And thus Vee found herself hidden neatly behind a large boulder, wooden staff hugged closely to her chest and keen eyes observing a short, hunched figure over on the other side of the stone. A breeze wafted by the small swamp, one that couldn't resist playing with the purple tresses which rolled off the Enchantress' shoulders in multiple waves. Everyone had to love the way MMORPGs always provided their gamers with the most aesthetically pleasing character designs. God be damned if anyone in this world was seen as anything short of beautiful, if not "badass". Animal-themed toons, dwarves, half-alvs, everyone was pleasing to the eye. Bringing her fingers up to the side of her face, Vee tucked away the stray strands of hair behind her ear all the while not once taking her violet gaze off of her prey. On the other side of the rock was a weak goblin scout, the straggler of a small goblin mob that was actively vulnerable to whatever spell the level one enchanter decided to cast on it. It was evident that there was a camp within the vicinity, but seeking that out was the last thing on Vee's mind. She'd pay heed to her surroundings but not venture any further into the swamp than its shallow bank. Her current goal was solely on the goblin scout sleeping a few meters away with its head lolling to the side and its knees on the muddy floor. With a flick of her wrist the young woman drew her menu and scrolled through the various tabs of friends and items, her fingers drawing inexistent lines into the air ahead of her. Nothing. With an inventory completely empty besides her starter equipment, that option was useless. Every now and then she'd press the "log out" option only to be greeted by a familiar prohibition sign. There was always the slight hope that perhaps the option would work one day if she continued to press it. But this time was no different from all the others and she let out a soft 'tch'. "Merde…" she muttered past pursed lips and unhappy expressions. Of all the characters she had to be stuck in, it had to be this one - the one she had designed right as the new expansion came out.A shuffle of movement caught her eye and her attention snapped back to her target. The small goblin had begun showing signs of awakening, its green head moving back and forth in an attempt to shake the drowsiness from its psyche. The moment the little gremlin made a motion to rise from its knees, Vee waved her hand and uttered two simple words, "Astra Hypno." On command a small haze surrounded her target's head and effortlessly lulled it back to sleep, the poor soul once again fell to its knees in a drowsy stupor. The enchantress sighed. For now this was all she could do without putting herself at risk of being killed. If worse came to worst she could always run from the accidentally aggro'ed mob. Safety was not far so she had little worry about genuine peril as long as she stayed smart about her actions. Until then, or until she found another party to join, all "training" she'd be capable of would be growing accustomed to casting her class skills without the use of hotkeys. The way words flowed through her mouth and her movements seem to act on their own accord, it all needed some adjustment from what she felt was the norm. At least if there were any perks to being a one trick pony, it would be the fact that she only had one skill to practice. Wash, rinse, repeat. And that was exactly what she was doing until Astra Hypno became second nature. Wash, rinse, repeat.{Spoiler}Word count: 814 Player tags: Capsule[/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul]

Capsule was out and about, with a single Lander quest weighing on her mind. It was a pretty simple one, and may have been better suited for lower levels or even someone who held the Courier subclass, as she once had. The quest was advertised as a fetch quest, which goblins being her targeted… audience? Victims? Her goal was to basically mug a bunch of goblins that had the audacity to rob a merchant's cart that frequented these roads. The goblins allegedly wore colored scarves, so they were the ones she would be looking for. For this, however, she had to head out to the Northern Marshlands of Thames. That place brought back some unpleasant memories, ones she would rather not dwell on. It was also overrun with crocodiles, which she was less wary of. Besides Fiver, her Frenmic Rabbit, she had a tamed Golem Sentinel to protect her in times of duress. Speaking of Fiver…
The rabbit glanced up at Capsule from his position on the ground. Could he understand how she was filling? She had not had her Tongue of Nature skill back then, but even without the means of direct communication, Fiver should remember that day and her odd behavior. The silly little rabbit even tried smacking around a player that was a few levels higher to defend her, though his attacks could at most only deal psychological damage. Being thrashed around by a rabbit was damming to many a street cred.
She reflexively touched the blood red flower bud tucked into her hair. To many people, it was a harmless little bud, but Capsule knew better, which was why she always made sure to never leave home without it. The bud gave her the ability to use a spell that could transform it into a miniature Maledict Mayahuel, and spread poison everywhere for thirty seconds. Provided the monster was not immune to poison, it could be quite the aid during an impromptu fight. A tiny tentacle snaked out and wrapped itself around Capsule's finger. Chibi Maya-chan was apparently awake and aware, but did not go into her usual malice tinged tirades. Capsule attributed this silence to the fact that they had just stepped into the marshlands, an area unfamiliar to the little bud. She was too used to city and forest life.
Before being stuck in this world, Capsule was the same, albeit she had never stepped foot outside of Dresden, though her brothers traveled around Germany fairly often, and two of them even left the country on more than one occasion. Video games and novels were her main forms of escape for this reason; she could spend hours in a game doing nothing more than exploring, and enjoyed playing truck simulators that had her driving around and delivering cargo. Picking Courier as a subclass supplemented that, though as it turns out she found greater joy in Animal Trainer. Life was funny.
While walking, her expression shifted from melancholic to one of quiet reflection, and would have stayed that way, had it not been for the uncomfortable sensation of her boots being stuck. Bluh. Mud. Capsule made a very inelegant face as she tried to pull one foot free. She succeeded, but needed to place her foot back down to provide stability so that the other could be freed. ...This was why she did not frequent this area. She didn't mind a little mud, but… Fiver cocked his head to the side as he watched his mistress flail about. There was no use in summoning Dobby, who would literally sink like a stone out here.
With a little help from a low hanging branch, however, Capsule was able to pull herself free and out of what may have been quick sand. Fiver followed after her, chuckling quietly to himself. He stopped after receiving a face full of mud slung from her boot. Fiver, blinded by mud, went streaking off into the swamp. The rabbit was shaking his head from side to side, in an attempt to dislodge the mud clinging to his face. "Ah! Fiver, wait!"
"Just leave him," the young voice of her little flower bud cooed into her ear. "Stupid little cabbage muncher will finally get what's coming to him." Soft, venomous laughter tickled Capsule's ear drums.
Yeah, no dice. Fiver was her little pal, and was always there for her when things went rough. She protected him as best as she could, and was not going to stop doing so now. Keeping to the drier patches of swampland, she darted after the Frenmic Rabbit. Fiver jumped wildly to the side and into a small, humanoid creature kneeling on the ground. It was some kind of goblin, and was fast asleep until Fiver happened. Capsule skidded to a stop, grimoire and kukri at the ready.
