WORDS 695 TAGS NOTES 1 pig down! | When Penumbro had woken up, it was just after dawn of his second day trapped in the game known as Elder Tale. Penumbro got up off the ground, stretching and popping his various joints. Penumbro had to admit, the joys of being able to sleep anywhere was something he could get used to. Now he understood why he found so many cats sleeping in random places; their fur was the perfect blanket and cushioning, making even the ground seem comfortable to him. However, Penumbro couldn’t just laze around all day yet. He had read about a similar situation that happened in an anime he watched while he was still in High School. If you wanted to stay ahead of the pack, you had to maximize the time you were earning experience early, because it was easier to keep a lead than it was to gain one. Penumbro started to walk towards the market square which was in between him and the gate to the outside zones. As Penumbro walked, he observed his surroundings, and found many of the players curled up in the fetal position, lost in despair over their fate. “You would have thought some players would welcome this as an adventure like I do...” Penumbro said to himself, his ears twitching in pity at the down trodden newbies. As he left the marketplace, it seemed as if the world got lighter. It was almost as if the accumulated despair of all the players was manifesting and weighing down all who inhabited the market place. Glad to be rid of the depression and angst that was inhabiting the market place, Penumbro sighed in relief as he exited the gates to the zone outside London. The change in atmosphere was the first thing Penumbro noticed. There was a more natural feel to this place. Maybe it was the sounds of leaves rustling in the wind or the smell of lumber in the air, but Penumbro felt like he could actually breathe out here without being overcome by depression. Penumbro marveled at the glorious spectacle that was the trees and greenery that dotted either side of the rode. Knowing he would find few to no monsters near the road, Penumbro veered off the road and entered the woods to the left of the rode, violin at the ready. A short time after he had lost sight of the road behind him, Penumbro happened upon a small boar lacking tusks. Penumbro grinned as he focused on the boar, creeping closer before letting loose, playing a few violent notes, and watched as the manifested into barely visible sound waves. Then as if he was a conductor, he directed the waves at the young boar. The boar let out a sharp squeal as the sound waves made contact, sending it back a couple inches. After the boar stopped sliding, it was staggering as the sound waves disoriented it. Penumbro grinned as he played a few more violent notes, sending them once more at the boar, sending him back a few more inches. After this had been accomplished, Penumbro switched his violin out for his Starter Long Bow and arrows. Penumbro notched an arrow on his string and took aim at the pig that was now staggering back and forth. Penumbro let the arrow fly, scoring a hit on the boar’s back, causing it to squeal in pain, but the stagger effect to lessen, as for the first time in the fight, the boar set its eyes on the bard. Penumbro notched another arrow. As Penumbro drew back the string on his bow, the boar dug at the ground for a moment before charging in Penumbro’s direction. Penumbro steadied his aim and let the pig approach him more. When the pig was no more than 15 feet in front of him, Penumbro let fly his arrow, piercing the boar through the skull, killing it outright. Penumbro smiled to himself, he had made his first kill. Penumbro went over to the body to loot whatever it may have dropped. After all of that have been sorted out, Penumbro resumed his trek into the woods in search of more mobs to kill. |
