Greetings everyone! I hope you have all been well! I'm very grateful to Murasaki for giving us this chance to reconnect. As some of you may have heard, I along with several other former Log Horizon Forum users made our own forum named "Gaia Reborn," a spiritual successor to the Log Horizon Forum based more loosely off Log Horizon than this forum was, taking far more creative liberties and inspiration than actually basing our forum off of Log Horizon entirely. We have a few more classes, completely original races, and a level progression system completely unlike that seen in Log Horizon or most MMORPGs! As such, we would love for any of you who find this post to consider joining, as it would be great to be able to reconnect with old friends and perhaps even RP together should you like our system! You can find us on our discord here: discord.gg/vJwVYSS or on our forum here: gaia-reborn.proboards.com/

Noctis scratched the back of his head, unsure really of how to proceed. He had honestly just happened to be in the right area at the right time, and didn't feel like he deserved any praise. Well, what he took for praise anyhow. It was hard to tell with the girl he had just met. While he wasn't necessarily an introvert, reading people had never really been a strong suit of his, and that didn't seem to change much. Hearing the new girl's stomach rumble made him chuckle a little on his own as well. He had spent most of his day trying to understand the mechanics of how skills and things worked, that he had quite honestly forgotten to eat. Realizing his own hunger he patted out his pockets to find not even a small starter amount of gold. Some game this was. "Seems I'm fresh outta dosh," he said, trying to at least make a joke out of a bad situation. "Spare me some change and I can make it up to you on a kill quest." He seemed pretty open to the idea of food, and would probably follow anyone who led on towards a restaurant. Tags: Hekate Searon

Getting up and offering the girl a hand, he pulled them both up and dusted off his cloak. "Yeah, they'll be fine for the most part. None of it really counted as damage, so they weren't really harmed. the numbskulls will reform before long, probably after their friends are done spooking the guys who were coming at you." He looked off towards the door, the echoing cackles and nyehs of the skeletons echoing out through the doorway amidst the terrified screams of the guys they were chasing off, the sound causing Noctis' face to twist into a sort of disdainful scowl. He enjoyed the company, but the piles of bones had way too much energy at times. Part of him felt this was some sort of terrible cosmic joke with the universe getting back at him for something, but for what, he couldn't tell. He turned back as the girl finished brushing herself off. With a start, she quickly introduced herself and apologized again for the skeletons. He just smiled and laughed. "Hekate huh? Pretty name. I'm Cain- errr Noctis Corvo. It's a pleasure. And really, don't worry about the bags of bones, I can get rid of and get more as I wish for the most part." he would shake her hand and, hearing the voice calling for them, would begin to head that way. His head naturally drifted towards the sound before Hekate spoke up. She seemed to be pouting that someone else was worried about her scream. He just smiled kindly at her. "It's fine, it's not your fault. It was those assholes. But yeah, we probably should get goi-" As he was finishing his sentance, the laughter and pitter patter of a group of skeletal feet came waltzing out of the house behind him. They were bringing the pieces of their fallen comrades they were carrying back together, and the forefront one, who seemed to be the relative largest and "most equipped" spoke up. "Ey boss, we took care of the neep Boys, they won't be messin with you round here for a while. In a way you could say the whole ordeal was quite..." at this point the skeleton paused and held up a leg bone before continuing his bad pun. "...humerous?" There was a long pause, the skeleton seemingly waiting for some sort of approving chuckle from his boss, and Noctis just staring at him with an expression that just said why do you do this. With a quick wave of his hand, the skeletons evaporated and ceased to be, as he merely said, "I want you to sit out and think about what you just did." After doing that, he would walk off around the corner with Hekate, to wave down the approaching person. Upon seeing them, and making sure whoever they were saw him, he would announce, "It's okay, we got it handled! How are you doing tonight?" tags: Hekate Searon