The goblin lifted its head and gazed about with tired eyes. It was only a Weak Goblin Scout; these little guys were cowards by heart, and more likely to run when things weren't going their way, unless their superiors were near enough to issue orders. Around the goblin's neck was a dirty red handkerchief. "Looks like I get to kill two birds with one stone…" Before the goblin could attack or scurry off, she kicked it over and firmly planted a foot on its scrawny little back. She seized Fiver and lifted him into the air, and without paying the goblin further attention, began cleaning the rabbit's face. What was there to fear from a lowly little goblin?

"What the…"The slender female removed herself from behind the rock in time to see a red-haired female rush in and promptly pin the goblin down with the sole of her shoe. A user bar flickered into existence above the stranger's head, announcing Capsule's username as well as class, HP, MP, and level to the shorter female. Just from that harmless kick alone, the HP of the level two goblin was depleted to dangerously red levels. With the sudden intrusion and flurry of movement happening all at once, it came as no surprise that this stranger passed Vee without even knowing she was there, her attention focused elsewhere. The entire ordeal might have actually been almost a little cool if it wasn't for the fact that both women inadvertently targeted the same mangy goblin. By now the creature had begun wailing out all sorts of inhuman sounds and clawed at Capsule's foot in hopes of being released, but was abruptly cut short by a stomp to the face from the butt of Vee's staff. That jab was enough to send the already weakened goblin into the Elder Tale netherworld in a flurry of flickering pixels. Although the purple haired enchantress was the one to deal the finishing blow to the enemy, Capsule was likely the one to take the credit and experience from the kill purely because she was the player who had dealt 90% of the damage. At this point in the game Vee did not feel up to running away from an entire mob of angry goblins due to the distress call of one. She preferred to quickly be rid of it before it drew its follow comrades to its location. She's much rather take them out one by one since that was far more within her current capabilities.
Crouching down near the position where the goblin disintegrated, Vee swept aside the dropped loot and traced her finger along the edge of the fallen handkerchief. This looked like the same description as what one of the Landers told her when requesting that someone "take care" of the thieving gremlin. Vee couldn't help but wonder why the punishment for stealing from merchant carts was to be mugged, since those rules seemed rather archaic. But once again she would have to remind herself that none of this was out of the norm for this new world.
Without taking any of the useless junks the goblin dropped, she stood up to meet the eyes of the taller redhead who had already begun tending to her pet. The bodies of the two females couldn't have been any different. One was tall the other was short. One had long hair while the other didn't. Clara found it almost comical in a way that this Capsule character looked more like her than Vee did. The one physical thing that the young woman did miss about her previous life before Elder Tale was her height. Out in reality she was 5'8", but in this game, she was now 5'3". It was quite the embarrassing situation when she was still getting used to her new height and would constantly misstep, or attempt to reach something on a shelf and fall dreadfully...short...of her goal. Clara could now understand why certain individuals always wished they were taller."Euh, I hope you do not mind. I apologize for stealing the kill. Fighting a mob is a pain with the camp so near, tu vois?" Vee tried to explain with a smile, her voice just as lighthearted as her grin. A french accident dripped off the drawls of each of her words as she apologized to the her fellow enchanter for the kill. With that she nodded and took a step back just in case the redhead was one of those kinds who needed a lot of space in-between them any anyone else. Unfortunately Vee had already had the luxury of meeting those folks back when living in this world was a new instillation. Violet eyes wandered down from the stranger's face to the face of the fluffy creature in her hands, hoping he was not hurt."Were you sent on a Lander's quest here?"

Tongue of Nature was toggled on, as usual, so she could hear what the goblin was saying with… well, it would have been "clarity," but the goblin had found itself with its face in the mud, so a lot of its speech was garbled. "Ye stoopid betch! Gerrouffa meh! Yer keelling meeh! Ow ow ow so'one halp! Ptchoo! Blank Eye! Two Toe!" The rest of the goblin's speech became unidentifiable as its mouth refilled with mud. If Capsule cared that it was calling for its equally weak and pathetic allies, she would have snuffed its life out then and there. Instead, she continued to scoop bits of mud from Fiver's eyes. The rabbit whimpered and held still while she continued her ministrations. "Haaalp… Who da feck are ye? Wha' do ya-" Now that was cause for concern.
Capsule whirled around, ignoring the soft gasp of pain that came from beneath her heel. There was a short, purple headed woman approaching her, though the purplette's (U.V.'s) interest was trained on the goblin. The goblin thrashed around more in a blind panic. "Noh noh noooh! Get away from meeeeh-" The goblin's cries died down as the woman drove the butt end of her staff into its vulnerable body, which was reduced to a smattering of bubbles and items. The boot that was used to pin him down lowered a few inches to the ground. Well then.
She watched on in curiosity as the shorter woman (who was at least an inch taller than Capsule's actual height of 5'2) rummaged through the goblin's belongings. With all the tall characters in this game, it was almost refreshing to see someone who was short. She was still glad to have adjusted her avatar's height to a desired one, though. It would be amusing if this woman had gone along a similar path, or actually stuck to her real height.
"Eh?" She shook her head at U.V., who she now felt compelled to call "Ray." "I don't mind it at all. These mobs are so low levelled, I would only get a sliver of exp, if at all. You could use it more than I." She shifted her eyes to the purplette's limited user info. The main class level there was very telling. It was a little rude to compare levels like that, but subtlety was not exactly her forte. Speaking of French… she had no idea what "tu vois" meant, but it was likely something harmless. A Frenchwoman (?) fighting goblins? Now that was a good one.
She kept those comments to herself, of course. She was not as brash and overbearing as her father, and certainly did not want to share his prejudices. "Yes, I have taken said quest. I don't really need it, though it is good to get out and explore more. Harassing goblins gives me that opportunity." It also gave her something to do in her spare time. "We could do the quest together, if you don't mind…? It's easier and efficient that way, so that we don't have to wait for respawns or whatever. And if you're worried about me leeching exp, I can synch my levels down to ten." Any lower, and she would be unable to use any of her current equips. She did not mind temporarily losing access to her tier two skills, though; they were far too much to waste on a bunch of cowardly little goblins.
