Letting out a long sigh, the druid allowed an adventurer to hand him some show forms that would need to be filled out before he performed. Lazily he filled them out wondering why the group had decided to punish him in this manner. As he filled out the last one, he turned his attention back on the three. He couldn't help but regret why he had acted in such a way all evening, was he slowly being possessed by monster of jealous or was this who he really was? Shaking his head the druid let his gaze drop for a moment. It was clear that Tadashi was ignoring him but what the druid couldn't figure out was why so suddenly? It was clear that the lander liked the grey haired wolf or at least appeared to otherwise the lander was flirting for reasons unknown. Yet each act seemed to draw an involuntary response from the Zyrune, each one he seemed to regret almost immediately. And was Jacoben in on the act? He certainly didn't seem to stop the lander in his efforts, at any time he could have refused the man or said something, did he really want the lander as much as the lander appeared to want him? Leaving out a long frustrated sigh, the druid heard himself being called nearby and felt his heart drop away.
It was time. Stepping out onto the large stage, the druid informed the bard nearby of his choice of song and decided that it was best to put on a brave face for the duration of the performance and deal with everything else later. Letting another sigh pass his lips, the druid let his gaze rest on the dark blanket of sky that rested just behind the crowd before. As the music played the druid couldn't help but let his gaze drop towards the three in the group. Trying his best to seem like an Idol should, he managed to playfully get through his performance earning a standing ovation,. However just as he finished, Zyrune watched the lander lean towards Jacoben, it was clear what he intended. With his heart beating against his chest, the druid's voice caught in his throat, he fled the stage. but the druid quickly left the stage when he was permitted.
Shaking his head the druid felt tears flow over his cheeks, his felt like it was in his throat it was beating so hard, shaking his head, he rough swiped at his face with his forearm before taking off towards the edge of the area. Fainting lights from the festival seemed to offer some kind of light as panted, managing to take his first breath. It took a few minutes but eventually the tears stopped and Zyrune managed to take a deep breath to try and still his racing heart somewhat still not understanding why Tadashi kissing Jacoben upset him so much. It was clear to the druid that he fancied the lander, maybe even cared for him somewhat but they had never done anything about it, before now he had never wanted to. So why was it such a problem that the lander had found someone else?
As the druid leaned against a nearby wall for support, he wondered why the thought of Jacoben with Tadashi upset him so much. He honestly held no ill feeling towards the foxtail, in fact he could even see the attraction to someone so innocent and cute. That type of thing certainly wasn't for him, but he could see the allure and yet when Tadashi appeared to be falling for it, Zyrune found himself acting like a spoiled brat that was being denied his favorite toy. When the druid's thoughts turned to Shuwen, the innocent caught up in everything, he wished he could have died right there and then, he hadn't meant to appear so spoiled, he simply had wanted to enjoy the festival and now he felt not only bad about himself but also bad for Jacoben and Shuwen for the way he had reacted in both their presences, he could only hope that they wouldn't judge him on his behavior, then again he couldn't blame them if they had did, he had been an ass and acted like a spoilt brat. The druid honestly didn't know why he had acted like such an idiot even if he did care about Tadashi, that didn't give him an excuse to ignore Shuwen and blacklist Jacoben simply because Tadashi hadn't paid him attention or was choosing to give them attention for once.
Letting out a frustrated groan, the pink haired druid slamped his hand into the wall and shut his eyes closed. How could he let himself do this? How could he make this much of a fool of himself and all for a boy that possibly didn't even care for him.
***
Backing away in surprised at the foxtail's sudden confidence, the lander couldn't help but smirk as he watched the man have his little outburst. Despite the dual eyed man's intention, his entire outburst and even the the sudden appearance of his heavy accent that occurred when the fox grew anxious only seemed to increase the lander's attraction for the young man. "You misunderstand." Tadashi smiled kindly towards the foxtail. "I like you, I like you a lot." He paused and ran his tongue over his lip seductively while studying the young man standing before him. "This would not have worked otherwise." The lander mentioned as he noted the druid depart the stage. "You are cute, very much so and I would very much like to win you over and I had assumed that it was working, a night with you I'd say I would remember." The lander winked before displaying another charming smile at the foxtail. "Zyrune won't think you've done anything wrong and he would never take that out on you. " He paused for a moment scratching his cheek before letting his gaze rest on the cute young foxtail. "I don't want him any longer, I want you, I thought I had made that clear?" He paused for another moment leaning so that he was close to the foxtail but without making the other man uncomfortable. "Zyrune and me, we won't work, when I saw you I though one last attempt might work, but as we have moved tonight I've come to realize that more and more that I want something else, I've realized that my desires lay elsewhere and they have been growing in need ever since. Please forgive me."

'CAUSE WE'RE ONLY GETTING BETTER
--- ALIVE AGAIN, ANOTHER DAY, I'M NOT AFRAID TO GET OVER --- |
[attr="class","boneshatter3"] Somehow or another, Ducky ended up getting separated from his partner-in-crime. "Princess? Where'd you go, Princess?" Ducky tried time and time again to yell, hoping to locate the young heretic, but with the crowds this thick there was going to be no chance. Ducky had never realized how crowded Elder Tale could be, which was making his life a little bit more difficult right now. Instead of shouting (it wouldn't do any good - he was just getting drowned out by the vendors, constant proclamations of love, and other assorted sounds of joy) the young man decided to simply wander around, hoping to run into her. Knowing that she could not manage to operate much via the interface, he didn't even bother to send her a message. It had been previously decided that if the two were ever separated, their meeting spot would be by this small brook south of the town. And, since she probably wasn't going to be very social, Ducky thought he might as well try and make some new friends. Or try some new foods. Or something at least. The first thing that caught his eye was the shady-looking vendor up ahead. As Rubber Ducky approached him, he quickly noticed a sign adjacent to him. "WANT TO DISCOVER YOUR TRUE LOVE? ALL IT TAKES IS ONE BITE!" Curious as always, Ducky made his way to the front and spoke with someone who he assumed to be an adventurer. By his speech, it sounded as if all Ducky had to do was to eat this piece of candy and then he would shout to the world what his true love was. It sounded strange, fake, and all around weird, but Ducky thought he would get a candy and save it for later. Plus it would be funny to see if Ozma knew what it was and if she fell for eating it. The sound of music playing was pretty cool and something that Ducky never got used to. Back in the real world, he really enjoyed listening to music, but here in Elder Tale there wasn't a whole lot of music going on. He half expected to hear some weird battle music when he first got into a fight with enemies, only to find out that it wasn't like the games he had been playing. As a matter of fact, there were a lot of things in the real world that he missed, including the taste of real food. Sure there were some people that were supposed to know how to make food taste real, but Ducky never had the opportunity to test that out. He found himself, in the midst of this festival, longing for home. He wondered if Princess Ozma was the same way. She never spoke about much, so he wasn't exactly sure how she felt about being trapped her. Sometimes it felt taboo to talk about, like a painful wound that would flare up as if it were salted by the harsh reality of their situation. At the mention of more beer, the girl was quickly behind the samurai and gulped down the rest of her drink. “I love this food.” The girl said in a normal voice, but it was the loudest thing she said while they were at the festival as the Coconia fruit kicked in. Valerie had known about the effects of the Coconia fruit but her one true love will always be food, or unless she finds something or someone better. When the Assassin introduced himself, Valerie smiled kindly at him, partially because he was the closest to her in height though he still easily towered over the small swashbuckler. “Hello Eniko.” She greeted him softly. The girl was usually quite wary and reserved around strangers but the atmosphere was quite festive and fun, relaxing the girl around strangers. As the Guardian introduced himself, Valerie grinned a bit as he put his hands behind his head, rather amused by how relaxed the fully armed Guardian was. “Hello Balore.” The swashbuckler said in her soft voice, biting her lip from grinning too much. Balore seemed quite excited for the circus act, asking questions about the show. Rather suddenly, Noir spoke up, explaining how festivals were not something he exactly enjoyed but expressed his enjoyment in the time so far. The warden bid us goodbye and waved to the group then quickly left the festival. Valerie’s brow frowned slightly, seeing the group diminish into a group of four and waved goodbye to Noir, sighing softly. It was nice meeting the warden, and realized they were quite like other adventurers though they were previously a class for the People of the Land, having likes and dislikes like normal people. Soon after Noir left, Valerie realized she forgot to introduce herself to the newcomers. “Oh, by the way, I’m Valerie but you can call me Val if you prefer.” She said in her usual soft voice, but just loud enough to be heard over the voices of the people in the festival. It ended up with everyone coming along to find some food before the show so the girl smiled slightly as made her way over to the beer booth, purchasing some more alcohol. “Do you guys know any other food around here?” Valerie asked them after they got all the alcohol they wanted. "Making my way downtown, walking fast~ Faces pass. And I'm homebound~"
A melodic whistling can be heard after Hiro finishes the small rhyme, looking around while he whistled. The event was making this place a bit more lively, in that he hadn't seen as many people as he had before. He heard that a few of his friends were here, and saw that they were, for sure, since the friend list allowed you to see where they are at any given time. Although, Hiro had just arrived here for another matter entirely. He was just here to check out the town for the first time, since he figured it would be nice to see all the things that he hasn't seen before. Stratford was one of the only few places in this world that he had yet to see, despite there only being so much to be seen right now. He should have come here a long time ago, when the area was first found, but something about the area also kind of threw him off from visiting. While he wanted to come, the thought of Miasma and all that stuff kept clouding his mind. He never really got into the thought of being around such a place, but since he had come here already, he realized just how wrong he was.
The city was much more lively with actual people here. The only time he'd ever been remotely close to this area was when he and Stryke had done a small quest to fight some monsters. Even that was a good distance away, and the only reason he was out on that quest was to find some place where he could put train tracks to move the trains through. But, since the trains would likely never get done, that had to be put on hold for a while. Hiro sighed a bit, dropping his head a little, closing his eyes. When he opened them back up, he found himself about to walk right into a wall. The monk froze in place, and casually walked around the obstacle, keeping his head down to hide the ever-apparent blush on his face. Once that went away, though, he found himself walking outside a restaurant in the area, having recognized it as some sort of place where he might find Midori at some point. Maybe @0x1dea or Charuen would find the place to be quite enjoyable as well, since they were pretty classy people, though the line to get inside was something fierce. Something about needing reservations. He only overheard the slightest bit of it, but moved on, as it didn't interest him all that much.
Making his way further downtown, though, he observed that there was a lot of things going on. Stalls for food and drink everywhere, little games to be played by a couple or something of that sort, and all the things you'd imagine for a festival were present. However, the one thing that seemed to be getting his attention even more so was the fact that there were plenty of couples to be seen. Meanwhile, Hiro was all on his own right now, and as a result, had no date. It didn't bother him at all, though, since he didn't mind being here alone. He was only here to check things out, anyways. Speaking of checking things out, Hiro eventually found a small booth that served alcoholic beverages, and decided that it might do him some good to get the spirits flowing through him, so to speak. All jokes aside, Hiro made his way over to the booth, leaned against the counter, and waved over to the one tending the drinks. "Some beer would be good, keep." He said calmly. As the one who worked the booth poured the drink out and into a glass, Hiro took a little look around, and saw a certain Swashbuckler that he knew. Not too far from where he was right now, he could see Valerie standing in a small group of people, seemingly all guys. Hiro turned back around, laughing to himself. "Never knew the girl had a harem." He joked, while taking the beer from the tender. "Thanks." Placing the money on the counter for the owner, he took a sip from the glass, and relaxed at the booth for a bit, looking around the area a bit more while he drank.

