Thread Type: Mob Battle Characters: Jade Status: Private Death is only the beginning. tagged / notes / 291 words Vayne walked into the field, hardly able to contain his excitement. It had just been a few hours since he found himself trapped in what seemed to be the London server of Elder Tales, and he could not be more happy. As he walked through the familiar field of flowers, he took in all the sights and smells. To him this was the most momentous time of his life. He was free from the arduous strains of reality and he was now living his dream of finally being free. Since there are no field monsters around he decided to just sit on the field and relax, enjoying every moment of his new found freedom. With a stretch of his arms he laid his back on the soft field of flowers and just stared up at the beautiful blue sky, watching the clouds roll on by. "Well this seems like such a perfect day, but I should keep my guard up." he told himself as he lazily opened up his spell menu and manually clicked his only available summoner spell. A dark black light shone on his right hand and there was a rumbling noise from beside him. From the earth, a skeletal hand burst through the dirt holding an old rusty sword. Vayne cocked his head to watch his Skeletal summon dig its way out of the ground and it let out a roar as it stood beside Vayne's relaxed figure. "Alright then," he said as he tapped a command for the skeleton to area patrol, which it would automatically attack any enemy that gets within it's sights. "now I can relax a bit."With that Vayne gave a yawn and continued to watch the clouds in the perfect morning sky. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

notes | It didn't take Jade long to come to a decision on what she should do. After seeing all of the people around her crying, whimpering and wailing over their fates, she decided that she wasn't going to allow herself to be one more victim. Sure she had been completely stunned and frightened when she found herself unknowingly whisked off to a place that closely resembled the world of the game she played, but she would not let that keep her down.
The most important thing to do now, she figured, was to find out where she was and if it was possible for her to go home. That meant going out of the safety of the city, and into the wilderness. Walking around the streets of London didn't give her much information, except for the fact that she was not the only one who was brought here against her will. She knew that she wouldn't be able find out anything more by lounging around, so she chose to seek her answers elsewhere.
As Jade made her way to the city gates, she could see some players looking and nudging each other forward, towards the exit. None of them wanted to go out, in fear of being attacked and killed by the monsters that were surely around. She ignored the surprised looks that the group gave her as she boldly strode forward and went on past the town's boundary.
Out on the field, she was able to recognize the path she crossed as the one she always followed, back when Elder Tale had been just a game on a computer. The game's environment hadn't changed that much, and she was able to determine where to go from there. But as a beginner, she had chosen not to venture too far from the city. Monsters grew stronger the farther she went, and she didn't want her character to gain a penalty for dying because she was being too careless.
But this time was different. She was the one stuck in the game, not her character. She didn't want to stay in this world for longer than she should. So despite the dangers of straying too far from the low-leveled areas, she pushed onward.
As a result, she was completely unprepared for the four boars that appeared and came charging at her from the right. Jade widened her eyes in fear as she felt the ground tremble from their heavy footsteps. Oh crap!
Her feet pounded across the rocky soil as she turned in the opposite direction and ran away from the creatures as quickly as she could. She could have handled one or two boars, but trying to deal with all four of them at the same time would kill her. Higher...I need to get to higher ground. The heavy, assuring weight of her bow kept her from completely breaking down in panic. As long as she had that, she could position herself in a spot where the monsters can't reach her and kill them off with her arrows one by one.
She looked over her shoulder as she continued running, trying to gauge the distance between herself and the boars, and was unable to spot the person who was lying on the ground in front of her. A cry of surprise escaped her lips as she tripped over the other person's supine body and felt her own fall forward, before crashing to the ground with a thud. She grimaced as she hurriedly pushed herself up and glanced angrily at the other person - a man with long, auburn hair and glasses over his eyes.
Any heated words she wanted to say got stuck in her throat as she found herself staring at a skeletal figure wielding a weapon. She quickly scrambled backwards, away from the other person and his monstrous familiar, staring at them both with a mix of anger and fear as she tried to figure out how to get out of her current situation.

