Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Samurai's Challenge It started with lander gossip in Londenium. They had their tall tales and stories, but one particular conversation interested the blue-eyed samurai. She just overheard those landers who arrived from Savill Flower Grove; that most forsaken of places. Beautiful yet deadly... and full of slimes. Eew. Still, there seemed to be something there which was of interest to several adventurers. A field boss which was yet to be conquered. Caerbannog wanted to see it. Why? Because yes. So without as much as a word of warning or an explanation, she dragged their guild leader Kumori off to the Grove. Never mind his protests or huffs and puffs and whatever else. Caerbannog wanted to see the damn field boss and that was that. Somewhere around the less deadly places of the Flower Grove, a few landers gave out a related quest. Slay the beast, they said. Take down Maledict Mayahuel. Caerbannog did not take that quest though. She just waltzed into the deeper parts of the Grove with the assassin in tow. “ Mayahuel-chwaaaan?! You there? “ she yelled at anything and everything that she saw, but there came no reply. After a few minutes of running around in circles, the time and place finally was just right. As the clock struck twelve somewhere in Londenium, Caerbannog found her way into a perpetually withered area of Savill Flower Grove. Before her very eyes, it appeared: a blood red flytrap that was much taller than her. The bigger they are, the harder they fall- the samurai was not afraid of mobs and bosses even if they were taller than her. It made her want to cut them down to show them who’s boss. The girl’s wolf hair features soon appeared. Her fluffy ears twitched and the tail pointed down; her canines grew longer and her blue eyes turned golden. A playful smirk appeared on her face as Caerbannog put her right foot forward towards the field boss. She had one hand on her saya while her right hand was raised up to her eye level. She made a thumb-up sign at Mayahuel and then she flipped that sign down... the vertically-challenged samurai issued a gods-damned [Samurai’s Challenge] against the storeys-high Maledict Mayahuel.

Oxford stumbled out of the inn that he managed to find, a sub-par establishment with soft beds and even softer food.
(I couldn't even keep my scrambled eggs on the fork, they seemed to be hell-bent on living on the floor...)
Despite the lack of breakfast, the hotel had offered a nice view of some of the flower gardens, the sprouts rippling like a wave as the sky breathed on them, spreading the flowers' scents everywhere.
After admiring the scene from the inn window, he decided to go ahead and take his leave, pulling a hand through his hair as he yawned. The bachelor's method to dealing with bed hair.
As he walked through the Grove, he thought he heard a familiar voice yelling somewhere not far off. As he scanned the area, the clock bell began to chime, sounding off twelve gongs to indicate the time.
At this time, a stalk rose, bearing a crimson red plant resembling the Venusian Flytrap. Two people were standing in front of it, the shorter of the two stepping forward and doing the thumbs-down gesture you only see in various Japanese animations.
(I'll bet anything that that's Caer...but I don't know the other guy...)
He looked back at the plant, then back at the Wolf-Hair Samurai, her ears twitched in anticipation. Then he looked back to the nasty plant, drool dripping from its gaping maw.
"Poor thing..."
Of course, he was talking about the plant. It had no idea what it had gotten itself into. The other person looked fairly experienced, an Assassin by the looks of him.
Judging by the size of the monster, Oxford figured it probably wouldn't hurt if he got in on this. He drew his sword and adjusted his Tower Shield, going ahead and activating <Shield Mastery> so he could swing it around like his old buckler shield.
"Well, what have you gotten yourself into now, Caer? Find yourself another friend?"
She was beating him in levels and now she was beating him in friends. He grinned as he shook his head, the monster still continuingto hiss at them. |

Hiro gave a disgruntled sigh, as he walked about the Savill Flower Fields. He had heard about the monster from the People of the Land, and that it would be spawning sometime soon. So, Hiro went ahead and decided to check this out. He heard also that people were also going to fight this monster sometime today. And, he found both tidbits of information to be true. There were, in fact, a few people going out to find this monster, and this monster was definitely going to be appearing sometime today. But, what he didn't realize would be how swift and sudden this battle would be taking place. But, he would get to that soon enough. His first trouble was the fact that he had to find the monster to begin with. Which meant probably an hour to search around for the boss-level floral beast. It seemed fitting that the boss started, or spawned, in the flower fields. Hiro chuckled a bit, remembering that he would always sleep there before a quest, despite the origin of the quest. It was a nice spot, really. Usually sunny and warm, surrounded by all sorts of weak enemies, this was the perfect place.
But, enough of that. Hiro eventually found himself nearby the right place for him to battle with the monster. However, what he found weird about the situation, was that there was a female, dragging a male, and shouting for the beast to appear. Well, that's a weird way to go about it. He thought to himself for a moment, before watching them walk over towards where he would normally lay down and rest. Hiro hoped that they wouldn't take a break at his usual spot, because that's just what it was: his usual spot. Sure, he was probably being a bit of a selfish jerk about it, but that place was special to him. Then again, he really didn't mind if more people would use the spot, and perhaps make a few friends in that place. But, he decided to just forget about it, and turn the other way, searching for the monster once again. However, that search was short lived, when the monster appeared before the male and female group: Right where his spot was.
"Aww, damn, that's my favorite spot!" Hiro said, hopping before breaking out into a sprint towards the battlefield. And, at that moment, Hiro saw that not only was another person running up to the scene, but also that the female had challenged the plant beast already. What the hell were they thinking!? That thing's a boss! Sure, he wanted to get in the fray as soon as possible, but still! A bit of pause, time to relax and prepare before the fight, would probably serve to everybody's benefit. Then again, the closer Hiro got, the more he realized just how much of a higher level that female was. Level 55. Hiro stopped for a moment, and observed his own level 31 status. Although, the other two were closer to his own level, it still was going to be a pretty one-sided fight. A level 55, with two level 30's and a level 25 versus a level 30 Field Boss, with the equivalence in levels to a level 35. Yeah, this was a one-sided fight.
Hiro finally reached the battle zone, and observed the members around him. The Female was a Samurai, and, of course, had the highest level in the group. The male she had brought with her was far under-leveled from the female, but was still a higher level than Hiro. Not to mention, the male was an Assassin. The Damage per second that he could display would be intense. The last one, a Guardian, was the lowest level, only being 25. But, still, a Guardian had the defensive capabilities to rival this boss. And there was talk of a fifth person, as well, who was at least as high a level as Hiro, if not higher. Hiro got into a battle stance, putting his right fist before him, his left hand nearby his chest, and his body turned to the left. Hiro smirked, and nodded to the others. "Pleased to meet you all. Name's Hiro. Now, let's kick this thing's ass." Hiro lowered his stance, readying himself for whatever would be coming at him. Being an evasive tank, it would do him some good to be able to draw the aggro, and dodge everything as it came their way. But, he had no taunt. He shrugged it off, thinking that he'd find his own way to attack and then evade. From what he heard in an old TV show, it was the typical Air-bender Technique.