Do you believe in ghosts? With a hard squeeze and a firm grip, Saber lifted the small ball into the air and out of the little corral it was in. He had three shots, three balls to throw, and no chances to miss. The strange Summoner stood off to the side with a wide smirk on his face and his head tilted down, shielding his eyes as he watched the Assassin spin the ball around his hands. The two players had a silent staring contest for a moment as Saber glared towards the strange man, but that look never changed. He never moved and never caved. Circus did not speak and he did not move. He simply stood there with that disgusting look on his face and looked at Saber. He was a level one, but that man wasn’t looking at Saber’s level. No, that man was looking right into Saber’s soul. It was as if the Summoner knew everything about the new face in his life, about the Assassin. Yet he did not say a word. He simply stood and watched.
Saber let out a huff and started to toss the ball in his hand up and down, giving it a soft spin after his third toss in order to get his arm used to its weight. Then, after his fourth toss up, his fingers wrapped around the orb firmly, his forearm tensing as he clutched it. His fingers dug into the spherical object and the Assassin cocked his right arm back. He squeezed the ball with all of his might and straightened his arm out behind him. His entire body tightened and his eyes locked on to his target; the red lever on the left side of the pool. Once he had his mark, Saber gripped the ball even tighter and let it all go. His upper body twisted over itself and his arm snapped forward through the air. The man’s fingers held onto the ball up until the highest point in his arm’s arc before they loosened. As his arm declined, his fingers dragged and caused the ball to have a backspin, keeping it steady as it shot forward in a straight line. It flew out of Saber’s reach in an instant and closed in one the target. Saber let out a grunt after exerting so much force and his eyes watched the next scene.
The ball shot forward, right on target. The little Golem’s eyes blinked several times as he watched the Assassin load up, but then its eyes shifted to the Summoner; Circus. Circus’s smile extended and he gave the Golem a curt nod. A moment later, as the ball whipped through the air and prepared to strike the target, the Golem’s right arm shot out and snagged the spherical missile right out of the air. It was so fast, so instant, and out of pure reaction. It left Saber speechless, literally, at the speed of the Golem. Its arm went from in its own lap to up in the air in a blink. Upon snagging the ball, all of the object’s lateral momentum was gone. It didn’t get an inch further and froze in midair in the Golem’s palm. Saber’s eyes opened and he let out a surprised huff. Circus smiled wider.
“What in the…” Saber muttered and looked over at Circus, expecting some kind of foul or a flag to be thrown. But he got nothing. The Summoner raised his hands up into the air and let out a chuckle. His head tilted back and his disturbed eyes stared at the Assassin with glee.
“I’m sorry sir, but I did not say that the Golem could not move!” Yes, the trickster was right and Saber would not argue. However, Saber had already been fooled and he would not have that occur again. With that in mind, he stepped back from the ball corral and glanced down towards his little one, who was already looking up at him.
“Let’s go. I will not be played by a trickster.” Saber snapped and was about to take a step away when he heard two claps behind him. He looked over his shoulder to see Circus stepping away from his position and the strange man began to walk over towards his Golem.
“Now now, my good man… I did not say that the Golem had to remain still and there are no restraints on him! Saying that I am a trickster simply because you did not ask a question! I feel that such a thing is… Unfair.” Circus smirked and glanced over at Saber as he took the ball from his own companion. The Golem let out a little rumble and stared at Circus, but then he looked over towards Saber. The Assassin glared at the Summoner and turned to face him.
“Don’t you think that information would be good to know from the start?” Saber hissed, but Circus only chuckled and returned the ball to the corral where Saber had just been standing behind. He tilted his head back and looked directly at Saber with no obstructions to his face. That smile was disturbing.
“Tell you what. Now that you know, how about I give you all three tries again? How does that sound…?” Circus’s nose wiggled and he winked at the little one, who let out a small giggle. Saber huffed and snarled at the Summoner, his hands squeezing into fists. Fool him once, shame on them… Fool him twice…
“Please Mister! I think that was pretty cool!” His little one giggled again and tugged on Saber’s cloak, smiling up at him. Even Blumpy let out a small giggle, but that was probably because the little pumpkin just wanted another ride. Though, Saber would not argue with his own companions. Plus, he figured he could at least rub the Summoner’s own game in his face.
“Fine… But only once…” Saber stated and walked back to the stall. Circus smiled wickedly again and bowed his head, stepping back and out of the way once more. Saber sneered at the man and narrowed his eyes on the Golem. This stone bastard was getting dunked…

