[attr="class","threadinfo"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialCharacters Adler, EadonStatus Private[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 511 wordsAs Adler walked back to town from a small incident (unlike the childish Guardian named Rowan, she wasn't a stubborn and proud teenager; she realized now that it was crucial to obtain better equipment, so she would), she took a risk and contemplated on the events that just transpired. One: I am a coward. If a brave and competent-looking player hadn't been there, she would probably have run away and left the two to die. It wasn't as bad as it seemed; they would eventually resurrect at the Cathedral of the major city they last visited, which in this case meant London. Though there was a penalty to pay, it wasn't too steep a price for immortality; players would lose a percentage of their accumulated experience, plus all the gold they had on hand, and they would also be open to looting. All of this was consistent with the Elder Tales game as they knew it. The main reason Adler preferred to stay alive was that she didn’t want to get used to being immortal and accidentally kill herself if and when she ever returned to the real world. “Oh wait, I can die now. Noooo!” seemed like a horrible way to go. Two: I am easily demoralized. Alyanna’s despair had been contagious, and she caught it almost immediately. But why? Her lack of decent equipment, in addition to an incompatible race and class had only troubled her theoretically before today. There was probably something profound in how people couldn’t escape feeling inadequate even when they’ve somehow been transported into a game where everything is beautiful, but Adler had limited capacity for such deep thinking. A quick fix, namely purchasing better equipment, should do the trick. Retail therapy solved many problems. Three: I need friends. But it was so difficult. How is anyone supposed to trust anyone if stealing and death by PK might not be so taboo anymore? Trust usually came with getting to know a person better, but the ever-changing personas Adler switches to seemed to turn people off. Though she could always be more normal and easy to have around, Adler refused to acknowledge that solution. She needed to find people who could put up with her insanity. More urgent however, was Adler’s search for new equipment. With no one to seek recommendations from, Adler roamed London for a player blacksmith. The People of the Land sold generic armor, but the pieces were all level five at the most. Player blacksmiths could craft equipment even higher than that if they had the right materials, and Adler figured she might as well get the best equipment she could. That is, if she could. Elder Tale London didn’t have yellow pages or any kind of directory to refer to. After scouring St. Pancras Station for a bit, she got hungry and decided to stake out the crafting NPC’s forge. As the services were free (she should know; the Artisan equivalent was, so there was no reason for the Blacksmiths’ not to be), a good blacksmith would probably come along. Right? It had been a pretty long day so far, Eaodn had been out all morning training and trying his best to level up some without dying. At least, not too painfully. It had come pretty close, a couple of times. If it hadn't been for Endrin and his awesome guardian like skills, then Eadon had no doubt he would have recorded his first death earlier today, while wandering out in the woods.
Yawning loudly, Eadon ran a thumb over the spot on his chest where the gloop from a slime had hit into him earlier. He had gotten the injury healed of course, but it was still kind of weird that it could just go away, not even leaving a scar.
Shrugging it away, Eadon continued on into St. Pancras Station, intent on picking up some materials then finding his way to a forge and spending the remainder of the afternoon blissfully ignoring the world and crafting something. He didn't even particularly care what, honestly enough. The copper headed sorcerer just wanted to try and drown out and forget the somewhat mentally scarring experience of almost dying earlier, with some hard work.
It had been pretty scarring, too. No amount of training or mental resolve, or repeatedly telling yourself that it was all a game and you would happily respawn in the cathedral even if you were to die meant very little, when faced with the actual thing. Getting hit by attacks hurt, and he had no doubt that dying wasn't exactly going to be a pleasant experience either. Shuddering a little, and finding himself in the busy and bustling blacksmith portion of the St Pancras Station area, Eadon tried his best to put thoughts of death and injury out of his mind.
A hot forge, a few hammers and some grinding stones could do wonders for you, if properly used, after all. The heat and the concentration required didn't necessarily leave room for much else, in terms of thoughts.
Flicking open his menu, Eadon was surprised to learn that he had already hit level 10 in his blacksmithing subclass. I guess it's easier to level, when you're having fun, he mused. Though, his slightly higher - if only barely - level meant he would need to go find a source for higher leveled crafting materials soon if he wanted to actually utilise his newly higher level for something other than just making beginner gear.
Distracted as he was, Eadon still couldn't help but notice the rather out of place guardian leaning up against one of the walls and seemingly scanning the crowd for something. Considering where she was, and the rather shabby state of her equipment, Eadon could make a few informed guesses as to what it was that she was looking out for.
Smiling, Eadon walked up to her. "Hello there, my name's Eadon," he said cheerily, his face as usual plastered with an almost infectious grin, "From where you are and from that rather sorry starter equipment you're wearing, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that the reason you are loitering in the blacksmith's hall is that you are in the market for some new gear?"
Pausing briefly to take a breath, Eadon looked over her critically - eyeing the equipment she had on. It was truthfully the same as his, though he was of course still too low level to use some of the nicer equipment that he could no doubt make. hence why he had been out in the first leveling, earlier...