This was the redheaded Enchanter known as Capsule. The redhead had been out here all morn, clad in her all black cloth armor, a basket in one arm, a large scrap of parchment in the other, and a commandeered sun hat atop her head. Her faithful rabbit companion, Fiver, was dawdling about with some old friends. The redhead was obviously hunting for certain plants and flowers, as was evident by her studying of the vegetation and the contents of her basket. "Mint leaves, rose petals… Can I even find mint out here? Maybe I should have haggled more with that merchant," she muttered to herself as she examined the plants at her feet. It should not be that hard to find roses, though.
She sniffled and rubbed at her nose with the back of her hand, wincing at the amount of pollen in the air. How on earth did Fiver and other animals with strong senses tolerate this? "Oooh, passion flowers!" Capsule bent over to collect some of the odd looking flowers. These were also on her list, though she did not expect to have any difficulty in finding them, unlike roses and mint leaves. She obviously was not looking hard enough. "Nngh…"
Capsule, tired from searching all day, fiddled around in her inventory for the lunch she had prepared hours ago. It was nearing lunch time and she was growing ravenous. The search for those hard to find plants would continue after a short break. A simple pressed sandwich, comprised of bread, cheese and spinach was unwrapped from a piece of cheesecloth. Capsule took a large bite from it, scrunching her nose up a bit at the strong flavor. The best part about this sandwich was that it was an assortment of base materials, and not something she had to pay to have made by a Chef. Buying ingredients in bulk and making your own "meals" was a lot cheaper as a result. She slowly shuffled along as she ate, keeping an eye out for any signs of the plants she was on the hunt for.
The faint sound of church bells announced that noon was here. Capsule paid it no mind, utterly oblivious of what she was about to walk into. All the signs were there, but she wrote off the slowly gathering presence of Adventurers as a simple grind or solo session. There were plenty of monsters to practice on out here, after all. It wasn't until she reached the withered area that Capsule saw what was up; a giant flower in the likeness of a Venus flytrap sat in the middle of a sea of dead flowers and vegetation. "...Hmm?" That was definitely new. She had not run into anything like that before, but she had also not seen so many dead flowers in one place.
There was some shouting coming from the other side of this massive Venus fly trap, which she felt compelled to refer to as "Audrey III," a reference to the musical about a man eating plant named "Audrey II". This thing looked much too large to be a regular monster, and was either undocumented or her lack of eavesdropping in taverns was coming back to bite her in the ass. 'I've got to tell Scribol about this,' was all she could think as she stood there. The plant would hopefully stay focused on the group in front of it while she made a quick and crude sketch, the remains of her sandwich clamped between her teeth. "Maledict Mayahuel" was the name of this monster, and it was a level thirty - 'Holy shitsnacks. That's a field boss.' Should she skedaddle? She should probably skedaddle.
Her basket, parchment and quill were stored within her inventory, but she pulled out her cloak, Evanescence, and slung it over her shoulders. If the plant was anything like the Nepent Snatchers, it would make up for its lack of eye sight by tracking seismic movement, so trying to hide herself like this was useless, as Dio Brando would say. The false hope it gave her was still nice, though. A strong gust of wind picked up as she tried to edge herself away from the dead patch of flowers, blowing the hat on her head away and sending a mass of dead leaves and petals into her face. Capsule grunted in annoyance as she swatted at her eyes and face, now stumbling backwards under the strength of the wind. Really, wind? Really?
She turned her back to the wind, which wasted no time in fanning turning her cloak inside out and above her shoulders. Talk about obnoxious. The sun hat that she had thought Gone With the Wind was now perched on Audrey III's "head". The sight was absurd enough to make the redhead snicker. How hard could it be to defeat this monster, anyway? Certainly no one under leveled would try fighting it, unless they had some mighty big balls. Capsule was neither under leveled or in the possession of balls, large or small, but she was curious. She could always run if things turned nasty, but on the off chance that this monster actually dropped something decent, it would be best to stay and tough it out. Hel, maybe it even dropped materials for Pharmacists. That alone was enough to convince her to stick around for a while.
Now wondering if she would regret this change of heart later, Capsule carefully edged around Audrey III and to where the other Adventurers stood. She recognized Caerbannog right away, along with her long haired male companion. She had met those two during a combat mission in Sarum, but only met the long haired fellow once. There were two other males besides him, ones unfamiliar to her. Capsule's presence saved Caer from what would have been a total sausage fest. 'I hope that's not all I can keep her safe from.' It was uncomfortably apparent that she was the second highest level here after Caer, with the rest of the tanks and DPS being a mix of level 30's. The amount of Hate she was going to receive… 'Oh boy…' With her grimoire she casted the spell Keen Edge on the group as a show of good faith, and quickly stepped behind the others to let them do their part.

| Kumori HP: 100% MP: 100% | "In order to live, I will continue to fight. In order to retain my humanity, I will continue to destroy those who mean to harm my friends." |
Ryuu woke up to violent shaking. He hadn’t set up his alarm that day because he was ready to sleep in. He had slept pretty late that morning, wanting to get a full sleep before he had to wake up and relax all day. It was his supposed day off. Did Guild Leaders get days off? Well, regardless, he felt like being lazy today, and well, Kyuu wouldn’t have it. The pleas for ‘onii-chan’ to wake up were met with a roll and a pull of the blanket over the face. The shaking got worse, and worse, until finally Kyuu threw him off the bed. Well, it was more like a kick to roll him off the bed. “Nyuuuu” he let out sleepily, “shleepy,” he said now bundling his blanket and putting it at the bottom of his head for a makeshift pillow. Plop. Kyuu jumped right on top of his body, and the first reaction he had was his body jolting up and a scream of pain: “OOOOOOOOWWWWW.” The roles were reversed as to how they usually were. Usually Ryuu was the one dragging Kyuu out of bed, but Ryuu really just wanted to sleep. “I’m awake, I’m awake… what are we doing?” he asked as he stretched and yawned. The words “Field Boss” left the mouth of his colleague. “But I want to sleep,” She pulled him up and forced him to change into his battle clothes. Ryuu was sad, and quickly went into his menu to equip his armor and weapons. He then closed his eyes again. Kyuu began pulling him, and he followed lazily, eyes closed. He continued to stumble with his feet as he didn’t really feel like moving, but Kyuu dragged him off anyways. As soon as they approached the edge of town, Ryuu stood on his own two feet and followed the Samurai, still yawning.
Mayahuel… did she just say Mayahuel? he asked as the Samurai called out into the wilderness. He was finally fully awake when she was serious when she said Field Boss. He looked at the samurai and sighed. What trouble is she going to get us into this time? he asked. As soon as the clock struck 12, a patch of flowers withered and a gianormous venus fly trap was right in front of them. He looked at Kyuu with her battle-ready and excited expression. She had already challenged the boss with her skill. “Oh man, it’s happening…” he said to himself. It was then another man appeared who seemingly knew Kyuu. He looked over and nodded as he ran forward to also tank for him. He quickly started the party and added the two tanks to the party. A fourth showed up to the party. He was a monk, which meant that at this point in time, Ryuu was the only DPS that this party had. He added him to the party. Finally, the last one to appear was Capsule, who he had done an expedition in Sarum with. He added her to the party list as well, noting that this was indeed an interesting party. “Capsule, do you mind taking the lead like last time?” he asked her through the party telepathic communication, trying to put her as the Field monitor. As such, they had a better time beating this thing, even if the odds were stacked entirely in the party’s favor.
Ryuu rushed forth to join the fray while it’s attention was on the tanks. He had to take advantage of this time, now, and so he would use Quick Draw and attempt to appear behind the big field boss and attempt to use Assassinate if he could gind the right timing to attack at the backside of the Field Boss.