Death is only the beginning. tagged / notes / 508 words "I was almost there..." he thought. As he ordered his skeleton to attack four boars at the same time. "How troublesome."We are getting a little ahead of ourselves. Let's go back to the story a few minutes earlier. Vayne, who had been lazying about, was nodding off into a slumber. He was literally so relaxed that he would fall asleep in a field area. He knew that the Skeleton would probably dispell the moment he fell asleep, but really he didn't care because it was such a nice day for a nap. As he felt that familiar darkness creep at his consciousness, he heard the distant thumps of footfalls heading his way. "Oh god, please not now." he thought. "Ignore it Vayne, just ignore it."He focused his mind far away from the spot, trying to drown out the hurried footfalls as they came nearer and nearer to him. It was obvious that he was just in denial, and that those footsteps will not go away. It also did not help that aside from the obviously humanoid stomping he heard, he also heard a group of thunderous charging things. This had become a situation that he could not ignore anymore. "Arghhh." he grunted as his eyes popped open, just in time to see an an attractive young woman with wolf ears trip her feet on his chest and send her sprawling beside him. Vayne sat up and adjusted his glasses as he turned toward the girl, who at the moment was backing away and staring at the skeleton beside me. "Hey, lady, are you okay? It looks like you just saw a ghost." he said. "Okay so maybe not so much of a good time to make a pun." He then turned around to see four boars tearing up the field in chase of the girl. He just sighed and got to his feet. Surveying the situation, he assessed that the girl needed help. "If the circumstances were different, I probably wouldn't have disliked having a girl fall on me," he said jokingly. "but the matter of these boars are sort of troublesome isn't it?"With that he unfurled his whip and with a crack the skeleton let out an otherworldly cackle before it charged at the boars. The skeletal summon used it's rusty shield to block the nearest charging boar and it slashed at it as a counter. With the skeleton dealing damage, it attracted all the aggression of the other boars and they all started to focus on it instead. As the boars changed focus, he used his left hand to press a button on an extra, wooden command bar in his field of vision, summoning his awkard, creepy, wooden puppet. The puppet gave off a mechanical clickety-clack sound as it stood at the ready. "Alright, my skeleton could have probably handled just one, but it won't last long with four boars attacking at the same time." he said to the girl, offering his hand to help her up. "So, want to help me out a bit?" CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

I am a fighter and I I ain't gonna stop There is no turning back I've had enough
words 568
notes | The blond haired woman stayed silent as she regarded the other player warily. She watched him as he looked from her, to the boars that had been chasing her, then sighed and stood up.
He and his familiar immediately charged into the fight, the skeleton taking on the first of the four boars with its rusty sword and shield. When Jade saw the rest of the creatures picking out their new target, she closed her eyes and gave a soft sigh of relief. It had been unintentional, but she was glad that she accidentally tripped on the other person. With their attentions focused on the fighting, she could simply get up and leave them to take care of each other.
She was about to get up from the ground and walk away, when the other player started summoning another weird creature - this time it was something that resembled a wooden puppet. Afterwards, he looked at her and offered his hand to help her up. She cursed her luck for not giving her more time to escape before the bespectacled man paid more attention to her.
Deliberately ignoring the proffered hand, she pushed herself up to her feet and stood a few paces away from the other player. She narrowed her eyes at him when he asked her if she wanted to help him kill the creatures. She didn't really want to do any fighting, but it also seemed like a bad idea to refuse. He had helped her after all, and he might hold it against her if she didn't do the same thing.
She remained silent as one hand smoothly pulled out a wooden arrow from the quiver on her back, while she held her shortbow with the other. Keeping an eye on the auburn haired man, she nocked the arrow and drew it back, pulling her arm as far as she could make it. She aimed for one of the boars that the skeleton wasn't fighting, and softly muttered the words "Atrophy Break". The arrow she released glowed with a small enchantment that caused chains to sprout from the ground and bind the creature into immobility the moment it was hit.
Jade did the same thing to the two other boars, temporarily pinning them down, before stopping her use of the skill and firing normal arrows instead. Their health bars began to dwindle down for every arrow she drew, and try as they might, they couldn't attack or run away from her. When one of the boars was close to dying, she hung her bow across her chest and pulled out her dagger. She didn't want to empty her quiver immediately, on her very first fight.
Before the effect of her skill wore off, she ran as quickly as she could towards her target, pressing a hand against its back to keep it still before lifting her blade into the air and plunging it into the creature. Another stab caused it to die and burst into nothing, leaving behind a few gold as reward.
At this point, the two other boars were free to move again. The second one charged in and tried to ram its head against her, but she easily stepped to the side to dodge the attack. She gripped the hilt of her dagger firmly as she turned her attention to her second fight, waiting for the boar to come at her again.