"Was there something in particular you were after? I can probably take a stab at making it for you, if you would like. We just need some materials, and we can go make a start on it," Eadon added, deciding to go with his intuition for why the stranger was here. He always had been a bit too familiar with strangers for his own good. | WORDS: 657 TAGS: AdlerSONG: Thrift ShopNOTES: Here ya go. Sorry for how long it took me to post. [attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 473 wordsFew people seemed to want to stop and talk about smithing, which was ironic given her location. While she searched and waited for a willing (though she’d settle for slow-moving) individual to pass by, Adler kept fidgeting. She wasn’t a sparkling immortal being with a penchant for blood yet nothing flowing through her veins; if she kept to one position for too long, something was bound to feel numb, signaling that she needed to move if she didn’t want to cripple herself later on. First, she stood with her arms crossed, shifting from one foot to another every so often. After a few minutes, she folded her arms behind her back and allowed herself to slouch a little. Pretty soon she was doing lunges and hopping from side to side, like she was walking on coals. It was horribly embarrassing, but boredom was a pretty good motivator when she was as riled up as she was now. ‘Didn’t realize Rowan got to me so much.’ Resolved to be more patient, she eventually settled on crossing her arms while she leaned against a wall and acted cool, though the disbelieving expressions on the People of the Land’s faces irked her. There. Someone seemed to have spotted her before she did him; a young man who was probably in his teens and had a generally gold coloring to his features was already walking over to where she stood in the smithy. She returned the cheerful grin on his face with one of her own, welcoming a disruption of her solitary state. “You would be right. Do many people come here looking for better equipment, or am I that transparent?” She forced herself to keep still as he very blatantly looked her over. ‘He’s just looking at your armor. It’s not like you’re naked or anything.’“I just need some basic level ten equipment; simple well-fitted plate armor, a weapon, and a shield.” Adler reached for her starter buckler and kunai, showing the friendly Sorcerer her well-used armaments. “I’ve been thinking about giving in to the whole great-shield-plus-sword thing, though I really like the idea of having a stone axe. Not an axe made of stone of course, but one made to break it . I’m actually an Artisan. I need it to be one-handed of course, to go with the shield, or do you think I should get a wooden one instead? It seems lighter anyway. Sorry.” Adler smiled as she bit her lip. Strange; it must have been because Eadon looked like an easy guy to talk to, but she was babbling again. Hopefully she hadn’t chased another one off. “I hope I’m not talking your ear off. Oh!” She exclaimed, suddenly remembering what he said to her. “I have the materials with me right now. Unrefined Metal, Basic Coal, and Old Quencher, right?”[googlefont=Delius] [newclass=.adler_post, .adler_post:hover, .adler_post > *, .adler_post > *:hover, .adler_post > * *, .adler_post > * *:hover]-webkit-transition: all 0.3s linear; Eadon thought for a second, mulling the question over in his head. Really she hadn't been to transparent, though at the same time people didn't really come here looking for gear all that much either. Weirdly enough, it was more as though it had just been a moment of clarity for him, in realising what she was there for. Huh. He didn't get those all too often.
"Umm, not really many people come here and you weren't too obvious," Eadon said in a rush, biting his lip almost subconsciously, "I just happened to notice you over there. Believe me, it's sort of a rarity. I am notorious for never notice things."
Eadon nodded at her request. He could do fairly basic level ten gears, no hassle. Well, probably at least. He was barely level 10 as a blacksmith, but even so... It shouldn't prove too hard, right? Better not to let her know that he only just met the requirements to make the gear she wanted, it might scare her off or something. Some people got really finicky over gear.
He listened and watched, as she showed him the gear she had, and explained what it was that she wanted. The plate armour would be time consuming, but hopefully not all that hard as far as things went. A stone axe... That one could prove trickier, but so long as he followed her rough descriptions of what it looked like he was sure he could make something that fit her request without too many headaches. Eadon nodded, ticking the two items off on his mental checklist.
"A metal shield shouldn't really weigh all that much more than an equivalent wooden shield," Eadon interrupted, wanting to make sure she had her facts right, "Compared to metal, you tend to need quite a bit more wood to make a properly durable and useful shield, so for the same amount of protectiveness I find metal to be a lot better. The other two though, will be easy enough."
Gesturing towards a furnace nearby, Eadon headed a bit deeper into the workshop, kind of assuming that she would follow along with him. Quickly claiming a free workspace, Eadon set out all of the tools he would need for the project with a contemplative look on his face, already envisaging the work that would be needed to craft the items she had requested.
Oh, right," Eadon replied belatedly, "the materials are fine. If you want I can get started? I never caught your name, by the way...? Never mind that. If you want to, you can put those Artisan skills to use and make the pieces of armour and weapons I finish look nice. I can make a good shield, or some strong armour, but they aren't exactly jewel studded works of art."
Apparently he became an almost entirely different person, once he got a hammer in his hands and some time to work his craft. The NPC smith he was apprenticed to said he took his work too seriously, and just let him be most of the time. Hopefully the suddenly serious demeanour wouldn't put his new... friend? Off too much. | |

[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 261 wordsA bit of Adler’s excitement wore off as Eadon answered one of her questions and explained about how wood wouldn’t be much lighter than a metal shield, given that the crafter aimed for the same level of protection and durability. ‘In other words, wood would be lighter if it were just about form.’ A thicker wooden shield to match a thinner metal one. Since Adler’s current skillset involved using her shield as a weapon, even if she wanted something lighter for a faster attack, she needed her shield to be durable if she didn’t want it breaking after just one use. “I’d definitely like a metal shield then.” She told Eadon, grinning sheepishly. He wasn’t so bad. When Eadon gestured towards one of the workstations further in, Adler nodded to show she understood and walked with him. He stopped in front of a table and set out his things, much like Adler had done at her flat. She tried imagining how to emboss or adhere decorations onto armor with the tools he brought out, but she didn’t really know what she was doing. If blacksmiths needed to heat up metal before they could work it, did that mean she’d have to do the same? Artisans didn’t have a bonus added to their fire resistance though. To any resistance, actually. It would’ve been neat to resist rock stuff, but that was probably too much. Adler grinned. “Yeah, that’d be great.” She would stick to painting for now. Maybe she’d ask Eadon to help her experiment with embossing or carving some other time. [attr="class","stats"] Notes Back to you, Don!