{Boss Information} {Boss Description}Maledict Mayahuel Level 30 Type: Plant Rank: Field Boss Found in: Savill Flower Grove Weakness/Resistances: Resist [Light, Earth, Water, Wind, Mind], Weak [Fire], Null [Poison, Sleep, Slow] Skills: - Immobility: Passive. It has a range of 5 meters. - Miasma Cloud: Spreads a poisonous mist over the surrounding 5 meters for 20 seconds. Enemies in this mist suffer damage over time the longer they stay in it. After leaving the mist, there is an additional damage over time effect for 10 seconds. - Acidic Sap: Shoots a stream of concentrated acid. The target suffers constant damage over time for 10 seconds. Their defense is also halved during this duration. - Solar Beam: Collects light energy and concentrates it into a laser attack. Enemies struck by the attack suffer heavy light damage. It has a 5 second cast time and a range of 10 meters. Description: A much-feared field boss that spawns once per day from 12-1 PM in the deepest part of the Savill Grove, in the middle of a flower patch that appears to be perpetually withered. It is a blood red carnivorous flytrap of roughly twenty feet, which attacks with a plethora of attacks. Its primary attack causes sharp roots to emerge from the ground and impale its foes. Secondary attacks include a spray of poisonous mist and blasts of concentrated acid. Finally, its ultimate attack is the ability to gather light particles to fire a powerful beam toward the foe. This monster is as equally powerful as it is rare, making it extremely difficult for any player to fight it alone. Fortunately, it is easy to spot from a distance, so you probably won't end up accidentally stumbling on it.
If Mayahuel-chan had been a shounen antagonist, it might have responded to Caerbannog's challenge with something along the lines of, "It's a fight!" Mayahuel was not a shounen antagonist, however. It immediately recognized the presence of five total adventurers in the area, and although it could not tell Caerbannog was being rather insulting, its focus was locked on the Samurai. It would have been a little too unfair if being blind meant being immune to Samurai taunts, after all. Mayahuel wasn't a basic enemy, however, and its AI had a basic grasp of tactics. As much as a giant flytrap could have anyway. The flytrap seemed to let out a screech as its roots ran against the roots of trees in the ground, the crackling and vibrations causing the ground to shake slightly, immediately letting out a miasma via Miasma Cloud. It didn't even bother waiting for the other players to gather up, it was on the offensive the moment it was challenged. The shielded Guardian, Monk, Enchanter, and Assassin weren't completely ignored, but the Samurai had been challenged and Mayahuel was nothing if not aggressive. As the field boss it was, it did something rather unfair right off the bat. The deterrent to most lower health players would probably cut into Kumori and Capsule's health more than anyone else's, as they were the non-tanks of the party, but the carnivorous flora wasn't quite done yet. After all, Caerbannog had challenged it. The plant wasn't done yet, and the delay in between its last skills and now set it up for the rest of its combo. It had no choice but to reply to a challenge, using a combination of two skills in a row. The plant let its roots jump out through the ground, activating Uproot. Caerbannog certainly had a chance to dodge if she was quick, and it'd be a good idea for her to, because the moment that was done, Mayahuel was charging up for its ultimate assault. Solar Beam was being charged up and would be ready by the time the roots cleared out. The downside of attracting all the hate and sending out a challenge, was it? Mayahuel-chan just wanted Senpai to notice her, after all. Caerbannog-senpai, onegai-desu~

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Tanshochousho | Denkosekka | Izunagiri | Bishamonkeshin | Murakumonotachi Adventurers gathered into the field boss’ area, or stumbled there by accident, and their presence was noted by the samurai. She acknowledged most with a nod; one to her friend, the guardian Oxford, the other also a tank named Hiro. Capsule was, unfortunately, out of Caerbannog’s sight and remained unnoticed by the samurai until Keen Edge was cast on their small group of optimistic, or suicidal, adventurers. With that buff on, Caerbannog took it as a cue to start the fight. Well, there was that- and the boss which was already preparing to attack.
The samurai toggled [Tanshochousho] on while she waited for the field boss to initiate its first move. What was the point of the Challenge if she was going to move? And then it came, Mayahuel’s response to the samurai’s Challenge in the form of a Miasma Cloud. As the poisonous mist spread across the area, Caerbannog activated [Denkosekka], drew her weapon and raised it overhead. She brought it down with the move [Izunagiri] aimed at the field boss. As the vacuum of air moved in towards the creature, prepared to dash towards the boss. If anything, she had to keep all the Hate on herself and let the others hit the boss.
The samurai was immobilized by Mayahuel’s Uproot though for she opted to chain Izunagiri instead of getting out of the way. The field boss then began to collect light energy, reminiscent of a Pokemon move. Caerbannog held her nagamaki with one hand to her right side while her free hand gestured for others to move out of the way. The attack was aimed at her and she would tank it like a boss. The samurai executed her third chain [Bishamonkeshin] while Mayahuel charged up. Both figures emitted a bright light: Caerbannog with her buff and the field boss with its attack. Unlike Samurai’s Challenge though, Bishamonkeshin was dependent on its visual effect to gain mob Hate so Mayahuel was immune to that additional effect, what with being blind and all.
With the boss focused on the Uprooted samurai whose chain was up to three, she slashed an arc towards Mayahuel to create a barrier with [Murakumonotachi]. She was not sure if Bishamonkeshin’s buff would remain but at least the HP damage from the Miasma Cloud was regenerated by the skill up to that point. Caerbannog created the barrier to lessen the impact on herself and to shield two other members of her party in case they moved in, in addition to the weak barrier made by Denkosekka. She directed the extra barriers towards their support Capsule and their main DPS Kumori. The samurai then held her nagamaki up and braced for the incoming Solar Beam.