Fiver, who had remained silent up to this point, sputtered and pawed at the air. She patted him on the head and set him down on the ground. "This little guy is named Fiver, by the way." The Frenmic Rabbit squinted up at Ray for a moment, and then raised two paws to groom his face. His mistress could only clean up so much, after all.
"Let's see… How does this go?" This was her first time messing with the mentor system. It was not that often that she hung around with low levels like this. The last time was when… It was something to do with her Animal Trainer subclass. How long ago had that been? "Oh, here it is!" Her eyes widened for a moment as her body gave a gentle tingle, and narrowed as she watched the number fifty six convert to a ten. 'So weird.' She sent a timid party request afterwards. If Ray decided to refuse, she may even continue the quest at this level. The differences would be amusing to see, at any rate.

"Hn~ I see you are not delicate with your words," Vee replied, referring to the blatant comment about their vast difference in levels. She was only kidding of course, and took no offense to the stranger's words, which evidently were horribly truthful. Had it been anyone else, the comment might have been found offending or even rude. But Vee wasn't the type to get upset over such minute things. She knew she needed all the help she could get when it came to leveling. Her eyes lingered on the red head for a moment longer before eliminating the chance of an awkward silence by making a continuing comment. "But what you say is true," she added with a nod, "and…I can use the assistance." Vee's tone trailed off at her last few words in an almost sheepish way. Real life or Elder Tale life, it was always hard to ask someone for help and hope that they had a sliver of kindness somewhere at the bottom of their heart. Everyone had to start from square one at least once in their MMORPG'ing career, so it could safely be assumed that everyone also had that lingering memory of what it was like being completely new to a world. This was why when the red haired stranger continued talking and eventually offered a hand of assistance, Vee couldn't help but allow a wide -and grateful- grin spread across her lips. The idea of "harassing" goblins had a much nicer ring to it than "mugging" them. In truth the shorter woman found the smaller of the goblins just shy of cute. She'd almost feel bad having to hunt them, that is, until they were cornered and opened that mouth of theirs for an incoming slew of insults and vulgarity. After that she usually had no qualms about sending the little buggers to the pixelated afterlife."I would love to do the quest together. The more the merrier," she agreed, voice humming with enthusiasm. Unlike a couple people she had previously met online, Vee was a social individual. Not to call her social butterfly, as she completely understood and appreciated the concept of alone time, but games like these were always a lot more fun when played with friends or at least acquaintances. What was that saying again? There was more power in numbers? The petite female watched Cap set down Fiver and she gave the animal a slight wave and kneeled down beside it. "This little guy is Fiver by the way."If the creature allowed her to, she'd stroke its head, appreciating the fluffy fur. She always did have a soft spot for cute things. "I did not know we could do that. As you can see, I'm new to this game. Started a character with the new Pioneer Expansion," she said as she watched her new companion -if she could even call her that- start fiddling with level altering controls. Obviously Vee was new to the world so there were still quite a lot of things she had to learn. With the two characters' huge level gap, she wasn't worried about experience points being leeched so much as her concern for Capsule getting bored with the low level goblin hunting. Nobody enjoyed senseless mob grinding. And there was only so much that extra company could do before even that became unbearable. A notification flickered up on the enchantress' menu and she began swiping through the options. Who was to be party leader, how loot and rewards were split between the party, or how party rolls were designated, she left all of those specific details to the redhead. This was going to be the first time she had ever entered a group in Elder Tales, so she had no idea of what some of the unofficial "group ediquitte" were here. Accepting the party request, the young woman blinked and shook her head after realizing how rude she must have been. Here a stranger was offering to party-up, even lowering her level, and she had yet to introduce herself to them. Vee smoothly stood up and held out her right hand to her new acquaintance. The other held the starter staff casually against her shoulder."My name is U.V. but you can call me 'Vee' if you like. Most people prefer the latter."Off in the distance some scouts from the adjacent goblin camp (Blank Eye and Two Toe) were beginning to notice that their third small companion was missing in action. In fear of calling upon the anger of their camp leader, the two of them began to meander their way towards the area where they last saw their deceased friend. Luckily the two of them were still quite a ways off and out of aggro distance from the pair of adventurers, though if given enough time they would eventually find their way over to Vee and Capsule's location.

The rabbit did not mind female contact, but could get huffy around males. Capsule just chocked it up to territorial issues. The rabbit sat patiently still, only shifting when he sensed some tension from his owner. Something the woman said struck Capsule as odd and incredibly interesting. "Did you just say you were new to this game?" This was the first time she'd ran into someone who claimed this, though there was the chance she was having her leg pulled. "I think it is safe to say that anyone here used the Novasphere Pioneers expansion. Nothing like this occurred with the previous expansions or servers - at least, not that I know of. I would think someone would notice if a bunch of gamers went missing, ne?" Someone was bound to put the pieces together, though the only question was "how soon"?
That may not be the case, however, if someone like Ray was able to enter the game unawares. Questions flooded Capsule's mind. If the game was still accessible, did that mean people did not believe that previous players went missing or fell into coma like states after installing the expansion, or was time on the outside much slower than in the game? What if a month in game was only a week in the real world? The boulder nearby would be perfect for shoving Ray into and pinning her down until she answered the tide of questions Capsule had for her, but would also freak the girl out. There would be time enough for questions, and she would think of a nonthreatening way to get what she wanted.
"And I'm Capsule… Is it okay if I call you 'Ray'? As in ultraviolet ray?" It was a little too soon to start throwing out nicknames, but it was oh so tempting. "Or not. Vee. Never mind." She hadn't even asked Caerbannog before silently nicknaming her "Caer Bear," and slipped up once and called her that to her face. 'You were both half asleep then, so it doesn't really matter-'
Capsule's head whipped to the side as something hard and moist struck her cheek. "Ugh. What…?" What the hell was that? She glanced over at Vee in confusion, expecting to see the other woman's hands dirty with mud and swamp water, but that was not the case. So if not Vee, who - "BLUH!" A second ball of mud bounced off her shoulder, this time from somewhere off to the side. Okay, whoever this kid or kids were, they were going to get a stern talking to. With her boots.
"Goblins," Fiver called out. The rabbit hopped to the side and reared up on his hind legs, aiming one forepaw at the two, small figures a good feet away. The little Weak Goblin Scouts jeered as they bounced rocks and clots of mud in their palms. Fiver growled and thumped his paws against the ground. "Come over and say it to our face, you stinking pile of hraka!"