Noctis was exhausted. Currently he was being carried by his six skeleton summons as he looked at his map. The man scoured, the overlay shining bright in his face, contrasting with the pinpointed blackness of the night sky, and the faint candlelight. Where would be a good place to set down for the night... wondered the necromancer. He wasn't familiar in the slightest with Londonium, and currently sat trying to make heads-or-tails of his current location and what any of "the queen's english" that he was looking at even meant. I'm used to a much different layout of this stuff. I guess I underestimated how different London could be... "You doin' all righ' up there boss?" One of the skeleton's cackled. "Yeah, yeah, I'm doing fine..." replied the mage. He still hadn't gotten used to his summons. They were great and all, but they could be a little....boneheaded, pun intended. "You guys know which way we are going...right?" "Oh yeah!" piped up one of the ones in the front. "There's a cozy mosoleum just up ahead in the cursed graveyard!" "You numbskull!" The one behind it roared, smacking the skeleton in front of him's skull so hard that it made multiple rotations before resting forward again. "The boss doesn't want to sleep in a mausoleum! A crypt would be much more up his alley!" The skeleton's ramblings quickly turned into a heated argument between all of them as to the advantages and disadvantages of various ways in which would be the comfiest to spend one's eternal rest, and Noctis, not being one for late night squabbles, quickly began to get a headache. "Enough!" He shouted, drawing attention to him from the numerous adventurers passing by, realizing the person being carried was, in fact, not dead. "Just...Just take me towards that abandoned building up there! There ought to be a free corner somewhere in it." The skeletons quickly quit their bickering before saluting their master. The head of them giving a quick salute and a "you've got it boss" before rushing off to the ruin with their necromancer hoisted above their heads. As they neared the entrance, the skeletons skidded and clattered to a stop. "Well boss, we're here-" Suddenly, a red-haired girl came barreling out of the doorway, screaming for help. With no time to react, only a thought of nonononONONONO ripped through his head as the girl, blinded in her rush, barreled through his skeletons, causing them to loose their grip on him and causing him to come crashing down on top of her in a mess of bones. As he sat up, he rubbed his head and saw a few men starting to come out, before seeing him and his small squad of bone-bros before the smile fell from their face. The skeletons reforming around him got up, looked at the newcomers in the doorway, and then looking at their master for orders. Noctis looked at them with a sort of Are you waiting for something? kind of look before telling them, "Well? Go get rid of them." The skeletons clattered and turned towards the men in the doorway before pulling up random bones and pieces of their fallen comrades and proceeding to chase in and after the men, scaring them off Benny Hill style while Noc was left behind, simply giving off a sigh before turning to the girl. With a worn out, tired, but well meaning gesture, he greeted her with a simple, "You all right?" Tags: Hekate

Didn't really know a better place to throw this so i guess here will have to do (you would think that, by now, I would)
After a long and unexpected absence, due to life throwing me curveballs and then suddenly deciding to reward me for my hard work, I now, once again have found time with which to return to the site. For those who are new, and I have not had a chance to interact with, I bid you welcome as a whole. For those who already knew me that I disappeared on, HA YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE RID OF ME DIDN'T YOU LOSERS I humbly ask to be welcomed back with open arms. I look forward to RPing with all of you with my Cynical and Absent-Minded Sorcerer, Noctis Corvo, and my Brash and Loud-Mouthed Guardian, Tristan Lannister. Allow me to conclude with PUT YOUR TONGUES TO THE DIRT AND BEG FOR YOUR WORTHLESS LIVES Thank you all for listening to my ramble.

