Saeko hadn't been to the beach yet. This was new to her. Back in the other world, she lived inland in England. Never having once been to the beach herself, she heard stories from her father, when he was still alive, about how he and Saeko's mother had gone there, just before her mother getting pregnant with Saeko. She grew a bit sick when she thought about her parents and the... Process by which Saeko was made. Not only was it her parents that were involved, but it was especially because of her mother. Saeko would never let that woman off the hook with what she did. Growing angry at the beach. Yeah, that's Saeko in a nutshell. She sighed as she realized this, walking off the pier and onto the sandy beach. She held her sword sheathed in her left hand as she moved across the beach side. Looking out at the water, it calmed her a bit. Sure, Saeko would have loved to come here with her father, but that was then. She wasn't here to wish that she were here with her dad, though. She was here for some quest that the moronic Monk had failed. Apparently, he had come here with another person in order to clear out large amounts of mobs. Seagulls. That athletic bastard couldn't hit seagulls. How pathetic. How hard was it to hit a bird, flying low to the ground? Hell, he could've just used his fist. Maybe even his foot. And why the hell did he just run off and go to the bar with the person he was with? For his own sake, it better not have been a girl. Saeko needed to stop thinking about that. He infiltrated her life enough by now, and even she needs a break here and there. Although she'd rather stay in the city where she could keep an eye on him, even she needed to get some EXP now and then. Glaring at the water, she stopped. Waving her hand in front of her, she turned slowly to look over the quest information, and party requests, and whatever else have she. So, this quest was to finish up what wasn't finished beforehand. She had to clean up his messes. Great. Whatever, getting back on topic. Saeko looked over the quest once again, and saw that she needed to kill XX amount of seagulls that would be flying overhead nearby. Also, there were two people whose names were listed on the quest register. Scoria and Litost, huh? Saeko hoped that they wouldn't be self-righteous assholes. First of all, they were both guys. Saeko didn't trust many people. Maybe that was a girl thing. Also, they were both level 1. Hopefully, Saeko didn't have to babysit these two. She grunted a little, and closed the menu. Taking a moment to look back at the water and calming herself, she turned around and found a place above the sand where she could sit, and not get her skirt all sandy. Walking over to the grassy knoll just behind the sand's edge, and sat down, folding her skirt below her legs. She wrapped her arms around her legs, and watched the waves crash on the shore. "Peaceful..." Saeko muttered to herself, smiling a little as she put her chin on her kneecaps. [555 Words]

my eternal solace There was something about a monk and some other dude clearing out some sort of enemy at a beach and that piqued his interest. Well, not really, but the fact that it was cleanup duty only meant that the job would be easier. Easing into the game was one of his goals and taking up the role of janitor was more than welcomed. Even though standing on post seemed like a job that would bring more honor, killing things in a video game for the first time was even more appealing to him.
Litost trudged through the sandy paths that lead to the beach. Glistening water crashed against the surface of the sand and receded only to repeat the cycle again. It was peaceful. The only beaches Timur ever laid eyes upon were upon frozen lakes covered beneath thick layers of snow and ice. It was a bit of a culture shock.
"Scoria and... Saeko." A thick Ruskie accent accompanied the uttering of his partners' names. He couldn't help but feel like he had butchered the pronunciation, the majority of the game's populace having taken up Japanese names.
Veselov spotted a figure over by the seaside and strode his way on over to the lady, standing to her left only a few meters away from her. "I would only assume you are one of the people to clear out the seagulls, yes?"
Even now, he felt like he was biting onto a bit more than he could chew. She was a bit more well armed than he was and he had yet to face these 'seagulls'. What if they were man-eating seagulls that devoured men in one bite? What if they head some sort of strange mutation that gave them talons like a hawk and could rip apart any man with a simple clench.
Litost's list contained many things on it, but dying was not one of them.
"I have come in hopes of being of assistance to the cause if you would have me."

