"I spent enough time working on my subclass stuff, it's time to go hunting!" Steel said as he walked around town. The day had already turned into afternoon but Steel thought he still had some time to hunt. He took out the map he had made a few weeks ago and began searching for the gate leading into the woods. I'm glad I made this map. I still have trouble finding my way around town since I'm more accustomed to the Japan server. It also helps me chart out new areas I haven't explored yet. Steel thought to himself. He was feeling glad for having chosen the scribe subclass. The Courtesan subclass however was another story. He hasn't found too much of a use yet and hasn't really used it much, on purpose anyway. Once in a while, it activated the skill 'Allure' on its own as if it were a running gag from some manga or anime, attracting other's, mainly of the opposite gender, attention despite his simple attire and how he normally isn't noticed. Attracting so much attention was unnerving to Steel from time to time which is why he immediately turned it off when he noticed that it was activated. He felt bad that such a skill could manipulate people in the first place. Even though he couldn't see any use for it, Steel was stubborn and refused to change subclasses until he found a practical use for it. The reason being that an acquaintance of his from the Japanese server had told him that there was potential for every subclass. It didn't take long for Steel to go out of the safety zone and was soon engaged in combat with a few regular slime. Although they were a lot easier than a boar they were harder than Steel expected, his expectations being he could destroy them in a hit or two. After slashing at it another time, he had attacked this slime a total of 5 times now. This is just sad. I can't even destroy a slime so easily. Steel thought to himself with a somewhat grim smile. He saw its health go into the red and decided to finish this. He jumped and spun in the air, creating momentum for his two swords as he struck at the slime. "Assassin's Deadly Dance Swashbuckler version." Steel said as the slime broke apart into anima, remembering that he had been taught by Kyousuke the movements of the Assassin skills which he could then mimic some although he wouldn't be able to use the extra effects. "Well, I guess that's over, I better move on." Steel said to himself as he continued walking down the path. "I wonder if anything new's going to happen to me today?" After a short period of time, he saw a girl with leather armor, most likely an Assassin, having trouble with a level 10 slime. It seemed that it took her by surprise thus creating the current situation. Steel didn't give himself any time to think and charged in from the slime's side. "Dart Tack Target!" He exclaimed before attacking the slime dealing it light damage but moderate aggro with each hit. "Look over here you slime monster!" He exclaimed as the skill was meant more to get its attention rather than to damage it. "You okay over there?" He asked the girl behind him. Words: 564 Gwenduial

Elf Assassin ~ Woodcrafter ~ Animal Trainer _____________________________________________
There she was, fighting a slime that she knew she could not kill. This was it then, she was going to die for the first time. This could not be happening. The slime readied itself for a final lunge, the one that would finish her. She had exhausted all of her mana trying to do any sort of damage to this monster and nothing was working. It out leveled her by nine levels. Shame she had to go to this thing. She stood there, stiff. She was unsure whether to brace or to just let it happen. The slime was ready to take her, but she was not quite ready to allow it to. The slime lunged for the final time at her and she instinctively rolled to the side. This prohibited the slime from killing her. Then it hit her, an idea that is. The slime had not yet finished her off. She did not have much energy left in her system and it would take a lot of food and rest to recover from this, but one step at a time. 'If I just keep dodging it then someone will find me. Hopefully that time is near! I can not keep this up much longer!' She screamed within her head, and multiple times in fact. She was not going to let this monstrosity slay her. It lunged at again, and she dove to the side and then rolled from there as it attempted to squash her where she had laid. 'Hang in there. Just a little longer.' She repeated to herself. Somebody was coming to save her surely. An adventurer would have to possess a cruel heart if they were to decide that it was best not to help such a beautiful girl.
