A four-meter long centipede stood by its lonesome self a little way from the gates of Londinium. Every now and then, he would click his appendages as passers-by as if he was waving at them. He seemed to be trying to speak to the landers and adventurers that passed by, but few people could understand what he said and even fewer dared to approach him. Noticeably though, there was an ad that dangled from his neck. It seemed to have been scribbled by a non-scribe person, thus the handwriting was all but chicken scratch. They were written in bold letters though, so it was still readable: FEED ME Live animals only. Reward: 1,000 gold per animal eaten Now, this elite centipede belonged to the samurai Caerbannog. It wanted to eat a lot, as usual, but the samurai was working on the guild house and so she sent the creature off on his own. The only stern instruction that she had was that he was not to leave the safety of Londinium, so Foreman Mukade IX sat close to the gates just within the “safe zone”. Any person, lander or adventurer, who would hand him some live animals would be immediately reported by the centipede to his tamer, and the reward that would be accumulated was to be sent once the centipede was “full”. Mukade was a massive creature and once ate more than two whole crag cows. It would take a while for him to get ‘full’, but he did have some reservations. There were certain creatures that he would not eaten, and the adventurer or lander would have to get rid of that animal by himself. What those ‘forbidden’ animals were, they’d have to find out for themselves so it was perhaps in a person’s best interests to bring one of each kind rather than a lot of creatures of the same species. As for the demeanor of the centipede, he had always been quite the gentleman. He’d greet anyone who dared approached with a wave and a bow, and if attacked, he would rather defend and run away than get himself or his animal trainer in trouble. All he really wanted was a good meal though; being a creature of the wild, he was not used to eating cooked food save for the occasional sweets and cakes. Those were not nutritious or filling, however; so every now and then, Foreman Mukade IX required a living sacrifice to be offered to him. And so, there he waited close to the gates of Londinium. Mukade hoped that some nice person would actually give him something delicious to eat... and by delicious, he meant squirming and with bloody guts inside. The appearance did not matter; centipedes were blind after all. The smell or taste did not matter; centipedes had no taste buds or capacity to differentiate between good and bad smells. As long as it was warm and living and not amongst the creatures that he would never eat, then it would be acceptable.

It’s been ages since the Wolf Hair’s last venture. She couldn’t even call her previous encounter with the elegant ice queen a venture at all. She had been living out her days in the comfort of Shiranui’s quarters in the Avarice guild hall. The effeminate Fox Tail basically snuck her in like a stray puppy he found, something Aura was grateful for but found slightly odd. She’d only been there for a few day and apparently only the guild’s leader and Shiranui were the only residents. Aura would have thought the guild that owned the Tower of London would have had more members. It would definitely be easy to sneak around if there was only one person she needed to hide from. That girl has made more of a mess in this room than I ever could. Jeez. Tailoring equipment and cloth were scattered around the room. An old school desk painted beautifully and colorfully sat in the middle of the room with threading needles and scissors pinning a big unfinished banner with, what Aura assumed was the guild’s insignia on it. The name “Adler” written in a curvy font was painted onto the corner of the desk’s surface, probably the artisan who painted it. Earlier she woke up under the Fox Tail’s oddly sweet-smelling sheets with a bit of a hangover. The sight of the colorful desk made her think she was still drunk for a little bit. She slowly raised her head and suddenly felt a pounding. Honestly, she could not remember how much she had drank that night. There was a mug with something nasty-looking slime inside resting on a bedside stool. There was a note attached that read: “Please don’t break anything. I’ll be back some time in the evening. Also, I managed to trick Capsule into making a hangover cure or something. Just hold your nose and drink up! ♥ -Shira.” I guess it’s one of those drinks. Blegh. After taking a deep breath, she chugged the mug down as fast as she could. It tasted like leafy coffee sprinkled with mold. She exhaled heavily as she slammed the mug on the stool and accidentally smashed the stool and mug. It’s effects would probably kick in some time later. She dragged herself up and out of the Tower. She realized she actually needed money for food and that was something she didn’t have enough off… or any, for that matter. Punching a pig or five is probably enough for something to eat-- or does food with flavor cost more? Hm… As she exited Londinium through it’s massive gates, she spotted something that did not quite fit with the scenery: a large insect with some kind of sign hung around it’s… neck, I guess? If this were not a game, any normal person would steer clear of it and most girls would probably cringe at the sight of it. However, being the tomboy that Mavis was she had to admit even she played with bugs during her childhood. Whether it was a mob that needed a beating or an NPC (who may or may not need a beating), Aura was going to check it out. Either way, there was money to be earned.