Noctis Corvo [attr="class","sumBox"] Real Name: Kane Nolson Real Gender: Male Game Gender: Male Age: 20 Sexuality: Heterosexual Race: Ritual Faction: Adventurer Face-Claim: Allen Walker, D. Gray Man; Art by Miranda Lotto Played By: Noctis Corvo Discord Name/Nickname: PreKrime
[attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox1"] Kane stands in game at around a height of 6 feet, his hair long similar to that of his avatar but, due to the nature of the game, his hair color is that of his real body, being a dirty-blonde/brown color. His form is rather thin, but holds the wide shoulders and slight muscle definition of an athlete or casual but practitioner of martial arts. He tends to scrunch up hie eyes and face when out in the sunlight due to him still being unfamiliar with once again having 20/20 vision. His skin is a darker tan of his real life body, and his race of ritual tattoos adorn his left eye and his right arm. |
[attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox1"] Kane is rather upbeat, and has been described by his friends on multiple accounts of being a "clueless memelord". While he does tend to take things a bit seriously when it comes to his friends or their feelings and emotions, he generally likes to do his best to try and keep everyone around him smiling, even if its at the cost of his own dignity. No one around him doubts his intelligence however, as many will note the speed and enthusiasm with which he tackles riddles, puzzles and complex problems, and his efficiency rate when it comes to completing said objectives. His personality tends to be laid-back, much to a point of seeming like he doesn't care about many things, and often jokes about situations. However, the truth couldn't be anything farther. When he thinks his friends are in danger, His almost uncanny strategy and combat(ish) reflexes start to kick in and he will do anything for them. Likewise, when he finds a topic that seriously interests him, he will tend to hyper-focus on it much to the point of apparent obsession (this, interestingly enough, makes him very good at puzzles, but causes noticeable dark spots under his eyes when he's been on a long streak of obsessing over something). Essentially, he tends to go a more relaxed, practical route in day to day life unless he feels the need to go and dress up, in which he cleans up very well. |
[attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox2"] Kane Nolson's life was anything but normal. Born almost three months premature, the doctors told his parents his probability of survival was low, as well as the fact that he would be born with many birth defects. By some weird stroke of luck, he happened to actually go on to live a fairly healthy life with no major defects and actually come to possess an exceptional brain as well. Speaking full complex sentences by his second birthday, knowing how to operate and run a computer before his third, and already at a middleschool reading level before he even started kindergarten was only a scratch on the surface of his mind. His only major downside seemed to be a major case of social anxiety, Attention Deficit Disorder, and an incredibly low sense of pride. This led him into the world of videogames at a young age. Since an incredibly young age, Kane had played everything from puzzle games to Real Time Strategy games to MMOs. By middleschool, he had already been part of a ranked guild in one of the more well-known strategic shooters, as well as filling up his spare time with acing schoolwork with little effort, writing, earning a blackbelt in martial arts, and starting to form a small but tightly knit group of friends. It was highschool when it all began to fall apart however. Suddenly, he had to move towns. While still in the same general area of northern Texas, his friends had gotten farther than him. The only way he could really manage to hang out was through video games, and, as he discovered a sudden need to learn how to study, began to find less and less time to play them. When the time finally came to move to college, he had no time left whatsoever for the games he loved so much as a kid and, for whatever reason, he decided to give military life a try for his first year. It didn't go well. He found his new, regimented, ordered life at university to be hell. He wanted nothing more than to get out of the military organization he had signed in with (because they had agreed to pay for some of his college) but he found that if he did, then the branch of the organization he was in would be disbanded, as many other freshmen had already left, and one more would have spelled disaster. So, for some misguided sense of duty, or honor, or wanting to keep his new friends, he stayed. And he hated himself. Much to the point of falling into a deep, dark place. After his freshman semester, he left. He moved back home, and started taking classes at a local college. It was nothing fancy, but he figured it would do as he tried to find some way to get himself back out of the hole. It was a tough space of time, but he found that he had made a good few friends in new places that helped to dig him out. In the time, he found better ways to manage himself and his time, and got back into gaming with his new friends. It was about halfway through his third year that he had heard of a japanese MMO coming overseas. Being a fan of the genre, and having had his eye on it for a while, he preordered, and decided to see what was in store on the first day of the game's launch. It is typically used to channel magic, but can also be used to whack people on the side of the head. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. Accessory Slot 1:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty Accessory Slot 2:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty Accessory Slot 3:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty Accessory Slot 4:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty Vanity Slot 1:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty Vanity Slot 2:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty Vanity Slot 3:[attr="class","equip2"]Empty [attr="class","tempo"] [attr="class","appbox3"] Main Class: Summoner[attr="class","skillbox1"] Summon Follower - Skeleton - Tier 1 - Undead-type Earth elemental follower. Summons a skeleton soldier which appear to bubble up from the very earth. Deals physical damage and are equipped with shields, weapons, and partially armored in rusty gear. It is possible to equip the skeleton with better weapons and shields that remains equipped when desummoned. Skeletons may also be equipped with vanity wear, for customization purposes. Skeleton's personality type is Docile toward its Summoner and Aggressive toward all enemies. This follower takes 2 seconds of cast time to summon. Summon Follower - Phantom - Tier 1 - Spirit-type Darkness elemental follower. The Summoner calls forth a ghost-like servant that has low attack power but high evasion and magic resistance. This entity has a number of forms but usually appears as a miniature reaper-like creature with a violet cloak-like body and a simplified skull-like face. It is effective for diverting attention and performing recon duties. Phantom's personality type is Docile toward its Summoner and Curious toward all enemies. This follower takes 2 seconds of cast time to summon.
Death Scythe - Tier 1 - This skill may be used while the Summoner currently has a Spirit-type Follower active. An attack that allows the summoned Spirit-type Follower to attack physical targets while inflicting poison damage and slight defense debuffs on contact. Alternately, if no Spirit-type Follower is currently active, this skill summons one of these Followers for a split second in order to deliver a single arc-shaped horizontal slash in front of the user, without any other effects. This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds, a duration of 60 seconds, and a cooldown time of 75 seconds. If it is used without an active Spirit-type Follower, the cooldown time becomes 15 seconds instead.
Roleplay Class: Sage[attr="class","skillbox2"] Sense Element - Tier 1 - Sages are sensitive to the different forms of mana once it has polarized into the eight main elements. Sense Element allows the Sage to home in onto a specific element and obtain a vague impression of that element's location. This can be useful for searching for water sources when traveling through a dry desert or for being able to navigate oneself through a dark cave by following the trail of light or wind mana. Of course, based on the context of the environment, this skill may not be particularly helpful at times. Using it while sailing on the high seas to search for water mana, for example, will probably overload the Sage's senses. Sense Element has a casting time of 10 seconds, a range of 25 meters, and a cooldown of 60 seconds.
Crafting Class: Alchemist[attr="class","skillbox2"] Transmutation - Tier 1 - Alchemists are naturally aligned with the power of magical equipment, able to use the Adventurer skill [Equipment Mastery: Magical] as a Beginner-level skill without having it take up a skill slot. Their research also gives them an advantage in fighting Artificial Life to deal an additional 10% damage. If [Equipment Mastery: Magical] is already learned through racial or class bonuses, Magitech damage increases by 10%.