"KNOW THAT I'M ALREADY HOME" Upon hearing what Midori had to say, a wide smile stretched across Charuen's face and brightened her features. The heretic's good news removed any crankiness left from the minor shuffle moments ago, and raised the cleric's spirits greatly. After all, she loved to eat as much as she loved to cook -- and she really, really liked to cook. Char wondered what restaurant Midori had won tickets to; not that it mattered much, since all the restaurants in the area were known for being of the highest calibre. As they walked (or should it be dragged?) through the carnival (Site B) and headed for the market district of the city (Site A) Charuen took the time to admire the numerous stuffed animals that could be won if one managed to successfully complete the carnival challenges. Her eyes lingered longingly on a fluffy seal plush that sat on the counter of a throw a ring-on-a-bottleneck booth. The pinkette recalled Midori offering to win her a stuffed animal, and wondered if it would be rude or selfish for her to take up her Raven-haired friend's offer after dinner. Once they reached the restaurant, Char took immediate notice of the extremely long line that extended from the entrance to around the corner of the establishment. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight before turning to look at the name of the restaurant. A look of surprise flashed across her face as she recognized it; she had not been aware that such a famous chef was residing in the Unfounded Kingdom. As they approached the buff bodyguard (Charuen was vaguely reminded of a bouncer of a nightclub.), Charuen calmly showed him her ticket the ticket the heretic had given her earlier. Despite the man's tough exterior, she did not find him unsettling. After all, thanks to Midori's ticket, she had a right to be here. As they entered the restaurant, Charuen was quick to notice the upscale atmosphere of the establishment. In addition to a grand chandelier in the main dining room that hung from the ceiling and candles with small flickering flames that casted a romantic and ambient glow, there were also plush chairs with high backs, and flowing tablecloths of pearly white. Accenting the elegant decor were walls lined with large white bricks, as well as many low arches and divided rooms. The cleric couldn't help but feel as if she just stepped into posh inn in a small town in Provence, France. As the pink haired beauty took her seat at their designated table in the VIP section, her eyes took a quick sweep of the other customers, both adventurers and landers, around her. While her dress could pass for such an upscale restaurant, compared to the outfits of some of the customers around her, it was lacking a little bit. She sighed silently at this, but otherwise made no comment. There was nothing she could do about -- after all, she had not been expecting to have dinner at such a high class place. Her eyes eventually fell upon Midori, and then on @0x1dea. Her grey-blue orbs lingered on the latter for a bit longer, and despite her efforts, she found a smile tugging at her lips upon making eye contact with him. There was just something about the guardian that made her so happy. Whenever she was around him, her heartbeat would quicken and she'd feel warm and fuzzy all over. When he had held her hand earlier, a feeling of security had washed over her, especially when he had given her hand a reassuring squeeze. The healer wondered if he felt same way around her. Not wanting to make things awkward, Char finally looked away from her guildmate and turned to face Midori once more. "Thank you for inviting us to dinner." She said gratefully, the smile on her lips widening. While she was excited to taste the delicious food, she was mostly happy to be having dinner with two people she cared about deeply. Her voice was soft as she continued to speak, for everyone around her also spoke in hushed tones. "I think we-" The half-alv was cut off as the lights dimmed considerably for one moment before returning to normal. In the centre of the dining room, two individuals appeared, both wearing chef uniforms. Standing behind each individual were two others, and judging from their shorter hats, Charuen reasoned they were sous-chefs. The pinkette tilted her head slightly, and her golden clips shone dimly as some of the soft light from the candle on the table reflected off them. "I wonder what's about to happen...?" "Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."
|
Alas it seemed that the monk had abandoned him somewhere along the line and he was left with naught but his only quickly vanishing spine as support in this very volatile social situation. Luckily for the young Sorcerer Tadashi seemed willing to stoke the flames of his ire with the very clearly false statements of interest and affection. The nerve of the Lander, only moments before he had claimed to be trying to make Zyrune jealous and gain a foothold into the pink haired druid's affections and now he was saying that he had no interest in the larger male and only had eyes on Jacoben.
"I dinnae believe ya'," he declared, watery eyes firming in indignation as his spine straightened and he puffed up further beneath the baggy clothing he was wearing. "Ye made it very clear jest a momen' ago tha' ye were only tryna make him more willin' tae listan tae yer declaration o' affection. So which is tha lie? Ye cannae have it both ways an I dinnae appreciate bein' treated in such a way." With thin arms folded over his chest Jacoben presented the very picture of a disgruntled young man, his tail swishing in agitation behind him as he stared into Tadashi's face in search of a proper answer to his question.
Of course, even if Tadashi was being honest Jac wasn't overly likely to believe him, the Foxtail had never really been approached romantically and was fairly certain that he had no qualities that would interest another in such a fashion. Add to that the fact that Tadashi had openly admitted to have been trying to get together with someone else and the Sorcerer was stubbornly sure that any interest expressed towards him was a falsehood with the goal of making Zyrune more and more jealous as the night went on.
It hurt a little bit to consider himself a tool for someone else's romance, a slight sting in his chest which spoke of some as of yet undimmed desire and hope to find someone to be his partner. He hadn't really realised that he still had such a desire considering his luck in the romance area in the past, or lack thereof. His jaw twitched slightly as the realisation struck him and the sting spread to engulf his entire torso sending a wave of sorrow through him that seemed to come out of nowhere to engulf his stability. Jacoben took a shuddering breath and shot a wounded look at the Lander, one hand fluttering to his throat as though to push away the lump of old sadness that had gathered there. "That was very cruel," he murmured, barely audible over the new performance but still loud enough for Tadashi to hear him.
He should have left then, he wanted to leave, but his legs wouldn't move and it took every bit of strength he had to keep standing and not simply collapse to the ground at the surprising sudden emotional swell that had stuck so effectively at his heart. His mind whirled with a myriad of self depreciating thoughts and replayed instances which chipped away further at his self esteem and ramped up his anxiety. This might give Tadashi a chance at more effective damage control, or he could cause even more problems for the small Sorcerer.