[Aquila]

If there is one thing a true warrior desires, then it's to find an opponent that truly tests the limits of one's capacities. A warrior always searched for strong opponents, not just to prove themselves but because they believed there was always an opponent in the world that was stronger than them, a challenge they needed to overcome. In the end the moment one becomes a warrior they are on a journey to improve their skills until the day their warrior spirit dies, what often was the very moment of their death. For Aquila this was an ideal she followed quite strongly. Perhaps it was because of the fact that she had never played a video game before, that the young woman had chosen to spend more time within the safety of the city in order to learn the very foundations of what made up this world. In the end this reality she now lived in was originally a game. Seated on a small bench near one of the exits of Londinium when she overheard a group of adventurers chatting. It seemed that some giant monster showed up at the gates. While their conversation seemed mostly about the peculiar features of what seemed to be a giant insect the fact there seemed to be a message attached to it, left her intrigued. It didn't take her much effort to find the source of the rumors, and giant certainly fitted the bill well.

"Wow, it would take one giant shoe to squash a big guy like you..."

Tilting her head to the side at the peculiar centipede, it seemed rather fortunate that Laura had never really been frightened by insects, in fact a giant centipede seemed to interest her more, than it actually disgusted her. Looking at the sign posted around its neck the scribbled bolded letters made her chuckle out loudly. Did she seriously just stumble onto a Centipede who was going to pay her for catching its meal?

"Hah! Can't hunt on an empty belly, nor work on an empty belly! Well, I guess you wouldn't be able to do much with an empty belly at all... I'm not sure how in the world you plan to repay me for your meal, but I can smell the scent of adventure behind your request. Prepare yourself Big Guy, I'm gonna hunt your breakfast!"

Shifting her stance lightly the young woman grabbed the sheathed katana on her back and darted toward the woods. What would a Centipede eat? A big guy like that would likely enjoy something fresh and juicy, so perhaps something with meat? Of course that meant she would have to capture the thing alive... Pondering about the idea the girl had started her search for a fresh meal for the centipede. It happened that lady luck smiled upon her, for the sound of some snorts came from nearby, and a look away from the path revealed that in a nearby patch of grass a small boar was busily munching on the food mother nature provided to it.

"Keep your excitement under control Laura... We can't kill them, else there won't be food for the Centipede. Just weaken it and then... Guess we'll see at that time!"

Unsheathing her katana the girl tightened her grip on the weapon, her eyes narrowing in a focused glare when she suddenly darted forwards.

"Kabuto-Wari!"

A sudden increase in speed accompanied her shout, causing the boar to let out a startled cry. However, before it could flee away the girl's strike hit it squarely on the head, making the beast stagger lightly. Of course she couldn't rest just yet, it's health wasn't depleted enough for her to safely subdue it.

"Shunsen!"

Swiftly sweeping her katana sideways the girl's weapon released a vacuum wave of condensed air, striking the staggering boar in the chest with enough strength to slowly make it topple onto its stomach. For a level 1 monster it was surprisingly weak... but then again, it wasn't like she could complain, with her own level being so low. Briefly catching her breath after the chained moves the girl watched the boar struggle to get up again, letting out several weak growls in an attempt to intimidate her, but the anger in its eyes suddenly turned into fear when the girl sheathed her katana and approached it with ropes in hand.

"We're taking the boars to Londinium~"

Humming cheerfully the girl darted forwards once more, swinging the ropes while the exhausted boar saw the rope pull around its neck, and within a moment's notice the girl had pounced onto his back, making the small boar squirm firmly, bucking around like a wild horse

"This is like a rodeo, just more silly!"

Of course the sight that awaited the adventurers and landers who had been around the centipede was quite an unusual one. With the boar running like a madman toward them, it almost looked as if it was about to break into a charge, but several paces away from the centipede Aquila had pulled the ropes around the boar so hard the poor beast nearly choked, making it collapse onto the ground before the centipede.

"Geez you're certainly asking for something difficult. Delivering items is one thing, but getting me to play a rodeo on a boar is another story! Umm, you do eat boar do you? Flesh juicy boar meat? Not that I know, I haven't tried it yet, but after that ride I could go for a boar burger!"

And now it was time for her to wait and see if there were any other adventurers who had been crazy enough to decide to feed a giant centipede with living animals. Whatever the case might had been, the subdued boar was left in a partly-tied up condition, and after that ride it was simply way too tired to make an effort to escape. Only oblivion would deliver it the sweet salvation it desired, or perhaps it would merely fill that giant insect's belly... Whatever the case, money was money! And she could use some easy hunting practice to get into the mood. It was at that time she noticed the arrival of another adventurer, causing her to raise a hand in a cheerful wave.

"Yo~ Here to deal with Mister "I look like I'm the villain of a Spaceship Trooper movie' his request? Anyway, the name is Aquila, pleasure to meet ya, and all that jazz. Albeit I'm a warrior, not a chef so I dunno what type of food this guy would want, blind guessing this special delivery I brought him... Maybe some squirming rabbits next time..."

Pondering for a moment she finally turned her gaze back at the centipede, awaiting its reaction. A big guy like him was going to take a crazy ton of rabbits to have its belly filled entirely. In fact what did centipedes eat? Aside from humans in horror movies...