Death is only the beginning. tagged / notes / 760 words Vayne almost laughed out loud so hard at the face the blonde girl was making right after he asked for her help. That look of utter expiration on her face right before she moved to attack was a clear indication that helping out wasn't part of the plan at all. Vayne knew that the girl could have just left him behind, and probably that would have been the idea if he hadn't asked for help. He found this so amusing that he actually giggled a bit as he watched the girl load an arrow and shoot at one of the boars. "Well if she didn't leave me here alone, I guess she isn't so bad." he thought. He let out a whistle as the girl muttered a few words and the arrow glowed in midair, pinning the targeted boar in place with seemingly ethereal chains. From what Vayne could remember, this was an assassin skill. Vayne thought that it was lucky that she was, since that would mean they can make short work of these boars. He was too much of a lazy body to want a prolonged fight, also the problem with summons is that they have a maintenance mana cost over time while they are in battle, so he couldn't really afford a really long fight. With an almost sadistic grin, he went on the offensive. Just as the assassin girl was pinning down the other boars, Vayne moved his left hand and launched his puppet at the boar being tanked by his skeleton. Vayne followed it, calmly walking at a normal pace. The puppet let out a mechanical clicking noise as it pounced and grabbed a hold of the boar, pinning it in place. This was the puppeteer skill "Act One - Exposition", which immobilizes a target for short duration and inflicts a movement impediment. As the boar was being held down, Vayne cracked his whip, sending an order to his summon by thought. The skeleton then gave out an unearthly roar, its green fire-lit eyes beaming maniacally as it raised it's sword and hacked at the boars abdomen. It squealed as blood splashed, painting the surrounding flowers with the dark, crimson fluid. The snare effect of the puppet now wore off and it let go of the pig, jumping back to Vayne's side. The pig now tried to flee from the skeleton, but it was still under the effect of the movement debuff of the puppeteer skill. It slowly tried to drag it's injured body away, but Vayne, who was already near the pig, swung his whip and hit the boar right on the wound. The whip doesn't do a big amount of damage, but it does hurt a lot. It tripped, and it fell right on its back. Vayne gave a little smile just before the skeleton walked up to the boar and hacked it's head off, successfully killing it. The body exploded in a gentle pop of light, but of course the blood that it left still stained the surrounding area. This was Vayne's first kill ever since waking up in the world of Elder Tale. The reason Vayne avoided fighting for this long was because he thought that it would be a hard matter to deal with to kill things with your own hands. Now that Vayne had done so, killing this creature, he realized that it wasn't really that bad. "Not bad at all." he thought. As he finished his thoughts, Vayne saw that the girl had already dispatched one of the three remaining boars. He was glad the girl was adept at her job, as he would have been a tad disappointed and peeved if she wasn't. Just as the girl dodged one of the boars as it charged at her, Vayne took the opportunity to send out his skeleton. As the boar turned to take another run at the girl, the skeleton ran up to it and rammed it with it's shield. The boar squealed and rolled due to the momentum and the skeleton just hacked at it over and over, splattering blood everywhere. The boar helplessly let out a death rattle as it exploded like the first. "Now I know why Skeletons aren't that popular." Vayne said as he fixed his glasses and sighed. "These things kills so messily.""Well three down and one to go." He said as he calmly smiled at the girl, sending his puppet to hold down the last boar with "Act One - Exposition" again so that the girl can easily finish it off. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

I am a fighter and I I ain't gonna stop There is no turning back I've had enough

notes | Jade had been more than ready to face the second boar that attacked her, the tension in her body rising as she watched it turn around. But before the two could clash, the Summoner's skeleton charged in and rammed its shield against the creature, throwing it off its track. She glanced briefly at the other player, seeing the smile on his face, and returned it with a frown on her own.
She really didn't like how friendly to her he was being. It made her suspect that he was up to something, or wanted something from her. Granted, she wasn't in a life-or-death situation, and neither was he actually risking his life to save her, but no one would be willing or interested to help out a complete stranger for nothing. The gesture was completely foreign to her, and it made her worry about what the other had in mind. She didn't like to let others make demands of a debt she supposedly owed them, and give them the excuse to control her against her will.
Without her saying anything, the bespectacled man used his puppet to hold down the last creature. But he stayed in his spot, looking at her expectantly. She squirmed as she realized that he was offering her the last boar to kill.
Still narrowing her eyes at him, Jade pulled out her dagger and cautiously walked towards the boar. She wanted to be extra-careful, in case he suddenly commanded his puppet to let go of the boar to catch her off-guard.
The blond haired woman continued stepping closer and closer, until she was standing right in front of it. One leg slid down behind her as she fell into a fighting stance. Then before the effect of the puppet's hold wore off, she began stabbing and slashing at the boar in quick strokes. Its health eventually depleted to nothing and she straightened up as it died and disappeared from existence.
Now all that was left was her, and the other player. She glanced back once more, directing her wary and suspicion at the auburn haired man. Now what?