Nodding happily, Eadon quickly appropriated the nice shiny level ten crafting materials he would need for his blacksmithing from the still as yet unnamed guardian. Those things didn't come cheap, but then again he was in essence working for free. Not that Eadon really minded, per se. He wanted to make something, and she was here conveniently providing the things he would need to make something out of. It was a win-win situation for all of the parties involved. Not to mention, he would be able to utilise this opportunity to level up his crafting class a bit more.
After all, if he really wanted to be a master swordsmith extraordinaire some day in the future, he needed to start somewhere small.
"Alright, metal shield it is," he hummed happily, quickly sticking the necessary coal into the furnace, along with the chunks of unrefined metal, "One shield, coming right up, miss."
Of course, when he told her coming right up, what he really meant was maybe an hour or so of letting the metal form properly into the correct consistency, and roughly the right shape to be worked with for his purposes. The the slow and almost painfully loud process of beating the metal out nice and flat, and into a proper shield, without any weird inconsistencies or rough patches that would make his work appear as anything less than perfect.
While the young smith might not show it, and was happy to disparage his own work to others, Eadon did really try to make whatever he made as, well.... nice... as he could. He was no artisan, though. Luckily enough for him, the unamed guardian was so she could go about the process of beatifying the end product for him and he could get away scot-free, with no-one laughing at his fairly plain weaponry and armour.
"Almost done," Eadon said, through clenched teeth, using some sandpaper to finish filing off the edges on a strap he had put together for the back of the shield. Really, he was quite happy with how the piece had turned out. It had a nice rounded edge, rivets on all the edges in a nice even way that looked well made and sturdy and the shield itself had been shined up to a nice polish.
The final shape had turned out as a rough kite, with a point on top. The piece finished, Eadon grinned to himself before handing it over to the girl.
"Here you go, one metal shield down, two more things to go," Eadon said proudly, impressed with himself for how quickly he had managed to produce the desired item, "you can decorate it, while I make a start on that plate armour you wanted, okay?"
He shot her a friendly smile, before grabbing some more ingredients and humming to himself, before shoving those into the forge as well. She seemed pretty quiet for the most part, and had yet to tell her his name, but Eadon found he he was actually quite enjoying himself. A large part of that could be to do with having something to make, however.
All thought was quickly erased from his mind however, as Eadon got to work on the next piece of the order. | WORDS: 539 TAGS: AdlerSONG: Thrift ShopNOTES: We're going super speed! Have fun with the shield. ^^ |

[attr="class","adler_post c"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Artisan [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 391 wordsOne would have assumed that a typical meat-headed Guardian or even a dreamy-eyed artist would be uninterested in the processes that were involved with making equipment, but Adler was absorbed by them, and by Eadon in particular. It wasn’t that she harbored a secret love for metalwork or anything, but she thought it might be helpful if she knew how to imitate his movements precisely in the future. So she watched him carefully, scrutinizing everything from what he wore where to how he gripped a particular tool, noting the angles at which his arms were bent, or how flat the metal sheet was against the anvil when he shaped it to his liking. As her shield took shape, Adler’s focus veered away from Eadon’s hands and towards the piece of equipment. It was almost like he read her mind; the shape was exactly as she wanted it, with the right amount of curves around the edges and on the surface. She imagined fighting with this shield, the thick piece of metal being bashed into a monstrous opponent’s skull. She then imagined standing on the field of battle, one among a long line of shield-bearing soldiers, their armor gleaming in the rising sun’s light. Her shield… did not glint. It was not the black of a sleek limousine. In her mind’s eye, it was a black hole that ate all light. It would not be very impressive in battle, but in a dark dungeon, she would be difficult to find. That wasn’t to say that it would be so plain. Adler’s shield would have texture. If it weren’t possible for her to etch shallow grooves onto the metal, then she would settle for them to be made on a thick layer of paint. Her centerpiece would be the embossed face of the goddess of war, Bellona, while thinly grooved lines would stylize the entire piece, and reduce reflected light at the same time. With her current levels, she would only be able to make something plain. One day however, her armor will be breathtaking. When he was done, Eadon gave the shield to Adler. She gingerly held it in her hands, afraid of how hot the metal might still be. It was still warm to the touch, but not uncomfortably so. Adler whipped out her own tools and started painting the base. It was actually really nice, this kind of weird equilibrium that Eadon had found in his work, with the guardian watching on intently. It was even better when she started going at the shield with her paints and her own skills, creating a kind of comfortable and productive bubble of silence. Eadon felt bad that the loud sounds of a forge were intruding on it, but he sort of figured that was part of the spell they seemed to have found themselves under.
He knew next to nothing about this person, yet he was happy to make her gear with very little questions asked and not even a mention of payment for his services. Eadon smiled at the thought. He had always been like that, completely able to just get along with anyone and do before he thought.
Plus, an act of kindness for someone in need was exactly the kind of thing he should be aiming for here in Elder Tale, where so far most people seemed more concerned about their own problems than actually trying to make a functioning society.
Taking out some of the heated metal, Eadon slowly started hammering out a breastplate from it, eyes flicking occasionally towards his new silent companion to try and gauge the size. From here pleased reaction, he guessed that he had done well with the shield. Now he just needed to make sure the rest of the equipment making was up to scratch as well.
Hopefully it didn't look to much like he was perving on her, or something, Eadon thought with a frown. Not that she wasn't pretty, but he wasn't exactly eyeing her for those reasons, exactly. "Uh, don't mind my staring. I'm just trying to pick your size..." he finally mumbled, blushing a bit in embarrassment.
