Another Tailoring attempt [Solo/Crafting]

In order to obtain better equipment than what she currently had, so she could train in better places and not risk her HP depleting within one or two hits, she had to obtain money. She could go with the method she had been using the entire time, which was level-grinding, however, with her level, there wasn’t many places she could go to grind, plus those monsters didn’t exactly drop much Gold.


So she was left with one option, boosting her tailor level to the point where she could sell clothing items that could be of use to people. With her current level, such a thing was impossible, she was going to have to raise her crafting level, despite the fact that she didn’t quite like Tailoring, since she wasn’t good at it. Of course, she could always change her crafting class, but she instead decided to stick with it for a little longer.


Instead of relying on the system instead, the female decided on making an item by hand once again this time, hoping it would be much better than her previous disaster. This time, she had mentally created a pattern for crafting the item, Cold Resistant Clothing, to be exact.


“I just hope this’ll turn out better than last time…” Sorano mumbled to herself. Lying the length of fabric in front of her, she used the tip of the scissors that she had obtained to carefully trace a pattern in the fabric, to show her where to cut when she was ready to do so. With the pieces of the torso traced, as well as the arms and a collar, staring at the fabric for a few seconds to check that everything was perfect, Sorano begun to cut the fabric into the pieces she had traced, creating numerous different pieces of fabric, varying in size- although a majority of them looked the same, primarily to form the warm layers of the item. Tossing the unused material aside, she lied the pieces on the work bench, letting out a sigh. She was pretty thankful that this turned out so much better than what she expected.


“Well, time to work on the next part.” Placing the scissors on the bench, she stretched her arms upwards, leaning back a little on the chair she was sitting on. Now it was time to work on the next part, the one she was most concerned about, actually assembling the clothing.

She had the pieces placed together, not ready to stitch it together just yet. To start off with, she had the collar, two piles of small pieces of fabric. Because the clothing she was creating needed to keep the wearer warm, she needed to build up enough layers to achieve that, since one layer of silk wouldn’t have been enough to achieve that. Funny, she came into this game not knowing how to sew at all, and now, she suddenly knows a heap about it. Perhaps it could have been from learning about the craft from others, primarily People of the Land?


Whatever, thinking about how she obtained such knowledge was distracting her. Regaining her train of thought, she begun to sew the pieces of fabric together, although proven to be difficult with how thick the layers were- sure, it might have been a little easier with, say, a sewing machine, but those didn’t exist in this world, just yet, as far as she knew. Okay, that was actually a pretty good idea, she would have to keep that one in mind, maybe she could find a mechanic who could build one, although that would have to wait a pretty darn long time…


Placing the finished collar down when she finally stitched it all together, she began to work on one of the sleeves, surprisingly remaining patient at how slow she was going with sewing, she couldn’t seem to rush with it, especially with how worried she was that she would screw something up. Regardless, the single thing she was losing patience about was how hard it sometimes was to get the sewing needle through the fabric, she had nearly thrown her half-finished item across the station out of anger a couple of times, yet she managed to keep her sanity intact with sewing the stupid thing.


One sleeve done, she let out a frustrated sigh as she commenced with the other, she was already irritated with this, and she still had the torso to go! It was at this stage where Sorano tried to rush her work, yet it didn’t exactly last long, so she went back to taking her time after a while, much to her annoyance. However, instead of launching the piece of clothing across the station, like she had wanted to do numerous times, she kept trying, still angry with how slow it was taking to complete it.


When the last sleeve was finished, she let out a sigh of relief, placing the finished pieces to the side, where she would use them later to piece the clothing together. Staring at the pieces that made the torso, she began to wonder how exactly she would tackle this problem, stitch them all together in one big piece? Or stitch together two separate pieces, so it would be easier to get the sleeves stitched on to it when she got to that stage. Thinking about it for a few moments, she eventually went with the second option, purely to make her life easier with assembling the thing in the end. As well as that, with a smaller amount of layers to stitch together, she was able to stitch the two pieces pretty quickly, much quicker than with the sleeves, thankfully.

With the pieces all stitched together, it was time to tackle the next problem she had to do, assembling the finished product. She was going to have to stitch it together as if it was inside-out, otherwise it would just look bizarre. As well as that, she would have to make sure that it would be easy for the wearer, which was going to be herself, to put her arms through the sleeves, she was going to have to watch where the needle and thread go. Then again, she hadn’t fully completed the sleeves, so she could be able to stitch one side of each sleeve at a time, stitching them to the torso before stitching the pieces of the sleeves together.


Deciding that it was the best plan of action, she got to work, since there was little stitching she had to do, to stitch the pieces to the torso piece, it took a matter of minutes for it to be finished, thankfully.


“This is easy, I don’t know why I was so stressed about it in the first place…” Sorano mumbled. With a smile, she then stitched together the sleeve itself, making sure to take her time with it, to not mess anything up. Once it was finished, she shoved her arm through the sleeve, quite glad that she hadn’t screwed it up.


Proceeding with the next sleeve, she was a little quicker with stitching it, as she actually knew what she was doing this time. Once the clothing article was completed, she stuck both her arms through the sleeves, making sure that she could get her arms through it without a problem. Afterwards, she turned it inside out, pulling the coat over her clothing, making sure that it fit. It wasn’t too big, or too small, it was actually the perfect size for her, much to her surprise.