Death is only the beginning. tagged / notes / 500 words Vayne frowned a bit when the girl reciprocated the smile he gave her with a frown. Vayne was trying to be nice here, helping her out and stuff, but she was being quite rude. Vayne crossed his arms as he watched the girl execute the boars easily enough. As he watched her move, he appraised her to be quite adept at her job. Her movements were fast and decisive, and there was little excess movements in the way she attacked. She was precise and clean about the kills she made, indicating that the girl was that of an assassin class. As the girl finished off the last boar she stopped and looked at Vayne with distinct apprehension. Vayne just looked at her and again tried his best to give a warm smile. He didn't appreciate the girl's distrusting nature, but he also understood why she was this way. They were stuck in a new and dangerous world, trusting someone so easily could be a fatal mistake. So Vayne, in a show of good faith, rolled and tucked his whip back onto his belt and raised his hands to show that they were empty. "Hey, nice job." he called out to her, carefully and slowly walking toward her in a calm fashion. He imagined the girl to be a wild cat of sorts, and the slightest sudden movement would send her scampering off or to attack him head on. "Its a good thing you tripped over me right?" he said adding a little laugh to keep the girl at ease. "Is it okay if I unsummon my Skeleton now? Its a low level summon, but it eats mana quite a bit." he said as he murmured the unsummon order and the skeleton gave out an otherworldly wail before it crumbled to dust back into the ground. "See, Im now currently unarmed and defenseless, there is no need to feel suspicious or anything."He stopped a few feet in front of the girl as he slowly lowered his right hand to offer a handshake. " I know that you may be weary about me, and I assure you that I want nothing in return for helping out. I only did the right thing." he said reassuringly. Vayne did not really have this habit of being nice openly back in the old world, but with this girl, there was something about her that made Vayne want to be nice. It might be her obviously distrusting nature, or the fact that she was looking at him like she was expecting him to try and get something from her. Either way he wants to clear the mix up, and not establish the thought that he might be a bad guy. He was far from being bad as he was too lazy to be bad. "My name is Vayne, a summoner and certainly not in any way a bad guy." he said trying to be funny, hoping for a positive effect instead of creeping the girl out. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

I am a fighter and I I ain't gonna stop There is no turning back I've had enough

notes | The fight was over, but Jade didn't feel any safer. There was still the other player that had to be dealt with first. She prayed that the other person would leave once the monsters were dead, but he remained and started speaking to her instead.
He called off his skeleton, making it lose its physical form and disappear in a scattering pile of dust. When he started talking, he did in with a soft and gentle tone, the way one would speak to a very dangerous animal or criminal.
Jade had been witness to plenty of instances where cops had to negotiate with someone during a hostage situation. They used the same kind of voice that the bespectacled man was using to talk to her. She didn't know if she should feel amused that he considered her that dangerous, or pissed that he was speaking to her like she was going to blow a fuse at any sudden movement from him. The blond haired woman settled with keeping a straight face, revealing nothing of her thoughts to the other man.
But when he repeatedly reassured her of his intentions, Jade couldn't help but snort in derision. "You think saying you're not a bad guy enough times is going to convince me that you aren't? Hey, maybe if I said I was the Queen of England a thousand times, I'd become one too."
She remained silent for a while as she looked at him and at the hand that he held out to her. He didn't look exactly evil, but that was how things usually worked. Everyone was always looking out for themselves, and they would readily throw someone else under the bus to survive.
It was worse with those who pretended to be all sweet and good, then stab you in the back when they see an opportunity to do it. She had let down her guard in the past, and the betrayal hurt. She didn't want that to happen to her anymore. Better to have never trusted, than to trust and be hurt badly.
Still...he was trying so hard. The least she could do was be civil. After all, shaking a hand didn't exactly mean she trusted him. With a sigh, she reached out to him and grasped his hand, giving it a brief shake before she pulled away.
"Thanks..." She muttered softly. "I'm Ja - ... Jade." She mentally cursed herself for almost saying her real name. It was frustrating to remember, but she had been warned to not reveal her true name on the internet. And even though she was physically here, in this world, this was - to her - still the same game that she had played on her computer just a few days ago. Her inexperience frustrated her, but she believed her relatives - and it made sense not to reveal any personal information to a complete stranger. Using the name she gave her character was a much safer decision.
"... So what were you doing, lying on the ground?" She asked him.

