Apoc did not like that he could not exit the game. However, this would give him the chance to learn and experience something new. This is why he made his ways to the archives that the People of the Field created that were in London. It was near the Old Parliament Building, so he quickly made his way there. What he really needed was to know more about this world. First, it would be more about spells, After all, he was a Sorcerer and knowing more about his spells would give him knowledge on how they react. His first book to read and study was a book labeled "The Big Book of Spells." He laughed quietly to himself a little at the title. However, his thoughts were, 'Why not start here?'
Apoc grabbed the giant book off the shelf and started reading. The first part of the book just listed the spells. There was no particular order to them. An excert from this section was listed in this order: Call Storm, Castling, Cure, Cure Bloom, Compounding Barrier, Damage Interception, Death Scythe, Divine Favor, Earthbeat Healing, Electrical Fuzz, etc. Now that Apoc thought about this, it seemed that the order in the first section was a list in alphabetical order. However, the words were written in color. There had to be something about that. Not really gaining any knowledge beyond the names, he would go further in the book.
The next section contained a list with the same order as the first section. However, this time there was a page dedicated to each spell. He would notice that it would list a basic description, which after checking his known spell, was the same as the description in the spell list he can pull up using the game menu. After another check, most of the page that had the spell listed most of the sections that was on the game menu. An excerpt of this was:
Spell: Orb of Lava
Description: A ranged Fire-element magic that hurls a fist-sized orb of lava onto enemies. This lava ball bounces across enemy targets, dealing damage on impact. Since this skill is Fire-based, this is very effective against enemies weak against fire. One well-known trait of this skill is that it does not affect allies during combat, making it a popular skill among players.
Class: Action
Cast Time: Two Seconds
Cool Down Time: Eighteen Seconds
Acquisition: Sorcerer
What had Apoc confused was the fact that the Class of the spells seemed to be mostly something called Action, while the Acquisition portion of the spell seemed to be what class could acquire the spell. He needed to see what the last part of the book said, so he turned the pages until the spells were gone. There was only one more page to the book when he was done going through the spells. This page simply said "Classes of Magic" on the top of the page. This was followed by eight different classes with descriptions. The rest of the page had:
Action Class. Action Class spells replicate a single attack.
Combat Class. Combat Class spells are capable of altering the course of a single battle,
Operation Class. Operation Class spells are capable of altering the course of two or three battles at the same time.
Tactical Class. Tactical Class spells are powerful magic that are capable of taking down a castle in a single hit.
Strategy Class. Strategy Class spells are powerful magic that are capable of deciding the tide of a war.
National Defense Class. National Defense Class spells are powerful magic that are capable of deciding the fate of a whole nation
Continent Class. Continent Class spells are powerful magic that are capable of deciding the fate of a whole continent.
World Class. World Class spells are powerful magic that are capable of controlling the laws, the fate, or the very existence of an entire world.
This last page was very revealing. He would need to pay attention to other books that mention these classes of spells. After a quick skim through the book again, he would notice that there were mostly Action Class spells listed with a few Combat Class and Operation Class spells. This would mean that there are other books that could tell him the other five magic class spells or at least give examples of these. The only problem was that he ran out of daylight today. He would need to come back in tomorrow and see what else he could learn about spell interaction in this world.
