100% | HP| 100% | MP| WORD COUNT; 750 | NOTES; --- | made by Tarry ♡ LH[/ul][/div] Hyoka scratched his head. With his wavy and messy hair covering his eyes, it was hard to tell what he was focusing on. He was currently standing at a workbench at the station with materials for a Tailor, and also materials for an alchemist. Earlier, he put up a request for an alchemist to help him out with something. He got a response not too long ago, saying they would help. As for what he wanted help with, he wanted to create a new item. After hearing how new recipes could be researched and invented, he wanted to try it out. However, the item idea he came up with couldn't be done alone. Having bout materials ahead of time, he had tossed them on his table without a clue on what to do with them as of yet. There was a lot to do and think of, after all.
The main thing would be discussing if it was possible to do what he wanted to do. For that, the input of an alchemist is vital. Basically, he wanted to make a strip of cloth that was similar to a chain. Just as strong, but lighter and longer, with the possibility of controlling it with magic. The problems that arose during the thinking process was that he had to be able to strengthen it. To do that, he had to use a strong material and it had to not tear or be cut. Maybe being able to restore itself would be better. Then there was the use of magic. Could magic be passed through it to manipulate it? If so, could it be used to wrap around objects and hold them. His vision was using it to grab a tree branch and pull him up, so it would have to be able to hold the users weight.
On top of that, what would the mana drain be like? How often could it be used? Would it slice off the limb it was attached to if all their weight was hanging on it? And then actual combat purposes. He was thinking of a versatile weapon for use all around. For combat, maybe being able to stretch it out to block an attack, wrap it around an enemy, stab through an enemy, those sort of things. If he could do that, he could toss aside the bulky and annoying grimoire. He could also fight more to his preferred style of being among the fighting rather than observing it all unfolding before him. That was what he hoped for, anyway. For the meantime, he could begin his own preparations.
Grabbing his fabric, Hyoka began cutting it into 2 inch width, 3 foot long strips. He did this until all the fabric had been cut. Now he could start experimenting with it to try get a durability. Grabbing a single strip, he tugged it width ways to see if it would start coming loose. It lasted a little bit until it did, so he would have to leave some extra material on the sides to fold back and stick together, so double the width next time. On the same piece, he began tugging it from end to end to see how tough it was without forcing it. At least a double layer next time. The fabric itself wasn't that thick to begin with, so it would be fine. Final test for this part was fraying. Grabbing one end, he began tugging at the corners. It would be obvious the material would begin to fray. He could stitch the end so it wouldn't. Improving the material would help a lot, but if it was only available from a certain level onwards, that wouldn't be very helpful.
With these in mind, he grabbed two strips and stitched them together. This was mainly to kill time, but it helped him understand more about his craft. Finishing that one, he next stitched three together. Finishing this, he did the same tests on the both of them. This time, he had to add in thickness to the criteria. It wouldn't feel very comfortable to have a bulky bit of cloth wrapped around you, even if it was going to help. For this reason, the 3-ply was a no go. Maybe the alchemy would help in this regard. He just had to wait for the alchemist to actually arrive now. He had more materials ready since he had just used up a sheet of fabric for testing. Come to think of it, what time was it? She had been wandering about the City looking at this job request and that job request. Mostly just too get out of her shop as it was being repaired and repainted. The Mana Refractor had been a success but now it was a matter of letting it sit and solidifying. The workers wouldn't bother it thankfully, as most people of the land tended not to fiddle with Magitech. Still, the damage had been minimal but mostly had been done too her. She had remembered how Piper had found her run through with mana fragments. Tessia missed her and wondered where she was now and if she was ok. Finally deciding on a simple sounding job that a Tailor needed Tessia headed to the discussed location. She was sure to take along her Alchemic items and a copy of her Mana Liner Shield in case it could help. From the description it sounded like this Tailor needed a Alchemists input and possibly her assistance in the creation of a new item. Luckily it was in the old Station where she had originally hung out and did her first alchemy crafts. Moving into the area with the tables she moved about quickly looking around for the guy she had seen a preview of. Spotting him at a nearby table Tessia trotted on over.