Pausing contemplatively, he made a few adjustments to the piece of armour so that it would hopefully fit her frame better. He was a fairly good judge of size, and though a tape measure could likely result in a perfect fit Eadon was pretty sure he would not actually need one. He could always make some tiny alterations later to get the fit right if he didn't succeed on his first attempt. Though he was fairly sure that he could, and would.
"It's fun working in silence and all," Eadon finally said, sounding like a happy kid who had found a new game to play or something, in a break while he was waiting for some of the metal to heat back up so he could continue hammering it into the right shape, "but you have barely told me anything about you. We can maybe ask some questions of each other to help pass the time while we work? Where are you from in the real world? I'm from The Isle of Skye up in the Scottish Isles myself."
He hoped he hadn't been to forward, or presumptuous, in asking her questions like that. But someone to talk to always was a good distraction, in Eadon's opinion. It also helped to make work fly by a lot faster, and you could learn some interesting things. | WORDS: 524 TAGS: AdlerSONG: Thrift ShopNOTES: We're going super speed! Have fun with the shield. ^^ |

[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 287 wordsAdler piled on the paint as thick as she could, though she stopped whenever she had to let it dry or when Eadon’s smithing progress piqued her interest. During one of these glances, she caught his eye. “Uh, don't mind my staring. I'm just trying to pick your size...” He said tentatively. Adler nodded in understanding, put down her brush and the shield, and accessed the interface to remove her armor. “This should help. Do you want me to pose in a certain way or…?” Eadon went back to his work. Adler didn’t pick up her things again while she waited for the Blacksmith’s verbal okay that she could go back to doing whatever she wanted. Whenever he looked back at her to check something, Adler tried to be considerate and lifted or lowered and turned body parts that his eye fell on to give him a better look. In hindsight she wondered why he didn’t just take her measurements, but she supposed that was inappropriate. He still hadn’t given her his permission to move when he spoke to her on an unrelated topic. “Oh. Right.” Adler bit her lip as she thought of what she could say. “Well, I’m Adler.” She said slowly. She hoped he wouldn’t ask her for her real name; she felt reluctant to give him that specific information. “I’m from Leeds. Umm, can I move now?” When he gave his assent, she relaxed and picked up her brush and shield. “I work in the States though.” She added, frowning as she thought about her coworkers and her job. She had probably been fired by now, which was too bad. She loved her job. “I’m an animator. I do digital stuff mostly. You?”[attr="class","stats"] Notes Sleeeeeepyyyy

Post by Eadon on Feb 5, 2014 9:03:51 GMT
Eadon couldn't help but blush even more, when she suggested posing in certain ways to help him get the size right. It was worse when she started to remove her armour, so he could use it as a basis for his current project. He was not really a prude, but having an attractive woman removing her clothes and posing for him was awkward in the extreme. Heck, Eadon got all messed up and tongue tied around anyone, gender not an issue, if they did weird stuff like that around him. He always had. His friends had always told him he was way too naïve about stuff, and he guessed they were right, given how easily embarrassed he was.
“Uhh, yeah. Just stay like that for a second,” Eadon finally said, realising she expected an answer from him, “I'll get the measurements down in no time. I'm pretty good at getting sizes, without measuring. It's a talent, I guess.”
Measurements finally done, Eadon let out a sigh of relief, before continuing on to make sure that the armour was sufficiently shaped. The next step would be polishing the armour, and smoothing out any inconsistencies in the work. The hard part was done, however, and the armour was starting to take shape. Maybe another hour or so of polishing and smoothing, and he would be able to consider it done, if not completely perfect. Then again, he never considered his work to be perfect, but that was apparently the sign of a good craftsman.
Working away as he was, Eadon almost missed when she finally told him her name. Adler, he thought bemusedly. It suited her, really. It was a good name. He wouldn't ask what she had been called back in Leeds, though. Nor would he tell her what his name had been back in the real world. That was a question you seemingly didn't ask people in this world and he was one hundred percent fine with that.
“Cool, I've never been to Leeds,” Eadon replied happily, still busily working on smoothing out the plate armour, “being an animator sounds like a really neat job. I was still a high school student back in the real world, but I was pretty hugely into fencing. I won trophies, and everything. If I hadn't gone on to pursue that, I probably would have joined the army. But then... Well... you know what happened. Apocalypse and everything.”
He suddenly felt a little weird, for being as young as he was. He had almost ben out of school and everything, but here was this woman who had lived a cool and exciting life doing interesting things and all he had been really any good at was sword fighting.
Knocking out the last major ding in the armour late, he moved over to the next station and grabbed a bunch of polishing stones and some other stuff to add a nice shine to the metal. Inside, he was wondering what Adler would want to paint on this one. The shield was looking pretty cool from the few glimpses he had gotten of her work.
“So, next question. Why did you choose your class when you joined Elder Tale?”