Death is only the beginning. tagged / notes / 576 words When the girl snorted at his antics, Vayne couldn't help but give a sheepish smile. He did understand that he was trying so hard, but his socially awkward personality can't help but goof up at a time like this. So far, the people he had met in the world of Elder Tales were complete and utter nut jobs. There was that redheaded girl that tried so hard to be cute that she faked passing out in the middle of a crowd to get attention, also a blonde samurai chick that rushed headlong into a fight with seven monsters. This person seemed like someone with a good head on her shoulders, which for Vayne, was his first time to meet one. Talking to someone who seemed normal made him a little nervous. "Haha yeah, sorry about that." he said as he replied to her comment about him affirming himself too much. "I didn't mean to, its just that most of the people I've met seemed so crazy that its nerve wrecking to talk to someone who looks so normal."He said those words in hopes that she would understand his predicament, and that this meeting might be smoother than his past attempts at making friends. Oddly enough, all the crazies have started popping out and Vayne understands her caution in talking to a complete stranger like him. "Thanks..." She muttered softly. "I'm Ja - ... Jade."Vayne nodded and fixed his glasses, which were slightly drooping on his nose. "My name is Vayne." he replied with a calm tone. "Not my real name though, you can't be too careful right?" He tried to joke around with her cautious nature, but he did realize that she may not like how he takes safety for granted. He made a mental note to scold himself later on how he the hell he can read a battlefield, but he can't read the mood. He was knocked back reality when Jade as him why he was lying on the ground. He snickered, as he gave his answer. "Well you see, It was such a nice day today, I couldn't help but try taking a nap." he had to laugh at himself as the words escaped his lips. "Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but its the truth."He stepped back a bit and propped his back against a tree before he continued explaining. "I hope she doesn't find my story mental.""I mean, where in the real world can you find such a pretty and pristine place like this?" he said as he nodded toward the meadow. "I mean, look at it. Except for the fact that there are monsters roaming around, this place is perfect for a nap.""I'm sorry, I know it sounds weird, but I've never had much freedom back in the old world." he said with a slight tone of bitterness in his voice. "To me, to try every sort of freedom I can is the only joy I have in this world to keep me sane."He looked dreamily at the field of flowers and sighed. "It might not be long before we get back to the real world, so I would rather just not waste my time cooped up in the town." he said with a sad laugh, which was so unlike the tone when he greeted Jade. "I'm sorry about going off like that, I hope I didn't bore you with that little outburst Ms. Jade." CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

notes | Hearing Vayne's comment made one of Jade's eyebrows rise up warily. She didn't really consider herself as normal and felt slightly worried by the fact that he considered her so, compared to other people he met so far. She wasn't insane or psychotic, sure, but she wasn't exactly the easiest person to be with. If he tends to attract the crazies maybe it's better if I stay away from him...
"Yes, you're Vayne. You said it already." She told him in a deadpan tone. She would have been amused by this reintroduction if he hadn't said anything about meeting other weird people. Now she couldn't help but be worried. If he was as crazy as the people he met, then maybe that explained why he kept bumping into those sorts. But then he did mention that he acted nervous when talking to other people. Jade could understand that, so she went easy on him and said nothing else.
It was hard to be understanding though, when Vayne kept doing things that seemed strange to her. When he answered her question on what he had been doing there, she stared at him incredulously. "You were here... because it was a good place to take a nap?" She look around, as if doing so would help her find an answer that would explain why this place was a perfect spot to sleep in. Try as she might, Jade couldn't see what was so special about it. The open field was like any other. At least in town, you had a bench, or a couch or a soft, comfy bed to lay down on. Here it was...nothing but grass.
The blond haired Assassin shook her head as she forced herself to stop thinking of it. Weirdo or not, here was her chance to find a way out of this strange place. He spoke of getting back to the real world, which lit up some alarms in her mind. There was no way to be sure, but for all she knew, sending players into this place was some twisted idea that one of the game's creators thought of. He could be someone who had a bitter life in the real world and wanted to escape that by living in one he created himself.
As much as Jade agreed with that thinking, she refused to live in some made-up world that worked similarly to a video game. There were people she cared about in the real world. People who were probably wondering where she was and becoming worried sick over her. She had just been reunited with her extended family. They didn't deserve to lose another member again. She had dreams and goals she wanted to accomplish. Things she can't do when she's stuck in this game.
She forced herself to stay calm as she continued speaking to the brown haired man; her voice struggling to stay steady and controlled. If she threatened him or got angry at him now, she might lose her only chance of getting back. She had to act carefully. "Do - do you know something about what happened to us then? You sound so sure that we're going back." She asked him in an inquisitive tone.