It's been two pages since the last post and it just seems a little disorienting to get back into, for some reason. Come on, do you think anyone else is going to read our post anyway? Let's hurry up with the dinner! I'm hungry! Fine. But first, let's give a recap about their time up till seating. Her proposal to dine with and then play carnival games afterward gave a notably bright smile to her pink-haired friend Charuen and an amused grin to the silver-haired fellow alliance vice-leader @0x1dea. Recap from that far off!? Remember everyone, a girl's true OTP was them x food. Without even having to consider the deadline by which the invitations were drawing near, the three friends had made their way into the restaurant. Midori looked around. The layout of the restaurant truly did portray the definition of "classy 5-star restaurant". She noticed that each of the tables near the front were decorated with a chandelier containing a large, single candle. There was a fresh fragrance coming from the burning wax from the many tables, but it was hardly apparent unless one would have stood close to the decorations. Various scents of fine dining loomed in the air, creating a complex mix of aromas. Midori noted that most of these tables were two-person tables, making her feel like the odd one out in a way. She had noticed that there were sparks coming from the other two ever since their encounter at the ball.
Yes, yes, I get it. I'm a third wheel! How long is this summary going to be? All of those chandeliers were put to shame once they got into the reservation section, however. As they were led into another room, separated by glass walls and partitions, the previously dim and romantic atmosphere of the restaurant's outside was replaced with an aura of pure glamour. This wasn't just your everyday "romantic couple's date in the local cafe" right here. This was "movie stars' front-page romantic date". The rustic wooden tables and chairs gave way to plush seats and clean linen tablecloths. There was a lot of additional scenery that she could hardly have described in comparison to her Cleric friend's mental image. After all, Midori had never been to France herself. Quebec yes. But really. In any case, the high-class fashion of the other guests made her feel as though her own clothing was also rather inadequate. It was still somewhat chilly in Avon and she had noticed a good number of guests wearing their winter coats, but many of them had taken off their coats at the door to reveal some of the fanciest suits and dresses she'd ever seen Landers wear. The impression that they were mostly farmers or working-class members of society had taken root, considering there had been no nobles thus far. Maybe this city was a bit different? Her impression seemed to be shared by her two companions. Wait, what? In particular, the magatama gave a brief flash as the pinkette sighed. So I'm supposed to... The raven-haired girl decided to speak up in order to comfort her friend a little bit. Fine. As they sat down at the table, Midori spoke up and commented on the fashion sense that had contrasted this section of the restaurant from the outside section.
"Let's continue to grow stronger some more and then we'll come back here with fancy high-level clothes!" A rather odd line came out of her mouth, as expected of someone who had spent her life holed up playing video games and surfing the web all day. Says you. The buff waiter followed up from behind, bringing the menus to their table. He made an elegant smile and walked over toward another table for the time being. As the little magician looked at the contents of the menu, she had realized that most of these dishes were actually vaguely familiar from real life. Was the owner of the restaurant an Adventurer? He seemed vaguely familiar in some way. It was apparent that the girl didn't spend much time watching cooking shows or even TV for that matter. "Mhm, not at all, Charry! I think it makes it special to be able to go out to dinner with friends every so often. Especially since we don't usually get the chance to do this often." Sure, their two guilds were loaded enough to literally buy out most of the restaurants they knew, but life had changed so much in this world that it was rare that they would have been able to sit down and enjoy a meal.
Oxford inquired on what they would have been expecting to have, considering that being in the VIP section meant that their meal wouldn't have been limited to just the entries on the menu, right? Charuen was ready to reply and Midori had started to look at the first entree on the list before they were interrupted that moment. The lights dimmed as two rows of three chefs had emerged from the kitchen and stood in front of the dining room. The bright glow of the largest chandelier dimmed, darkening the room. At that moment, a single man walked out from the back of the kitchen as the crowd began to clap. It was the man whose portrait was found on the restaurant logo. Midori examined his interface and was surprised to see what had popped up from the interface. Milesian Ramsey. Level 90 Master Chef. What. Really? What? "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to today's VIP dinner show. I am Ramsey, the host of the show and the owner of this fine restaurant. Before you are two teams of chefs, each of them aspiring to become a true Culinary Artist. Tonight, they will overcome a number of challenges designed to test their abilities. Let us meet our contestants!" The man started to introduce each of the contestants one by one at that moment. Afterward, he gave an announcement. "Those of you in the VIP section will have the special privilege of having your cuisine prepared by our teams! Please have your orders ready and we hope you have an exquisite dinner!" The young Heretic looked at the menu once again and noted the entries available for the night. It was a three-course meal, each phase of the meal having several choices.
First course, choice of one of the following:
White Bean and Coconia Velouté: A soup flavored with the sweet taste of Coconia Fruit. It comes with baked sturgeon, sweet and sour onion jam, warm bean salad, and scallion creme fraiche.
Coconia Seafood Rémoulade: Poached shrimp salad served with grated celery root, Sarum lettuce, and Coconia aïoli.
Spiced Pork Terrine: Pork cretons served with Coconia gelée, pickled vegetables, and rye toast.
Second course, choice of a main dish:
Mediterranean Sea Bass: Coconia and parsley tabbouleh served with sweet carrot hummus and minted yoghurt.
Roasted Chicken Breast and Boudin Blanc: Chicken served with sour cabbage from the fields of Londinium, Coconia mostarda, Dijon mustard, and juniper jus.
Filet of Stratford Beef: Sirloin of Avonian Crag Cow served with sweet and sour beets, sauteed spinach, horseradish and cauliflower puree, and tangy Coconia dipping sauce.
Roasted Coconia Tart: A roasted Coconia Fruit served with cooked squash, brussel sprouts, crushed hazelnuts, caramelized onion, and aged goat cheese.
Third course, apparently a dessert course that made her expression beam:
Stratford Cheese: Cheese served with Coconia jam, aged balsamic vinegar, and sesame toast.
Coconia Chocolate: A confection of chocolate flavored with fresh Coconia. Consists of cocoa brioche, chocolate marquise, cashews, and blood orange coulis.
Coconia Beignet: Fried donuts baked with Coconia custard and completed with apple cider parfait and apple butter.
Wow, her reading speed was faster than the writer would have expected. Apparently her character profile speed reading ability wasn't a lie. Coconia everything as expected. Midori turned her eyes toward the other two at this moment, wondering just what they had gotten themselves into by visiting this restaurant. All the food descriptions looked great and the show was seemingly about to get enjoyable. It was truly a captivating show, but there was also something about being part of a live audience that made her a little nervous. Her eyes glanced around for any signs of cameras or anything, then fixed back onto the other two. "What should we each order?" By this time, she had a notably cheerful and excited expression on her face. However, after realizing what was on the menu, she turned her glance to the side and showed a light blush on her face. "I don't understand half of what's listed on the menu though..." the girl confessed as she twiddled her fingers, hoping that either of the other two could explain it more clearly to her. She wanted the Coconia Beignet, definitely! The cheese seemed okay too, but it wasn't usually her impression of a dessert. The chocolate was tantalizing even if she didn't eat chocolate often in real life due to food sensitivities. Aah, why is it so hard to pick only one?

Words: 432 And so Shuwen made his escape from the outdoor theater, the confining crowd around it, and the complicated problems of people in love but were too soft-footed to communicate properly, or whatever the issue was. The Monk wasn’t sure whether to be glad of his escape, or feel depressed at his own cowardice. On one hand, he’d left things hanging between the four of them. On the other, his presence wasn’t exactly helping the situation. Leaving before I screw up anything else is definitely the right decision. That’s what he told himself anyways. Before long, he found himself doing exactly what he’d been doing some fifteen minutes earlier; wandering around the carnival grounds in search of something to do. He had since grown board of said games, and his attempts to talk to someone didn’t seem to have gone very well, but perhaps he could try again. Unfortunately, the same problem as before reasserted itself, only more so; by this point in the festival, just about everyone had either paired up with someone else, or gotten into a group of friends to celebrate with. There also didn’t seem to be quite as many people wandering around the carnival as before, presumably they’d moved on to one of the festival’s other attractions. Fortunately, he was not the only such wallflower who’d chosen to attend. As he wandered near one of the food stands, he saw a taller orange haired adventurer eyeing one of the stalls, looking more then a little apprehensive. He was dressed as a mage, though that wasn’t enough to identify his class. The food itself looked pretty appetizing, the Monk would have gotten some himself if, well, he hadn’t already eaten. If that was the case, the only two reasons he could think of that the Mage wouldn’t want to partake were either money, or mortification about blurting out the things and people he liked. Trace could understand that. I guess I should lend him a hand? Swallowing his nervousness, he strolled up to the mage and tried to start a conversation. “W-worried about giving stuff away?” He asked, his face was plastered with a partially fake smile, and the casualness was a bit exaggerated, but he hoped the mage wouldn’t catch on. “It’s not quite as bad as it sounds; most of the time people just yell out their favorite foods or hob-”“I LOVE RUGBY!” A nearby adventurer yelled loudly. “…hobbies.” The Monk finished a little superfluously. "The odds of someone yelling out an actual secret seem to be kind of low. It's happened, but not very often."Rubber Ducky