"Hey there. I am Tessia Meier. I noticed your post in the City for a alchemist's advice's. A pleasure to meet you." Tugging down her simple face mask and offering her hand and her gentle smile she let her eyes wander over the table this man stood at. Odd, only a few small items there and no Mana Fragments either. This would be interesting too see what he had in mind. Slipping her large battle ax off too the side of the table she would lean over the items and listen too his explanation of the experiment, and how if at all she could help. Her tattoos shimmered the pale silver of her inner mana force as she contemplated, even visible now in the bright sun and warming day.

「HYŌKA」 POSITIVE BUFFS| n/a NEGATIVE BUFFS| n/a MENTAL STATE| Motivated
100% | HP| 100% | MP| WORD COUNT; 750 | NOTES; --- | made by Tarry ♡ LH[/ul][/div] Seeing the adventurer walk in a bit over-equipped for the situation, Hyoka did his usual few second analysis of them. Given their appearance, he didn't need to read much further, and moved on to their personality. With the greeting they gave as well as their overall demeanor and body language, this one seemed like the happy go lucky type that preferred a simple social structure. Not going any further than that, he kept his gaze on her for several seconds, deciding on what to say. With his messy, wavy black hair covering his eyes, it was hard to discern what he was looking at or thinking. After that pause, he finally spoke up. 「Hyoka. Yoroshiku. I'll explain what I'm aiming to create. Questions can be asked at the end.」 Saying so in a 'matter-of-fact' attitude, he wasted no time in explaining what it was that he wanted. While doing so, he snipped the pieces of cloth and lined them up neatly.
Basically, he explain that he was trying to create a weapon out of cloth which could be hardened, support a person's weight, wrap around objects according to the user's directions, and even withstand slashing attacks. So it would be a versatile weapon, or accessory, capable of taking the roles of shield, sword, hand and other such things. In a way, it was a whip. A whip controlled by magic and much more useful. Maybe even harden to the point of being stiff and durable as a sword without the edge to it. Heck, perhaps even wrap around a current weapon to strengthen it. The main problem was this could not be achieved with the cloth alone, and required mana to be run through it. Hence, why he requested an Alchemist for help. Turning this into a magitech weapon would be the easiest solution.
「So. Do you think you can infuse these cloth strips with magitech and achieve those enhancements? If they were to break in combat, perhaps a restorative function would be good to create a well, but whatever you can do will help at the moment. I've prepared sets of cloth already with different layers, thickness and sizes, so feel free to pick 'n' mix.」 With that said and out of the way, Hyoka sat down on a chair with one leg over the over, his elbow on top and chin propped up on his hand in a thinking position. He couldn't do any more from here, so all he had to do now was formulate the rest of the plans. At least to the extent of what a Tailor could achieve. Basically, all he could do was change the material used, the thickness, dimensions, and then work on how it is equipped.
Would it be inside something on a belt? Wrapped around arms? That would be the easiest way to access it. In which case, it had to be easy enough to carry on the forearms as weapons without being tight or weighing too much. So the material would count there, and maybe the magitech. Hyoka wasn't well versed in the magitech systems to know if it would increase the weight of the items. And then there was the point of wanting to equip it to ones ankles. There weren't many weapons out there for those who use their feet a lot in combat besides using skills. On top of that, by having them on each ankle, then theoretically if it works like he wishes, one could suspend themselves upside down on a tree branch. Which means even the Assassin class would use it if they could.