[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 501 wordsWhen she had decided on the outline of Bellona’s head, Adler quickly covered the rest of the shield in paint so she had time to add more layers and etch in the details she wanted. The paint job wasn’t smooth on purpose; the area where she wanted the war goddesses’ head would be slightly raised. She decided to carve the lines between layers rather than waiting for everything to dry up first, which would probably result in flaking and would destroy the details she wanted, making it sloppier than it needed to be. She glanced up at Eadon when he replied to her questions but put her focus back on her work. She didn’t mind he lack of eye contact, especially since they were both working on something. Highschool. She was right in thinking he was young then. Older people might scoff at people who call teenagers young while being in their twenties themselves, but if you thought about it in percentages and didn’t count the years a person spent as an unaware child, then Eadon was half her age at best. She wasn’t being a snob however, merely making an observation. They had an easy interaction thus far; Adler wasn’t about to go alienating people she actually got along with. She frowned at Eadon’s word-choice. She personally preferred calling it the Catastrophe, because she still hadn’t abandoned hope that she could go back to the real world. Calling it the Apocalypse just made it sound like the rest of humankind was dead, and they were the last people on earth. ‘But there are other servers.’ She suddenly realized. Maybe whatever happened to them happened everywhere. Their situation looked a little less bleak now. Adler huffed in response to Eadon’s next question. “Ha! It was supposed to be just for laughs.” She smiled wryly at him before going back to her shield. The lines wobbled in places, but her work on the shield was getting along. “While going through the options, the idea just popped into my head. A Race of Ritual Guardian who paints and tells the future. It was ridiculous, and I’d never had any of those before. I used to play a Monk, years ago.” And that just made her sound like she was going through a mid-life crisis. Good job, Isabella. “Not years years, just a few. I’m in my mid-twenties.” She clarified, trying to reduce their age gap from what she might have implied by talking like an old lady. “So you took fencing? That sounds cool. I wish I took up a sport or something. Are we playing twenty questions?” She said, trying to shift focus away from her. “So why did you pick Sorcerer? It’s quite an unorthodox pairing as well.” And when he finished answering, she interrupted him. “My turn. That last one didn’t count as it was one of yours. Hmm…” She tapped her chin out of habit, painting a bit of her hair from her absentmindedness. “Favorite food?” A safe choice. [attr="class","stats"] Notes We don't actually have to do twenty questions of course. Too long. >_>

“Well, I chose the sorcerer class because magic has always fascinated me,” Eadon answered, after musing over the most appropriate answer for a few minutes, “It just seemed like the best way to go somehow. And no, we don't have to play twenty questions if you don't want to.”
Really he had just been asking her questions to keep him occupied while he worked. She seemed to a pretty interesting person, and Eadon was always happy to make new friends when the opportunity presented itself. On that note... he sort of wished he could find a guild that would take him in as well, but that seemed about as unlikely to happen as pigs flying. Though in this world, Eadon wouldn't necessarily put it past them. He had heard of several guilds and groups getting ready to go and explore the nearby Windsor Castle dungeon, and was sort of interested in it himself.
In fact... Given the things she was requesting, it wouldn't surprise Eadon in Adler was one of those prospective dungeon runners herself. “What are you needing all of this high level gear for anyway?” Eadon asked, trying to confirm his suspicions without asking outright.
She would answer in her own time. Eadon continued working, happy to wait for her answer. They were both busy, so it wasn't as though they necessarily needed to talk it was just a way to fill silence.
If there was one thing Eadon really wished he could have while he was forging stuff, it was an mp3 player and some great music to help him concentrate and to work as a muse, of sorts. People always seemed to talk of muses these days as being for art and for writing, but even smiths and other crafters needed something to inspire them at times. Still, it was nice to have someone to talk to while he worked. It helped to fill the silence.
Back in Scotland, he had used to spend most of his time in his metal working classes with songs by his favourite band, Hollywood Undead, playing at super high volumes in his ears and blocking out the rest of the class in favour of drowning himself in a combination of work and lyrics. As a result, a lot of what he had made often found itself with a few words engraved on it. Silly things, usually. A couple of the times he had done it he had gotten into trouble – apparently the lyrics were inappropriate, or something.
Glancing up at Adler, Eadon smiled. She didn't strike him as the type who would mind a couple of words scrawled into the back plate. A signature of sorts. On the back of one of the armour plates, in a spot no-one who wasn't purposefully looking for it would ever notice, Eadon scrawled a few words. She was never going to notice, anyway.
The armour done, Eadon handed it over happily. “Here, armour is done, Adler. Next up on our list of things to be made is that axe you were after.”

[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 513 wordsWhen Eadon didn’t answer Adler’s question, she shrugged it off. Maybe the guy was just busy; it’s not like heated metal was dangerous or anything. She went back to her shield and added another layer of paint. “What are you needing all of this high level gear for anyway?” He asked out of the blue. Adler didn’t answer immediately. She remembered hearing about the Windsor Castle dungeon by overhearing an inappropriately loud player, which was fortunate for her, but not the overhearee. As far as she knew, word of the dungeon hadn’t spread that far yet. The less competitors for loot, the better. They would have a tactical advantage; earn what they’d need before player killers got wind of the location and rob successful dungeon runners blind. In any case, not long after hearing about said dungeon, she had helped form a guild with a few new friends and actually formed a party for it, and ever since then, she’d just been training her butt off to be as prepared as she could. Then again, Eadon seemed like a nice guy. Sneaking glances at him from under her eyelashes, she made up her mind. “Have you heard about a dungeon?” She asked. Adler could tailor her answer depending on what he already knew. It seemed he did know about it though, which made her smile in relief. She wouldn’t have to feel bad by keeping something from him. “Yeah. A few guildmates and I are gearing up for it.”Suddenly curious, Adler brought up Eadon’s status window again. Guildless. Interesting. Adler had already finished painting her shield and was letting the paint dry out when Eadon announced he had completed her set of armor. “One more to go.” She said cheerfully, smiling back at the Blacksmith as she took the suit of metal off his hands. The very first thing she did was equip it; by using the game’s interface, she bypassed the awkward process of putting it on. The armor appeared over her clothes and Adler studied the fit. It was a little off, but pretty good considering. The only way to get a perfect fit was to have an inner lining to cushion blows and stop the armor from jostling around, but Adler wasn’t too picky. She’d be replacing this one soon anyway. “It’s perfect!” She exclaimed, again using the interface to remove it from her body. Instead of disappearing into her bag however, Adler had it materialize in her arms. While the armor was smoothly burnished all over, there was something odd on the back that caught her eye. An inscription? She snorted. “Sorry. Allergy.” She said to Eadon, but in reality it was about the words he had put on her armor. Did he really think she wouldn’t see it? Just when you realize there's nothing left to regret Move on over, number one's about to rock it They were actually pretty cool. Good thing it wasn’t anything like, I'm waiting while you're lickin' suckin' getting a sweat On guy, guy, guy, guy Because that would have been awkward. He had definitely considered it as a possibility, but it was still a bit of a shock for Eadon to find out that Adler was actually part of one of the guild groups that was preparing to tackle the dungeon. It was no wonder that she was so ready to hand over such valuable materials to be made into equipment, then. She would need this, and more, if she hoped to stand a chance in there.