neeping Pelipper. God. Go away. Scoria harumped and walked along the path to the beach, Alraune in tow. That was his one Level 1 skill. His level was painted red, indicating his use of the Teacher System, but did he care? No. Suck it. Scoria casually continued to walk along as the tiny sprite let out 'hoo!' and 'haa!' noises as she practiced her punches and kicks. She was a little miffed to be in her small form again, but she kind of put up with it because screwing around with people was fun. Scoria was not a bad influence at all. Nope. Well anyway, it didn't really matter one way or another as the duo pretty much held a great distaste for each other. So they walked along with a mutual acceptance and headed towards the beach, wondering who it was they'd be paired up with. Scoria didn't really care one way or another. Alraune decided she wanted a piggyback ride, so the forest sprite hopped up and adjusted her potato sack shirt. Scoria harumped as the sprite complained about turtles or something, but Scoria didn't really care. It wasn't important. What was important was screwing with innocent newblets. And by that, he meant helping. Oh wait Scoria could make this better. He hid all his weaponry and then decided not to use any skills he didn't have to. His one skill was summoning Alraune so... That would do. Neither Glacial Freeze nor Call Storm would be any good here anyway and he wasn't going to heal anyone because fuq dat. If someone took 2 damage from the Pelipper train, they could deal with it themselves. What was he, a cookie? No. Geez. Anyway after a lot of nonsense introspection about this and that meant only to inform other people about how his forest sprite was wearing a potato sack and that he was level one, the Druid finally made it to the beach. Luckily not a Nuuuuudist Beaaaaaach. That would be bad. Really bad. Anyway there was some girl sitting there watching the waves and being all serene. TIME TO SCREW THAT UP. Oh and there was probably some Guardian dude too but Scoria didn't really care. "I want to fly, turtle!" "Up we go..." And then Scoria threw Alraune into the air towards some seagulls. She caught one of them, dragged it down to the ground, slapped it a few times and gave it a headbutt, then let it go. Unfortunately for Pelipper the seagull, being stuck with spores and a slow effect and having your wings not actually move like they should made it really hard to generate lift so Pelipper just dropped back down and Alraune continued to hit the seagull. Nice work, potato sack sylph. Scoria, on the other hand, was now calmly walking over. The ever-present glare on his face wasn't particularly harsh today, but he had to find some Saeko and some... Litost? Okay then. Oh wait there was Saeko, sitting on the sand enjoying herself. And Litost was... oh wait there he was. Okay Saeko was decently armored and such, and Litost looked like a complete newblet. Still, he liked Litost better because that face was pretty smooth. Scoria liked that. But not as much as he liked pie. Anyway, Scoria walked over and tilted his head slightly, glaring at the duo. "Hrm." Yeah, that was what Litost and Saeko were getting. Hello scrubbernaughts! It's meeeeeee, Lt. Asshole!