He groaned continually as he walked through the forest, dismayed that there was no sign of his brother. It was only a hour after he got transported into this world and Solar was already exhausted. "Please, just please I can find a city or something!" And as if his words came true, Solar smiled to see some gates into a city. But just as he was about to enter, he was quickly horrified to saw a giant centipede near the gates as he stopped and pulled out his weapons to attack. But to his shock, he noticed a sign around the neck of the centipede. "What the? "FEED ME"?" As he read closely to the sign, he was surprised that every live animal he offered up to that thing will earn him more gold. Solar was weirded out by this at first, only to became determined to finish it as he waved the centipede as his promise to return back with some animals for him to eat and head into Windsor Greatwood once again.

But with his brother search postponed for this quest, Solar became worried that if he don't finish this quickly, his brother will throw a fit and he knew it will not be pretty. But after an hour of searching and avoiding higher leveled monsters, he still haven't found a single monster that was also an animal. "Come on, is there any monster left in this area?" But to his luck, he saw 3 boars came out from the bushes and walked around as Solar looked at their HP bars for their levels and names. "Young Pittered Boar and they're Level 1. Perfect. Just gonna incapacitate them and bring them to that giant centipede."

And with his swords pulled out, Solar charged onto the boars and started slashing them very quickly. And when he saw the first boar's HP was weakened to yellow, he grabbed it in victory. "Yes! One down, two to..." But he spoke too soon as he got tackled behind him and when he turned around, Solar was horrified to see 3 more boars glaring at him in anger. "Uh-oh..." Thinking fast, Solar stood up and shouted one of his skills, "Shuffle Windmill!" He then swung his swords around and around until he found himself spinning as it caused for him to fire horizontal saw blade slashes to the boars, which weakened them any further.

And when he was done, he then returned his swords back into his sheaths before he made a battle cry as charged onto the boars, until 2 more popped out and tackled Solar like last time to protect their friends. "Double uh oh, I can't deal with more of them!" He then pulled his swords back and made several slashes to the first boar until he shouted, "Mirage Dealer!" Solar then created an X-shaped slash to hit the second one before he transported himself behind it, which gave him a chance to grabbed it as well as the first and the other unconscious boars. "There, that should be enough to feed that centipede. Despite I lose a few HP."

Then despite the weight of eight Young Pittered Boars, Solar was able to carry it back to the giant centipede with some difficulty as he dragged the unconscious boars on the ground. There, he saw two girls who are somehow in same quest as him, much to his shock as he don't know how to talk to a girl. "U-Uh, hi. Are you girls here for that centipede's quest, too?" He sheepishly asked to the girls as he put his unconscious boars near him, which he tried to make a good first impression despite his shyness over girls. "I-I'm Solar. N-Nice t-to meet you..."

Reward: 1,000 gold per animal eaten Foreman Mukade IX tried his best not to look downcast even as landers and adventurers alike merely passed him by or worse, ran away from him. Consequently, he was more than happy when a certain person walked up to him and casually stood around. It was a monk blondie by the name of Aura, but Mukade was unaware of such details because he’s blinder than a bat. All he knew was that a bipedal meat baby stood right in front of him and did not seem to be hostile or afraid. The centipede waved his antennae at Aura and then he pointed two appendages at the sign around his neck. A short while later, a samurai named Aquila who probably had noticed the quest arrived at Londinium with a young pittered boar. The quadruped was a handful but the samurai was able to restrain it and the boar ended up right in front of Mukade. The centipede, having thought that it was being given to him, stabbed the boar with his appendages. He then raised the squealing meat beastie up to his maxillipeds, the two stabbier appendages attached to the lower part of his face, and then he used those to bring the boar in its entirety to his maw. The young pittered boar was then bitten by Mukade and was given a dose of the centipede’s venom which rendered it paralyzed. It was not immune to pain though, so the last few minutes of the boar’s life was spent squealing from pain as the centipede devoured it. Young pittered boar... it was the first time that the elite centipede had eaten it in its natural form. There were cooked boar dishes provided by his tamer, but that left a different feeling in his stomach. Mukade was also slightly disappointed by how weakly the creature kicked at him when he ate it. Being a predatory creature, the centipede found it more entertaining to devour targets that struggled. That was only one boar though, so when Solar walked in somehow with eight young pittered boars in tow, Foreman Mukade IX clicked his maxillipeds and was ready for the next bloody meat beastie. His antennae moved over the boars; the centipede noticed that some were smaller than the others, so Mukade only picked the two largest young pittered boars. He stabbed them just as he did with the first boar from Aquila, and slowly but surely devoured the two boars in succession. “That was good,” Mukade, now bloodied, patted what seemed to be his tummy, “But they don’t kick and scream enough. Nor do they try to get away.” If only someone could speak his language, then they might have more clues. Yet for now, it was obvious that the centipede had grown tired of eating young pittered boars. Maybe something else in the Greatwoods would interest him?