The battle started off with the hazy purple fog of Mayahuel's (actually, for simplicity's sake, Mayaheul will be referred to as 'Maya-chan' for the rest of the post) [Miasma Cloud]. Oxford coughed as his passive skill [Resilience] kicked in, allowing him to regain most of the HP lost due to the poisoned air every couple of seconds.Caer had managed to get in a set of skill chains before the monster managed to ensnare her with [Uproot], the Samurai finishing off the chain with the skill that has a name that would twist your tongue if you said it three times fast. The name has not been mentioned so that the dear reader does not injure his/her tongue in the process, distracting them from the battle at hand.Barriers appeared around the Samurai, the long-haired DPS, and a red-headed enchanter that he hadn't noticed before. As Oxford saw her, he realized that a status icon popped up on his HUD, showing that his attack was higher under the effect of [Keen Edge].(Perfect.)At this time, Maya-chan was getting ready to show Caer her most powerful attack, particles of light being drawn to the mutant plant's maw to entertain the viewer before the deadly finale.Oxford hefted his tower shield, the passive skill [Shield Mastery] kicking in to give it lighter weight and stronger defense, ready to jump in should things go not the way the Samurai planned.Instead, the Samurai waved her hand in a large sweep, a gesture for everyone to move away.(What a trooper. A level 55 trooper.)He turned to the Monk, an idea forming in his head."Hey, we should try surrounding this thing while it's focused on Caer. With 3 tanks on all sides, we should be able to wittle it's HP down pretty quickly."(That is, if the Samurai doesn't beat us to it.)He would've waited for a reply, but right now, time was of the essence. He took off around to the creature's right side, running as fast as his Level 25 legs would take him.He dealt an [Aura Saber] to the beast, the strike hitting the monster cleanly. His weapon still shone with the glow of Keen Edge, his HUD showing that the effect lasted for about another fifty minutes. It managed to take a chunk out of Maya-chan's HP, but it wasn't nearly enough to celebrate over.(Tch, this thing has some defense. Luckily, so do I.)Oxford raised his shield to protect himself, just in case Maya-chan decided that she wanted the attention of a lowly kouhai. |

Hiro had only a moment to recognize that Capsule, an Enchanter, had arrived, before the enemy began a barrage of attacks, starting with its skill Uproot. This meant that roots were going to attack Hiro from below, so he needed to keep on his toes. Literally. Luckily enough, he was probably the most evasive in the group. Unluckily enough for this boss, however, Hiro wasn't planning on tanking. His allies probably didn't know that, either, so he smirked as he started to dance and flip around all the roots as they came up. The Miasma Cloud didn't effect him enough to do any major damage yet, but it probably would soon enough. However, since it was an HP-draining attack, and since Monks had the highest health of all the other tanks, it probably won't effect him as much as the others. Not to mention his armor gave him a natural resistance to things like this. This boss was dead from the moment it spawned on his favorite spot, and he was going to make sure of that.
Most likely to the surprise of everyone else, Hiro dodged one more Uproot, and then charged right into the fray. He kept moving side to side, letting his speed build up naturally, and managed to get ahead of the roots as they came up. He charged right into the Cloud and delivered a strong punch to the body of the monster, before recoiling backwards with a backhand spring. It was at this moment that Hiro realized that it would be using its Solar Beam soon, and it looked like the others weren't all quite ready yet. While he was back, the samurai woman was already beginning her attack, and at that moment, Hiro noticed the skill Keen Edge lighting up his fists. The spell was supposed to be equipping the current weapons, right? So Hiro was surprised that his entire body wasn't glowing now. Even still, fists still did damage, so they got buffed. This was going to be fun. This was going to be so much fun. Hiro smirked, and charged in again.
He was going to expend as much mana as he could, so he could drag the aggro onto him. The others were certainly fit for fighting and all, but Hiro could probably handle the situation a bit better. If not him, then probably Oxford, the Guardian. But, the Samurai, as it seemed, didn't have any defense-boosting stats or abilities, aside for some armor. Either way, aggro needed to be on him. So, it was time to burn as many attacks as he could. Hiro started by toggling on Zoom Attack, followed swiftly by Bullet Punch, which created a flurry of fists that extended an extra meter from his body. Each punch had the strength and force of a normal punch, with some added magic damage on it, and the animation continued for 2 seconds, the entire time, Hiro was shouting "ORRA ORRA ORRRRRRA!!" It was at this time that it ended, and he swiftly leaped into the air, and performed a Wyvern Kick on the side of Mayahuel, and rebounded off of that. He shortly followed that up with Aura Kick, and at this time, the Zoom Attack skill buff ended. Time for the next attack.
Hiro took a few steps back, and started to charge his next ability: Incarnated Assault, his only current Tier 2 skill. During this, Hiro glowed golden, and he pooled in a large amount of mana for this attack. Hiro smirked at the enemy, as his hair started to flow in the mana wind. He charged ahead again, but this time incarnations of himself formed behind him, all smirking as he was. They dispersed around the plant, and went to attack the monster. Unfortunately, Uproot was still active, so a few of the incarnations disappeared after being struck. Even still, Hiro managed to get in a majority of the attacks. He vaulted backwards a few times, and took a defensive stance. It looked like he wasn't able to drag the aggro off of it, but he figured that he might as well prepare for it. He blasted away at least 20% of his total mana with all the attacks he made, and he'd taken a bit of damage from the Miasma Cloud, too. Instead of going to fight some more, he shifted his body and flexed, letting Iron Body, and Iron Rhino Stance to boost his defense by a fair amount. He stood, and prepared for the Solar Beam.

