One thing Marashi regularly forgot now that she had been virtualized was that the lore of the game was this world’s history… and quite an interesting lore it was… or at least what little bit Marashi remembered. Lore had never really been her thing… questing and dungeoning had been. She caught tiny bits and pieces of lore doing quests and dungeons, but she never really paid much attention to it. Now, though, she was regretting that decision.
Everywhere Marashi went within the Londinium city walls, she heard nothing but chatter about a circle of Lander Sages. To a certain extent, it was just plain annoying. Rumors were just that. Rumors. It wasn’t as if they had been proven in the first place. However, there was a detail that caught Marashi’s attention… the Sages were going to be doing a public conference to explain their purpose, and that conference was going to happen in about half an hour.
“To go or not to go…” Marashi muttered to herself. She was standing not far away where a few people were beginning to gather. It was a square near central Londinium, and there were a few tents in the square where the supposed sages were staying.
“You should check it out,” Hikari pipped up, “It’s not like there’s anything else to do right now.”
“We could go out and get some more practice though,” Yume responded calmly, “or we could just relax for once.”
“I spent two years mostly relaxing, Yume,” Marashi said quietly, “I’m not going back to that.” With a sigh, Marashi walked forward towards a less crowded area in front of the tents.

Jade was curious about this whole conference that these sages were giving. It made her wish she knew more about the lore of this world for certain as this world was hers now. She had come to expect that she was stuck here, as things became more and more life like. It seemed as if mostly people of the land were here,Which figured most adventurers didn't care about this sort of thing. This world never ceased to amaze her. She had figured that she should probably go, since it seemed so talked about she didn't want to be out of the loop.Making her way towards the place wasn't too hard, though the amount of people milling around surprised her. Jade was glad she had tied up Arcadia, as she would of hated the crowd. She hoped that she would grow some courage, the other day the horse had ran away from the enemy, and she had to resummon her after the battle.
Making her way into the plaza, Jade kept to herself mostly, making sure not to bump into anyone or block anyone's path. Though then she saw something, she looked again and smiled. She spotted a familiar face and hurried over. It would be nice to have a friend during this whole speech thing. After all those were usually better in company cause at least you could suffer together. She kept her smile and waved at Marashi calling out her name. " Marashi!" She approached and hoped she was as happy to see her as she was, or at least didn't try to avoid her. Jade had come to find that the friends she had quested with were being seen more and more, it was just the other day that she had lunch with daggerfel, and had done a quest with Marashi and Megumi. It was nice to see her again, she would make her way up to her taking care to watch her step. "Hey, you wanted to hear what this was about too? " She asked spotting some sort of strange dressed man in the center of the crowd, She had to admit that she was glad she had made some new friends. They kept her from being alone and from thinking on the old world. Jade might of given up on ever going back but she still missed her family and that always weighed on her if she dwelled too much on it.
Jade observed the man, his robe the color of the sky and covered with what looked like stars. It was a strange robe, it hid most of the person's body, though she thought it was probably a guy. She had never seen anything quite like it. The square was starting to fill up and the man stood in the center. She wasn't sure what to make of this all. She wondered what he would have to say. Perhaps he had a quest or perhaps events were happening in this world that were beyond the average person. She didn't really know what this whole thing could be about.

I guess that this is where we've come to If you don't want to then you don't have to believe me One thing that Koris missed about his old life was his sense of hearing. Obviously he still had one in this world, but now that he was able to actually see, and without his old boy’s attunements, his ability to hear was about average. He missed catching whispers of secret conversations in the street, the light bustling of traffic outside his window, the faint creaks and scratches of everyday life. He missed it, but if he had the choice between this or that, he would never go back.
Sight is a magical thing, perhaps a luxury that most people take for granted. Koris did not take his newfound ability to see lightly. He was constantly scanning the environment, making the most of the visual information he was now afforded. As he walked the streets of this alternate London his ears were open, muffled footsteps and idle conversation nowhere near as sharp as he once was able to catch, but now. Now he could see who was speaking, watch the crowd of boots hitting the ground. And that was worth it.