Most of the zones that people had dared to explore thus far contained monsters of not really much higher than level 15 or so. The monsters in the dungeon were rumoured to be even higher, and there would no doubt be a boss in there somewhere as well. Eadon resisted the urge to shudder at the thought. He was not afraid of death in this world, but going up against a thing like that dying would be almost an inevitability.
Not to mention getting killed was bound to hurt. Quite a lot.
Glancing up towards the sky, Eadon was surprised to find that it was coming into the afternoon and that some clouds had slowly drifted across the sky, blocking out the sun. They had been here for quite some time, working on their respective projects. It was fascinating watching how the dull light that still shone through played across the street, and through the buildings. As eery as it was, this new London did have it's moments of surreal beaty to redeem it.
It was times like this he regretted not having taken the Artisan class himself, so he could capture the beaty of this world in the form of pictures. He really did love his blacksmtihing, though. He wouldn't trade it for the world, though he might wish to be able to try other things.
He really did have a bad habit of losing track of time, and forgetting simple things like eating and drinking, when he got really into something. He really needed to learn better time management skills, and become better at the whole taking of breaks thing. At least occasionally.
Opening up his magical bag, Eadon pulled out a couple of apples and some water, tossing one of the apples to Adler. No doubt she was hungry after all of that work as well. he was, after all, and she had been working just as hard as he had.
"So you are in a guild then," Eadon said, trying to keep the eagerness out of his voice, "That's pretty cool. I hope I can find a good guild sooner or later."
He was admittedly quite jealous. He would love to have a guild of people to rely on, and to support. It was just a matter of time, no doubt. Sticking the last of the crafting materials into the forge, Eadon waited patiently while they slowly heated up, hopefully becoming hot enough to work with soon. Her last request for equipment would no doubt be the hardest of the three, as he had only a basic idea of what the ax she wanted looked like in his head.
"Uhh, if it's not too much to ask would you mind putting those Artisan skills of yours to use, and drawing me a rough schematic of what you would like this axe to look like, " Eadon asked, embarrassment evident in his voice.
As a craftsman, he hated admitting that he did not know what exactly it was that he should be making. On that note, he had found her weird development of allergies somewhat suspicious... Perhaps she had spotted his signature? Nah. She had probably just got something caught in her throat, or something.
He began the process of beating out the metal into a rough shape, while he waited for the sketch she would hopefully provide. The ax would hopefully be just as nice as the other two items, when all was done.

[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 548 wordsAfter she had received the armor from Eadon, Adler was in a slump. Her idea for a shield had come so quickly to her, but her armor left her boggled. What would she do with it? It was quite impressive in itself. She had seen intricately designed suits on television or on movie screens, but seeing one in person and actually being there when it was made was something else. Adler traced the lines of Eadon’s inscription mindlessly. A silver armored knight with a black shield. Perhaps her axe could be fire engine red. Hearing the sound of a bag open, Adler looked up in time to catch the apple Eadon tossed her. “Thanks.” She said, mildly embarrassed. Adler took a bite out of her apple, then blinked when Eadon mentioned guilds. Was he hinting at something? She knew men often complained that women read too deeply into things, but how could they be expected not to when men were notorious for not being forthcoming? It was like being asked to guess a person’s job without knowing anything about them. Inferences had to be made from what little evidence they had. Probably the real reason why she couldn’t decide for herself was because she’d wanted to invite him in for a while now. How embarrassing would it be if she were wrong? She forced herself to swallow. “I’m sure you’ll find one soon.” She said cheerfully, guilt twisting her stomach and chasing away her appetite. They fell silent for a while. She continued absentmindedly tracing the inscription while she wondered what he was thinking. When he requested a sketch of her weapon, Adler squirmed. “I don’t actually know.” She admitted. “I only heard about it from some of the Landers.” If neither of them knew what it should look like, the maybe a different weapon was in order. Traditionally, the tool associated with masons was, of course, a hammer. “What about a war hammer?” Before he could bring up Thor, she added. “Not the huge flashy ones. Something small, like a regular hammer, but with a slightly curved spike on the opposite end, and a blade at the top.”As she spoke, she rooted around in her bag for a bit of canvas and charcoal to sketch it out like he asked. She was specific, but that was because she had been part of a team that handled an animated war movie. Everybody knew that bigger was better on screen of course, and nobody wanted to mess with children’s imaginations, but a hammer with a smaller head meant that the force would be applied to a smaller area, resulting in a deadlier strike. The other features were a personal preference; it was impossible to be involved in such research and character design and not have any opinions about them. The spike opposite the hammer’s head could be used to snag or hook things like people’s saddles or even weapons, while the blade she could use to stab or slice. She couldn’t provide him with exact measurements, but despite how odd it looked, she was certain about the shape and proportion of the weapon and its features. “If this is too complicated, a standard hammer is fine.” She’d be able to hit more enemies with a bigger head anyway. Post by Eadon on Feb 8, 2014 13:27:44 GMT
Eadon finished eating his apple, happy to be able to take a short break from his crafting. Hopefully he would have the ax done shortly, then he could head on home to sleep.