Death is only the beginning. "You were here... because it was a good place to take a nap?" Jade asked him after hearing his explanation. She looked at him with mild disbelief as she looked around the area. For someone like her, who obviously wants to get back to the old world as soon as possible, she probably cannot see the beauty of the place. Preoccupied with thoughts of going home, "stopping to smell the flowers" is probably far from her mind. Vayne on the other hand, also wants to go back to the old world someday, but he is the type to enjoy the journey along the way. "Yes Jade, I was napping here." he said as he patted his clothes, getting the dust he got from the previous fight off. "I had a summon up, so it would have attacked an aggressive monster while I was napping."Of course he knew that if he fell asleep, the contract with the summon would break and he would have been left unguarded. Vayne decided to keep that bit of information to himself. The girl seemed to already get that hes the relaxed kind of guy in most situations, but its rather embarrassing to admit to how much of a relaxed person he is. He backed up a bit and propped his back against a tree. He was about to go into a more relaxed position when Jade spoke up and asked him another question. "Do - do you know something about what happened to us then? You sound so sure that we're going back." Jade asked Vayne in a inquisitively. At this question Vayne, looked at her directly in the eyes, and he saw that she, like him, was searching for answers. The only difference is that she is a hurry for these answers, and she probably wants to go home right this very moment if she could. Vayne sighed as he looked away and fixed his glasses, which were sliding down his nose. "I hate being the bearer of bad news, but I actually do not know anything about how we got here or why," He answered her in a calm voice. "but I am sure that we will get back home someday.""You see Jade nothing happens without reason, especially something as big as this." Vayne continued, trying to convey his thoughts to Jade as clearly as he can. "So we can assume that there is some great power at work, which pulled all of us in here for a certain purpose. We cannot expect that that certain purpose be revealed to us right at the beginning, and as no benevolent force has sought all of us out to explain things, we can also safely assume that we are expected to explore and find out on our own.""I believe that by exploring, gathering information and getting stronger is the best way to get back to our old world" he continued. "By doing these things, we may gather bits and pieces of information and finally get the big picture of all that has happened, and finally get home.""So I am sad to say that it may take a while for all of us to get home. But it is a sure thing that we will get there someday. So the best thing we can do for now is be patient, gather information, and be careful where we tread." he finished as he fixed his glasses again. Vayne hoped that Jade understood his reasoning, as impatience in this sort of situation may get her into dangerous situations. Vayne knew that it really wasn't a big deal as death meant being revived in the city Cathedral, but they did not know all of the facts and rules of this world, and there may be some drawbacks when you die. Not knowing scared Vayne, and he would rather not have himself or anyone else suffer due to lack of information. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