Zyrune grumpily kick his foot against the hard wall of the building he had been leaning against. Letting out a sigh of frustration, the druid tried his best to understand what was happening. The past few days himself and Tadashi had been having a great time however that time must have come to and end judging how the lander had decided to act today and what was worse, the druid felt ashamed for how he had acted in front of Jacoben and Shuwen. Closing his eyes, he listened to the noise of the festival nearby that seemed all but unbearable at the moment. He knew he shouldn't expect it but wondered how people could feel like this without others taking notice, then again the druid had possibly walked past countless individuals who had experienced this emotions and much worse over the past year, in fact during his first few weeks when he had kept to himself and wallowed in his misery and being kept from his sister, he bet that nearly every player was experiencing similar emotions and yet he hadn't bothered to stop and talk to any of them or even lend a hand, instead choosing to focus on himself and his own personal quest.
The druid felt like such a fool as stood at the edge of the festival based around love while his 'love' or assumed 'love' stood in the middle of it all soaking in the atmosphere of the place as he directed his attentions onto others. It wouldn't have been so bad if the lander had said that Zyrune and himself were not going to work out, that things didn't seem right. The lander could have even said that he was bored and sure it would have hurt him, it would have disappointed him, but at least he could understand that kind of action. However the two of them seemed to have been perfectly happy together or so the pink haired half-alv had assumed so. Over the course of the festival the two had managed to explore stand after stand, smile after smile, they had even enjoyed a spotlight dance together and had even gotten their fortunes told. Letting his shoulders drop, he pressed his shoulder against the cold hard wall and gazed upwards towards the dark sky that blanketed Elder Tale and the city of Londinium. He couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if he had never been sealed within the lonely world.
***
Levi groaned when he felt a soft hand pull at him. It had been a productive afternoon, he had managed to film several great sessions of their first experiences on the new server of Elder Tale with the group. He guessed that they would be posting the videos maybe every two days as the game was relatively new and they needed to be on top of the curve. It was very common for other people to post long videos exploring everything about the world quite rapidly, however the brown haired boy was not like them. Instead his audience seemed to enjoy the rather hilarious moments that occurred between himself and the others and thus that was his motivation for posting, however he still needed to constantly put up new videos and he guessed that these videos would get more views due to the server released of the unfounded kingdom. With a soft sigh, he nodded at the tugging hand before removing the large expensive headset that had confined his ears for the past few hours. Letting out a rather large yawn, the boy turned at last to rest his gaze on the only audience member he really cared about, his sister.
From the time he was a child during his first days at school, Levi had never really gotten on well with others, he was different, he knew it, everyone else knew it and yet no one seemed to acknowledge it. Children can certainly be cruel and that was the case with Levi's class, then again he had been set up by his teacher for being bullied. He could remember that first day like it was yesterday, he was so excited for it, he couldn't help but smile as he recalled it. His mother and himself had spent ages pouring through store after store for the right kind of bag that was needed for school, one that could hold his books and other materials but also one that represented who he was as a person but also that looked cool. He could recall the nerves that ran through his body as he walked towards the small rural school with his mother that very first day and how he had made her promise that she would collect him right away and then he had asked how he would know it was home time. Levi had started school a little bit later than everyone else in his class, his parents fault. The two enjoyed a yearly holiday however they didn't enjoy rush times and so liked to go at the end of the summer break and this years holiday time so happened to overlap with his first days of school. First impressions meant a lot especially to kids and if he had known how it would have affected him, he would have begged his mother to cancel the holiday there and then.
However after a deep breath, some words of encouragement and a kiss from his mother, the brown haired boy trudged confidently into school, nervously opening the door to his classroom with a smile, he stood there for a moment gazing around at the peering eyes of seated children that had now turned to rest on him. He could still remember how those few seconds had dragged on forever until the teacher finally rose from her desk, she seemed like a nice woman then, then again the boy had never met anyone to the contrary and so had accepted it when she sat him away from everyone else at the nature table at the back. The way he had figured it, the seats had already been taken and things would be sorted. Levi couldn't help but half smile as he remembered how that had been the only moment where he hadn't doubted a thing about school. The next four hours had been hell for him.
The kids seeing how he had been seated away from everyone else only used that as an excuse to further distance themselves from him during that first day, the teacher hadn't acknowledged him after that choosing instead to ask questions to the bright students in class, maybe it was to give him a break and let him settle in, but without any attention on him, he could feel the shadows draw over him. He could still recall how lunch time had come at the sound of a bell, a noise he would dread from that moment on and how he had rushed to his bag to withdraw sandwiches he had prepared with his mother that morning super early or they wouldn't have had time to get them just right. He could also recall how the other children stolen them and had destroyed them, how they had jeered at his bag, questioning how he had honestly thought those colours and designs had been a good idea. He could recall the rough hands of their jealously holding him back as they stomped on it and tore it this way and that. The teacher hadn't done much because she hadn't seen it happen and thus anything was he said she said, his mother had complained when she had seen the bag and her son's tears that evening but that only made things worse.
From then Levi hadn't smiled as much, instead of the bright colours he normally loved, he shut down and wanted to blend in with the shadows, he didn't want to stand out, he wanted to hid, he needed to hid. No longer did he prepare sandwiches with his mother early each morning, instead choosing to go without a snack, he never felt hungry the brown haired boy had said and yet as the hunger tore away at him each day, he would sit in silence and thank the stars he didn't have another reason to be punished for. It had been that way for years and Levi based every decision on how others would view it, would it draw attention to him, would it seem weird or would it offer him safety, would it allow him to hid in the shadows and creep by. Even his bedroom wasn't the place he would let his dreams fly by and enjoy what he loved, instead he would convince himself of how they were stupid things to enjoy, punishing himself so that no one else would have to.
However as he gazed down at the blonde curly haired green eyed girl smiling up at him holding out a bag of marshmallows for them to share, he knew it wouldn't last. When he had turned 17, his sister had been born. It had been a complete surprise to both him and his parents who swore that they had taken the necessary precautions to prevent such a thing. At first when he heard the news he had been so happy, but that night as the boy lay thinking about it, he vowed to always be there for here, to make sure that no matter what happened to her, she would always have him, have at least one person who never once denied her to enjoyment of her guilty pleasures, who never once said no to playing a game, someone who would smile and nod at any and every suggestion the girl would ever make just to see her smile.
Her name was Rachel and she had never been alone. Not once had she ever been made to feel like a failure and if she ever thought it, Levi was sure to spend hours, sometimes even days a comment or chiding remark would cause the young girl. Even as he studied and produced games, he never failed to make time for her, he had made a promise the night she had been born, to always be there for her, to make sure she had what he had dreamed of, a friend.
***
Now as the pink hair-alv stood staring out into the darkness he felt like he had that first day of school, once again he longed for the shadows, once again he longed to hide away. However he did not wish to be alone. As the tears fell onto the grass below, he wished he had his sister. It had been well over a year in this god forbidden world of monsters, but yet two months real time had passed and yet both seemed an eternity to go without seeing her smile, to hear her call out his name, to know that she was waiting on the couch controller in hand waiting for him to return from the beast that was college to play a ridiculous game that was far to easy for the brown haired boy, but still he continued to feign and pretend to struggle with each level as the blonde haired girl would giggle and jest as she completed them with ease. He missed how the sound of her voice would fill a room as she erupted in giggles as his fingers tickled her relentlessly. He missed his sister and now standing staring into darkness, knowing that the only 'friend' he had made the past year seemed intent on throwing that away in such a heartless manner only the made the half-alv cry harder.
Despite everything, despite the barrage of defeats and obstructions he had faced and managed to overcome since he had become trapped within this strange world, despite everything he still felt like he was getting no where. Adventurers around him seemed to band together with ease, seemed to smile and laugh and cherish one another while he was once again left at the back of the classroom. Sure the druid had his faults, discovered several dozens more of them during the past year and yet he hadn't expected to feel like this, to feel like shadows offered only comfort. Shaking his head of the tears, he tried his best to stop them from falling, but they continued endless, his heart tore at him and he tried to muffle the sobs that escaped his throat with his sleeve as he sat crouched against the wall. Part of him refused to submit, refused to give up, refused to allow the shadows to embrace him once more. However he couldn't continue like this, he couldn't continue to extend his hand to everyone he met and be surprised when it was slapped away.
Shutting his eyes tightly, he swallowed hard trying his best to still his rapidly beating heart. He needed to put up a wall, surround himself in a barrier, like he had done when he was a child but instead of hiding himself away, he needed to fill that barrier with everything he cherished, embracing the little comforts this world offered. He needed hide Levi, hide the boy that cried at night when he dreamed of his sister, the boy that blushed when he saw a handsome man, the boy who only wanted to help, the boy who could have his heart broken. No, it may have taken over a year, but watched his tears fall endlessly onto the ground beneath him, he had finally realized that Elder Tales was no place for Levi.
Taking a deep breath, he rubbed his hands roughly with his fingers drying any tears that continued to fall. While Levi may not have been suited to Elder Tales, Zyrune, the pink haired half-alv was. The druid who the boy could hide within while outwardly appearing as if everything was perfect, as if nothing bothered him. Zyrune could be his barrier, Zyrune could help save him from himself he just needed to let him. He needed to let the character take over him, let the character do the talking, let the character face the world he was born in, let the character carry him back to his sister.
_____
"Yes I did like him, but that has changed." The lander spoke as his eyes poured over the sorcerer before him. "It has changed because I don't want it any more." Again he paused but this time he shrugged. "Sometimes things don't work out, believe that or don't." The lander spoke rather matter of factually. "I like you Jacoben." This time he turned to face the smaller dual eyed man. "There is something about you..." He paused and felt his face blush slightly, despite his confident grin. "I don't know what it is, perhaps it is those eyes that make me lose my thoughts each time I gaze into them, or maybe its that curious expression that you wear that pulls at my heart and makes me want to draw you close." The lander shrugged again. "Believe that if you want, but it is the truth." The last word was emphasized. "I want you, I want to pull you close and feel you against my chest, I want to fix those strays of grey hair that constantly seem to fall in front of yours beautiful eyes, I want to hear you curse at me with that accent with as much passion as before." He took a deep breath as he studied the man before him. "Yes Zyrune and I had a connection, but that is over. I realized it before today but it took me until I saw you to realize how much it was true." He looked away from the foxtail towards the stage where the druid had stood. "Believe that or don't but I don't want to lie anymore." He shook his head tearing his gaze from the stage to rest them on the foxtail once more. "I'll only ask you once, let me kiss you." Ran his tongue over his lips as he watched the foxtail. "If you say no I'll leave you alone, but I promise you if you let yourself say yes, you won't regret it." The last sentence was spoken with such force and passion, the lander stood fists scrunched up, his heart racing, beating against his chest as if it were a trapped animal dying to be released from the iron bars that constricted it's movements. As he watched the sorcerer think, he couldn't help but feel guilty for the way things had ended for the druid and him but he couldn't punish himself for it, he wouldn't punish himself for it. And he was true to his word, if the foxtail truly wanted him to leave, then he would, no questions ask. He would turn away from the foxtail and disappear into the crowd, but if the man accepted his offer, he would pull him close with such force, such need and desire that it would even surprise himself. He inhaled the man's soft scent before attacking his lips in a delicate yet hungry fashion with a desire he had long refused to acknowledge. He hoped the sorcerer would decide in his favor but he wouldn't force the younger man. No he could already see how this afternoon had played on the young man's mind and he was sorry that they hadn't met on better terms, yet they still had a chance and even if that chance was slim, he needed to grasp it and hold onto it firmly.