Perhaps he hadn’t gone venturing out too much in the time since he’d first been sent to this world, but there were reasons. He wanted to make sure he wouldn’t be losing his precious new sight any time soon, which so far had proven sound enough. And at least initially, he did not want to die. Well, not any more than he usually wished to live, but this world was dangerous. It was at least apparently based around the world of an MMO, and those are not safe in any sense of the word.
But he couldn’t stay still for too long. There was too much to do, too much to see. At the end of it all, in a way, it was still a game. And it was a game he would play. Thus, the reason Koris had ventured out on this day was the same as so many others. There was a rumour. A good one. Lander sages, going around and making claims of… Something or another. Rumors by nature were never clear. But to him it sounded like exactly the kind of plot hook he needed to get his true start in this world.
Speaking of this world… Well, he didn’t know too much about it, honestly. He hadn’t held too much interest in the lore of the game before it was supposed to come out in his home country, and back then… Reading was a bit more difficult than it was now, in any case. He knew enough from what had been told to him and what he’d managed to catch before its release and his subsequent entrance into this realm, but once here he was more focused on getting used to his new body and the world’s workings than the - admittedly rich and storied - history of the people and places.
The most recent bit of this rumour that he’d heard was that there was to be a conference of sorts, held.. Somewhere. Soon. So, so vague. Luckily for him, it appeared that soon actually meant very soon, as various groups of people passed him on the street, slowly congregating toward one central area. That made finding the location easy enough. Just follow the crowd. Soon enough he was in the thick of it, gently weaving through bodies to find a suitable spot to witness what was about to go down.
He wound up with a decent view of the sage holding this little meeting, an ambiguous figure to say the least. There were less people in the little section he’d found himself in, the most notable figures among them being two girls to his right. He adjusted his mask slightly and shifted his balance, prepared for what may be a long speech ahead. Original Coding by Sayha of LH

Tristan was having a grand old time so far in this world. All the quests, the people, it all felt so much like one of those old Lord of the Rings movies she had loved so much as a kid (she did after all grow up in a house filled with brothers, so what else would be on besides marathons of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Firefly and the like). What had brought her in to town today was the promise of a rather large and interesting quest. A group of rather interesting People of the Land had arrived, dressed in long flowing robes adorned in all the patterns of the night sky, their long garments and hoods obscuring their features. The word was that they were offering a rather interesting questline as well, something to do with research into some sort of fragment. Personally, she never was one for the lore of a game. Sure it was fun to find out all the details and backstory, but most of the time she had always left that to the members of her party to remember. She was always one for the action of a game, how well it had played. She above all else enjoyed combat the most, always partaking in random PVP encounters as she wandered about, testing her might in arenas, duking it out gladiator style with other people only to laugh about it all good-heartedly afterwards. The reason this quest had her eye was that rumor on the street was that it had some rather difficult boss battles sprinkled throughout it. The promise of worthy challenges sparked her interest, her mind filling with images of swords clashing and dramatic speeches. She wanted to engage a worthy foe in glorious combat, one that tested not only her might as a warrior, but also her mettle. With this daydream in mind, she wandered throughout the town rather aimlessly. She knew what she was looking for, but she wasn’t the most directionally inclined. She figured she’d follow the crowd only to find out that the crowd spanned multiple city blocks and seemed to go every which way. After about an hour of squeezing her way through all the people (she had been wearing her casual attire today. The weather was nice and her combat armor tended to get in the way and or draw attention when all she wanted to do was pick up a couple jobs), she finally managed to make her way up to the group gathered about the Sages. She felt a little out of place, a majority of those gathered around wore their best armor and gear, looking like they were rallying for some sort of raid and yet here she stood, loose red checkered flannel shirt and loose cargo pants, a small toothpick poking out from her lips as she moved it around while she listened to the Sage beginning to speak about the details of the quest. [attr="class","textBox"] The birds chirped happily in the treetops, providing a pleasant song for Ivan as he nibbled at a piece of bread. The boy sat comfortably beneath a large tree, hiding in the shade from the sun as he enjoyed his morning. Another day of wandering and another day of becoming comfortable with his body, but it all started with his morning ritual. He didn’t have the ability to eat breakfast like he assumed others could, so he enjoyed the simplicity of what he had; some water, a fruit, and a slice of bread. It was enough to fill his stomach and enough usually to feed him until he could find a place to find something better. That usually took him about two or three hours. If he didn’t eat anything until then, he wouldn’t last. His stomach had a way of making things difficult when it was running on empty.