I am a fighter and I I ain't gonna stop There is no turning back I've had enough

sorry for the long post XD | She struggled not to show it, but the disappointment was clear in her eyes. She had been hoping that the other knew what was happening and how to get out of here - judging from the way he spoke earlier. Of course, it was possible that he was only trying to hide that information from her, but he wasn't telling her anything, which frustrated her. She wanted to go home, and she hated how she was stuck in a world with no one she could trust. She felt alone and afraid.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she looked away from him as he went on to say how things happened for a reason. Her jaw tensed as she gritted her teeth, her mouth thinning to a straight line. A reason? What ****** reason would there be for me to be here?! What the hell did I do to deserve this? I want to get my hands on the slimy bastard who threw us here and show him just how thankful I am for what he did!
She wanted to cry. To scream and punch anyone or anything. Venting her anger on the man standing in front of her was very tempting, but she held enough control of herself to keep from doing it. She had to rein her emotions, stay calm and find another way out of here. There has to be! I can't stay here!
It was clear that she wasn't going to get any help from Vayne. He didn't seem to care that they were here, and that they needed to get out. He was willing to just let things go on as they were and wait for something to happen. Some higher purpose that couldn't be explained. The thought made her want to roll her eyes. Jade refused to be the victim who had to wait for her savior. She couldn't stand living in this world. I want to go home...
When she took a deep breath, she felt all of her anger transform into a determination to do what she had to do. She glanced at Vayne with a sudden casual indifference that was too obvious to miss.
"Fine. Whatever. Thanks for nothing." She knew that it might be wrong to blame the brown haired man for her situation, but she couldn't help but let the tone of her voice drip with contempt for him. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time. But if he was hiding something from her, if he was involved in this, then there was a small part of her that felt glad she was being vindictive to the other.
That marked the end of their conversation, and she began to walk further down the path. She didn't know where she was going to end up, but it was better than being stuck in that city, seeing all those people standing about and whining or crying over their fate. She was confident that she would find a way home, as long as she kept moving forward.
She could hear Vayne calling out to her, telling her to stop and wait, but she ignored him. She didn't care what he thought, and wouldn't really bother listening to whatever he said. For all she knew, he could be dissuading her because he didn't want her to escape.
Her feet pounded across the ground as she began to run. There was no destination in mind. She was barely even aware of the direction she was taking. All she wanted was to keep running, and perhaps she would get lucky.
As she continued running, she was unable to sense the presence of another creature nearby. It was charging towards her from the right - particularly in her blind spot. She would have never realized it was there if it wasn't for the squeal of anger that came from it. Jade sharply turned her head to the side and widened her eyes in fear as the boar came closer and closer.
Crying aloud, she lunged forward and dropped to the ground, barely avoiding its tusks as it rushed past her. She hurriedly got up to her feet and pulled out an arrow from her quiver. Her hands trembled as she did so, but she was able to nock it and draw the bow, aiming at the large creature as it turned around to face her and attack again. Gritting her teeth, she fired her arrow - infused with the Atrophy Break skill.
When it hit the boar, it slowed down, but still continued to move. She cursed her luck, then realized that there wasn't much time for her before the effect wore off. She had to get away from it as quickly as she could, while it was too slow to catch up to her. She had hoped that the skill would chain him down, but it was now clear that this boar was much stronger than the ones she faced earlier.
Her breath came in short gasps as she scrambled back to her feet, turned in the opposite direction, then an right back towards the city. Tears of frustration fell down her cheeks though she hung her head low, with her hair covering her eyes, and prevented anyone from seeing it.
She refused to believe it before, but she knew that Vayne had been right all along. If the way out was indeed beyond the city, beyond the fields or even the mountains, then the only way she could get past it all was to become strong enough to face everything that came at her. That was going to take some time. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
Behind her, she heard the roar of the angry boar and its charging hooves as her spell faded away and allowed it to go after her again.

Death is only the beginning. Jade / Only wants to help / 768 words Vayne noticed the look of disappointment in the girl's eyes. He had seen it before in other players when they heard of this theory. The theory Vayne stated was not just his own, but it was also shared by a number of adventurers. These are the ones that are taking their time to explore and get stronger, the ones that are being smart in utilizing their time in the world of Elder Tales. Vayne sighed as the look of utter anguish in the girl's eyes show that she was one of those people, impatient about their situation and would foolishly run off into danger, not fully accepting their current fates. This is the kind of person that would and definitely die in the wild, learning to face reality the hard way, rather than thinking things rationally. Vayne gave her a look of concern, but she obviously couldn't see it as her mind was clouded with negative thoughts and emotions. He was about to try and say something comforting but the girl suddenly lashed out at him saying, "Fine. Whatever. Thanks for nothing.", before storming off. Vayne, who was usually indifferent about others, stood up to follow her. "It's none of my business, but I'm not heartless." he thought was he chased after the angry Jade. "Hey! Come back! Its dangerous to go off on your own!" he called after her but since she was an assassin class, Vayne could not catch up and soon he lost her from his sight. Vayne sighed as he stood there alone in the field, the place may be stunningly beautiful, but the flowers did hide a plethora of dangerous monsters. Vayne was thinking if he should search for her, as putting her in that dangerous state of mind was partially his fault. "It is also partially due to her own hot temperament."Vayne then equipped his puppet, making it appear by his side. It looked at him awaiting orders and Vayne just scoffed back. "What? Even if she does die, she would just revive in the London." Vayne asked as if the puppet was arguing with him. The puppet looked at him in deadpan silence and Vayne looked back at it with a defeated look in his face. "Fine, you’re right. It would bother me a lot if she did die." he said as he started moving forward in the last direction where he saw Jade. "I should dismantle you soon." he said with a huff as he trekked through the field. Vayne aimlessly walked in the direction. Luckily, after a while, he noticed that the Jade, who ran away in such a rush, left a visible trail of trampled flowers. Even without the necessary subclass of tracking, he could easily follow the path Jade had left behind. "At least she’s making it easy for me." he said with a sarcastic tone. Vayne calmly walked, following the obvious trail left by Jade. He expected her to be sitting around somewhere, contemplating and gathering her thoughts on what to do. Then suddenly from somewhere not too far away, Vayne heard Jade shout out. “Damn it.” Vayne cursed as he broke into a hard sprint, hoping he wasn’t too late to help. As Vayne got over a small hill of flowers, he saw Jade shooting one of those ensnaring arrows, Vayne saw that boar slow down, but it did not stop its charge. Vayne jumped off the side of the hill and slid down the side as he saw Jade bolt into a run, the slow effect on the boar now gone. The boar was right at her heels when Vayne and his puppet jumped into its path, not thinking about anything at all as he used his puppeteer “Act One” skill. The puppet then launched itself at the boar, arms open like it was going to give it an embrace, and caught it by the tusks, holding it’s advance by pinning it place. The boar was stronger than Vayne imagined as he felt it struggle against the puppet, which was connected by some invisible line to his left hand. Vayne put all his concentration on keeping his puppet in position, not letting it move an inch. “Hey Jade.” he said with a voice of strain as a few cuts suddenly appeared on his left hand as the boar was now pushing the puppet back, straining him both physically and mentally. “Nice to see you again.”He gave her a strained, but sincere smile as he felt a twinge of pain on his bleeding hand. “Once again I seem to need your help.”Fight TrackerOpponents: Young Pittered Boar | 70% | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 | Row 3 column 1 | Row 3 column 2 | Row 4 column 1 | Row 4 column 2 |