Saeko's focus returned when a think Russian accent began to speak towards her. She turned her head to the left, her smile having disappeared entirely by now. This guy, Litost, seemed rather polite, despite being a Guardian. Most guardians were in-your-face, I'll Protect You! guys. However, this guy seemed to have some sort of different agenda that he played off of. Saeko stood up from her semi-fetal position, placed a hand on her left side, and looked at this guardian a bit more, before responding. He seemed firm and strong, despite being a level 1. His demeanor suggested that he's got a very focused mind, and when he sets his goals, they sure as hell will get done. A good trait to have, one which Saeko respected. She nodded, but didn't smile. "Yeah, that's why I'm here." She spoke, before looking behind her at the flock of seagulls. "And it looks like I'll definitely need a hand with this." She turned back around, just in time to see another person walk up. She hated this new guy immediately. His little companion was cute, though, but this guy would probably be a problem to her and Litost. New guy, Scoria, just waltzed up and had a demeanor opposite of Litost. He looked like he didn't even want to be here, and was just here to waste time, since he had so much of it. Strange, coming from a level 1 character. Wait, why was the 1 red? Whatever. Not like it really mattered, anyways. He gave an introduction of just 'hmm.' Who does this guy think he is? At least be considerate and greet people normally. Granted, Saeko didn't do that kind of thing herself, but she at least spoke to the guardian after he posed a question to her. Etiquette is important. Maybe this new guy was just a scoundrel who happened upon the game and got stuck here like everybody else. Saeko folded her arms at Scoria, and glared at him for a few moments, before closing her eyes, and looking down, letting out a long sigh. She looked back up, to address the two. "Today's mission is rather simple: Kill a bunch of Seagulls for the nearby town." Short and simple. That's how it was going to be. "Whenever you two are ready, we can get started. A friend of mine," She cringed a bit at 'friend.' "attempted to clear this out earlier, but got sidetracked with the person he was with, and ended up not completing the quest. This means that a number of the monsters have already been dealt with, so we don't have to do much work here." She turned around and started to walk towards the battle field, where the majority of the monsters were flocking around. She couldn't believe she had to clean up his freaking mess. It still bothered her. Can't he do anything himself? That new guy was like him, in a way that they both seemed rather unreliable and moronic. She clenched her teeth, and drew her katana, holding it in her right hand. Placing the sheathe at her left side, and her face red from thinking about the monk again, Saeko continue to walk towards the Seagulls [538 Words]

my eternal solace THIS GUY. The new arrival walked with an aura that clashed with Litost's and apparently Saeko's. However, even though he carried a certain air around him, it was the perfect offset to the Samurai's and Guardian's personality.
Saeko and himself got a head tilt and a minor noise from Scoria. 'Huh.'
And the glare. The neeping glare. Timur figured it was just the newest member trying to size both of them up. Regardless of equipment, no one should be underestimated and in return Litost gave the blaring glare a cold shoulder and proceeded to follow Saeko.
Attacking stuff that was flying was pretty insane, even if they were low altitude. Watching from afar, you probably looked batshit insane for trying a stunt like that, yet here they were. Litost had no clue how the game worked and how he was going to approach the situation. He could swing at the seagulls of he jumped but with the armor he had on, he'd only tire himself out and each attempt would only cash in on two birds at most.
Litost shrugged his left shoulder and placed his shield into the sand, it standing almost perpendicular to the ground. The bleach blonde kicked some sand against the point at which both the shield and sand met. He took a few steps back and drew his axe. What he was going to try was also batshit insane. The makeshift foothold wasn't going to hold and his ass was going to get a nice seasoning of sea salt and sand.
The man grunted as he charged forward, pressed the ball of his right foot onto the top of the shield and pushed off.
It was...
a valiant attempt, but the shield gave out and he fell onto his back, the shield sliding forward into the sand and plopped down at his feet.
"That was not what I had in mind."
Slightly embarrassed, Litost fixed himself up and stood with his axe behind his shoulder. As if throwing a regular kitchen knife, he lobbed the axe in a sailing arc that clipped a seagull in the wing.
Success!
But the axe fell into the water...
"..."
How does this neeping game work?