Due to a hearty dinner the prior night, thanks to a nice waitress whom had ensured he was taken care off, Ivan felt energized for the first time in a while. His stomach wasn’t growling too loudly and his body felt refreshed. Though he still felt a bit drowsy. No matter how hard he tried to get comfortable in the night or how long he slept, sleeping outside just wasn’t the same. Ivan missed having a bed. Yet he could not complain. He was thankful that it had not rained, and he was even more thankful that the night was not cold. It was spring now so he did not have to worry about snow crowding his box, but he always dreaded the fact that winter would return. It always came back like a terrible nightmare.
The boy finished his bread, swallowed some water, and then headed in the general direction of some noise. Using the sounds, Ivan found his way to the side of the street and extended his right hand. He walked until it bumped into the hard side of a building, then followed it. He made his way through the market district and counted his steps as he exited on the eastern side. He traced his steps, following his personal mental landmarks as he walked from the market district towards the central area of Londinium. Today he was going to try and explore the main grouping area. Ivan had no intentions of joining up with any groups but if he could find his way around the center of the city, Ivan might even be able to find a better place to rest. The market district was nice and he always had some place to eat and sleep, but there was more to the world than just those two things. Ivan was beginning to learn that if he wanted to find a way out of it, he would have to walk.
Fear was a feeling Ivan was becoming comfortable with. He feared the idea of being lost. He feared the idea of getting hurt. He feared the idea of starving, of being cold, and simply he feared being alone. Yet this was his reality now. Ivan had no other choice but to accept that fact and do his best to work with what he had. As timid as he was, and as much as his knees shook beneath each step; Ivan grit his teeth and kept counting. He counted distance, tracked time, and measured how long it took for him to reach a location in comparison to another. He listened to the words of those around him for landmarks and then compared those landmarks to his own mental map. Very quickly, Ivan was learning how to judge his location based on the words of others and depending on where he was, he could get his bearings and know which way he would have to turn before he was moving in the right direction. Using the market district as his center, Ivan was creating a web.
His web had strengthened these past few days as Ivan began to test his timing. He started to travel to specific locations and then would ask to see where he was. If he was right, Ivan would make a note in his menu to himself of where the place was. Then, he would try to reach the same location from other pathways. Each time, he left himself a small note. Usually it was the name of the building and then a list of several numbers, all markings that worked like navigation markers. It was a system he was building, and it was working. Though in order to get that information, it took time. A lot of time. For two years, Ivan wandered the Londinium streets and it was only recently that he had begun to build his system. Thankfully his wandering was not wasteful.
Ivan spent several hours every day using his memory to help him build his map. Any information that he could pull from those memories, he took and applied it to his current situation. Ivan even remembered the times he had tried to take off his blindfold. They were blurred and hard to work with, but they gave Ivan brief glimpses at the world around him. Building styles, names, even a few faces. He had tried to use his eyes one-hundred-three times, all in different locations around Londinium. Most of the mental images were impossible to recover and some just reminded him of how much seeing hurt. Yet, he did his best.
Using that same web of directions and timing, Ivan found himself hearing the familiar noises of friendship and loitering. Basic conversation, dozens of varying scents that emanated from different persons, and an openness that the market district did not have. A little later, Ivan heard the noise of fountains, leaves rustling, and even smelled tea and coffee in the air. Ivan smiled softly to himself as he turned down an alleyway, the sun’s warmth vanishing from his skin. He traveled for a long time before finally turning to the left and back out into the light. From there, he dared himself. Swallowing hard, Ivan stepped out away from the buildings and into the open. Footsteps cluttered around him and there were dozens of voices assaulting him from all different directions, yet he walked forward. Ivan made his way out into the center of the street and the stilled himself, listening.