The goblins merely pointed and laughed. One of them bent the other over and performed a series of lewd pelvic thrusts, while the other jabbed its little fingers at Capsule and Vee, and then towards it and its mate. Capsule's eye twitched. "Goblins are so damn rude." Rude and cowardly, for they seemed wary of coming too close to the Enchanters and rabbit. And now she was sure that one of them was doing that dance called "twerking". What were they going to do if the women charged? Forget about their dead friend and run off?
"I'll go knock them flat on their rumps. That'll show 'em!" Fiver started to bolt, but stopped when Capsule commanded him to stay. The goblins had ceased their tomfoolery for a moment to scoot back a bit. They obviously weren't looking for a fight.
"If you scare them off, we'll just have to chase after them, and they may lead us into a trap." Freaking goblins. They were too weak to do much on their own, so they had to fight in groups or use the environment to their advantage. That, and she really did not fancy the idea of running around the swamp in cloth boots. That was just… Bluh. She also wanted to do this without waking up Shrek every damn monster out here. "...Vee, what spells do you have in your arsenal? If we can just knock them out or freeze them in place, this would make things much easier. I can disable one with Astral Bind, use Astral Torment on the other, and disorient them both with Mind Shock." She almost wished that she had picked up Astral Hypno, too, but she had researched sleeping potions to make up for it. Depending on what Vee had or how she responded, Capsule would adjust her strategy accordingly.

"Cap~sule," she repeated, the name rolling off her tongue in a foreign way as she took note of the phonetics, "enchantée.*" She would make an extra effort to remember this name, as "Capsule" was the first person here who offered to help her with a quest. It would be rude to completely disregard her actions. And plus, she had a cute rabbit."I do not mind the name Ray. It will help me remember you, actually. Since you would be the only person to call me this. I think I prefer it."Vee waited for a return handshake but was abruptly cut short by a flying swamp-ball to Cap's face. She quickly withdrew her hand and ducked out of pure reflex. What the hell was that? The young woman furrowed her brow and turned her head from side to side in an attempt to catch sight of the perpetrator. At first she didn't see anything until her eyes fell to Fiver who had his senses pinned to two more nasty scouter goblins off in the distance. She quickly followed his gaze then shifted her attention back to Cap to notify her of the other monsters. Of course, once she did so, and before she could say anything, she saw that her acquaintance was giving her an accusatory stink-eye. Wait, really? Did the redhead think that she was the one throwing these piles of crap?"C'était pas moi*! It wasn't me!" she called out in her defense, and shortly after evaded yet another flying ball of swamp mud, which was this time aimed at her own head. While Vee's immediate reflexes allowed her to bend out of the main mud-ball's path, it still did not prevent some of its flying excess to splatter in small sprinkles across her face. All at once time seemed to slow. At least, it slowed in the Enchantress' eyes. The moment the swamp mud got on her face, she knew those little goblins had to die. "Bleh!" With a forced spit, Vee expelled some of the slime from her mouth in disgust and wiped her cheek with the back of her hand in a very inelegant way. Even Vee couldn't be a proper lady all the time. To say that the purpled haired female lost her cheerful demeanor would have been an understatement. In fact, the air around her had completely changed from light eagerness to that of an obvious annoyance. The vulgar and rude dancing performed by the goblin scouts did not make their death sentence any better either. Plucking her staff up from out of the ground, the courtesan moved into place and stood besides Capsule. Her fingers casually rolled along the edge of the staff. Both women seemed to have one thing on their mind: that these goblins weren't going to be experiencing anything pleasant until their next regenerated lifetime."I take back everything I thought about them earlier," she muttered more to herself than anyone else. If she originally thought those things were cute, she was definitely taking it all back now. Vee listened to Capsule's words and was able to piece together what the taller woman was saying. Since she was new, she did not have the chance to memorize all of the Enchanter Class' spells by name and exact effects. She was however, able to guess what each one did through reference clues in the names. "I have Astral Hypno," she answered back while continuing to stare down the two gremlins. The pair of monsters had assumed that both Enchanters were not going to fight back and continued their bouts of Miley Cyrus imitations. They both weren't paying attention to the adventurers at all. A mistake on their part."If they are as cowardly as they sound, then they will run the moment we take action, no?" She slowly moved her staff so it was at a tilt directly in front of her. "I can put the bent-over one to sleep to prevent him from leaving. In surprise, the other will flee. Catch him with a binding spell? Then we can decide what to do with them."If her companion indeed decided to go with this plan, Vee would initiate the engagement by waving her staff and begin the Astra Hypno spell. If not, then well, she'd try to follow-up with whatever she was capable of.-------------------- *Nice to meet you. *It wasn't me!{Spoiler}Word count: 764 Player tags: CapsuleOOC: Your move! The grin Capsule gave Vee, or Ray as she was allowed to call her, was a lopsided and mischievous one. "That's one of the few I'm lacking, and works perfectly well in this situation." Now that she knew what Ray was capable of, she felt confident in guiding the other woman. Or not - it seemed that her fellow Enchanter already had a few tricks up her sleeve. "Yeah, that works. Just leave the rest to Fiver and me." She nodded at the other woman in agreement as she fetched her grimoire, the aptly named Watership Down, from her inventory. Her kukri remained sheathed at her waist, where it would only be freed when close combat became necessary.
The little goblin grinding his tush into his sneering companion suddenly went limp when Ray's spell caught it unawares. It was Capsule's turn to sneer as the still standing goblin looked down in confusion at his now dozing mate. The goblin's greenish face was a shade lighter when he looked up, and his jaw was trembling for forgotten words. He knew exactly what fate had in store for him, but before he could escape the messengers of death, magical chains materialized and latched onto his limbs, locking him in place for the next few seconds. "Now!"
While the trapped goblin panicked and unleashed a series of vulgar swears, Capsule and Fiver bounded forward. The mud and muck be damned. This run was shorter and easier than chasing the pair of goblins up and down the swamp, and Capsule only got a little bit of mud caked to the bottoms of her already caked boots. It was goblin booping time, and Fiver reached the Astral bound one before she did. She left the sleeping one to Ray, though would intervene if it woke up and tried to intervene. For now, her target was the immobilized foe that Fiver had cartwheeled into. "OI! Back up, ye hear?! I've got a weapon, and I ain't afraid to use it - AAAAAH! MY HAND! GERROUF! GERROUF, YOU WILD BEASTIE!"