[attr="class","boneshatter3"]If the Elder Tale gods were listening, or even if they existed, Ducky would have said that they listened and answered his prayer, sending an unknown young man over to talk to him. Ducky was certain he had seen him wandering around the festival before. Maybe another stand? Playing some games? It wasn't important because now Ducky had someone to talk to, maybe even walk around and have a good time with! But then he spoke. Ducky wasn't sure what to make of him starting off stuttering like that. He was probably nervous about approaching a stranger; it seemed to be a common theme for people in today's society. Ducky was an oddball of sorts, so he always assumed that if there were a specific rule or norm for society, he would be on the opposite end. "No, not worried. Simply intrigued by the process." And seconds later, he heard someone shouting about their love for rugby. So far he had heard nothing juicy or interesting from these. "Besides, what could be the harm?" Without hesitation, the young cleric stepped forward and received a piece of candy from the vendor. He rolled it around in his hand, looking at it from different angles. It didn't look like anything special, really. "Does it have a taste, unlike everything else here?" His gaze switched from the piece of candy in his hand to the stranger, curiously smiling as if he were about to do something very stupid. Normally he would have stood there, staring at it and picking to see what all it was made of. That's how his mind worked, after all. He loved to take things apart and put them back together, observing the mechanics of how this one part spun and affected these other three parts. Candy, though, was far less mechanical yet more difficult to find out. He certainly wasn't a chef, so trying to pick apart all the ingredients in candy was futile. He never even attempted to level chef, knowing fully well he hated to cook in the real world much less in Elder Tale. But enough with the analysis! It was time for his grand moment, the moment the stranger was probably waiting for. Without a second thought, Ducky tossed the candy into the air and caught it in his mouth, putting on a show as he chomped down on the candy that would reveal his innermost love. Before he could comment on how the candy tasted, he felt himself taking in a large breath of air, ready to shout everything. Man, this place is swank-ay…I feel like I’m offending the atmosphere in here just by breathing Ox thought to himself as he took in his surroundings a second time. The craftsmanship in the paneling and moldings were intrinsically detailed. If you were to knock a chunk out of the wall, you’d probably be up to your eyeballs in debt and dish-washing duty to compensate for the damages. His eyes traveled around the room, staring at all the people once again in their ornate outfits, but now that he looked at the clothes, they all seemed to be a bit…tacky almost. Don’t get Ox wrong, some of them were pretty snazzy and fashionable for such a posh dining house, but some of them were murder on the eyes. Lime green and orange shirt with purple pants? Somebody call the Royal Guards for maliciously assaulting his poor retinas within city limits. Then he turned his eyes back to his dinner companions, Midori and Charuen, merely intending to do a passing glance to see if he could gauge how they were feeling. But as soon as he saw the pink-haired cleric staring back at him, he couldn’t tear his gaze away. He found himself looking into those grey-blue orbs of hers, wondering if the world she through hers was the same that he saw through his as well. His eyes traveled around as he continued to stare at her face, burning every detail in his mind so he would forget. He dancing eyes. Her gentle smile. Her cute little nose. Every detail that could possibly be described by the author had now been etched into the mind of his character for him to draw upon whenever he so desired. Memories leading back to that dance they shared in Snowdonia came rushing back into his mind as he stared into those eyes, feeling the same bit of exhilaration now that he felt back then. How long he gazed upon her lovely visage, he did not know.Upon hearing Midori’s statement and realizing that he’d been staring too long at the pinkette, he turned to face the raven-haired heretic. As he heard the bit about fancier clothes, he stared down at his extremely casual wear, fiddling with one of the drawstrings on his jacket hood as he opened up his menu. To his not-so-surprise, all of the dishes listed in the menu seemed to have something to do with this commonly-seen but uncommonly-known fruit that went by the moniker of Coconia Fruit. As he skimmed through the list, the sudden sound of a loud, heavily-accented Englishman rang throughout the restaurant. The guardian turned to face this new arrival to the restaurant as he entered, the name “Milesian Ramsey”, the last name looking especially familiar to Oxford. As he listened to the level 90 chef describe as to what the whole purpose of their presentation was, the chef gesturing to those in the VIP section about their menus and the selections they could make. Excitement filled the guardian as he looked at the entries, but felt his heart drop a little when he read the selection rules inside the menu. “Aww, we can only choose one of each…?” he said to no one in particular, a small sigh escaping from him afterwards. At this point, the burly waiter from before came to their table with his order pad ready, talking in a surprisingly soft voice that seemed to match the ambience around them as he made his own remark. “Yes sir, only one of each to ensure that there is enough to go around for the other VIP patrons attending,” the waiter said as he jotted something down on his order pad. Once he was done with that, he turned his gaze to those sitting at the table. “Excuse moi for the interruption, but are you all ready to place your orders? The sooner they’re placed, the faster the chefs can prepare the dishes for you to enjoy.” Oxford looked over his menu again, trying to decide what he wanted from the selection before him. “Let’s see…I think I’ll go with the…Spiced Pork Terrine?” he said, stumbling over the last word since Oxford was what some would consider an ‘uncultured swine’ in the world of cuisine. The waiter nodded as he waited for the guardian to order his second and third dishes, his massive hand almost hiding the order pad from view (seriously, it looked like the man was tatooing Ox’s order on the inside of his palm).“Alright, for the second part, um…Roasted Chicken Breast and…Boudeen? Bowdin (gah, how do you say this) Boudin Blanc? Yeah, that one.” Ox paused for a moment, scanning over the dessert options to find one with a name that he could actually pronounce. “And for dessert, I’ll take the Coconia Chocolate. That’s it from me and apologies for butchering the pronunciation for the names.” After he was done stumbling through all that and feeling somewhat stupid, he closed his menu and placed it next to him as he waited for the others to place their orders as well. |

Words: 515 It seemed he’d gotten the wrong impression of the adventurer; he was merely intrigued, not wary. Normally, that would have made Shuwen quickly back out while giving a stammered apology, but the mage didn’t seem to mind being approached so suddenly. If anything, he might have been glad for it. Shuwen brought up his interface to check the adventurer’s data. Apparently, he was a Cleric named… Rubber Ducky? That was certainly an odd name “Um, what would you prefer to be called? ‘Cause your username is a bit… yeah.” He wasn’t really sure how to respond to it. Should he really just call the guy Rubber Ducky? He’d have a hard time doing it without laughing, especially if they happened to get into a serious situation. Seriously, Rubber Ducky? The Cleric asked about the food’s taste, or potential lack thereof. As someone who’d taken the Chef crafting class, he could very well understand why he was so concerned about it; cooking food with actual taste was a fairly new thing in Elder Tales, and despite it’s lack of relative practical use, it was one Landers and Adventurers alike could still appreciate. “They seem to have made all the food here by hand, so yeah, it’s got taste, you don’t need to worry about that.” He hadn’t personally overseen them making the candy, as he had the steaks and such, but there didn’t seem to be any other reason why it would be otherwise; he’d already been shown how to make the cookies firsthand. Why wouldn’t the other sweets have just as much taste to them? Rubber Ducky finally decided to try a piece of candy, staring at it for a moment as if it would unveil the secrets of the universe to him if he stared at it long enough. When he was ready, he tossed it into the air and swallowed it with a dramatic flourish. The Monk wasn’t sure if the candy was supposed to be eaten like that, but he didn’t want to ruin the moment, so he didn’t comment. As expected, the Cleric’s face quickly turned red and he enthusiastically revealed one of his hobbies. “Helping people, hmm?” He asked with a short grin. “As good a hobby as any I guess.” He added cheerfully, attempting to wave off any mortification on the Cleric’s part. The last person that had eaten a coconia dish during a conversation with him had run off after doing so, unable to deal with the embarrassment of admitting he loved his parents, which was a real shame in Shuwen’s opinion, there was no reason to be embarrassed about something like that. “So what do you want to do next? Most people seem to be headed for the Dimensional theater, or are busy getting drunk, or some combination of the two.” Having spent too much energy on carnival games, most of the festival’s participants had begun settling into less exhausting ways to pass the time. Shuwen probably had enough energy to spare for whatever the Cleric was up to, despite the grueling cooking lesson he’d endured earlier.