Kane's head was swimming. He sat upon the roof of the cathedral, overlooking the vast city of Londonium. He knew so much and had so little way to process it. Making matters worse, he could feel the pieces of Noctis grasping for cohesion in the back of his mind. He could feel the other spirit drowning. It made him nauseous. For once he didnt know what to do. He finally came to the conlusion to call up a friend, someone he trusted, someone he felt he could discuss these new events with. Pulling up the interface, he selected his Guild leader and friend Dumah, and sent him a PM.
Dumah, If you get this, could you meet me on the roof of the guildhall. Theres some things I need to discuss with someone. Noctis
Hitting send, he leaned back and stared off into the evening sky.
~
He would hear his guildmaster approachin, as the few sounds from the streets below were just the calm sounds of people having their dinner, Kane sat overlooking towards the setting sun. His suit seemed a bit disheveled, his tie loosened and the top buttons undone. Instead of his normal, rather well dressed self, he looked like a man whom had just come back from a bad funeral of a close family member. A single cigarette sat glowing out of place in the edge of his mouth. Hearing his guild master he would turn, removing the burning piece of paper from his mouth and motioning. "Come come sit, make yourself comfortable." He would hold up his box offering dumah his own, before setting it down and continuing. Gazzing off at the bright colors, he addressed his friend after takimg a drag of the stick. "You know, I havent sat down and appreciated the sunset in a while. Ive been so busy with adjusting to the world as a whole that I just...ignored it. But now, sitting here...if I died right now with this as my last view, I think I could die happy..." he took the stick from his lips, letting out a slow stream of smoke, holding up the embered end to silhouette the sun in his vision as he waited for a response from his friend.

One suggestion that was proposed in the C-Box was the possibility of opting-out of the wipe instead for being level-locked from participating in plotline related quests. Personally I would be comfortable with tgis suggestion as,while i would technically not exist until the plotline caught up to where my level was, I could at least find a way to explain it in character (already thought of a fairly reasonable way to explain it). If we were given tgis option as players, I and many other I would assume would at least be grateful that our characters and the development that took place in their creation is not sullied but allowed to continue thriving in another form

These are my own thoughts on the matter so im just gonna put them out there. I can understand where youre coming from with the idea for a whole site wide reset, and while I can see the good that would come out of it, at the current place where it stands I dont think I could agree to it. There are a lot of people on here who are still active or plan to return and while I can understand the difficulty with such a playerbase being so vastly different in level and skill I dont think a full wipe back to zero would be fully fair to those who have put in the time or the effort to reach those higher levels. What I propose is at least a system where if they are higher than level 10, they are kicked down to level 10 plus a bonus amount of levels (just throwing some numbers out here to show my train of thought but something like level 10+ ((their level-10)/5). At least in a system like that, those who have stayed and remained active would still get some sort of recognition for their continued efforts and love of the forum without fully kicking everyone down all the way into the dirt.
Again just an idea but it might help.