I am a fighter and I I ain't gonna stop There is no turning back I've had enough

| Of course, since Jade was running in the opposite direction of the boar - back to where she had been before - she would eventually end up bumping into Vayne somewhere along the way back. She crossed paths with the wooden puppet that Vayne controlled, refusing to follow it with her gaze as it went past her to attack and stop the boar. She slowed down a little to hear the brown haired man as he spoke, her lips thinning to a straight line when he expected her to help him fight the monster.
"Why should I help you? I never asked you to save me. You just jumped into that fight on your own." She said. He didn't know her, and she simply couldn't understand why he wanted to help a complete stranger at the risk of his own life. At the sight of his bleeding hand, she tensed up. But stubbornly held firm to what she said before. "Even with the two of us, we can't beat that thing easily. I could barely put a scratch on it."
The roar coming from the creature reminded her of where she was standing, and the fact that she was far from being safe. This isn't the time for me to hang around and convince this guy I'm not helping him. She glanced at the bespectacled man and shook her head. "I'm not going to risk my life to fight. See ya." And just like before, she turned around and began to run away, ignoring all noises around her - and Vayne if he tried to call out to her.
She ran as quickly as she could, her feet pounding across the floor, as she made her way back to the safety of the city. Her thoughts were a complete jumble as a part of her conscience ate away at what she was doing. I don't have to help him out. He dug his own grave. I never asked for his help. I'm not a damned damsel in distress! She began to slow down as she continued to have an internal struggle over her decision.
But he did help me out and took away the boar's attention from me... and he still hasn't really demanded anything from me... Will he hang this over my head the next time we meet? Hound me over and over again for a debt he believes I owe him? She gritted her teeth in frustration. If she was a cruel woman, she would screw debts and just keep going, no matter what anyone said. But a part of her felt disgusted at owing someone. And this was something she felt she'd owe Vayne, if she continued running away.
Then again, I could use this to my advantage. If I help him out here, there's a big chance that he'll return the favor in the future. At least he won't try to kill me for leaving him alone the next time we bump into each other again. It seemed unlikely, with how big this world should be, but the fates had a funny way of making one eat their words. Most call it karma.
Small rocks flew into the air as she skidded to a stop. The effort of running left her in short breaths, but she wasn't completely exhausted. She glanced back at the general area where Vayne and the boar would be. She could still see their forms up ahead, though she couldn't tell if the Adventurer was winning or not. As long as I stay in the back, I'll be fine. And if I help him out, he's not going to have anything to hold against me.
After taking a deep breath, she did a complete 180 degree turn and ran back to where the fighting was. She grabbed onto her bow with one hand, while the other pulled out an arrow from the quiver. She was going to stay in the back, and that meant long-ranged attacks. There was a big possibility that she was going to use up all of her arrows, but it couldn't be helped. Jade could always go back to town and buy some more.
She stopped running when she was close enough to fire, while at the same time far enough that she could run away quickly when the boar focused its attentions on her. She drew the bow, aiming for the boar, and fired while encasing the arrow with the Atrophy Break spell.
It successfully hit the boar, causing it to slow down for a bit. She then pulled out arrow after arrow and fired a continuous volley at the creature. Come on, come on, die already!