Rook stumbled through the gate. She'd taken the first job that had been on offer. The pay didn't matter she just didn't want to stop this journey. Stumble as she may.
The job was simple, sign a contact, take up the quest to deliver a box to a person here. No payment required on delivery and no names.
That wasn't really a problem. As a Courier she could make it happen, just needed 100 meters or less. She knew generally where the destination would be today. Somewhere in the singles awareness festival in Stratford. Four locations to cover and one day to do it in. Simple, if only she'd thought to buy a map.
If only it wasn't so heavy... not the box itself which was sealed and nondescript. The atmosphere, people everywhere happy couples proving how happy and coupled they were showing off how happy and coupled they were. Grand and noxious public displays of affection, dancing and canoodling... couldn't they just keep it to holding hands? Surely that was enough... that would be enough for her.
Was she a solo, was that how she looked? Dark glances left and right, avoiding the masses. No, she wouldn't revel in it... she was a professional. Do the job, find another job. Or stick around a little... if she could handle this much for a little longer no doubt it would be easier later.
She jogged through the sites. She wasn't too familiar with Stratford, having come here only rarely but there were helpful guides to the four sites. Of the festival, worst comes to worst she could just run into the larger groups of people and one would be illuminated. The hiking trails would be tough though lots of ground to cover and she didn't have the speed boost skill yet.
She went from one location to the next, searching rarely stopping. Keeping a professional facade up. Were those people feeding each other, bah, stop playing with that expensive... delicious food. She was hungry, the smells weren't helping.
One location to the next, was that steak? The coconut things were a little off putting, she'd never been fond of it. Food, after the delivery there would be food.
She went from one location to the next searching. The going was frustrating, weaving through crowds, the relief when exiting the crowds and breaking into a jog again. At some point she idly realised that in reality she should be dripping with sweat from exertion. In fact she'd probably have not been able to make it this far at all. Instead she wasn't even pushing herself to keep this up. It wasn't quite at the same level she was at before with the physical class and statistics but still.
There it was, the beacon. Rook diverted sharply and made her way through the crowds.
“Excuse me.” Rook said as she pushed through. “I have a delivery for you.” she took out the box and held it out to the illuminated stranger.

Two Bodies, One Mind Hp: 100 Mp:100 So apparently valentines day was an excuse to celebrate, when the cleric had heard the news of a possible festival in town she had rolled her eyes. However now that she was in the midst of it strolling down one of the large market streets of carnival grounds. However due to the revealing nature of her skirt, the cleric had decided against wearing her normal attire around a place such as this, instead choosing to instead borrow a friends vanity attire. With her hair in a bun with an array of different accessories, she strolled the carnival wearing an ankle length yukata with a lotus and lily pad pattern sewn into it, that matched with a yellow obi and her outfit was complete. For once the cleric actually felt calm around others, for the past year it had been awkward encounter after awkward encounter from people of the lander and adventurers due to her revealing attire that she still regretted choosing for her character, however it suited her when she was in battle allowing her the freedom to move which was something she liked.
Despite the uniqueness of her outfit, Parasole was quite surprised at how she fitted in with other adventurers as it seemed others had used the festival as an excuse to dress up too. The only thing that set her apart was that she was alone whereas most people had already for a partner or had simply attended the festival in grounds, something she know regretted. Letting a small sigh pass over her lips, she decided not to let it get to her as she took in the sights, the amount of colours used alone were enough to amaze you. She guessed that it must have taken weeks of serious hardcore crafting to get everything in order and as she walked she couldn't help but wonder what kind of crafting class had been used for each.
At the moment she had kept her housekeeping and chef skill pretty much at the basic level despite chef being a very popular skill due to the ability to create great tasting food. Every now and again as she walked and adventurer or two would yell out something stupid like I LOVE CABBAGE or something to that effect. She couldn't help giggle as a rather meek looking adventurer roared that she loved it when people tickled her chin. Rubbing her hands together as she moved, the cleric let the different types of scents and smells direct where she moved. She had heard that there were unique coconia style items that were available and knowing that they were the cause of the random sudden bursts of secret telling, she knew to stay away from them, however other foods were still in abundance and she had decided to try a couple and enjoy what was left of the festival before it was gone for another year.
Fidgeting with her hair for a moment, she sighed with frustration as strayt strands seemed to pop out of her bun. She still after an entire year wasn't used to this body and the festival only seemed to exaggerate how much height she had actually lost.
“They seem to have made all the food here by hand, so yeah, it’s got taste, you don’t need to worry about that.”
The voice was loud enough to attract the cleric's attention and she glanced over towards its source. Two handsome adventurers seemed to be having a very nice time together, it was nice to see gay couples open about their relationships even in the world of Elder Tales. However the two only seemed to remind the girl what she had lost when the event had occurred. Watching the two converse for a moment. “So what do you want to do next? Most people seem to be headed for the Dimensional theater, or are busy getting drunk, or some combination of the two.” The blue haired one which the interface revealed to be Shuwen seemed to have energy to keep going while the other one. She paused as she read the name, RubberDucky. Parasole couldn't help but let out a small giggle at she wasn't the only one with a silly name, but she had to admit the man's was much funnier.
"Dimensional theater?" The cleric said aloud without meaning to blushing as she realized that she had said it loud enough for the two to hear. "Sorry I didn't mean to listen in, but you are so cute together."

"Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."
|
Jac felt the lump in his throat swell further, the tears building in his eyes and welling up at the corners as he found himself unable to speak for a few heartbeats. "Why?" he managed to murmur, struggling to get the word out of his mouth with the heaviness of the emotions he was feeling. He didn't really know what he meant by it, just that it was the only real word that he could bring himself to say. Why him perhaps? Even with everything the Lander said Jac could hear his mental voice begin to list the negative traits he saw in himself, the reasons why no one would ever really be romantically interested in him.
Scrawny! his mind told him, geeky, speckled scarecrow with terrible eyesight the words seemed stronger than Tadashi's words, overwhelming the young Sorcerer as he trembled in place unable to run or even collapse as he tried to figure out how he felt about this turn of events. All he had been doing was drinking cider and now he had ended up here with a confession of interest. How had it come to this? He should have stayed home, stayed out of the stupid valentines event that celebrated a holiday that had never had any meaning for him.
No one wants you, not even your parents, the voice whispered menacingly, a manifestation of his own low self esteem and self-doubts. He felt hollow, an icy emptiness sweeping through him as he began to spiral into distaste for himself, a practice he was quite experienced with over the years of poor treatment by his parents. Before he could continue to dredge up the old and well used insults against himself he felt tentative arms close around him, shocking him into further shudders and causing him to raise his eyes up to stare at Tadashi as tears began to fall slowly down his cheeks. They weren't yet the sobs of someone truly upset, simply the flowing of tears from one whose emotions were so strong they couldn't be contained within the body.
Tadashi was warm and his arms were strong, at least in Jacoben's mind, the feeling of being held so foreign and so unexpected that he was snapped out of his spiral of self loathing and settled for staring up at the larger male with a look of surprise seemingly etched into his features. He didn't pull back though, the emptiness that had begun to hollow him out overwhelmed by the sudden sensation of being in the arms of another. Even amidst all the mental turmoil Jac couldn't help but feel comforted by the foreign feelings, his voice caught in his throat as he tried to work out all the many factors which contributed to his current emotional state.
And then rough lips were against his own, seeming to have been a sudden change in situation yet at the same time coming with the inevitability of the shifting continents. Tadashi had given him plenty of time to express a lack of interest or willingness, even in his overwhelmed mind Jacoben recognised this, but then all thought left him as the joining of their lips seemed insufficient to the Lander's wishes. Wide eyes of sapphire and topaz stared unseeing as the Foxtail's mouth was gently but firmly pressed open and a tongue that was not his own introduced to his teeth and palate for the first time in his life.
Pressed against the older man and having his mouth practically attacked (in a gentle fashion) Jac tried to come to terms with this new arrangement, his hands held just a little bit above Tadashi's shoulders as if he wasn't sure what to do with them. The Foxtail didn't really respond to the kiss, too overwhelmed physically, mentally, and emotionally to be an active participant. It might have lasted minutes, it might have only been a few seconds, Jacoben was in no state to judge the passage of time, but eventually the kiss came to an end and he was left staring up at Tadashi in a state of shock and confusion. For a moment he seemed frozen, unresponsive to any stimuli, but then his face screwed up and his face was pressed against the Lander's broad chest as his slight body was wracked with sobs.
He was completely silent even as tears streamed down his face, only the telltale shuddering of his shoulders and back giving him away. It was too much, too many shocks and surprises to his system leading to becoming overwhelmed by the whole situation. After a few minutes the tears began to slow and his breathing evened out until he was simply resting his head on Tadashi's chest, one arm coming up to wipe at his face before he would even think of looking up. This wasn't some movie or perfect romance scene, this was reality, and reality when someone cried their face became a mess.
Once satisfied that he had cleaned up as best he could the small Sorcerer continued to lean against Tadashi, unable or unwilling to stand unaided or be seen by the larger man. "I..." he began quietly, hesitating briefly before continuing at a volume just audible over the performances in the background, "no one has ever been interested in me...and I...I don't know what to do." Here the Foxtail paused once again, ears drooped in tiredness and tails held low towards the ground. He hadn't even noticed the fact that his second tail had become visible, it had probably happened sometime during the embrace or kiss when he lost his concentration.
"I can't guarantee anything," Jacoben continued, face tilted to the ground as he tried to put his thoughts into some semblance of order. "We barely know each other and I've never...even thought that someone would be inclined to think of me like that. That's not something that can just go away. But perhaps..." here the silver haired teen swallowed nervously, pulling away to stand on his own two feet but still not meeting the Lander's eyes as he tried to get the words out. "Perhaps it could become something...but only if you really mean it," here the foxboy looked up at last, his heterochromatic eyes vulnerable but serious, "you have to mean it, if you just want a fling I want nothing to do with that. Don't be cruel...please"