Fiver, unimpressed by the broken blade the goblin wielded (which only had a strip of leather for a handle), dug his teeth into the grubby little hand. The rabbit twisted his head from side to side, as if he were trying to pull a stubborn root from out of the ground. The goblin's face was white with pain and terror, and he would have screamed more, had it not been for Capsule roundhouse kicking his small head in. A rotten tooth and a bit of blood went flying into the air. "Gross. It looks like weak goblin scouts aren't afforded dental insurance." The makeshift knife fell from the goblin's hand, and his head veered to the side as his health bar rapidly descended. Capsule was not big on using violence. She normally preferred that others do it for her, like Fiver, but kicking this goblin felt… thrilling.
She gestured for Fiver to move to the side, and pulled her kukri free from its sheath. The chains that bound the goblin in place were now gone, so now was the best time to act. Fiver moved over to the side, towards the other goblin to help Ray if necessary. Capsule grabbed the dirty goblin by the scruff of his neck and stabbed deep into his midsection. An angry red gash formed and spread when the blade was wiggled back and forth. A pair of tiny hands grabbed onto her wrist, and then dissipated into a mass of bubbles. Items - junk, gold, jewelry and a purple bandana were left behind. Capsule disregarded the less interesting junk in favor of the stolen jewelry, gold and bandana. The latter was to be used as a sign of proof of the goblin's death.

ecause Vee's level was so low, her [Astra Hypno] spell unfortunately wore off faster than expected. In haste, the petite woman practiced T-ball with the goblin's body and sent it flying a meter or two away with the use of her trusty staff before it had the chance to reorient itself. It's HP barely depleted a quarter of the way down. As the gobbling tumbled across the waterlogged terrain it somersaulted to a halt and shakily stood back on its feet. It wasn't as scared of Vee as it was Capsule. This one was only a first level while the other was a good level ten. In fact, the creature throughly had it in its mind that he was more than a match for the petite enchantress. He removed a dingy dagger from clothes, if those tattered garments could even be called such, and swung it in front of himself haphazardly while hollering some more profanities from a distance. Vee did not take a moment to hesitate as she quickly moved in and closed the distance between her and her target in little time. If anything about the situation changed and the goblin decided to suddenly run away, that would make things a lot much more difficult. She wanted to incapacitate her enemy now while it still thought it had the upper hand. With her staff she attempted another swing at the monster with her beginner skill [Auto Attack] as she lacked the adequate training needed for the largely preferred manual combat system. But of course her swipe was ill timed and the little goblin danced out of the way and shook its butt at her, all the while jeering more so than trying to legitimately attack back. The enchantress scoffed and spun on her heels to face her target yet again who had attempted to maneuver behind her. It was probably going to throw another mud ball had its actions not been interrupted by a upwards jab to the chin from the head of Vee's staff. The creature squeaked and was lifted a good foot into the air then landed on the floor in a daze, its dagger flying a meter away from either of them. That was when the petite female followed-up with her finishing move. She might have not had enough strength now to whittle down the goblin's HP with blunt melee attacks, but she had her smarts and opted to use her surroundings to her advantage. In this case she used the swamp's muddy floor as her weapon. Before the goblin had a chance to rise back to its feet for a third round of scuffling, she firmly placed a booted food between its shoulders, courtesy of what Capsule had shown her earlier, and pinned the creature on its stomach into the marshy floor. Although she did not weight a large amount, the position which she placed her foot allowed her to use leverage to her advantage and pin the goblin with a solid hold. It struggled and thrashed under her foot, the feeble attempts at freedom only acting as a catalyst for what was about to happen to the small creature sooner or later. In a very unforgiving way she shoved the end of her staff towards the goblin's head and pushed the small cranium into the floor. Was she she was doing brutal and barbaric? Most definitely. But was this also the one thing she could do to "kill" it? Unfortunately, yes.The creature thrashed around even harder after having its oxygen cut-off but those actions gradually came to a slow until it eventually stopped. Right on cue the small body fell into a mass of bubbles, only leaving some gold and junks behind. Unlike Capsule's loot, it seemed that this particular goblin wasn't holding any valuables from the merchant robbery. Vee picked up the small gold coin and pocketed it before walking towards Fiver who had been rushing to her location. She gave him and the other enchanter a wave to let them know she was okay."Hah," she managed to joke while catching her breath, "I could use the exercise. That is for sure." Vee was wiping off some mud that had gotten on her arms during the scuffle when she felt a dull pain on the side of her neck. Reach up she glanced her fingers over where she felt the slight pain originating and flinched. When she brought her hand down her fingertips revealed a small dabble of blood. Apparently at one point during the scuffle the goblin managed to knick her on the neck. Thankfully the cut wasn't anything serious - a surface wound if anything. She figured she'd fix herself up after going back to town."Did the other bugger have what the merchant wanted returned?" she asked Cap as she walked towards the taller woman.

She seemed to have everything under control, yet Fiver still curiously made his way over. Weak goblin scouts were well known for their cowardice, but would also put up quite the fight once they were cornered. It was a good thing that their weapons and levels were laughable to any adventurer worth his (or her) salt, though. Just imagine how embarrassing it would be to get your butt handed to you by a goblin!
Now that Ray was sure to triumph over the pinned goblin, Capsule went back to examining the goblin's possessions. The gold she kept for herself, of course, but the jewelry and the junk remained in her palm. There was a good handful of exotic and expensive looking jewelry in her hand, though it was all tangled up into a ball. It was amazing that the goblin would foolishly carry it around on him - or would he? Perhaps he and his chum were sorting through a cache of goods to call dibs on the pieces they liked, and the death of the first goblin caused him to carelessly pocket whatever was out. Ornately designed rings and exquisite necklaces gently clinked as she poked through them.
It was easy to differentiate the merchant's wares from the goblin junk, which consisted of teeth she suspected were from the local crocodiles (how they managed that, she did not know), knucklebones from hands roughly the size of a child's, a small, shriveled rabbit's paw, and a crudely made ring of gnarled wood. She deposited the goblin junk into the small pouch it came in, and tucked that into one pocket, and the merchant's jewelry into another. There may be more pieces lying around the goblin's shoddily constructed campfire, but first…
Fiver was grooming himself as Ray made her way back over. 'Red rover, red rover, send U.V. right over.' Why was she suddenly thinking of children's games? "He did, but I'm not fully convinced that this is all of it. You know how games like this usually have you rummaging through chests? Well…" Her voice trailed off as she spotted a bit of red amongst the shorter woman's mane of purple hair. This led to her checking Ray's health bar, but the bar was only down by an insignificant amount. The wound was not serious. 'Still…' She offered the fallen goblin's purple handkerchief as a makeshift bandage. "I don't think you have to worry about infections here, but you can still get sick in this world." Something about being a Pharmacist made her feel inclined to offer medical assistance, despite the fact that she lacked any formal training in the field; she only knew from playing this game and living in it.