She found the strength to roll one last time, and as it landed next to her, her eyes surely lit up in horror. It clearly had some weight to it, and this would not be fun. So she put herself on her back and closed her eyes as she had prepared herself to die. Just as it was about to leap upon her, a dark-haired boy ran from its side and stabbed it. She nearly fainted. 'Thank you! Someone up there must be looking out for me this day!' She inhaled deeply and it pained her side. Her mouth was gaping open as she breathed heavily through it. She began to inspect herself after such devastating blows. She lay there upon the soil tainted by the weight of the slime, covered in bruises. "One. Two. Three..." She began as she looked herself over. "...Nine. Ten. Wow, ten bruises." That was one for each hit. This slime hit her with surprisingly soft force for its size and level, but nevertheless it had manage to chunk down her health enough to put her in dire straits. Never before had she been stricken with such injury before. It was painful and she never wanted to experience this again. It was over. The black-haired teen saved her. She was undoubtedly thankful with never ending gratitude. He was taunting it, shouting at it and that strange tactic appeared to work. He stabbed and slashed it time after time and finally. Finally he had done it, it dissolved into a rainbow of data and gold. She laughed. She laughed so hard that it hurt to laugh. Then she laughed even more, so now she could hardly breathe she had become exasperated with this slime. It had bested her. 'When did this all begin? How did I get myself into this mess?'
Well, Gwenduial journey began at her home in England. She lived in a middle class home in Downtown London. Her house was made of brick, and the age of the house shone through the wooden roof. It was rough. Her name was Elizabeth, that is right. Her simple yet lovable abode was fit with six rooms. These rooms were: the kitchen, the dining room, the bathroom, the master bedroom, the child's room, and the living room. It was a week from her birthday. Looking at the couch of her living room, it was centered with the antique grandfather clock against the wall, which was about twelve feet to the right of the couch. In front of the couch was a television. What the size of the television was she could not recall. To the immediate left and right of the couch were two chairs. They were lined with a silk so soft that sometimes she fell asleep while she sat on them. It did not really matter what the time of the day was, the leopard patterned cloth was enough to comfort her to sleep. Animals! Forget her house because animals were what she truly cared for. She remembered the very old cat they had. She was silver and had green eyes just like her. The cat's name was Bella. She lived mostly indoors and preferred it that way.
Suddenly, the front door that was the main entrance to the facility swung open with great force. It was her father. He walked in with a gigantic smile on his face. It was large enough for one to mistake it for him holding a banana sideways in his mouth. He said he had something to show her. She became almost as excited as he was and lept from her chair to go see what he could possibly be so excited about. There he led her to her room where her desktop laid. He motioned for her to sit and directed her to a website. Elder Tales was the name of the game. He had found another game for her to play. Oh and how exciting this was to her. She could not wait just another minute. She downloaded it and within half an hour had made her character. She loaded into the game for the first time and was shocked to find herself within it. This was new. A game that made you part of it? She wondered if she could get back. She accepted the fact that she was now in the game and smiled. This was going to be fun.
Here Gwenduial lay, an hour after logging in for the first time. She was defeated. Well, almost defeated. Until this boy saved her. Why had it attacked her? She tried to befriend it, that is why. Her tongue snaked its way between her lips and caressed them with loving care, as she licked her lips to restore some essence of moisture to them she watched the boy as he walked over. She was still breathing very heavily and it had been made easy to tell that she had been battered during that fight. She was helpless and this boy could finish her if he desired. The look of sincere concern had been struck upon his face so she decided that he had not saved her just to take joy in slitting her throat. When he came over to her he asked her in a gentle, kind voice if she was alright. "T-The fact that I'm.. Ow!" It hurt her so much to speak, but she needed to. A sharp pain had just appeared in her side. She grit her teeth in pain before continuing her previous statement. "The fact that I'm not in the Cathedral is good enough for me. I suppose that I'm fine. I don't know how I can thank you. Even though I don't have much to offer you I want to repay you in some way for coming to my aid." She stated boldly as she lay. She wanted to leap up from her position on the ground and hug this boy tightly to show her appreciation. She was in too much pain to make that a reality so spoken gratitude would have to suffice. Gwenduial knew that she would be in the Cathedral, suffering from the guilt of defeat had the Half-Alv not shown up. Her quiver had been emptied, and she lay there, thankful.