Admittedly though, he was going to regret not seeing Adler again if he were to do this most likely. Should he ask her if he could possibly join her guild, after all? Eadon hummed in thought, undecided on the idea. He didn't want to come across as being desperate or too forward about it, but he sort of really did want a guild and Adler seemed like a pretty great person so far. Any guild she was in was no doubt going to be a place where he would be right at home as well. Really, there was more to lose by not asking her than anything else.
Carefully hammering out the shaft of the soon to be weapon, Eadon stuck his tongue out between his teeth in concentration. It was tricky getting the shape and dimensions right, but once he had it mostly hammered out he was actually fairly happy with it.
Deciding not to put it off any longer, he took in a deep breath, let it out, then asked, voice going way to fast to be entirely legible, though he surely would get his point across, "Umm, so... Would it be alright if I maybe asked to join your guild? You seem really cool, and I kind of need one...."
Hopefully she wouldn't just dismiss him out of hand. Eadon was kind of young, and not really anll that high leveled, but he thought he wouldn't be completely useless as a build member. After all, a sorcerer who also happened to be an alright blacksmith had to be useful for something.
Hopefully Adler saw it that way as well, rather than just choosing to laugh at him or something. He had actually started to really get along with her, and din't want to chuck that out the window by ill'timing in asking about her guild.
Continuing his work, Eadon listened briefly to her explanation about having no idea how to make the ax she wanted, and instead wanting a warhammer. Nodding, he took the drawing from her and quickly made a fewq annotations of his own. It was pretty good though, he needn't have changed much about it in truth. He remembered that she had said she had worked as an animator back in the real world, so it probably made sense she could make reasonable sketches of scale weaponry after all.
Fortunately he had only really made any progress towards the shaft of the weapon.,..
"These modifications shouldn't be a problem," Eadon said, looking at them carefully again, before diving back into his project.
The warnhammer quickly started to materialise out of the metal, forming out of the blob of materials far more quickly than the previous two items had. Eadon smiled. he was... done? Hefting the new object in his hand it certainly felt like it. He had crafted it almost identically to how it appeared in the picture, giving it some nice smoothed out edges, with everything seeming to balance nicely across the whole thing, despite it's hefty weight. It was a solid weapon, one that would serve the guardian well, he was sure. Warhammer created and matching with all of the other gear that he had made, Eadon silently handed it over to Adler.
"We're done for today, I guess," he said, smiling, "All that's left is cleanup..."
Eadon's face made an unpleasant expression at this point, though he did his best to hide it. What was important was that all of the stuff he had set out to craft earlier today was done, and that his new friend seemed happy with her new gears. It was a win win situation for the both of them.

[attr="class","adler_post a"] [attr="class","aptype"]Adl&r, the Guardian [attr="class","stats right"] Thread Type Crafting Request/SocialTagged EadonWrote 426 wordsWhen Eadon asked her if he could join her guild, she stared at him for a moment before starting to laugh. “No! Wait!” She said, though the look on his face just made her laugh even harder. “It’s—I—Of course you can join!” Adler started coughing. She clung onto the armor that was still on her lap while she bent over and let herself cough until she calmed down. “I’m okay.” She looked at Eadon and waited for him to meet her eyes before she spoke. “I was laughing because I couldn’t decide how to ask you! I mean, I’m not the guild leader or anything.” She added, suddenly realizing the others might object to her inviting a stranger. “But I’m sure it won’t be a problem.” He seemed like a nice kid, and a Blacksmith was always useful to have. “Wait, let me add you to my friendslist.” Adler navigated the interface quickly using her hands so she wouldn’t have to strain her brain. “There. I’ll need to talk to the master to let you in, but I’m sure that won’t take long.”Adler had been painting another image of Bellona on her breastplate when Eadon announced that he had finished crafting her weapon. Since it was something Adler chose based on function rather than appearance, it was relatively unassuming. She took it from the Blacksmith and hefted it in her hand, giving it a few trial swings as well. “Perfect.” She said, basing it on how easy it was to redirect the weapon to a different position. She smiled. “Cleanup. Of course.”The Guardian helped him by picking up after herself, putting away her paints and brushes and armor—she would wear them later. When they had both finished, she approached him one last time and held out her hand for him to shake. “Thanks again for everything. I’ll let you know about the guild, one way or another.” She laughed again. “Don’t worry, I won’t forget. I’m sure we’ll see each other around.” And they would. Even if Indy didn’t approve for some reason, she had already decided to ask Eadon to craft her new armor for her, once she obtained enough of the right materials for it. She hoped that it wouldn’t take more than a couple of dungeon runs, but that seemed unlikely; the next armor Adler wanted to commission was for level twenty. When they had both finally run out of things to do or say, she shrugged her shoulders and waved to him one last time. “Bye Eadon!”[attr="class","stats"] Notes Donezo.

Fidgeting a bit inside, Eadon suddenly felt super nervous about having asked Adler if he could join her guild so out of the blue like that. He had probably come across as desperate and friendless, definitely not someone that she would want to ask to join her and her group of friends in their guild by a long shot. But... he had asked. He would just have to suck it up and face the consequences of his actions whatever they were. It wasn't as though he could take the words back or something, no matter how much he might wish to do exactly that.