To sense the fear in the cleric's face was something the heretic had become all too familiar with. It meant in no way had he gotten used to it, quite the contrary in fact. The initial aversion most people felt to his body's looks, as well as the creeping feeling he could tell they sensed from the latent miasma always seemed to strike some sort of a chord with him. He was at heart a people person after all, and to see people so quickly turned away by something he no longer had control over always saddened him a bit. But he had gotten better at hiding it. As the cleric seemed to regain composure he introduced himself as Ciriodhul, a cleric as well as a housekeeper. It was always interesting to Kane to see someone pick that subclass, as it never really struck him as useful, but that was of course a personal choice from one whose primary gift always seemed to lie in puzzles.
Returning the gesture, he bowed back, carrying the strange regalia of a wise man or butler, his dark pinstripe suit accentuating his movements. "It's a pleasure Cirio. You can call me Noctis, as most else do. I am the resident Heretic and Sage within Noihara. I do apologize for any strange crawling or otherwise eerie feelings you had when I first entered, they tend to be a byproduct of the Miasma my class makes use of." Standing back upright, he looked over at his leader as he explained the situation. It appeared that the priest wanted to join their little marry band of misfits, and, as per the usual, Dumah extended to the newest member a flaming hand. It was a trust exercise first and foremost, as Kane had learned firsthand, recalling the trepidation he had held himself. In the back of his mind he could feel Noctis stirring. I always thought that this was an interesting little ritual, said the spirit of the being in the back of his mind.
As the cleric grasped Dumah's hand, he began to slowly take a little damage and, after having his fun sitting idly for a while and, as Dumah released the cleric's hand, He chuckled a bit. "Allow me to help a bit." As the cleric and his leader would continue to carry on their conversation, Kane began a small little healing ritual with his skills. He first cast Tainted Charity in order to heal the Cleric, then focused Exocytosis in order to take the trace corruption the spell left upon the target, and moved it into himself. He then focused and repeated the process as Tainted Charity required to be cast like such in order for the healing to stick, and once again took the trace amounts of miasma into his own body through Exocytosis.

The monk was fast, the heretic would give him that. Normally the pain would be a little too great for any normal man to come straight at him again so quickly. He was lucky though. What the heretic lacked in physical damage he made up for in ingenuity, as the miasma appendage forked its way around. He saw the straight coming and quickly abandoned his charge on the shackles, instead cutting quickly into a Parry and a strike at the throat with the black appendage. That being said the monk quickly adapted, throwing punches at a much faster speed. In his twisted mind he was ready to go at it again and take this monk straight on, but something suddenly interrupted, started pulling on his right arm and seemed to throw off the monk. With a hint of confusion in the back of his mind, the heretic turned to look and saw the form of a girl clutching his arm amd calling them purty. For now, his mind had, quite honestly fully switched off from the fight. This new, interesting, unafraid face had seized his attention for now, and it seemed to be pulling him slowly farther from the monk. "Hello there," the words seemed to fall out between his teeth with a dark but strangely hypnotic quality. "And what dark star did you happen to fall from, my angel?"
The girl began whispering in his ear about calling off the fight, and to be frank, he was fully ready to. In the back of his mind he knew that if this kept up much longer, his fun would most likely be cut short, and he wanted none of that. However just as his mouth opened to agree he heard the rather insipid monk open his mouth, still fuled by his insatiable sense of wrath and pride. The heretic knew what was coming and mafe a move to move the smaller girl out of the way. Something within him, something the miasma could not overthrow welled up inside him. He began charging up miasma bullet in an open hand. He knew it wouldnt be at full charge, but it would be enough to cause some damage. "Now, now, not in front of the lady!" As the monk came down, the heretic sidestepped with spellwalking, and, having been able to tell where the monk would land thanks to his rather obvious telegraphing, the heretic managed to place the bullet right into the lower softspot of the monks back, right on his kidney.
"I am done playing with my food monk. Leave. I have no further quarrel with you."
--- Notes: miasma bullet at 2 sec cast time + 1 sec = 125% damage + 25% from corruption mutations + 5% from his party skill + 5% from race of ritual = 160% damage