If I, fall for you
I'll never recover Tadashi watched as waves of emotions poured over the smaller man's face. Feeling his heart speed up, he watched the emotions filter through Jacoben's face, doubt, sorrow, pain, hurt and embarrassment. Hurt filled his eyes and clung to his face. He knew he hadn't been given permission to, but he couldn't stop himself either. Refusing to say anything, he drew the man in, wrapping his arms around the smaller man's soft body breathing in his smell, he held him close, protectively, lovingly.
As the sorcerer gazed up at him in shook, he knew it was his only chance, he had to act now before the foxtail succumbed to the pain and hurt that rocked him. Holding the grey haired fox tail tight, he lowered his head, seeking the man's lips. It was everything Tadashi had expected, literal sparks ran through his body as the smaller man let him take the lead. The man tasted and smelled intoxicating, he needed him.
AS they parted lips, he let smiled as the foxtail buried himself in his chest. Could Jacoben get any cuter. With one hand wrapped protectively around his back securing his place next to the man's body, his other ran through the shorter adventurer's hair softly as sobs racked his body. He refused to say anything, he simply stood there holding him. "no one has ever been interested in me...and I...I don't know what to do." The lander hushed him and only held him closer a smile plastered on his face. "Don't do anything, I'm here." He whispered as his hands rubbed the shorter man's back softly trying to provide as much comfort as he could.
"I can't guarantee anything," The soft voice spoke from his chest. "We barely know each other and I've never...even thought that someone would be inclined to think of me like that. That's not something that can just go away. But perhaps..." The lander just smiled as he listened to the sorcerer talk. He knew the man needed to get it out, needed to say it. It was clear that he had held inside so much worry, pain and hurt inside for so long that it the man had started to believe it. As he sighed softly, the lander vowed that he would never let him go, not with a fight, he repair the damage done to this sweet soul and any one that crossed Jacoben would suffer.
"Perhaps it could become something...but only if you really mean it," With his hands wrapped around the boys body, he gazed down towards the man with such joy. The fox tail's words were like honey to him, wrapping him in warmth. "you have to mean it, if you just want a fling I want nothing to do with that. Don't be cruel...please" Instinctively the lander pulled him closer smiling down into those eyes that perpetually sparkled under the festival lights. Leaning down without saying a word Tadashi made contact with his lips once more, this time with a softness which contrasted greatly with the passion of the previous kiss. Slowly he broke the kiss but hovered just above the shorter man's face, staring into his eyes, he felt his heart swell. "You've made me the happiest man in Londinium." He smiled as he gazed into the shorter man's eyes.
He understood how the shorter man felt and he would go slow, Jacoben needed love and care and a lot of attention, but it would be worth it, seeing him smile, seeing those eyes sparkle as he spoke, it would be worth it. Lowering his face, he stole one more kiss, soft and slow.

Words: 352 For some reason, Rubber Ducky wasn’t very quick to respond to his questions, something Shuwen found to be a little weird, and more then a little awkward under the circumstances. However, he had other things to worry about, and couldn’t exactly dwell on the issue for long. As they were interrupted twice. First by a female Cleric, who according to the interface was named parasole. She was oddly enthusiastic, apologizing for overhearing their conversation and even complimenting them. Cute? For some reason her choice of words seemed… off. He wasn’t sure why. Was she flirting with them? Or did she mean cute in a different sense? He couldn’t really tell from the way she said it. Stupid ADHD.However, he didn’t have time to dwell on that either as courier named Rook came up to him with a package in hand. “Eh?” Shuwen wasn’t friendless per say, but he wasn’t really on good enough terms with anyone in the game to warrant someone sending him a package on Valentine’s day. Or at least, that’s what he thought. Opening the rectangular brown box revealed something both expected and unexpected; a flashy, glittery red heart shaped box one might expect to receive on Valentine ’s Day, with all the frills one could imagine. For a second his eyes widened, but within a few seconds they quickly narrowed. Instead of opening it right away, he checked the box’s description and flavor text. Due to how the interface worked, the others wouldn’t be able to see what it read unless they checked the description themselves, but if they did it would read the following; “Tsh.” With a flick of his wrist, he deposited the box into his inventory unopened. Such things should be expected on a day when emotions are bound to be running high. “It was just a prank, leave it be.” He told the others present. However, even as he said that, he realized it would probably just draw more attention to it. This… will not end well.

As the druid walked towards the exit of the festival he couldn't help but feel as the world was closing in on him. Overreacting was his thing and he wasn't about to stop, despite being fully aware that this wasn't the end of the world, not even close, he couldn't help but feel his heart twist and ache as he imagined Tadashi with the young foxtail. Taking a shaky breath, he couldn't help but feel backed into a corner without any chances of escape from the pain and embarrassment at the moment.
As he walked, he couldn't help but grow irritated at the smiles and joy plastered on people's faces and yet it only made him wallow more. He knew it wasn't their fault that he had been abandoned, nor was it their responsibility to care about someone who they didn't know. Still none of helped him, instead he continued to trudge along imagining the worst was happening between Tadashi and Jacoben, he shuddered as he imagined the two laughing at his foolishness and he chided himself for even thinking that he and the lander had even had a connection.
Zyrune couldn't help but feel as if the past year had been a lie and that he was back at square one. However that wasn't the case, he was a higher level now, he was in a guild and had managed several impressive feats since coming into this world, he just needed to focus on the positives. Wiping away tears, he continued on, vowing to allow himself one day of self pity before he needed to move on with things.

Quest complete. The light faded away revealing a Wolfhair she didn’t know.
“Delivery complete, have nice day.” Rook said, making a gesture she felt was like tipping an imaginary hat.
It seemed the Wolfhair wasn’t what she would describe as overjoyed to receive the flashy sparkly seasonal gift. However that was none of her business and she really didn’t want to be pestered about a sender she knew nothing about. Rook turned on her heel and (with a subtle sideways nod to Parasole) set off to get a sufficient distance away.
Phew, this place was seriously draining. Somehow, it made her wish she had more stylish clothes. She wondered what she could look like in yukata… but quickly dismissed the thought there was no way she could wear that in public. Why not? She couldn’t quite put it into words.
With all the human traffic she could hardly think. If only she could hurry home and … no, she didn’t have book to read right now. Actually, she wondered if there were any good fictional books in this place. This would be something worth investigation. at some point.
The clothing thing intruded on her thoughts again. Why was it that her clothing of all things would bother her today. She normally just didn’t care.
Oh, that was it.
She dressed like she just didn’t care, and she was in a mob of people either wearing level appropriate equipment or who paid special attention to their outfits today. She stuck out.