There you go again, Eadon's subconscious told him mockingly, almost savouring the taste of the mild panic that was running through the young sorcerers mind, letting yourself talk without thinking it through, and making a complete fool of yourself. Yet again. Shaking his head violently, Eadon did his best to ignore the voice and the subtle mocking voice which it used. He had ruined so many friendships, and made so many people hate him, with his open and blunt manner before. But... at the end of the day it was who he was and he wasn't about to completely and utterly change his very core of being, in order to please others more easily. Not a chance. For all intents and purposes, Eadon was generally happy with how he was and felt no need to suddenly start thinking before speaking. If he did that, then he would only drive himself to insanity, from over thinking every little situation.
Of course, that didn't stop him from then over thinking it after he had already said something. Like he was doing now, for instance. Well, at least what he had wanted to say was said - and for better or for worse, he wouldn't be able to change it. Better to be blunt and forth wright with what he felt, than keep it all inside him, right?
Eadon nodded, the scared and somewhat panicky expression on his face clearing up. That is, until Adler burst out laughing. Aww, damn. She thinks I'm an idiot after all... Eadon blushed, looking away in embarrassment. He had seen this particular turn of events coming from a mile away, but it still hurt.
Back in the real world, Eadon had had many friends, but at the same time equally as many enemies. Not everybody liked it when you told them what ou were thinking thoughtlessly, though others admired the trait and the brutal honesty that seemed to be one of the red-headed teenagers redeeming qualities. He wasn't smart, or particularly observant, but he would say what needed to be said readily enough.
One time at lunch a few years ago, one of the girls he sat with had gone to eat some dessert, when she had said she was trying to lose weight earlier that very day. Eadon, or Owen as he was in the real world, had told her that eating the cake wasn't exactly going to help with a diet. The girl had promptly burst into tears, and then not talked to him for days.
When she had come through to speak with him, it had been to apologise and to thank him for being so blunt. She did care about losing weight, and while it had hurt her at the time in the end she had been thankful for his intervening. Eadon had been glad she had forgiven him, though. He might not seem it, but he was actually pretty fragile and had been losing sleep and very upset for the whole time she hadn't spoken to him, worrying over whether or not he should have said what he had said. In the end it had worked out. That time. Not every person was so willing to accept the honest truth about themselves, or about what Eadon had on his mind at that particular moment.
He had gotten pretty good at defending himself, as a result... Not that he necessarily sought out fights, more that they came to him.
Zoning back into reality, or... well technically it was virtual reality, Eadon had to remind himself. It felt like reality though, so he would treat it as such, he realised that Adler was apologising for laughing at him. That was... surprising.
What was more, she actually said that she would aks her guild leader to invite him, and quickly added him to her friends list. Eadon broke into a grin, readily accepting the friend invite and fist pumping the sky in happiness, all evidence of his upset expression gone. Maybe he had been right in asking her after all. Sometimes bluntness actually did work, even if it was not always the best of things.
"Thanks a bunch Adler," he exclaimed, looking like a little kid who had just been told that Santa Claus was in fact real, and had brought him half a dozen neatly wrapped Christmas presents, "I will have to go and talk to this guild leader of yours, but it will be so awesome having a guild. Thanks for putting your neck out for me like this!"
Packing away the tools he had used, Eadon gave one final glance over the work space. It was perfect, back to a state even cleaner than it had been before he had started using it that morning. The next smith who came along would find no fault with how he had left it, that was for sure. Eadon grinned at this, suddenly reminded of a thought he had had before about the merits of taking up the Maid subclass. Not that he ever would, but with how much of a clean freak he occasionally was he would no doubt be able to level it quite quickly, unlike his sigil maker subclass.
He watched happily as Adler swumg her new war hammer a few times, the weapon he had made swinging nicely and obviously very well balanced and effective in her hands. He suddenly felt a small gush of pride. That weapon was one he had made, along with her new armour and shield. The fact that Adler had all of this cool new gear was because he, who had once been nothing more than a novice at his craft, had made them for her. It was a good feeling, knowing how far he had progressed. Hopefully, given time and some more chances to make new and exciting things, he would be able to level in his chosen crafter's discipline even further and would hopefully one day become one of the greatest smiths this world had to offer. One day. It was a dream worth holding onto, all things considered. he just needed to keep making things, and work hard. it was a possibility, and that was all that mattered.
"I'm glad you like it, Adler," Eadon said, eying her grip on the weapon and the new shield with it's beautifully painted design, "I hope that the gear serves you well. Come and let me know when you need an upgrade on them, alright? I'm sure we can work something out. Getting the necessary materials ill be the challenge, but I'm sure you can find some. You're doing the dungeon after all."
His things all packed away, Eadon was surprised to note that during his final crafting project, the sun had finally set. It was dark outside the forge, and the long shadows of torches lit the area around them. Eadon frowned a bit, suddenly wishing he had taken the magical light skill that was unique to the sorcerer class. He hated the darkness. Ah well, he would be home and able to sleep soon. After all, he had spent all day working on equipment and was absolutely dead tired after it all. He really needed a rest - or he would be absolutely beyond grumpy come morning.
"Hey, don't mention it Adler," he replied to her thanks for the gear, "just let me know about that guild as soon as you get the chance. I'd love to get to know some of your guildmates. See you later!"
With that, he spun around and headed back to the smithy where he currently worked as an apprentice, and the bed he knew would be waiting for him. Reid - the older master smith who had taken him on - was almost like a father to Eadon now, and he was glad to have met him. Not to mention glad for the roof over his head, and the ready access to food, water and a forge provided by the older person of the land.
Today had been good. He had made a new friend, with the promise of more to come and a guild at that. Adler was awesome, and he had really enjoyed working with her and the chance to craft some really interesting things. He would have to wait and see where this went, but he was sure that this was just the start of a friendship that would be good for a long time to come.