Capsule resisted the urge to gulp, and instead nodded, albeit nervously. This wasn't a normal monster they were going to be facing - this was a field boss. If she screwed up here, a few of them might end up in temporary body bags - 'Don't think about that right now. Don't. Look at the flower!' She was now regretting not choosing Astral Wall sooner, and wondered if it could even block the poisonous gas Audrey III - the Mayahuel - was sending out their way. 'Oh neep-'
As the others assumed offensive positions, Capsule drew her cloak around her body and head in vain. She could try to make a run from it, but this Miasma Cloud extended for five meters. 'Damn it.' Capsule thought as poisonous gas invaded the fabric of her cloak and armor. Her Detox passive made her immune to status effects from potions, but not naturally occurring defenses from mobs. It could, however, help her recover from poison effects twice as fast.
Capsule fell into a coughing fit from the poison she was ingesting, but managed to keep an upright (although slightly hunched) posture, her hands firmly gripping her grimoire, Watership Down. She felt like vomiting right about now, both out of poisoning and the frustration of not being able to directly help. Her usual tricks might not work against this monster. Pulse Bullet ate up too much MP if spammed, and movement restricting spells on a monster that couldn't move were just...silly. Gehenna Swarm, a recently acquired skill, was also out. The odds of it drawing aggro away from the lower leveled tanks was too big of a concern, but Prana Drain and maybe even Electrical Fuzz could come in handy.
Cap stepped forward and raised her grimoire, and almost noped out of there when she saw that the flower was gearing up for some sort of attack. 'Please don't die, Caer,' she thought as she casted Electrical Fuzz, followed by the spell Prana Drain. The little orb of electricity surged out and clung onto the Mayahuel, dealing some incredibly minor damage but making the plant twinkle like a poor Christmas light left to burn out until late February. Prana Drain left a bigger impression, causing a blackish mist to rise from the plant and towards the redheaded Enchanter. This spell, according to its description, was best used against enemies with little or no mobility, and could drain roughly one hundred HP, as long as the Enchanter using it could maintain contact with the target.
Capsule only bothered to keep the spell up for a second or two, which was enough to help regen the health she had lost from the poisonous miasma. She then threw herself to the side, pressing her body flat against the ground. Her health was much too low to stand up to whatever the flower had in mind, unlike her tanky companions, though Kumori was probably in as much danger as she was, or more, given his slightly lower level. She covered her head with her hands, hoping the man was taking similar precautions. Capsule was definitely Field Monitor of the year.

Ryuu braced himself, as it seemed the monster had reacted to the challenge. A mist ejected from the plant of doom and the poison status had been inflicted upon him. While he was in it, he could probably withstand a few moments within it, but what he was afraid of was the other attacks that were coming at them. Another blip showed up on his HUD showing that Keen Edge had been activated. Ryuu noticed his dagger glowing, only using his single, right-handed dagger in order to maintain as much accuracy as possible. Because his attacks did so much damage, it was necessary to make sure that no unnecessary moves were made. He had to get in and out of the Poison Miasma, or else he would be hurting in the long run. However, with the three tanks cooperating and trying to make a bid for attention, it gave Ryuu the necessary openings to deal as much damage as he could and get out as soon as he could.
Running out of the Poison Miasma, Ryuu was still sustaining damage from the poison, however he was no longer under the effect of the miasma. He was moving freely around the plant until he found what would be the back of it. Ryuu ducked down, setting himself into a sprinting position. Pushing off of his legs, he activated Quick Draw, dashing at an accelerated speed, he attacked Mayahual with a normal attack, however this was simply the beginning. He activated Stealth Strike as soon as he got in position, directly at the ‘back’ of the venus fly trap, and so long as it’s opening was facing away from him, his next move would deal a massive amount of damage in conjunction with his Stealth Strike. With as much strength, gusto, and precision, Ryuu performed Assassinate, jumping up and striking at the back of the Venus fly trap. With the Stealth Strike and Assassinate used together, he knew that a lot of damage had to have been dealt, however without celebrating his attack, he quickly dropped back to the ground and ran away from the field boss, attempting to limit the damage he was taking from the Poison Miasma. He would make his way towards Capsule, hopeful that he’d receive some healing from her. As he ran away from the field boss, he could only hope that his tanks still held the Hate for him. He had most likely done a devastating blow to Mayahuel, and that may have changed its targeting system. Thankfully, the swiftness of the Assassin was not one to be underestimated, as he would attempt to successfully dodge whatever attacks the field boss would throw at him, with the instruction of Capsule of which way to dodge. She was the field monitor, and she had full view of predicting the Field Boss’s attacks. “Don’t fail me now, guys…” he said as he received a slight barrier from Kyuu to protect him from some minor attacks that he may encounter. It didn’t protect against the Miasma, but he did know it protected him against physical attacks.

Senpai, don't you love me? Senpai, no~ Mayahuel wasn't exactly pleased at the current events, but it wasn't exactly pleased about anything right now. Stuck rooted to the ground, the oversized fly trap took Caerbannog's Izunagiri straight to the face, but that was all the damage the Samurai dealt. Aura Saber was taken to the side as well, but try as @0x1dea might, his skill did not increase the aggro on him quite enough. That was probably for the best. Still, Mayahuel-chan was so upset that her senpais weren't noticing her like she wanted them to, so very upset. It was almost like they didn't want to be her friends. Why, SENPAI. Had anyone been able to read the coding for the AI Field Boss, they might have seen the following written into the code. It was, of course, a joke. And the world itself wasn't all code anymore either, so it wasn't like that single comment inside the code actually did anything, but Mayahuel-chan did want her senpais to notice her. She was charging up that laser beam, because if she couldn't play with them, nobody could. Right? That Monk was everywhere at once and wasn't very quiet about it and Mayahuel found that a little attention-grabbing, but her focus was still on @dindeen. Although an AI, the strongest of creatures were sometimes known to exhibit a sort of 'personality' along with their attacking patterns. As a Field Boss, Mayahuel had a pattern all her own. It seemed the Monk of the party had plans as well, and the combination was a severe offensive. It wasn't like Mayahuel-wanted to, but she had to go ahead and smack the mean senpai in the face with one of her roots. A basic, unlisted attack and not even worthy of being called a skill, it was slow but heavy. It wasn't as though punching someone in the face was a 'skill', and much the same way, Mayahuel's whipping vine wasn't much of one either. That Zoom Attack of the Monk's kept its duration up through his Wyvern-Aura Kick combo, and now Mayahuel-chan had to notice her senpai. Was Monk-senpai calling her attention? Mayahuel was still doing its laser thing and the entire party did have five full seconds to get something done, but Hirosame had clearly extended beyond that limit. Two seconds for Bullet Punch, Two seconds for Aura Kick, and .75 seconds for Wyvern Kick. Even if the Monk had somehow managed to recognize the assault type of the Solar Beam and make all his intermediate motions with the .25 seconds of grace time he had, the Incarnated Assault would be unfortunately interrupted. A sharp screeching sound was heard once more as Mayahuel's roots ran against the roots of the other trees, the agitated creature taking more than it wanted to. Although Mayahuel-chan certainly knew that the Assassin was coming for its back, it didn't have any choice but to assault the Monk. Senpai had noticed Mayahuel-chan and now Mayahuel-chan was firing her lasers directly at Hiro-senpai's face. Nonstop. Normally, the attack might have been one to move around, to attack across a range, but it was aimed while Hiro was on his way down to perform the Aura Kick. The player might be able to get away from the full blast, but Mayahuel-chan's attack would at the very least assault the Monk for a rather high amount of damage. Senpai noticed her, after all. And while one senpai had noticed her, it seemed Kumori had gone and tried to attack the back of her head. She had noticed him, thanks to her passive ability, but the tanks had done their job. Mayahuel didn't move to face the assaulting Assassin until he landed his strike. The laser finished its damage soon and Mayahuel's 'face' turned incredibly rapidly to face Kumori. Its attention was on him. Root Spike. As though anticipating the Assassin might dodge that, the plant launched an Uproot immediately after, followed by an Acidic Sap. Assassin-senpai had her attention now. Anyone bothering to look at Mayahuel's health bar would note it seemed surprisingly low. The once green health bar had fallen to red to reveal another more purple-black bar underneath, and that too had fallen quickly. With no Scholars in sight, what they saw was exactly as had been described. It looked very much like Mayahuel was already on its last legs. Was the party really that strong? Maya-chan's senpais hadn't all noticed her yet, though. Capsule-senpai, won't you notice Maya-chan as well?