"We're almost done, but I want to snoop around their camp for a few minutes. I'd hate to miss anything, you know? It doesn’t hurt to be thorough.”
There was a soft snort from below Ray’s height. ”You just want to pilfer what little food or drink they have!” The rabbit wouldn’t be far off. He sat up and began combing his long ears. ”I can smell that awful stench from all the way over here… it’s the roasted carcass of some poor lesser animal – or maybe even a monster, but I doubt that these guys can take out more than a snail. Maybe it’s a bird or somethin’.” He settled back down on his haunches. ”’Sides – if the two go over there right now, you might end up attracting more goblins. You’re so loud and big!”
”Well, do you have any better ideas, Fiver?” She had her hands placed on her hips, and her head turned in an angle her mother adopted when she was scolding someone. Never mind the fact that this made her seem insane to Ray; this was a video game. Having a skill that allowed you to speak to monsters was not beyond the scope of reasonability here.
”Send me to scout out the area for you! That way if I agro anything, I can outrun it and lose it in the marsh. Just look at these strong hind legs!” He thumped one foot down, producing a satisfactory whack. ”I’ll be back faster than you can say ‘fleet of foot’!” The tip of his tail twitched in anticipation.
”Fine. Just be care-“ Before she could finish, the rabbit shot off. ”I’m letting my rabbit check out the area for us,” she explained to Ray. ”He’s small enough that any goblins nearby may miss him, and I don’t think the weaker ones are very smart… They’d probably just think of him as their next meal.” She gave a nervous laugh. Fiver was smarter than any swamp loving goblin. Unlike his common cousins, he could count beyond five.
The brown rabbit blended in well with his surroundings, though not so much that Capsule or anyone with good eyesight could miss him skulking about the small camp. There were a few poorly made tents, which greatly resembled tepees, though if they were occupied, their inhabitants did not stir or awaken during the rabbit’s investigation. She lost sight of Fiver for a few moments, until the tips of his ears materialized over what appeared to be a box much too fancy to be goblin crafted. The rabbit pawed and nipped at it, but was unable to move it. After a few minutes of trying, he abandoned it to return to the two Enchanters. ”So? What did you find?”
Fiver nibbled on a few blades of grass before answering. ”Why are you asking me to reaffirm what your eyes saw? I saw a bunch of tents, heard some light snoring, and found a pretty chest. It was heavy with trinkets and other things you lot like fooling around with. I couldn’t get it open, but I think it’s what you want.”
Capsule translated for Ray’s sake. ”It’s a little risky, but I’m sure we can handle a few more of those goblins if push comes to shove. We just need to grab that chest and haul it out of there before they can notice. As long as we’re quiet…” Their scouts were dead, leaving the camp largely unprotected and vulnerable to surprise attacks. Hell, they could even use Fiver as bait if things started to look bad. ”Fiver… I want you to lead the way. If the goblins wake while we’re in the camp, lure out as many as you can and distract them for us, alright?”
”Leave it to me, Kappa!” Fiver led the small procession, his freshly groomed ears shining faintly in the dim light.

"I agree. If we did not, that would make the mission too easy," Vee mentioned as she looked herself over in case she happened to take notice to any other extraneous wounds. Thankfully there were none besides that small scratch on her neck. She took a seat on a large rock and flicked away a dried scab of mud from her sleeve before glancing up at Cap, who was shuffling for something in her possession. A single brow raised as she watched the redhead finally grab hold of a neckerchief and hand it to her. "Ah, thank you." Vee couldn't help but allow a small smile to crack above the surface of her facial features. Capsule seemed like a caring person, which only proved to show that looks weren't everything. The taller female wasn't nearly as intimidating as she initially or unintentionally made herself seem. She shifted forward to retrieve the cloth then sat back down, lightly dabbing her wound so it would stop bleeding. It did not take long for it to do so seeing as it was small to begin with."I'll be sure to make friends with a Doctor in that case," she said with a grin.
When hearing a snort come from below her, Vee shifted her attention back towards the ground and at Fiver, who was busy combing his ears and talking to Cap. At least, that's what she assumed was happening based on the interactions the two were having with one another. She never once gave any thought to what rabbits sounded like. She always assumed they were either completely silent or occasionally made some sort of squeaking akin to that of a guinea pig. So it did seem as somewhat of an enlightening moment when she heard Cap and Fiver's exchange of…rabbit noises. It was actually kind of funny hearing muffled grunting and low squeaks coming from the taller woman.
While those two were having their exchange of "words" Vee moved a few meters ahead to get a better view of the camp and what was in store for them in the next 20 or so minutes. A number of poorly made tents, piles of garbage and junks, random -presumably- animal bones littering the floor along with mounds of who-knows-what bobbing up and down in the muddy marshlands, it never ceased to amaze the Enchantress that certain species were capable of occupying such areas of squaller. One of the things that did catch her eye among the other various degrees of dross was the ornate chest which was clearly somehow plundered from elsewhere. She briefly observed whatever she could of the camp then returned to Fiver and Cap. The small rabbit was thumping his foot on the floor and looked like he was rearing to get going. It must have been nice having a consistent traveling companion.