Aside from the Healer and Mage classes, the Assassins and Monks would be more likely to use it if created. Swashbucklers with their dual wielding would probably find it useful as well as it provides something that can change shape according to what they want it to be. But then the drawback would be in the mana cost to sustain a shape. Magic classes could sustyain and even become front liners, but others would probably have to use it for improving agility, restricting opponents or quick shots. In which case, having it as an accessory would be useful as it could be used alongside typical weaponry. Could something so versatile really hold up in combat? And if so, is it really something others could use with ease? Monks would have the easiest time in that regard as they could use it as an extension of their body. In any case, he watched the Alchemist do their thing, waiting for his turn. "Well, to be able too alter that fabric like you said. I would have to copy my existing Mana Liner Shield and its properties. Since the spell I replicated during it's inital creation allowed me to alter armor's defenses, it is a ideal choice for this too. It's just I will have too alter the formula and apply it too this new object. Lucky for you I have made such a thing before huh?" Smiling a bit, Tessia picked out some Mana Fragments from her inventory and put them on the table. Being in such close proximity too raw mana made her tattoos shine even more with their silvery moonlight glow.
"It was just, before I had to fight some live Golem's too get the spell right. And even then I was just mimicking what I saw another player use. In this case, I would need too see a spell or effect that can manipulate a objects forces. That or I could attempt to extract the cipher directly from the Mana Liner Shield that I have brought along. Thoughts?" She didn't want to permanently disable one of the armors she had made just for it too fail. It was obvious the Summoner was more interested in fact and progression rather than idle banter. She would have too leave the friendship stuff for later.
Taking out the Mana Liner she had brought, Tessia watched it hum as it enchanted the light armor chest piece it had been attached too. Her first real breakthrough in Alchemy. A attempt into how the Soil Golems where powered brought into the hands of the Adventurers. She had lost count of how many of these where sold or made, but she was glad too know that she had at least done her part in making every player safer. Even if the item's charge only lasted a few seconds. Awaiting too hear what Hyoka had too say back, Tessia slipped the nearby Mana Fragments and Old Filaments close too her. Beginning too think of how to rewrite the very cipher she had made in the first place too fit Hyoka's design.

「HYŌKA」 POSITIVE BUFFS| n/a NEGATIVE BUFFS| n/a MENTAL STATE| Motivated
100% | HP| 100% | MP| WORD COUNT; 500 | NOTES; --- | made by Tarry ♡ LH[/ul][/div] Drawing himself from his thoughts, Hyoka heard the voice of the alchemist regarding his input into what he wished to achieve. Standing up from his chair and walking over to her, he looked at the gathered objects and materials and voiced his opinion on the matter. Leaning in to see his strips of cloth, he began talking. 「If possible, I'd like to avoid using the foundation of another item, however good it may be. By starting with a clean slate, it would be easier to manipulate it to the way we desire and leave space for expansion. Create a brand new foundation for this item. As for how to apply it... I suppose if you could make alchemical circuitry to wire throughout the cloth, perhaps between two layers, that would suffice.」 Hearing the rest of what the adventurer had to say, he thought for a moment. With his black hair still covering his eyes, he turned to Tessia.
「The closest analogue would be a whip. A whip is layers and layers of tightly wrapped and braided leather, giving it a high durability. For this, I'm trying to cut that corner and replace that physical labor with magic. On top of that, being able to wrap it around a target and tighten, or constrict may be describe it. The durability itself, if as strong as a chain, could be either through magic or the material itself. It's possible to make it durable enough alone, with a bit of effort, but to make a strip of cloth stiffen on command in order to block attacks, magic would be the best bet. Magic based classes would be best suited for using this item in place of a grimoire.」 Voicing his ideas up to here, he opened his menu and pulled a book out of his inventory, reading through its contents.
The book was a list of crafting items. His active imagination and rationality on top of his knowledge base from the real world was enough to give him an idea of with materials he could use to increase the durability. All in all, it was pretty much leather or cloth, but the leather would be too restricting and difficult to carry around compared to having the cloth strips wrapped around a limb. Finding a low cost mana solution would be best. Thinking of this, Hyoka pulled out a knife which was as strong as a basic weapon, but used for tailoring. At least, it was a crafting tool for him, especially in leather working. Taking one of the scrap pieces of cloth, he tried to cut it in the middle. There was a little resistance, but it went through. Doubling the layers, he had a harder time cutting through it.