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Zantetsuken (C1) | Shunsen (C2) | Fuurinkazan (C3) | Yabouzan (C4) -or- Kodamakaeshi (C3) To say that Caerbannog felt panicked was not entirely accurate. There was a different term for it, for panic was not what she felt. Never mind the monk who had stepped in and shot out his own combos; he could take a Solar Beam to the face, probably. Never mind the guardian who struck the boss with his glowy sword; though lower leveled than her, with his shield and class he would be able to survive most attacks. She did not mind the fact that Mayahuel-chwan turned upon her brother either. He had it coming; sooner or later someone would have spat at his face anyway what with all his talking, and what better to brag about than deadly spit in the form of Acidic Sap from a field boss?
None of those things riled up the samurai. What made her angry, furious, absolutely livid was the fact that their only support was down on the ground and her oniichan failed to notice it. She was not sure about the others but the assassin was the one who made the most movements around the field boss area, and so she expected one Ryuunosuke Oshiro to assist Capsule in some way. But nope. So he was DPS and prioritized that, but could he not have checked the fallen enchanter after his attacks hit the target? No one was going to die in Caerbannog’s watch, nope. She was going to do her damned best to keep them alive, never you mind that she can’t actually heal anyone.
With Mayahuel-chwan’s attention on Kumori-oniichan, the samurai took that chance to dash towards the field boss and [Zantetsuken] the ground around its roots. Her objective was not to damage or even just hit the overgrown weed but to make its foothold unstable. Caerbannog cut the ground as deeply as her skill allowed with her nagamaki slashing from left to right. She then flipped her blade and threw the cutting vacuum wave of [Shunsen] at Mayahuel-chwan who was within her sword’s striking range after the initial movement to get that Zantetsuken in. Caerbannog then backed off from the field boss and chained her fiery buff [Fuurinkazan] . Her sight was set on Mayahuel-chwan and once the boss seemed to be fairly preoccupied, and because it was not going anywhere anyway, the samurai dashed forward to initiate and perform [Yabouzan]. If the field boss attacked using a ranged skill, however, Caerbannog would instead use [Kodamakaeshi] at an attempt to counter the attack somewhat while preserving her chain. She hoped that it was enough to draw the yandere field boss’ attention, and that someone in their group would assist Capsule who lay there seemingly kinda dead.

Maya-chan had ignored Oxford's efforts at wooing the monster, the plant now focusing its attack on the long-haired assassin. The Guardian had witnessed his feats in dealing a heavy blow to monster, whittling off another good chunk of HP from the beast.
However, Maya-chan was impressed with Kumori's efforts, and now began to turn its frontal assault onto the assassin. Spiked roots erupted from the ground beneath the assassin's feet, as well as the roots from Maya-chan's Uproot ability, threatening to snare the Assassin if wasn't quick enough.
Despite feeling a little down that his attacks weren't strong enough to gain Maya-chan's affections, he unleashed his offensive on it, hacking away at roots and foliage as if he were some sort of safari adventurer. [Keen Edge] added to the bite of his blade, his sword taking chunks out the plant stalk as he swung harder and harder.
Caer had also jumped into the fray, unleashing her own flurry of combos onto the beast. Instead of attacking the monster directly, she was more content to try uproot it from its spot, possibly exposing a weaker area to land more effective blows against it. Oxford had the feeling that, despite it being a good plan, the roots would lie deep into the ground, making it impossible for it to lose its 'footing'.
(If anything, it would spit out more roots to anchor it somewhere else.)The Guardian was pulling his arm back, ready to let into it with another [Aura Saber], but stopped when he heard a gurgling noise from inside. It reminded Oxford of the time when he had too much spicy food in one night, his stomach rumbling like a dormant volcano ready to erupt. The sickeningly tangy smell of acid hit Oxford's nostrils as Maya-chan blew a kiss at the Assassin, the stream of corrosive liquids squarely hitting its mark.(Geez, hopefully he was fast enough to get out of there before he got hosed...)
His attention focused on the red-haired Enchanter, curled up on the ground in what looked like to be a sitting fetal position. The Assassin was too busy fending off/taking attacks from Maya-chan, and Caer was too busy playing lumberjack to run back in time.
What's worse, Maya-chan seemed to have taken a shine to Capsule, growling as it chomped its spiked-leaf maw.
"Oh, not on my watch, you don't."He stopped his assault on flytrap, dashing as fast as his Agility stat would allow him to to get between the Enchanter and Maya-chan. He made sure he had his [Covering] ability at the ready in case the chlorophyll catastrophe decided it wanted to act pre-emptively.(Oh, I'm sure you'll see me now, Maya-chan.)
He hefted his shield closer to him as he ran, grateful that the [Shield Mastery] skill allowed him a little more speed. |

"Shit!" Was all that was heard from the monk, as the blast of light interrupted his final skill barrage. All he could do was attempt to guard himself from the impending attack. Apparently, hitting Mayahuel with Incarnate Assault was a little too much to ask for. If he had more time, he would have pooled a large sum of mana into an Aura Dragon Punch, but there was nowhere near enough time for that. Instead, all that he could do was brace himself for impact. The blast shot at him. Hard. Hiro withstood a good amount of strain, until finally his legs gave out, and the blast sent him flying towards a tree in the near distance. He managed to angle himself so that his legs would make contact with the trunk, and keep him up in a way. He fell to the ground right below, with a thud. Struggling to get back up, he found himself staring in awe at his health bar. The attack, known to be the most powerful of Mayahuel's attacks...
Wasn't as strong as you would expect. Hiro grinned, at the mere 20% health loss. He was also away from the Miasma Cloud, so as long as he stayed back here, he'd probably have a very good chance of surviving. But, his class didn't really allow for him to stay in the back all that much. It didn't matter, though. Turning up to face the beast, Hiro grinned again. He got back up onto his feet, and brushed off the dirt on his nice dress clothes. "Now that that's over..." Hiro started. "Let me show you a True Attack!" Hiro cupped his hands, and pooled together about 20% into a single shot of Aura Dragon Punch. Letting the mana fuel itself into a charged energy ball, Hiro launched it at the immobile plant monster. He then followed it up, by charging back into the fray. He had good HP. He had some decent armor. He had his fists. He will become the group's HP tank. This was decided as soon as he launched the blast of energy.
Hiro's feet carried him back into the Miasma, but he didn't really care about that. After the blast had collided with the monster, Hiro needed to make sure that he kept the beast's attention on him, and not on the Assassin or Enchanter. Hiro just started punching the beast, as hard as he could, while dodging the Uproots as they came up. He had become a mobile fist machine, with which he intended to keep all the aggro to himself. "Hey, Vagina-Weed!" He cried. "I'm right here! You'd better pay attention to me, you useless pile of dirt!" Hopefully Maya-kouhai Mayahuel would take Hiro's insults to heart, and attack him. If not, then Oxford or Caerbannog could probably shield the others. If it did work, however, then Hiro would give his allies enough room to recover and attack once again. This is seriously gonna hurt... Hiro thought to himself. But, it'll be worth it in the end. The first field boss to be killed... Sounds good enough to me!