He timed how long it took for people to pass him, checked distances and direction, used his nose to sense who was too close, and used the wind as an extended arm. The wind caused clothes to flutter, aiding Ivan in finding those who were quiet. However his standing there also gained him a bit of knowledge. Ivan learned of a new group that had arrived several months ago, some sages. Ivan had never heard of them before in the market district and found himself curious. He didn’t particularly care too much for who they were or what they had to offer, but the information intrigued him. He also took it as a challenge.
Ivan waited until he picked up a conversation that went more in depth about the sages and followed a group of five. He kept his distance and lowered his head, tracing his path by using theirs. They spoke of their time with the sages, laughed about the simple task they had been given and even teased the way that they dressed. Ivan ignored that information though and continued to listen. It took a while, but then it slipped; “did you see what he said back there? Man it was a joke.” Ivan turned on his heels and slipped out of his trailing pattern and moved to the other side of the street. The group of five disappeared into the air and Ivan fell in behind someone else, someone who was walking alone along the street. They paused for a moment but Ivan kept walking, avoiding a collision as he counted how many steps the prior distance was and using their heavy feet to judge their size. Once he had passed them, he picked up the footsteps of another guide. One person at a time, Ivan made his way up the street. But he wasn’t the best at it yet. Without realizing it, Ivan had drifted slightly and found himself slamming his right shoulder into a pole. He yelped and hesitated, grabbing his shoulder and kneeling down beside the object. His elbow throbbed and his body crumbled. That hurt…
“Oh, look Mary; there they are.” “Wow, I thought they were just a rumor…” The voices were quiet and Ivan almost lost them in the mess, but he listened to them carefully. They voices were off to his left and the owners started to fade away. Ivan hurried back to his feet and quickly hurried across the street, bumping into a few people as he did so. Once he reached the other side, he hurried a bit more until he was close enough to hear the familiar voices of the couple. Shortly after, there were even more voices and Ivan found himself standing on the outside of a large cluster of people.
Ivan frowned at the idea of having to deal with a lot of people and he honestly felt a bit lost now. Ahead of him was an open space and he knew it. The voices did not echo and simply expanded out into the air, undisturbed by any kind of building. The little boy crossed his arms in front of him and held himself for a moment. It was too much for him. He wasn’t ready, not just yet.
“Afraid?” A familiar voice came up behind the boy and suddenly, he found himself backed by a very powerful and frightening presence. The thirst for blood was heavy and Ivan felt his heartbeat increase substantially. Yet, Ivan didn’t run. The owner of the voice was someone whom had helped him once before and he had some kind of thing for randomly appearing. Though neither of those facts made him any easy to be around.
“Y-Yes.” The man adjusted himself a bit at the answer and came up beside Ivan. He knelt down, the sounds of clothes rustling and weapons clattering ringing in Ivan’s ears; this man was armed to the teeth.
“Don’t be. Just let your body do the work, and let your mind be your guide.” A light hand pressed into Ivan’s back and the man nudged him forward. Ivan resisted at first, but then the pressure increased until he could no longer fight it.
“Fear is only your enemy as long as you let it be.” The man gave Ivan one more gentle nudge and then like a ghost, he was gone. Ivan turned his head to try and pick up his scent, but all he caught was a light breeze; the signal that the man had left. Ivan frowned again but the words gave him hope. He turned his head forward and walked towards the crowd, carefully positioning himself off to the side but close enough as to where he could hear the words of the sages. They spoke loudly and their voices carried, even over the other sounds Ivan picked up. Their words had meaning and were filled with promise, although Ivan did not take them on so easily. Ivan knew his limits and this was something he was going to have an issue with handling.

It seemed that Marashi was not the only person that was interested in hearing what the strangely-dressed sages were going to talk about. One of them had called out her name, and Marashi recognized her instantly: it was Jade, a guardian she had quested with a few times.
“Fancy seeing you here, Jade,” Marashi greeted the guardian, “This should be interesting.”
Marashi also made notes of the others that were around. An assassin had made his way to hang around, and there was also a strange monk as well. Not much further away was another familiar face to Marashi: Tristan Lannister, or just Lannister as Marashi called her.
