 2 the staff is designing. We ask that entries be sent to Data Holder via pm. They may also be posted in this thread. Keep in mind some entries have already been received and this thread will not be a complete list of entries. On August 22th, the entry period will close. The following day on the 23rd, a new final version thread will be created and it will also have a poll. members will be encouraged to vote in this poll and the winners will be the class that you all most want to see. Voting will end on the 28th, and the staff will take the winning class and prepare it for a full release a week later. As for rules of the contest, we ask that entries be kept more serious.
This is a guideline of what should be included in an entry.
Name- The class needs a name right?
Equipment- What kind of gear do they use? Armor, weapons? (everything is not an option)
Role- What is it that they do? Are they a healer, do they like to get smacked or help the party in other ways? How do they fit?
Lore- How did this class come to be? Version updates don't exist anymore so we need a reason to believe where the knowledge of this new profession came from. How do they fit in the world?
Skills- The meat of the class. We ask that you create 10-15 skills to give the class some flavor and ground to stand on. This is to establish the class
Balance- Everything comes at a price. You can't have a mage that heals as well as a cleric, wears plate armor and dual wields cannons. Think about why a class needs heavy armor and what it might have to sacrifice instead for it. No class can be exceptional at everything.
Art contest. Icon edition.
With the new classes, they are going to need icons. We ask that our artists make some icons to represent these new classes. We understand that the contest winning class won't be decided until later, and we will have another art contest for that icon as well. However it can be difficult without knowing more about the classes.
- Icons are asked to be made in a square as to fit with code. Look at the current class icons for reference
I'm betting you clicked even if you're not an artist, you naughty person. So for everyone, here is an equipment preview for the new classes.
Heretic-
Weapons: Dagger, Staff, Wand, Grimoire, Crystal Ball, Hex Doll
Armor: Cloth
Warden:
Weapons: Sword, Club, Pistol, Rifle, Magitech, Crossbow, Warden Shield (small/medium)
Armor: Warden armor (chain equivalent, special made by mechanics)
Prizes
We are offering what we call a veteran package to all winners and runner ups to the class contest. Winners will receive 20 AP on their main class and 10 on each of their subclasses. Runner up will get 15-10-10 and 3rd place will receive 10-5-5.
If the entry is a result of a team effort, the individual AP award will be bumped down one tier.
The Icon contest winners will receive 15-10-10.
All class entries will receive a special accessory as a thank you. All serious Art contest entries will also receive an accessory. (read as: 2 minutes in MS paint does not count)
Additionally the winners of the class and icon contest will receive early access to the new classes, a week before everyone else is allowed to create one. The AP awarded from this contest may be allocated to the new character.
Note- Class change potions are going to become available with the new classes. We have not yet decided on what prices or penalties might be for changing classes.