Sure, the Miasma Cloud had worked a bit on her health, but using Prana Drain had helped to counteract that, and her Detox skill was fighting off the poison coursing through her body. She pushed herself up off the ground and into a standing position, where she had a better view of the field and chaos before her. Rather than continue to run about like a headless chicken in blind panic, Capsule decided to take a moment to access the situation. As the field monitor, it was her duty to observe the battle field and strategize accordingly.
The others were largely acting on their own intuition, and were doing well so far - the Mayahuel's health bar had taken a sound beating, and was now less than fifty percent full. Her allies were in fairer shape, with only Hiro's health below ninety percent. This was good, since she only had five healing items on her - six if you counted the Regenerating Moon Cake (or less, if Hiro continued to be battered). Next, she gave the surrounding area a brief scan, searching for any other opponents that might try to assault her preoccupied comrades. Although the monsters here were low levelled (albeit the rare level 40+ Brier Weasel), having to deal with them and the field boss would only further complicate things. Other than a few wary rabbits in the healthy undergrowth a ways off, though, there was a lack of potentially hostile monsters.
Reassured that no group of minions would suddenly spring forward, Capsule turned her eyes back to her group and the deadly flower. It had used several attacks so far, the nastiest one being the Solar Beam, followed by the Miasma Cloud, Root Spike, Uproot and...the Acidic Sap that was being sent in Kumori's direction. An attack like that should have been anticipated, since the lesser Nepent Snatchers were known for spitting acid. Aaaaand now it seemed like the "Vagina-weed" as Hiro called it had noticed her. It had yet to send any attacks her way yet, but Capsule could feel its "eyes" resting on her. 'The downfalls of being a higher leveled Enchanter.'
In either case, it was definitely time to move again, before any unpleasant surprises could be sent her way. Caer, Ox and Hiro were busy with attacking and distracting the flower. Capsule tucked her grimoire under one arm as she pulled out her giant squid plush, daring to get within throwing distance of Hiro. If he successfully aggroed the monster anymore, his health would go down even further. She plucked out a single Medicinal Formula, too stingy to depart with her better Medicinal Tablets. "Hiro! Catch!" This was one of those moments were Capsule was glad to have had older brothers; they taught her how to throw. Unless Hiro had poor aim or the plant was wily enough to slap the potion out of the air, the Monk should have no problem catching it.
Her second and last Medicinal Formula was tucked between her teeth, and the squid plush swapped places with her grimoire. Depending on the severity of Kumori's wounds, the potion would be passed off to him. For now, however, Capsule focused on protecting herself. The few pages within her grimoire rustled as she used her Tier 2 spell, Magi Howling, which would buff the power and efficiency of her Tier 1 skills. Gehenna Swarm was called upon next, producing three magic orb that doubled as defense and projectiles. Now that she knew that the flower was not resistant or immune to the Dark element, Capsule felt confident in using it, even if her magic managed to aggro the monster by mistake.
The magical orbs swirled possessively around Capsule, ready to intercept anything malevolent that came her way. She would lose them if the plant lashed out, but Maya would also suffer a 10% reduction in stats for thirty seconds. The Enchanter began backing up, firing off a few Pulse Bullets as she did so. If the flower decided to harass her further, it was going to take Prana Drain to the face.

What was this? He really hated it when killer plants wanted to eat you, this was no exception. He turned around, running backwards so he would have a better time dodging the attacks that were on coming. He dodged the first attack successfully, which was a sharp root that was aimed at his body. The strike had barely missed, grazing his armor. He was glad his armor was built to withstand such attacks, but what he didn’t anticipate was the attempt to grapple him. His reflexes were good, but not good enough to dodge the unexpected roots that came from underground. He had to move the last second, jumping, only to avoid the grapple, but it did trip him. The assassin rolled in order to regain his footing without losing too much speed, and then there was the Acidic Sap that was shot at him right after the attempt to root him. He was glad he wasn’t rooted, but he wasn’t in the clear yet. The sap was a large area of effect spit that would’ve hit dead on if he hadn’t moved quickly. Some of the sap had gotten onto him, and so he was taking damage over time, but the good thing was that he was now out of reach for the normal physical attacks of the Field Boss. Oh, and he was poisoned. Ryuu would take this time to recover a little bit, and wait for his cooldowns to end, but he knew his next strike wouldn’t have assassinate as the cooldown was too long. He would have to use his deadly dance, and he hoped it’d be enough to finish it once and for all. For now, though, he would do the best he could. He was hurt, but he would live, for now.
As he approached Capsule, he wiped the sweat off of his face and sighed a big sigh of relief. “Any chance you could remove the debuffs I have on me?” he asked. She wasn’t a healer, so he wasn’t sure what to expect, but he was hopeful. Regardless of if she could help him or not, he was ready to face Mayabuel one more time, and hopefully the last time. It was almost dead, so he may stay in there for the duration of it.