Ahem. Wow, Saeko was sooooooo ruuuuuude not introducing herself at all woooooooow how terrible of her wowowowow wooooooooow. Scoria scoffed under his breath. She was glaring back at him before doing that sigh and look away thing that people did when they thought they were better than him. Scoria knew it pretty well, so seeing it on Saeko's face wasn't surprising. Litost's cold shoulder wasn't that surprising either, but the fact that Scoria had already alienated himself was pretty interesting. He had never gotten himself that disliked that quickly this week. At any rate, they were beating up some Pelippers. Neither of them directly addressed him anyway, although Saeko did give out some sort of explanation. Nothing to respond though. Scoria blinked and glanced around, glaring at the birds again. Yeah, he wasn't going to be able to hit those. He could pull out his grimoire, but that was a pain in the ass. Instead, he gave a tiny nod and walked over the seagulls, glancing over at Alraune who was staring at Saeko and Litost. Wait, he knew that look. She was about to give them - "Winter Turtle!" - nicknames. Yup. She was pointing at Litost, having decided that he was a 'Winter Turtle'. Whatever that meant. Scoria supposed the white hair did kind of help, but... well, he never really did understand the forest sprite. Said sylph was now running towards Scoria and pointing at the sky, straight at the seagulls. Uh. Okay then. Same thing as before then. The Druid's Tongue of Nature skill told him those seagulls were a little confused and wondering what this little tree was doing running around, but their confusion and interest turned into awkward screaming the moment Scoria launched the tiny tree skyward. Alraune's pollen and floated through the area, slowing every seagull and making them easier targets for everyone. She grabbed one seagull and brought it to the ground again, repeating her previous tactics of smacking it a lot and sitting on top of it. Add on paralyzing spores and the seagull never stood a chance. Scoria, on the other hand, went over to retrieve Litost's axe, heading back to the guardian and handing it over. No comments on the attempt to jump and the subsequent fall from Scoria, although the Druid's glare accompanied the return of the Guardian's weapon. Well, to be entirely fair, Scoria was always glaring. At everything. Anyway if Litost didn't take the axe, Scoria would just drop the darn thing. Saeko was... Scoria didn't know what the swordswoman was doing. She wasn't exactly asking for his help (and neither had Litost) so it seemed they were all doing their own thing to complete the objective. Alraune was running towards him for another skyward flight anyway. Three, two, one, and up we go~

So it seemed the other two were getting to work, almost as soon as Saeko was. Also, it seemed the Litost was already given a name by Scoria's little friend. Although, she was basically ignoring the trio over on the other side, and was more than likely going to focus on killing the birds as they appeared before her. Saeko's blade was already drawn, but now it was resting safely by her side. She had her eyes closed, and she was waiting for one to dive closer to her. She emptied her mind, and listened instead of looked. She would hear the rustling of feathers as the bird swoops down, and she would bring her blade up and around as it did. She would slice it in half with one quick stroke, leaving nothing but the cleaved halves of a senseless animal in her wake. And she would do this, time after time, no matter how many come down to her. She smirked evilly in her mind, and envisioned what would be going on around her. In reality, however, no such thing had happened. She was just stupid looking, as she stood there, waiting for birds to swoop down nearby her, when the closest bird was at least 10 feet above her. After standing there for a few seconds, Saeko got a bit annoyed. Her brows furrowed a bit, noting that this was rather embarrassing. Her face was getting a little bit more red as the moments passed, and she lost it. Saeko lost all concentration, and figured that her chance to be cool was almost gone by now. So, she snapped and started to jump up after the birds. After swinging around for a few seconds, she looked further down the beach, and noticed where the birds were getting lower than normal, and decided that that's probably the best place to go. In an effort to prove to herself and these other newer players that she could finish what that stupid monk started, Saeko began to run over to the area with a more constant flow of low-flying birds. Saeko brandished her weapon to her side, and slashed upwards at one of the birds, clipping its wing, and bringing it further to the ground. She then followed up with rapid swings, trying her hardest to kill the avian beast, and eventually she succeeded. Saeko panted and leaned forward a bit, placing a hand on her knee as she knelt down a bit. She felt kind of tired after that, having stayed pretty calm and collected in her time having around the city. But, now that she was up and about, she had to do things a lot more. This pained her somehow, and made her feel way too out of shape, which wasn't necessarily the case. Saeko just had things taken care of for her, not really having to do much other than walk around the city, picking up ingredients for her and the stupid monk to turn into food. Attempting to forcibly shake the thought from her head, she assumed her battle stance once again. Holding her blade out before her, and concentrating on the birds nearby the ground, Saeko continued her fight. [535 Words]

my eternal solace Litost took his axe from Scoria and nodded his head in gratitude. Thankfully none of them said anything about the failure of a toss. Back in Mother Russia, he would have nailed a bird with a butter knife and would have skinned it and prep it for his dinner.