Moments after he had come to the girl's rescue, the slime began to attack again. Steel began to use tactics from his real life kendo experience and leaned forward while purposefully barely dodging, allowing Steel to remain in a position to strike after the attack. "Kofuna Shizen Ryu: Samidare!" He exclaimed before striking at the slime with a sword technique from the sword style he studied for years back in the real world. Getting attacked like that made the slime to back away a little out of caution. "I guess it's time to try out some new skills I just got!" Steel exclaimed in excitement before he gave the ground a powerful stomp as he shouted. "Terra Orbital Kick!" At that, a few small boulders of rock was unearthed and with a few strong kicks from Steel, they were sent flying at the large slime dealing it some earth elemental damage. After that attack, the slime was already in the red in terms of its health bar due to the huge difference in level between him and the slime. "One more attack should do it." Steel said as he charged in with his swords in position. He was in a counter stance for dual wielding in kendo. Back in the real world, he was renown for his counterattacks which usually frustrated and/or struck fear in his opponents. Even if this was a virtual body, the feeling one would get looking at him could not be described as anything but killer intent. Steel's face wasn't angry at all but he instead looked extremely calm so it wasn't his facial expression that created this intensity. Instead, it was his several years of experience fighting several opponents in the real world being represented in one unwavering stance, one that looked as if it were designed to cut down one's life in an instant that created the aura of killer intent around him. As if his sword style was meant to cut down a person, in this case a slime. "Kofuna Shizen Ryu: Nishikaze!" Steel exclaimed as the Slime charged at him as well, apparently provoked by the stance. With that, Steel slashed up the remaining amount of HP of the slime, causing it to burst into anima fragments. "Well, that's over. You okay over there?" Steel asked as he turned around to face the girl again. It seemed she was trying to recover a little but she was hurt to the point of having trouble speaking. She was able to manage a thanks though as well as an offer of repayment. "There's no need to thank me, I just did what any decent person would do in that sort of situation." Steel said in response. "More importantly, you look badly hurt." He said as he sheathed his swords and knelt next to her while holding his hand out. "Heal." He said activating another new skill he had gotten. Steel had decided to choose the basic heal skill available to all adventurers for emergency healing. While his healing wouldn't compare to that of a cleric's or anyone else of the healing class, since all of his skills were Tier II now due to his level, it should be at least better than Tier I basic healing. As he used the skill, a small shower of warm light particles fell onto the girl, healing her. "That should do for now. At the very least, it should ease the pain. While we wait for the cool down of this skill to end, why don't we move to a safe zone so we won't have to fight more monsters? You're still hurt so I'll carry you there. Sorry about this." He said that in apology towards the action he was going to do which was considered rude by some before picking her up and jumping up into the trees like a ninja. This was to purposefully avoid the monsters on the ground. Before long, they had reached the safe zone which was when Steel jumped into the small clearing. He then gently put the girl against a nearby tree before looking at his skill list again to check on the cool down. The moment the cool down ended, Steel activated his Heal skill again to heal the girl some more in attempt to relieve more of her pain. "Now that we're in a more safer location, I believe we can now properly introduce ourselves. My name is Steel, what's yours?" He asked with a friendly smile as he stuck his hand out for a hand shake. Elf Assassin ~ Woodcrafter ~ Animal Trainer _____________________________________________
For on this warm, gentle day had the world play a game of life is not fair with Gwenduial. She lay still and limp upon the dirt of this forgotten realm. Having nearly been taken victim by a massive slime, Gwenduial was in a state of utter thankfulness to this stranger. He called himself Steel. What he had to do with any type of metal was beyond her imagination. All she knew is that this rather tall being was the man who saved the life of one such as herself. The gentle breeze of the day brushed gently against her long and pointed ear as she remain in pain. As the distressed Elf female lay there with her mouth open just enough to get good deep breaths her hot breath tickled the air just above her. She inhaled and the muscles of her diaphragm caused her abdomen, or stomach, to expand and then to return to its previous state as she exhaled. Her breathing brought her great pain so she refrained from breathing too deeply even though she wanted all the air she could get. Laying upon the cold, hard ground she suffered through her troubles. Then, suddenly and seemingly from nowhere, the soil began to warm. This warmth spread to her heart and from there it stretched across her entire body, and as this happened she noticed a glow from the man's hands. He had knelt down before her and was healing her. 'Do Swashbucklers have healing skills? I don't think they do.'