Oh my oh my Caerbannog-senpai, not so rough~ Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahn~Yeah, that wasn't happening. The AI was PG-13, okay? Don't get any dirty ideas. Mayahuel certainly did feel the hurt from the quick flurry of Samurai moves, but it didn't attack @dindeen. Not just yet. From Zantetsuken to Fuurinkazan, the Samurai's skills cut straight into Mayahuel's life over and over, causing that little sliver of remaining health to drop quickly. The giant plant managed to get off a Miasma Cloud once more, having noted internally that the duration of its last one was starting to reach its end. @0x1dea was correct in saying that Mayahuel couldn't be uprooted so easily. Barring a skill as cruel to the plant as a Sorcerer's Magical Disjunction, Mayahuel was staying just where it was. Oxford's valiant attempt to cover Capsule might have been useful if the creature wasn't mostly using attacks that rose up from the ground and did area damage, but at the very least, the Enchanter wouldn't be assaulted by something like Acid Spit. Oxford had said he was a kouhai himself, so if he wanted his senpai to notice him so badly, maybe Mayahuel-chan would oblige? Despite its many resistances and high powered attacks, Mayahuel was taking quite a beating from... just Caerbannog and Hirosame? Oxford was lucky to have such dependable senpais ( ♥ ), since it looked like Capsule launched a small sprinkle of attacks and Kumori didn't do much of anything in terms of an assault. They really were lucky to have such dependable senpais, as Mayahuel flailed about like crazy, little roots coming up to lash out at anyone nearby. Yabouzan triggered cleanly for the Samurai, looking like the final cut into the life of the creature. Roots screeched against roots and a shrill sound echoed out from the very ground itself as the plant shook and shook, releasing a giant spew of Acidic Sap in every direction possible, desperately hoping to get at least one of her precious senpais. Or Oxford. Whether she succeeded or not, the plant seemed to slump to the ground and wither, its green skin taking a red, ashy tone. Its distinctive mouth closed quietly as a small light began to glow within the mouth itself, and from there, it did nothing. ... Had it really been that easy? {Collect Your Rewards!} As if. The screeching sound of roots through the ground came forth once more, a mere five seconds after Mayahuel-chan had 'fallen'. That green skin that it had had turned red and ashy, cracking and falling off as it quickly rose and let out a screech of hatred. Senpai, why won't you love me?!
LOVE ME, SENPAI. The group had been somewhat lucky that two of their tanks were so determined to push the thing straight into the grave, as the extra damage from Caerbannog's Yabouzan plus the fire of Fuurinkazan's aura and Hiro's repeated smashing had at least dropped its health a little. This was a boss fight though. A field boss. As if it'd be easy. And the AI had more than a few cheap tricks up its sleeve. If her dear senpais had been paying attention when she had 'died', they would have noticed dear old Mayahuel-chan's mouth had been glowing when it had been closed. Who turned their back on a dear kouhai, after all~? Well, when it opened now, it was because of a fully powered Solar Beam prepped. The other thing about its 'revival' was that it reset the aggro of the creature between all those present. The dice rolled and the one it chose was... Oxford. Her one and only kouhai that so dearly wanted senpai's attention was going to get a rather lovely Solar Beam to the face. If kouhai wasn't paying attention, it'd suffer from a rather unfair usage of Uproot. So much love everywhere! Of course, the miasma was still around. Field Bosses don't go down that easily, my dear senpais~

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Kabutowari (C1) | Mawarufuusen (C2) | Iaido (Passive) With time going against them due to the presence of Miasma Cloud, Caerbannog focused on chaining her skills to get some hits in. Fortunately, Maya-chwan’s guard was down long enough for her fourth ace move Yabouzan to go through. At first it seemed that the fight was over, but was it really? The samurai knew that field bosses were not that easy to kill off, especially field bosses which had specific spawn times. In her MMORPG experience, field bosses which spawned at a specific time or after a predetermined period since the last death and remained on that spot until killed off had high HP but were not too complicated to fight against. The field bosses which had specific spawn times, like Maledict Mayahuel who would only appear in the field for an hour, were much difficult to deal with, had special combos or generally just had an insane amount of HP. The specific times were designated to make sure that players who stepped into the zone for some other quests or tasks would not get killed on sight by the field boss; that is, they could just avoid the boss’ spawn time.
Maledict Mayahuel, being a field boss with specific spawn time, was understandably OP. With a whole raid they could have taken it down, but a party of five was hardly a raid. The samurai had to be both tank and DPS, but her role as tank was still the priority. Sure, Oxford was also a tank but Solar Beam to the face was hardly good for anyone. So while Maya-chwan was focused on gathering power for the attack towards the guardian, Caerbannog turned around to build up another chain. She sheathed her nagamaki and dashed towards the field boss then threw [Kabutowari] with [Iaido] as passive at its head, or whatever part she could reach. She then backed off to a side away from the other adventurers and chained [Mawarufuusen]. Although the pussy plant was immobile, the samurai hoped that the wind generated by the ace move could at least make the thing rear its ugly head away from the others and towards her instead. While Mawarufuusen as being used, she expected that the other would jump in to unleash their own attacks at the boss.
Maya-chwan, please forgive your sempai...

Status: SENPAIIIIII~
Weapon: Antiqua Longsword (1H) | Armor: Antiqua Plate Armor |
Skills: Shield Mastery (Passive) | Resilience (Passive) | Lots 'n lots of Aura Sabers |
Oxford slowed down as a fresh Miasma Cloud rolled over the party, coughing as he stopped to turn back to see the now red pussy weed crashing into the ground.
(Was it really that easy?)
Of course not. This was boss-level monster. They don't just go around slapping 'field boss' on every single monster in the game, do they? No, this was a monster that had earned it's in-game title, went through the painful monster interviewing process to come out as one of the top dogs (top photosynthesizng dogs, that is). No way this vagina-mouthed weed was gonna topple over like Jenga tower hit by a wrecking ball.
Keeping this in mind, he looked around to see how everyone else was faring. Aside from the small drain of HP due to the purple mist that clouded the area, they all seemed to be OK. Aside from Kumori, who was bearing evidence of Maya-chan's love on his clothes and armor.
(Something tells me that washing it later is gonna be easier said than done.)
As he turned to see how the Samurai was doing, he thought he saw a faint light emanating from the creature's maw. If the fight was indeed over, then the place for the loot to fall was in the worst place possible.
"Why did they decide to put the quest rewards in the creature's mouth?"
Not lowering his shield, Oxford approached the creature slowly, making sure it didn't make any sudden movements. To the Guardian's dismay, it did, screaming and flailing about like a banshee as it rose up, a bright angry red. Kind of like how his younger brother acted back in the real world when he snuck hot sauce into his food once.
Caer had already rushed in to begin another chain on the creature, Oxford drawing his sword to get ready to launch his own offensive.
That is, until he noticed that Maya-senpai had finally decided to acknowledge the Guardian's presence. Maya-chan's maw opened, the light gathering inside to purge Oxford like a priest throwing stinging holy water.
"FFFFFFFU-"
He managed to bring up his shield for the brunt of the blast, but he didn't have time to brace himself for the impact. The blast emitted from the beast sent Oxford flying, chipping a bit of the Guardian's HP. He drew his sword after picking himself up, using it as a stand to lean on as he recovered from Maya-chan's display of affection.
"Glad you think so highly of me."
The beast roared, almost as if replying to his statement.
"Then allow me to respond in kind."