Once the little fur ball had scurried off, Vee listened to Cap's translation. All the while her eyes remained on the camp and anything that Fiver could manage to stir-up. "He is faster than us, so if something happens he can escape easier than we would be able to," she acceded, "Though I doubt we would have to worry about traps or other foolery. The goblins do not seem very bright." The only thing those little fools were probably able to coordinate was impromptu choreography, as they have already shown. What Vee was more concerned about however, was the fact that this camp was stationed along the edge of the marsh, right next to the deeper areas of swamp. The level 1 enchantress might have been new to Elder Tale, but even she understood to stray away from the deeper waters. Much larger threats than lowly goblins tended to dwell at those depths.Fiver returned from his scouting expedition and gave the report to Cap, who promptly translated it for the two of them. Vee was both relieved that they would be catching the camp unawares, but also skeptical. If anyone could describe that feeling one gets when they know something was going to go wrong, that was exactly what she was feeling in that moment. Nothing was ever that easy. Catching the enemy with their pants down? Too good to be true. Any gamer would clearly know when a boss was going to make some grand entrance purely by the way the environment was set-up. The two enchantresses would silently make their way over to the edge of camp where there was some sort of temporary cover to hide behind thanks to some reed-like bushes, and crouched low. Some mumbling and shuffling came from the nearest tent to them and out walked another Goblin Scout. It was level 5 from its HUD and clearly still half asleep as it stumbled towards the fire with an unknown piece of meat roasting on the spit. With its back turned to the two adventurers, it flopped down on its butt and began poking the flames with a stick. So far it was only one goblin awake in the camp, which did not call for any kind of alarm…Yet. "I can put that one to sleep," Vee whispered and turned to Cap, "and we can try to sneak by. Though I am not sure how many others are in the tents and if they are all asleep." For all her and Cap knew, there could be a large number of goblins within those tents, only a few of which could be sleeping. Vee had a few ideas as to go about the situation but she was interested in hearing the ideas from the more veteran player.

Beside her, Fiver stiffened and gave Capsule a warning glance. A Weak Goblin Scout had wandered out of his tent to park his rump in front of the fire and roasting slab of meat. Capsule froze and glanced over at Ray, unsure of what to do. The goblin had not spotted the trio yet, which would give the shorter Enchanter ample enough time to put it to sleep. It was a good idea, but… "No. It won't do us much good if it only lasts ten seconds." They might only get so far until the thing woke up again and began shrieking his head off. "We need a more permanent solution…"
Fiver gently butted her in the side. "Whatever you have in mind, can you please make it quick? The longer we wait, the more alert it will become."
The rabbit had a point. 'Things would be so much easier if I could use my tier 2 skills.' She could use Prana Drain, for example, to siphon the goblin's meager health to herself. That was the beauty of such a skill - the minimum of health points it could steal measured in one hundred, and more could be taken as long as contact was not broken. Hell, she could even make good use of Gehenna Swarm in this instance, and just use the dark orbs as projectiles. Surely the goblin could not stand such an assault?
"Capsule!"
"I'm thinking…" She closed her eyes and pressed her fingers to her temple. There probably was not enough time to attempt to tame it, though they were weak to Mind debuffs, like her Astral skills. They were too irritable and cowardly. She could summon up Chibi Maya-chan, the Mayahuel Flower Bud, but the poison would not be enough to immediately KO the goblin. Did she even have potion made poison? 'No; just some burn cream, a mana potion, anti-poison poultice and…' Capsule's eyes lit up as she recalled the one thing that would be beneficial in the situation.
The redhead dug through her inventory for her giant squid plush, where a few potions were stored. She plucked her level ten sleeping potion. Unlike the Astral Hypno skill, this potion could knock an enemy out for a good minute, provided they were not struck. Capsule flashed Ray a mischievous grin as she tied the long tentacles of the squid around her shoulders. "I've been hanging onto this since I researched it, but I finally have a use for it," she whispered. "This will put the goblin out long enough for us to grab the chest - I think." One minute was all they needed to run in, snatch and grab, and run out again. "The perks of being a Pharmacist," she said with a sly wink. Now she just needed to get close enough to throw it. "Follow me when I give the signal." The "signal" was a thumbs up - something short and simple.
"Be careful," Fiver softly called out to her. He hunkered down in the reeds, body poised to run once the signal was given.
"Mmm… Smells so good… Finally a decent meal… Nothing but skin and bones, I am. Rabbie and those other scouts get all the good eatings. Lumpy headed jerks…"
Capsule carefully picked her way towards the camp fire, where the weak scout sat with his back towards her. So these were all Weak Goblin Scouts? Where were the stronger ones? 'Hopefully they're asleep or out hunting.' It would be nice if this camp were erected to help the weaker scouts recuperate. Stronger and faster goblin scouts could cause the Enchanters and rabbit a rougher time.
"I hope they bring back some nice croc meat this time… I'm tired of eating snails and newts - huh?!"
A stray twig crunched under Capsule's foot, just shy of a meter from the goblin. It turned around to gape at her in stupidity, and only blinked when the vial of sleeping potion went sailing through the air. The goblin threw his arms up at the last moment, but could not stop the vial's trajectory. His reflexes were dulled by sleep, and his ability to aim suffered. The goblin slumped to the ground, much like a drunk after a long night of drinking.
Capsule’s thumb went up a second later, followed by some frantic waving. Perhaps it was only her imagination, but she could hear, very faintly, the sound of rousing (and bad) singing. If these were the superior Goblin Scouts, she did not want to wait around to hear them or give them time to wake the still sleeping goblins. ”Hurry,” she hissed. ”They’ll be upon us in a matter of minutes.” Fiver nudged at Ray to move, but stationed himself near the edge of camp, where the procession of goblins was sure to appear. His mistress was already making her way to a pair of tents, somewhat fancier than the others, where the chest sat betwixt. Capsule could hear nothing from either tent, but that did not mean they were unoccupied; the (possible) goblins inside could just be light sleepers for all they knew.
”Help me get this chest up.” It was made from clay and even more ornate at this range, and had a pair of elegantly carved handles on either side. Something about it screamed heavy, which would be mildly concerning if one of them needed their hands free to fight off the arrival of hungry and battle worn Goblin Scouts. These weren’t the sickly bunch; they would be able to put up a rather decent fight.

ee had totally forgotten that the length of the Astra Hypo skill was so short. She supposed that lack of detailed knowledge came married with the fact that she was new to the game. The female peeked around the reeds as her fellow enchantress mulled over strategies and thoughts of how the two of them should approach the camp. Vee could almost see the wheels turning in Cap's head at the point, but remained silent as to not disturb her thought process. At this point it seemed better to let the veteran lead the approach since she probably knew what to do more so than a newbie. The enchantress was about to say something but was immediately silenced when Cap began shuffling for something hidden within a squid plush. Yes, it was a squid plush and all it's glory that now hung from the redhead's shoulders. Vee almost wanted to laugh, but knew that doing so would only give away their position. Instead she flashed her companion a bemused grin and exhaled though her nose. This woman never ceased to surprise her.The purple-haired female once again glanced around the reeds as her gaze fell upon the lolling figure of the one exposed goblin. He was apparently muttering and saying something to himself, so there was no worry about him being immediately alerted to the two women's location. When she looked back after Cap addressed her, she saw the small potion vial revealed within her new friend's hands. It must have been some sort of a sleeping potion based off of what was described about it. She nodded her head and strapped her staff diagonally across her back like how she usually traveled with it - easily accessible yet out of the way to avoid cumbersome movement. If she was going to quickly sneak around camp and help move a chest that looked like quite the load, she was going to need both her hands."Okay, I will wait for the signal," she replied and returned Cap's motion with a thumbs-up of her own to clarify that both of them were on the same page. She crouched low and hunkered down next to Fiver who without a doubt remained alert to everything and anything that the two enchantress' couldn't hear on their own. Watching the red head dodge and scurry around camp was similar to one of those sniper video games where the gamer needed to "cover" a teammate from enemy forces. But this time Vee didn't have a gun nor was this a game. The Ritual's fingers twitched upon reflex as the potion was thrown and its aim true. A minute shatter could be heard, which thankfully didn't attract attention, and the goblin crippled to the floor.