If liquefied mana fragments could harden the cloth or enhance its durability without sacrificing malleability, it could work a lot easier. Still, he just had to wait for pointers from his alchemist assistant. After all, he wasn't well versed in alchemy, having ignored the majority of the crafting system. Hearing his suggestion about using Old Filaments in the making of this item, Tessia removes some from her inventory as well and begins to strip them with a small dagger she carries around. They would need to be exposed in order too fuse with the leather and insure that they wouldn't break. Once that was done, she began to line the varying lengths of leather with matching cut wire. "Hmm, well.....one of the ways Alchemy works is that it will create a direct fusion with the fabric too allow it too hold mana energy. To be honest, I wouldn't suggest using Mana Fragments on the flexible strips as they tend to crystallize whatever they are being fused with. The power source for controlling the strips should be in the handle, and most likely should be the Fragments. As I cant really make a greater source of power yet myself. It would have too have a relay too....leading back into the power source and completing the circuit."
She muttered a bit and took hold of another Old Filament and began to slice at it wondering how she would accomplish this. "I know. I will make some reinforced wire and crate several exposed loops that go from the mana source, through the wire, then back again. Old Filaments are nice, but reinforced ones are a better choice. Also, It would require a Stable Mana Fragment....oh and also!" Moving through her inventory she removes a Mana Circuit and grins. "This too. It will regulate your commands and, although a bit limited, will tell the wires what to form the leather strips into. I will have too program it first so bear with me. Then I will make the new Wire and Fragment too power the whole thing."
Smiling at him, Tessia slipped off one of her gloves and held the chip in her bare hand. Shining silver light flooding from her tattoos streams down into the chip as she closes her eyes and mutters softly. What followed where a series of gibberish numbers as she spoke in code too the small Magitech device. Programming it directly to control the whip with ones mind as Hyoka had said, her mana translating her words into speech for the device. All the while her mana flowed into the small object slowly as it whirred and whined with each finished binary sentence. Opening her eyes and nodding she placed the glowing little chip aside and began looping together a few Old Filaments and fusing them with a simple touch and a bit of her own mana. Her slender fingers running the length of the wires and melting them into one stronger cord. After that was done, replacing her gloves, she picked up two Mana Fragments and focused, feeling her tattoos again sparkling and resonating a bright silver as the Fragments lent her their energy.
Colliding them together just as they began to become raw mana, she sent a jolt of mana into the fray and caused them to refuse into a Stabilized Mana Fragment. "whew. Got the slower parts out of the way. Now, what else do you think it may need in terms of control? That chips capacity only allows for one command at a time per mana burst. Tell it too wrap and it will, in theory, wrap, however it will just do that only. Then you have to send another burst too get it's attention. I can guarantee that the Stabilized Fragment and Reinforced Wire will be far better and more controlled, but we will have too test its reaction time and if possible make adjustments..." Waiting for Hyoka too process all this, Tessia began making more Reinforced Wire and Stabilized Fragments just in case this went south. She had a feeling that the circuit could handle it, but hopefully there would be a bit of lag between commands too not overheat the tiny thing. Magitech was neat but old, and easily broken if one wasn't careful.