A sudden energy now began to coarse through her system, and Gwenduial almost felt as though she could stand and stumble about if she so desired. It was not to be; however, as she still felt pain. Gwenduial decided it was time to display her shining to this young man. She brought back the corners of her mouth into a smile. Then without warning, her lips parted to a beautiful front-row of teeth that shone like the sun over a foam capped wave of the sea. She placed a hand against the man's own and grasped it, looking up at him. "Thank you. You've gone out of your way to waste time saving a helpless woman who would just have perished and respawned in the gargantuan cathedral back in town. I wish I could thank you more; however, it's not safe here and I'm not sure of a place I know that's safer than it would be here." She stated nervously as she eyes the slimes edging their way towards the location of the two. There were five, and all were of equal size and power to the previous one. It seemed as though they all wanted to squash the poor and weak Elf woman. She stuck her nearly absurdly long tongue out at him playfully as he apologized for picking her limp corpse off the ground. "You don't need to apologize." She said, returning her tongue to her mouth and put a weaker, toothless smile back on. Immediately after she had done so, he lept into the air.
Gwenduial started curiously at the ground as her savior flew from it and landed into a sturdy tree nearby. The enormous amorphous blobs of green ooze before them attempted to climb the tree but lacked any real anatomy that they required to do so. Soon later he returned them to the ground and laid her upon a tree. The warmth returned and she felt a lot more energy return to her. Listening to his short and humble introduction she'd blush. She had wanted to be the first to introduce themselves. "Hi Steel, my name is Gwenduial. Just in case you couldn't tell, I'm a level one Elf assassin. With all my heart I can tell you that I appreciate your actions and behavior towards me over the past little bit of time." She smiles greatly again and then proceeds to stroke the Half-Alv's arm with care. "You'll grow to be someone great with a heart like yours. I'm glad that I could be one of the stepping stones in that process." She had stated and she would cease to stroke his arm out of fear of seeming creepy to her new found friend here. As she began to remove her hand from his arm she slid it down into his hand and gave him a good, somewhat firm handshake. The feeling of formality between them was bugging her slightly as she never liked to be formal with anyone. She preferred it that everyone she met called her by her name, and not as Ms. Felspur or any other name along those lines of formality. Madame and mistress also came to mind on that end.
Gwenduial thought on the subject of formality a moment longer. How long would she wait before telling him to knock it off with the formalities and start calling her by her name? No, she decided it needed to be now. "You know, we didn't need to be so formal about the introduction. A hug would've been far better than a handshake. It doesn't feel right to have rewarded your heroic actions with a handshake and a friendly introduction. As I said a few moments ago, my name is Gwenduial and that is what I'd like you to call me by. Not that I know of anything else that you would defer to, but I feel the need to take the precaution." That was good, and she knew it. If that did not clear up her intention with their conversation and status with each other than nothing else would. That was as clear as she could be in regards to the subject. "Perhaps you'd like to get to know each other a little better? I'll start. My father introduced me to games and played them with me. I'm an only child so I got a lot of attention. In school I was that girl surrounded by guys all the time and it was a little embarrassing. I also wound up being invited to almost every party for a little friend of mine." She stuck her tongue out as far as it would go. "It's four inches long. That puts it up there with some of the longer ones in the world. I really only got invited to the parties for it so that the hosts would have a way to liven up the festivities. That is if the party ever got boring. Otherwise I was just there and nobody cared too much about my presence there. Ice cream cones were also my favorite food item for a pretty good reason. Now it's your turn to talk to me about you." She smiled and sat as she politely waited for a response from the Half-Alv Swashbuckler known as Steel. What he had any sort to do with metal was beyond her, but she did not really care about that.