“It seems that the rumors have drawn quite the interesting crowd,” Yume commented, “I think you may want to keep your guard up.”
“I agree,” Hikari pipped up, “Though maybe you should team up with some of them if they’re not too scary.”
“That would depend on what these guys say,” Yume responded.
Marashi didn’t say anything to her two shikigami as Jade was nearby, but she did agree with them…. Of course the later would depend on what the sages were here for.
Marashi heard the one who walked up clear their throat. It was time to pay attention.
“Thank you all for joining us,” the Sage began to speak, “We are the Sages of the Messier Order. We come from various places in the Unfounded Kingdom, and we are in need of adventurers to assist us with our research. Not long ago, we discovered ancient artifacts that date from before the age of Alves. As you may or may not know, this is a tremendous discovery.”
“Sure, we’ll go with that,” Hikari commented as the Sage spoke.
“However despite this, we are still unable to get all the details possible from the artifacts we have uncovered, specifically the ancient stone tablet we have uncovered,” the Sage continued, “We are seeking adventurers to find the remaining pieces of the tablet so we may be able to seek out more information regarding this. To any adventurer or group of adventurers are interested, come to me for the item you will need.” And that was it.
“That didn’t give us much information,” Marashi muttered, “I would have at liked to hear more about this tablet they speak of.”
“Uh huh,” Hikari agreed.
“Well, we will probably find out more if we were to do as the sage asked,” Yume responded.
Marashi sighed before making her way over to the sage who had been talking, “I am interested in helping.”
“Ah, our first taker,” the sage commented, handing Marashi some sort of magic wand, “This is a Divining Rod. It will glow when you are close to the artifact we seek. You must go to the Thames Coastline where the original artifact was uncovered.” He didn’t say anything more.
Marashi took the rod and went back to where she was standing, “Jade, would you like to party up for the quest?”
Marashi waited for Jades response before turning to others who were nearby, “I have accepted the quest and am willing to pick up three others who would be interested in joining me.”
Then she waited to see what everyone thought.

That sounded like something she could do, she thought as the listened to the man. She smiled as she saw Marashi go up and get the quest and then ask her to join. It wasn't even really a question. " Of course i will help, you can count on Arcadia and me to help you out however we can. " She smiled and waited to see if anyone else took up the offer. She was glad to have a way to help find out more about this history. Maybe it would tell them something about why they were all here. After all this seemed like one of those event or expansion quest lines. Something that was meant to give players new content to explore. She had remembered her siblings talk about stuff like this enough to know that anyway. She had always nodded and pretended to be interested and now she wish she knew more. She was never into games, this was her way to play with her siblings but alas they hadn't gotten the game yet, they had bought it for her so she could play with them when she eventually went to college. She had been saving up to get it for them for their next gift giving holiday. She sighed and was glad in the end that they hadn't gotten the game. It was better her in here then them.
Jade recognized Lannister and Ivan here, she wondered if they would join them. Round it off with that other adventurer near by and they would have a nice party. Two guardians, a shaman, assassin and monk. She knew Marashi would have her hands full that was for sure. Though together they could surely do it. She waited and hoped they would agree, as it would be harder if it was just the two of them but hopefully not impossible. Jade smiled and took a place next to Marashi and just waited. She waved to the other two, "yeah Tristan, Ivan, join up with us, it will be fun." She said with a smile glad to have friends. She giggled at the memory of Ivan's stomach rumbling. She hoped he wasn't so hungry today, as they would need to get to business. Jade giggled a bit at that thought. She would admit that Tristan grated her nerves a bit but seemed a nice enough girl that she would put up with her. Plus she seemed to be a good friend to have when times were tough. She certainly seemed dependable. It was curious though what might be on that tablet. She wondered about the possibilities. The group had the chance to perhaps understand something about this world that would let them make sense of it. After all if she remembered right, Alv's were around a long time ago in terms of game time. So the fact that they had found proof of a new civilization predating Alv's was quite interesting. Jade had to wonder what else my turn up once they followed this line of research.