Kain sat in the library pouring over some old texts as well as new ones, and carrying on a rather strange conversation with the second spirit within his head.
"There has to be some sort of a way to maintain psychologiccal control within corruption Noctis. I refuse to believe that there is not a single recorded instance where a heretic has always remained in control for at least an extended amount of time."
"Such is our curse Kain. We gain incredible power, but we often lack the necessary power to contain and control it."
Kain scratched his head. There had to be something. Possibly even in one of the other subclasse. All he had though was records and books to go on. Nothing concrete.
"Maybe we should talk to Dumah. He way not be a heretic, but he is our guild leader. At the very least he could give us some sort of second project to do. I'm tired of staring at all of these books getting nowhere."
"Fair enough." Responded the voice in his head.
The heretic got up, gathering his books and notes, taking his stack of books and taking the time to meticulously check them each back into their respective homes. With a sigh he collected up his journals and papers, and with a swipe of the interface deposited them into his inventory before setting off down the stone halls of the cathedral. The sunlight poured in through the cathedral windows, many casting large dynamic shadows throughout the hall, the occassional Noihara banner flapping in a gentle breeze that seemed to always soundlessly flit through the various rooms and halls. It was refreshing especially for a creative like Kain.
Eventually, he found his way to the guildmaster's office l. With a quick and light rap on the door, he realized that the room's lights were off. "Huh, empty." He thought to himself where dumah might be. Knowing his guild leader he was either out and about or practicing in the tailor room. He figured it wouldn't hurt to just go ahead and check before giving up on running into him and set off towards the room with the fabrics and the needles.
As he aproached he could hear two voices coming from the room . While muffled, he still recognized his guild master's voice, but the second was foreign to him. It held a rather interesting level of honorifics. He decided to go ahead and enter but decided to refrain from introducing himself right away as Dumah and the new face seemed to be involved in a conversation. Walking in, he leaned against the wall near the door, his tall, thin frame accentuated by the pinstripe suit he adorned, his dark hair and eyes still rippling with a small amount of violet from the miasma, his stitching visible around his mouth. As the conversation died down, he would address the two.
"Afternoon Dumah. Who's the new blood?"

If the Heretic had any sense left about him, it had apparently left. his muscle memory and technique he had managed to all but disappear within the depths of his now twisted mind. In short, he never saw the trip coming. It was lucky for him though that the Miasma Appendage existed as it did, snaking its way through the stitching holding together his almost undead form. it shot out from the small of his back almost like a tail, supporting him, and launching him back up into the air a bit from the trip. A strange cackle coming from within his lips, the dark mist of the miasma pouring out heavily from between crooked teeth. "Muda, muda, muda, muda!" He thought that for a moment he had gone back to holding the upper hand. What he didn't count on however was the Monk's speed. The heretics eyes grew wide, his grin only growing wider as the monk dashed forward grabbing his legs. He knew full well, even through the dark haze that he has just boarded a one way train to Suplex City, and he wanted out. As the monk lifted the heretic, he quickly used the miasma appendage to quickly snake around and strike at the back of the monk's neck, right where it met the cranium. Assuming it worked, regardless of damage, it should at least hurt being a pressure point within the human body, and should allow the heretic some time at least to get a few feet away from the monk. Either way, he knew he'd at least be smashed face-first into the ground at least once, but if he did manage to escape, he would quickly take advantage of the fact that Shackles of the Sentenced had just run off its cooldown so that he could use it again.

"Oh so you wanna go punk?" The heretic cackled out, the miasma converging on him as he activated Vessel of Chaos. The blackish mist began to swirl and solidify around his arms producing (of all things) a metal pair of monk gauntlets. As they formed the monk closed in with his flying kick, the heretic once again using spellwalking to move out of the way. Thanks to his corruption level, the weapons were also level 49 gauntlets, which meant that he could at least pose a minor threat. He had just finished his cast time as the monk landed beside him, and not a moment too soon. As soon as thw monk landed he wohild start off with a hard right hook and whatever the monk would thow at him next, he would use parry to block it and follow up with another strong punch combined with a strike from his Miasma Appendage. At this point he was past words, just driven by pure ecstasy of the fight.