Alright, that's a stretch, but he felt a bit of embarrassment welling up inside of him. Though he kept up his stoic presence and dusted the rest of the sand from himself, an annoying pit grew in his stomach.
Once the tiny products of erosion were vanquished from his clothing, he turned his attention to the others' method to attacking the flying creatures. Scoria elected to throwing their pet thing into the air which in turn tackled the seagulls to the ground and beat the ever-loving life out of it. It was almost comical, given the fact that Scoria only heaved the minion into the air to lay down the righteous smackdown. Then there was Saeko who kind of just snapped and messed up a bird so bad, it probably wished she didn't mess him up so bad. Kerching kerching! And then it was dead. From her attempt to keep her calm-cool-collected facade up to just going batshit on that bird, Litost nodded his head and kept in mind that if he were going to neep with anyone, she was not one of those people.
Yeah...
Timur made room for himself by walking up a slight hill in the sand. Throwing was his only way to attack the creatures and it didn't have a bright outlook. Nonetheless, he picked up his shield and heaved the giant slab up into the air followed by his axe. The shield missed entirely. Like we're talking about aiming a loaded gun at the broadside of a barn and having the barn blow up in your face. Like that. Sort of.
The axe, however, took a different path and nailed two seagulls across their bodies and knocked them to the ground. As they were trying to get up, Litost literally jumped at the opportunity and grabbed them by their necks. With a twist of his wrist, their necks snapped and they went kaput. They were gone! Woop! Litost celebrated silently, doing a little dance in his own head.
Now as for the quest, he didn't know how much they were going to have to kill, but if this went on any longer, people were going to ask why his right arm was bigger than his left.

...what was Saeko doing? Scoria had moved to pick up his little forest buddy once more, but had taken a moment to watch Saeko strike some sort of Miyamoto samurai film pose. Girl, you're a Samurai, but you're not a mystical, legendary creature. Whatever. She went all berserk on some seagulls, so fine. If that made her feel better...? Scoria continued glaring and found some more seagulls, picking up Alraune and sending her skywards once more. It was much more like play than actual combat to the little sylph, but Scoria wasn't bothered. Sure, he was glaring, but the job was getting done so who cared. Litost surely didn't. Hell, everyone was sort of doing their own weird thing. It was a little strange to him that none of them were using skills. Scoria definitely remembered a few Kyuu had used that would make this whole thing a little easier for Saeko, and one or two that might help Litost. Scoria reached up and plucked Alraune out of the air as she missed her attempt to snag the seagulls, huffing softly and sending her skywards once more. This time, it was at a bit more of an angle, resulting in her catching a segull out and dragging both down to the sand, proceeding to beat on it. The poor creature couldn't do anything to the forest sprite, and Scoria probably made the whole situation worse from having taught the little girl how to brawl. Well, it turned out alright. Time to give some unsolicited advice to Saeko. Litost was spared because he was Level 1 and, as a result, might not have an aggro skill. Scoria gave the man a bit of consideration and instead turned to the Samurai. "You wouldn't happen to have that electricity armor skill or the helicopter skill, would you?" Yeah, that's it. Play it like you're asking for help or something, not that you're giving advice. If it was Saeko, she'd probably get stubborn or yell at him for giving his input, so he avoided stating anything explicit. He didn't ask for help either, but just made that inquiry, the loaded question with a whole lot of implications. Turning back to his own thing, Scoria picked up Alraune and threw her skywards once more. One more seagull was grabbed, sending it down to earth. With all the throwing of the sylph, the entire area was getting somewhat thick with her pollen, slowing every seagull down. Everyone would have an easier time catching some seagulls.