On cue, Vee left her hiding place and approached Cap with all the speed and stealth she could muster. Taking one of the chest's handles on one side the young woman attempted to lift it in order to test the weight. With a half-hearted tug, the thing barely moved, which was not a good sign. Unless the other enchantress was some secret juggernaut and had a crazy amount of strength hiding within those guns of hers, they were definitely going to have a hard time moving the entire thing without being noticed. Perhaps they might have a chance of hiding the chest, luring the enemies away, then returning for it later, but running away with the chest was a definite and unfortunate no-go unless Cap had another plan.
With the two adventurers using combined efforts, they were able to lift the chest and attempt to shuffle it off towards the side of the camp. They would only be able to go so far though before the squad of higher level goblins meandered their way back to home base in joyful song. The goblins must have been much closer than they sounded, as the two enchantresses were still barely along the outer lining of the camp by the time the enemies had returned. A moment's pause was all that was needed for one of the higher goblins to coincidentally turn around and spot the two adventurers attempting to make off with the loot.
"OI! T-T-THIEVES!" The monster screamed and pointed a gangly finger at the two, which was somewhat ironic since it was the goblins who were the thieves in the first place. This shout alerted the rest of the goblins who peeked out from their tents and rubbed the sleep from their eyes. "Sharp Tooth, whatcha screaming' 'bout-" one started then turned its head in the direction of Cap and Vee.
An abrupt silence.
Talk about a deer in the headlights moment. All parties froze in place, trying to access what exactly was happening. A random and sudden breeze rushed by, dragging along a clearly out of place tumbleweed bush, as the two parties remained at a standoff. The two adventurers were outnumbered by…one, two…five goblins. Three of which were level 15 scouts. Vee could only manage to say one thing, "Merde*…"
The moment of silence was over.

She lacked the raw strength and muscle needed for the task, and would have surely failed if it were not for Vee. Oh, why hadn't she summoned her Golem Sentinel instead? 'Because he's too heavy for the swampland, and might not obey you at your current level?' No, that was wrong - her main class level bore no effect on her Animal Trainer subclass. 'Bah, that's a last resort.' Sure, the sound of singing was drawing nearer, but they still had time on their side. They even managed to move the chest along a short way, before the singing grew too loud for comfort.
Capsule could feel the swamp sweat trickling its way down the nape of her neck at the first cry of alarm. This was perfect. This was just neeping perfect. She refused to give in so soon, though. The redhead did her best to motivate Vee Ray and pulled the chest as far as her muscles could muster, but it was still not enough. She had to set the chest down, for her arms were starting to ache at an excruciating rate. Anymore of this, and her arms would be pulling free from their sockets, and what good would that do the two of them?
She internally wept during the brief Mexican standoff. This was no good at all. There were three level fifteen goblin scouts, who had dropped their crocodile carcass to examine the situation, and two low levelled scouts that would hardly be an issue. "Fick mich," she whispered just after Ray's French curse. Normally this would hardly be much of a fight for her, but without the aid of her tier two skills, Capsule would have to be crafty.
Did she have anything in her chest squid of surprises? Her Mayahuel Flower Bud was being awfully quiet right now, and probably would be of no use to her, unless she switched to a higher level. Ahahahaha like she had the time to do that! The lower levelled goblins were already rushing in, sleepy and weak as they were. "Knock 'em out, Vee!" In her excitement, she had lapsed back into using the purple haired woman's semi-proper username. Capsule herself released her end of the chest to grab her grimoire and kukri. She fired a bolt of magical energy at one of the goblins that strayed too close, and then used Keen Edge to give her and Vee's weapons the sharper edge needed for this fight.
A white beam of light from Inversion caused a level fifteen goblin Scout to turn and accidentally strike an ally. Both goblins began cursing and swatting at each other in annoyance, but ceased when their superior yelled at them to stop. The higher levelled goblins may have been stronger and somewhat smarter, but they were still goblins. The Enchanters should be able to easily outwit them, especially now that Fiver was attempting to draw their attention.
"Lookit this rabbit, boss! We gon' eat good tonight, mang!" The goblin darted around Fiver at a speed the lower levelled goblin Scouts simply did not possess, jabbing his weapon at the rabbit. Fiver snarled as he took a gash to the side, but rather than run like his cowardly brethren, leapt at the goblin. There was a dull smacking sound as goblin and rabbit rolled around on the swamp floor.
"Ignore the rabbit, you fools!" The presumed leader of the goblin Scouts was yelling at the other two to come to their senses. Fiver was sent rolling as the goblin he had entangled himself with kicked him off and rejoined the rest of the Scouts in harassing the two women.
”I’ve heard that human women are easier and prettier than goblin women. I guess they weren’t lying,” said the third goblin Scout. This one took a Mind Shock to the face, and staggered around in opposite directions. Capsule wasn’t going to stand here and take sexual harassment lightly, thank you very much. She was starting to feel a bit of strain in her MP use, though. She could spam all she liked, but it would not matter without the aid of some true damage. The damage inflicting skills allotted to Enchanters was pretty crummy, after all.
”This is going to be a little painful,” she muttered to Vee. Very painful indeed, given how quickly the enemies were bouncing back from their attacks – minus the Weak Goblin Scouts, one of which Capsule managed to kill with two thrusts of her kukri when it came too close. The weak little scouts were utterly pathetic foes; she only wished she could say the same for their superiors. If things started to look bad, though, she really would pull Fiver out in favor of her larger and stronger familiar.