「If it only allows a single command at a time, it should work as a basic accessory. However, for a weapon, it would require much more commands. Probably around five at a time, just taking a shot in the dark. Instead of bursts, it would be best to have constant manipulation for weaponry, since the situation is always changing. After all, you wouldn't want your weapon to go limp in the middle of defending in close range.」 Saying up to here, Hyoka picked up the cloth, looking at the material's surface area. It wasn't exactly smooth enough to write on, but if it had ink, perhaps a Scribe could add glyphs for extra boosts. No, that would be too difficult. If the item required three different crafters to make it, it wouldn't be very practical. Picking up the first prototype, he wrapped it around his right forearm, making sure it was securely attached. It seemed to stay there fine enough, but now to test the other thing. Holding his arm out parallel to the ground, Hyoka loaded a command into his mana as he pulsed it through the prototype. His aim was for the prototype to unwrap and extend out in the direction of his hand. However, that was two separate actions. And so, the prototype merely tightened on his arm as it tried to extend without unwrapping. After this, he repeated the same thing expect with the cloth held firmly in his hand. This time, it extended alright. 「If we have to carry the cloth in our hand the entire time, it could become quite cumbersome. Similar to having to hold all your bullets in one hand and the gun in the other. How many chips would you have to add, or how strong could you make a chip to use? And for reference, I'm going to push this prototype to the limit so we can see how far we can go with what we have.」 That said, Hyoka again held the prototype in front of him. He knew that only one command could be given, so next was testing the response time. It had to act like an extension of the body, after all. With hand outstretched to his side, he extended the prototype and swung his arm horizontally at the same time. If it worked as he wanted, the prototype would reach full extension and stiffness before the halfway of the swing. Unfortunately, it didn't extend quick enough and only finished just as he stopped his swing. Repeating a few times, he found the same result. Next, he held it in his palm in front of his body and began rapidly sending it different commands, quicker each time. First, extend. Next, retract. Next, wrap. Next, unwrap. He repeated this over and over, faster and faster to see how long it would take to burn out and also see how long the delay was in between each command. After a while, the circuit finally burnt out. 「Burned out. Is it still usable? If it only has to recover, then it's much more effective than having to get a new one each time.」 Word Count: 524 Tags: Tessia

Having made one more each of the Reinforced Wire and Stablized Mana Fragment, Tessia couldn't help but grit her teeth as the chip smoldered and shut off. It was always a bad feeling too see one of them power down like that but it was necessary too get a idea of what needed too be done. "Yes um....I would say that one is toast. We will have to program another and sync it with the joining chip. And yes the higher quality these items the more likely they would be able to take more commands. Though it would just be easier to program both with empty input instead, so that you can freely manipulate the cloth as you want. I believe by increasing the power source as well as the conductor's sensitivity, it will provide a deeper pool of power too keep running." She kept her simple smile but worriedly looked at the smoking chip and then at Hyoka once more.
"And well, since these newer parts are a tad more um.....mana intensive, do be a bit more careful when you send bursts. The likelihood of causing a discharge is high and even more so with a stable Fragment. I don't want too see you fly through the air ok?" Laughing a little nervously, she picks off the burnt chip and then another new one from the table. Once again sending her thoughts and will into it, it whines and whirrs with her mana data. This time, she feels out the external nodes were the wire attach and sends a bit of excess energy into them. Programming this one to compensate overheat as a slight static discharge, she hopes to have found a way for the item to at least not break now. "Let's use just this one for now too see if my adjustments worked. No offense but the chips are a little harder to come by."
Placing the new whirring chip aside she slides the wiring into the nodes and into the crystal to finish the circuit. Tapping the node spots with her finger tip, she practically welds the Reinforced Wire too the chip then loops it about the Stable Fragment. "There, I have altered the nodes output so that this time it will send out small static bursts if it receives too much energy. It will damage a little so you may want too use a little more caution. Also, this design is a bit more sophisticated as it should, at least in theory, with the added cooling and node weld, be able to handle two commands at once. All you do now is just slip it onto the handle of the whip and I will fuse it with the weapon." When Hyoka had slipped the smaller circuit onto the whip, Tessia reached out and poked the stabilized shard and the whole top half of the weapon's handle crystallized, trapping the wires against the whips handle and encasing the chip in a protective sheen of hardened crystal mana.
"There. It should still flex since the crystals didn't attach too the moving part, while still being able to draw on your mana directly. It might take a small bit of your own too connect but once you've done that well, we will see. If it gets out of hand I will step in to contain it's discharge, since most likely it will keep trying to drain energy from you thinking It is supposed too." Keeping up her hopeful attitude she steps back a little hoping Hyoka remembered what she said about not using too much energy like with the simple circuit. This one could explode or even discharge a static bolt of mana energy. Gulping a little she nodded too Hyoka too begin, watching the smaller circuit whirr and glow a faint silver from its crystallized chip source.