Partially, Steel was feeling a little uncomfortable by this situation. The two had just met and she was already beginning to act friendly with him, perhaps a bit overly friendly to Steel. However, he kept these thoughts to himself and didn’t let it show on his face as the blonde elf thanked him once again and grabbed his hand, making him feel embarrassed. “Aren’t you overdramatizing all of this?” Steel asked with a slightly nervous smile and an anime sweat drop. “I told you earlier, I just did what any decent person would do to help another. She then motioned to the slimes. “Yeah, it’s not safe here, I know a safer location.” After his apology for suddenly picking her up, she had stuck out her long tongue at him out of playfulness saying that he didn’t need to apologize. Steel himself didn’t completely agree as he came from Japan where morals and such were a huge thing in his culture. “It was just a precaution, it’s not normal for people to feel no sense of uncomfortableness from being carried like you do.” He said in response before taking off into the trees. Soon after Steel introduced himself, the woman in front of him introduced herself as Gwenduial and the fact that she was a level 1 Assassin which was an obvious fact if one looked at her character screen. “It’s nice to meet you Gwenduial.” Steel responded with a friendly smile. It was then Gwenduial started thanking him once again with perhaps even more emotion than last time. Just how many times is she going to thank me? Steel wondered in his mind with an anime sweat drop. His train of thought was soon interrupted by Gwenduial all of a sudden beginning to gently stroke his arm, causing him to be both flustered from embarrassment and somewhat uncomfortable. What the heck is she doing now? Steel thought to himself with slight panic. People with his sort of condition weren’t so good with physical contact. His case was a light one so it wasn’t as bad as some others but it still felt strange and uncomfortable to Steel. This was a girl he just met and barely knew after all! He tried to concentrate on something else and that’s when Gwenduial began to talk again about how he would be a great person and that she was one of the stepping stones. “You know, when you say it like that, it sounds like I sacrificed you or something.” Steel said with yet another sweat drop. She then to Steel’s relief stopped stroking his arm and shook the hand he had held out earlier. With all that’s been happening, he sort of forgot about it. She seemed a bit put off by it though. It seems our comfort zones are relatively the opposite. Steel thought to himself in analysis She seems to feel more comfortable being informal and for me, it takes longer to get to that level. Ah well, might as well let her do what she wants, at least she doesn’t mean anything bad about it. He thought this with a slight smile as they finished their hand shake. Gwenduial’s next set of words confirmed Steel’s thoughts. She said they didn’t need to be so formal, even to the point of saying that a hug would be better than a handshake. Okay, so she’s a bit more touchy feely than I thought. Steel thought to himself while, like usual, making sure his thoughts didn’t show on his face. As Steel looked upon the girl’s face, he could tell that she was quite serious about being informal with each other. Steel just sighed a little before continuing to talk. “I get it, I won’t be so formal with you.” Steel said in response as his body relaxed somewhat, without a formal atmosphere around him. She then wanted to get to know each other better and began talking about herself. After she was finished, she asked about him. And so, Steel decided to respond. “I’m from Japan, I grew up with my parents and my little sister. In school, I was always the person who got ignored, a shadow in a sense. There were even some times when people forgot I was there. That seems to have remained even when I got here except when I’m in battle or when my Courtesan subclass skill activates. Unlike you, my tongue is normal. I learned martial arts from a young age, primarily Kendo and Kung Fu. Anything else you want to know about me?” Steel asked after talking about himself a little. He began to wonder where this was going to go as he healed her once more. Words: 785 Gwenduial