The heretic was totally prepared to just blast the everlasting everything out of the mural before their team lead finally managed to translate it. In fact, he was already mid charge on a fully charged miasma bullet, the dark mass producing a strange echoing sound as it slowly grew in size and absorbed ambient mana from the environment. as dumah gave a cry of relief and began translating in mythic script over the runes, he canceled the skill, the bolt dispersing back into the environment. What caught him off guard however was that everyone was turning to him now to answer it. He was quite honestly confused by the riddle. It made very little sense to him at first glance. in a strange sense of contemplation he sat down in front of the wall, his finger tracing the air as he read through the whole poem a few more times on his own, before toggling his own mythic script ability and writing in the air around him in some sort of ritual to better understand the puzzle that lay before him.
"Let us see here...in times of despair...everlasting presence...calm and fear...shutting of eyes but can't escape...whole being broken by an attempt so light..." he sat head sat resting cheek upon his left fist, his right hand outstretched writing in the air and seeming to draw arrows as he drove his train of thought out loud. "well everlasting presence would mean an idea or concept of somesuch, something intangible, but whole being broken by a light attempt...light could mean many things but generally means in this sort of a case, a rather simple method. So something everlasting, broken by a simple method...but the everlasting concept seems to be linked by calm and fear...it could mean that it causes both but it could also mean one or the other. 'In times of despair' sounds important though so I shouldn't discount that yet...I doubt that it is hope because it seems to be something conotated with calm and fear and people rarely fear hope. However, while Despair might be a good option, I doubt the answer to the riddle would be used in the riddle itself, as such would simply be poor forethought and construction. Death is another concept that comes to mind, but it is only overcome in this world thanks to our respawn mechanic, so I doubt that would be the answer as this seems to be directed towards mortal men, and at this point we are far from it. In times of despair....My best guess at this point would be something along the lines of Shadows, Darkness or the Night at this point, mainly because the dark is something generally associated with despair, it is an everlasting presence as it stands opposite of the eternal concept of light, many children and people fear it, but some also come to see it as a source of calm (myself included), shutting your eyes can't escape it, and its broken by a very light attempt i both the meanings of easily creating light, as well as the idea of light itself. If none of those work, my next highest guess would be Silence, as quiet comes in despair as one gives up, it is eternal, cant be escaped by shutting your eyes, can calm some but scare others, and can be solved simply by making noise. Both also seem to fit thematically with the dungeon as this is essentially a giant underground crypt and aside from the slimes we have seen plenty of both Silence and Darkness.

He could almost feel the Monk's frustration. In a way it was palpable and almost made the Heretic smile. In fact, it did make him smile. The monk would put up a fun little fight at least, keeping the heretic enjoyed. He saw as the monk's first punch flew towards him, twisting quickly out of the way "We can't have that now can we!" A smile sat upon his face as he turned loosely about, "Well that was a close-"
The monk's second hand came flying out, too late for the crazed heretic to dodge. As the fingers grasped at his neck, a wheezy "Ello Poppet" came out from his lips. The arm retracted a few seconds later and, as he came face to face with the monk only the most appropriate of lines came to his twisted mind, "Tighter daddy!" He let out with a vicious chuckle before the monk's grip tightened and began to lift him off the ground. "No sense of humor I see," He wheezed out. "Well its too bad Kaiba! You activated my Trap Card!" With a sickening laugh, the miasma appendage he had summoned earlier shot out from under his drooping scarf, sucker punching the monk to the crotch just hard enough to make him loose his grip and the heretic "Attack the enemy crab's weakspot for MASSIVE DAMAGE!" With a rather sickening grace to backflip a bit out of the way, just in time for the earlier sigil he placed to activate right before the chains collapsed, dousing the monk in even more corruption, with a loud and cheerful "Mazel tov!" To emerge from the heretic as he threw up his hands in joyous celebration.

The one thing that the monk didnt count on however, was the simplest trick the heretic had in his book: he began to take a few steps back. True, the speed of the monk was greater with his flying punch, but a little distance was all the heretic needed. As he began to walk back, still channeling the skill, he could see a bit of suprise creep across the monk's face. The punch connected at just the last second, spinning the heretic around as he flowed with the punch. As he fell back the chains flew up from the ground, latching around the monk and rooting him in place. The heretic's smile grew wider as he threw up the sigil beneath the immobilized monk to bind some ambient miasma to him, all while walking further away thanks to his Spellwalking ability. "I think ill be fine without it thanks."
