get in the sunrise it started with a stumble, then I got old and I got humble The Mansion of the Purple Mirror had been calling to Apollo for no longer than five minutes before he started for the place. He had a natural curiosity for the uncertainties of Elder Tale. That combined with the fact that he had been bored out of his mind for the past week meant there was only one option. Apollo was a little uneasy; he wasn't sure his skills would be enough to brave this mansion in the first place, but now...
"Um...this place is scary..." Apollo turned to face the young Isabella. She was a Person of the Land, and a terribly inexperienced one at that. "Rest assured, my lady, no harm will come to you on my watch." He hoped she couldn't hear the grain of doubt in his voice. Isabella nodded her head, clearly believing him. She shuffled a little closer before taking a deep breath. "I understand. Thank you so much, Mister Apollo." The two walked up to the door of the mansion, Apollo stopping for a moment to take notice of the detail on the large entranceway. It was made of a dark, dark wood that had been etched meticulously. On top of that, it was embellished with faded gold and dark orange jewels. Already, Apollo was impressed. If this was the impression a single door gave him, he couldn't imagine what waited inside. He extended his hand on the double doors and pushed hard, slowly opening the way for him and his companion.
"Stay close to me, my lady, and keep your wits about you. If you see anything, anything at all, please notify me." He turned back just in time to see Isabella nod faintly. Equipping his spear and gripping it tightly, he proceeded inside...

get in the sunrise it started with a stumble, then I got old and I got humble "Wow..."
Wow was right. The interior of the Mansion of the Purple Mirror was...well, it was certainly something. The room shared the same wooden composition as its door. There were large, weathered tapestries on every wall, each with distinct but faded colors. Small orange lights floated aimlessly about the room, offering only meager lighting to the pair walking through the door. "I have to admit," Apollo whispered as he took in his surroundings as best he could, "This is pretty much the perfect balance of creepy and regal." Isabella frowned, which would have counted for something if Apollo had been able to see her face. The druid was about to go on when the whole manor began to shake. Hands immediately gripping his weapon tighter, Apollo moved closer to the NPC and narrowed his eyes in anticipation.
But as soon as it had begun, it had stopped. The Adventurer remained still for several moments, unwilling to lower his guard until he could be sure that nothing was happening. And then... "Mister Apollo, over there!" Isabella pointed to a far corner of the room, Apollo's eyes following quickly. At first he didn't see anything at all, but as a floating light passed by he caught a glimpse of it. The figure was vaguely humanoid, hunched low in the corner. It appeared to be wearing an over-sized cloak which covered its every feature save one. Jagged, yellow teeth grinned maniacally from one side of the hood to the other. Apollo raised his spear just as the light moved fully past the mysterious figure. "Stay next to me, Isabella," he said, his voice low and cautious. "O...okay..."
Determining that standing still was no longer the best option, Apollo quickly stepped backwards until he could feel the wall of the mansion behind him. As soon as he made contact, the lobby began to quake once more. This time a soft snicker echoed through the empty room, sending an unwanted chill down the spine of the isolated Adventurer. He quickly took notice of two of the orange lights, as they had stopped moving randomly and instead appeared to be deliberately floating toward the center of the room, right on front of the spiral staircase that led to the next door. The lights touched down, their glow intensifying and expanding until they began to take a definitive shape. Two Mini Jacks finished their materialization, these ones decidedly aggressive. "This doesn't look good. As I understand it, those things aren't supposed to be hostile right off the bat. What's going on here?" Had he somehow triggered an event that differed from the standard one? If so, how? "Mister Apollo, look out!" cried Isabella as the monsters approached. Apollo readied his spear and, with a deep breath, engaged the enemy.

get in the sunrise it started with a stumble, then I got old and I got humble Apollo quickly sprang into action, knowing that what would normally be an effortless fight might require a different approach with an NPC under his protection. He wrapped one arm around Isabella's waist, eliciting a surprised squeal, before using his Acrobatics skill, High Jump. With an additional person in tow, he couldn't jump nearly as high as normal, but nonetheless he managed to propel them up to a large ridged gargoyle above the entryway. The spearman let go of Isabella and readied his weapon once more. "Don't move from here," he said harshly, the seriousness of his tone reaching his companion. She nodded her head meekly and sat down on the gargoyle, as if the sudden gravity of the situation had made her legs weak. Apollo offered the girl a small smile and turned to assess the situation with his enemies...
Only to find that they could float. "Of course..."
Cursing under his breath, Apollo quickly raised his spear over his head. He entered his casting stance, remaining there for a brief second and a half before an orb of lightning crackled around the spearhead. "Lightning Fall!" The electricity surged towards the Mini Jack on the left, striking it soundly before channeling over to the second. Both the damage and the stagger were lesser for the second target, which meant that it would be the focus of the next attack. Apollo pushed off the gargoyle, dropping toward the Mini Jack with spear poised to skewer it. The hit connected and the pair both fell to the ground with a loud thud. The Druid noticed that both of them had taken minor fall damage, which he considered fortuitous. After all, the more damage he could incur the better. He jumped backwards, trying his best to find a position where both of his enemies could be seen clearly. As far as he could tell, they were both aggro'd on him; he let out a sigh of relief before setting to work.
Apollo rushed toward the enemy he had attacked with Lightning Fall. Luckily for him, it had just floated low enough to be in reach of his longspear. He jabbed up at it, causing it to emit a twisted shriek. Spinning the spear in his hand, he struck once again with the blunt end before delivering a horizontal slash once the weapon had done a full 360. He readied himself to continue his attack chain when- "Behind you!" Isabella cried out. Apollo turned to face the other Mini Jack a moment too late, taking a small fireball to the abdomen. He grunted in mild pain, glancing at his HP gauge as he did so. Sixty-five percent...man, sometimes he hated that he chose to be a Race of the Ritual. He turned to face his actual target once more, only to realize it was a handful of inches away from him and rapidly closing. He tried to dodge the attack but only partially succeeded, taking an additional ten percent of damage. "D-dammit!" He planted his feet on the ground and executed a series of small jabs to his assailer, quickly depleting its HP until it reached zero. Without waiting to watch the Jack die, he hopped toward a nearby corner and turned around.
As he had suspected, the other Mini Jack had been casting another round of fire magic. Apollo poised himself to evade. The creature fired its magical projectile towards him, but this time the man had plenty of time to react. He leapt to the right, avoiding the attack completely, and began casting his offensive spell once more. "Lightning Fall!" The orb of lightning struck the Mini Jack dead on, lowering its health to a negligible level. With a few steps and another whirl of his spear, the battle was over. As soon as the second Mini Jack vanished from the area, the small orbs of light quickly expanded to cover the whole room. The ground shook one final time and, after a moment, the door to the mansion's first hall opened. "Well, that was a good warm-up," Apollo breathed, secretly quite grateful that things had gone so smoothly. He used his High Jump to return to where he had left Isabella. "My apologies if you were frightened, my lady."
The Person of the Land shook her head earnestly. "No, I'm okay. Thank you for protecting me..." She stood up a bit uneasily but quickly gathered her composure. "Shall we?" She jumped down from the gargoyle, landing with more ease than Apollo would've expected, and began climbing the stairs toward the hall. With a light shrug, the Druid followed.
