[attr="class","pictureA"] LaviniaLevel 31: Enchanter Level 22: Pharmacist Level 11: Scholar Note: ... Lavinia had spotlight tag on the brain, you know the game. Out super late at night with flashlights trying to hide from the people with flashlights. A fun game, and a good way to get on the bad side of your neighborhood police. Lavinia remembers being out one night, really late, like 3am playing flashlight tag with her friends and having to run from the police through people's yards, over hedges and fences, good times were had by all. The best part was all she got was a grounding for a few days for being out so late, if her foster parents at the time found out she ran from the police things would have been much worse.
Anyway, Lavinia had been looking for an alchemist the last few days. A shop really, she was curious what kind of wares they sold. Lavinia knew someone invented a flashlight, and wanted one, but what other interesting gadgets have they come up with? Even more so since she had an idea of her own, but more on that later. She had learned of such a shop, owned by a certain assassin she had the pleasure of fighting with a long time ago. Lavinia was very different then, even more naive than she is now, not to mention a completely different class and a new red hair style, Lavinia wondered if Tess would recognize her.
Standing in front of what she would guess is the shop, Lavinia was rather impressed by the place, it looked nice. Lavinia stopped to read the chalkboard sign near the entrance before she pushed on in. This was not a place for someone like Lavinia to be, all the gadgets, trinkets and anything else on display, Lavinia wanted to push all the buttons... Or that's one way to put how she feels. "I want to tinker with everything..." she whispered, with that point made, Lavinia wandered around the shop looking, but not touching everything of interest. She wanted to take everything and disassemble it and see if she can figure out how it works, then end up with an extra screw or something. Lavinia didn't see Tess, but then again she'd be hard to miss with how fascinated Lavinia is with everything in the shop.

Wandering about her shelves, Tessia hummed happily and adjusted this or dusted that. She really enjoyed having such a small little splendor of a place to herself. It really made one feel like they had got somewhere in this crazy new world. Luck would have it, that she even had joined a new guild, even though at first she hadn't really wanted too. Her family had taught her simple things, make your days worth in sweat and labor. Be rewarded with the fruit of the land and honest warm hearted people that wouldn't mind sheltering you during a storm. As much as she hated the the idea of a guild, she thought it too be a wonderful chance to expand her shop, maybe even make some new wonders.
Tessia had been moving about her open Bazzar area, monitoring her humming Mana Liner Shield on its display armor and dummy. She noticed had came into her shop and was moving about the display for her eventual Mana Edge idea. Scooting on over, and having the intent of hiding the idea less they look through those scrolls, she moved in front of the red head and said, "Hello there and welcome too my shop! [smile] What kind of project are you working on?" She didn't quite recognize this girl, though something about her appearance kept nagging as her memory. Deftly bumping the scrolls from the table she was glad the rolled from view and onto a chair out of sight.

[attr="class","pictureA"] LaviniaLevel 31: Enchanter Level 22: Pharmacist Level 11: Scholar Note: ... Lavinia jumps with a start as Tess comes into view to greet the enchantress. She wasn't expecting the assassin to just show up, well it should be expected but Lavinia didn't expect it. "Hey Tessia! It's been awhile. How have you been?" she says smiling at her old combat buddy. Lavinia didn't get a chance to really get to know Tess several months ago, it was just accomplish their mission and that was it. But now Lavinia and Tess had a chance to work together again.
Once the introductions and how have you beens were done Lavinia decided to get down to business. "Well, I was looking to purchase a flashlight and I wanted to talk to you about something. But first, what is that?" she says pointing to Tess' dummy. Some kind if shield obviously, a force field like from the science fiction movies or so Lavinia thought. She also thought she could hear it hum, which wouldn't be all that surprising since almost anything in here would hum if it was on, I think.
Once the fawning over the shield was complete now onto the good parts. Lavinia had an idea for a item, a combat braver sort of thing or that's how she was imagining it that would take the wears mana and condense it into a projectile. The item has combat applications like allowing range attacks, but still being able to have a hand free to manipulate things with the hand. But it would also allow for the user to switch to another weapon without having to put the first away, making the swap that much quicker. Taking out her notebook Lavinia flips through the pages until she finds her notes on this very idea. The page has notes on features and possible ways to create such features and a sketch of the item itself. The sketch is rough, amateur at best but should give a decent idea of the concept and the notes including the math are somewhat right and somewhat not and will need to be fixed. Lavinia hands the notebook to Tess for inspection "So, what do you think?" she asks hoping for a good reply for her concept.

It was good too see a old friend that she knew. Tessia had been on assignment to help clear out a Kobold infestation that was near the City and Lavina had helped with that. Looking at her now, she was quite the beauty. Though she had a weak spot for flamboyant hair color, Lavinia remained the same cheery little lady. She had to admit she was pretty, though Tessia had to subdue that thought before it made any foothold in her mind. Better she keep her friends, not hit on them that was just rude. Odd that she would show up here though, the thought on her class changes Tessia approved of. One always should keep their options open, less they become stagnant in thinking they have to stay the way they are.
Listening to her inquiry about the Mana Liner Shield, Tessia was again taken aback by how many showed interest in the simple device. "Well, Lavinia, the device as I'm sure you can tell is a self generating shield made of mana. Its powered by a enclosed circuit of extracted mana filaments attached to Diodes and fused with the armor in question. It emits a kind of field that restricts force through it, and allows for armor to be temporarily stronger. However, lately I haven't been able to increase that timer or make it more effective. It also shuts down fore about a hour, but soon turns back on once its gathered enough of the users residual mana."
After saying that mouthful, Tessia sighed a bit as the other customers left leaving her and Lavinia alone. t would be a good a time as any to try something new. Her own recreation of those legendary artifacts would have too wait. "So, it was a flashlight to be made yes? I can do that. But first, tell me about this new item idea of yours. If you are to use your one time shop freebie, I would rather it be for one of my shields. I can help with the idea too since I do have a Steam Stove to aid in the creation of new items." She smiled pleasantly too her friend, glad to see someone she knew decently. Both in and out of combat. Listening to what Lavinia said next, Tessia moved about her shop to gather a few of the higher grade materials and some level one ones. Since if they were to attempt something, lower level items where ideal to lower cost.

Lavinia looked at Tess' mana shield thingy with aw and wonderment as her friend explained what it was. What Tess explained reminded Lavinia of the force fields in those sci-fi movies, star voyage or something. It was just cool, it made Lavinia want to try alchemy for herself. "You really invented this? By yourself? Wow Tess, that's awesome! Add one of these to the list too." she says excitedly, Tess' invention made Lavinia want to finish her own invention. Or at least her first one, after all she had a list and wanted to eventually get through them all.
Watching Tess gather materials Lavinia wondered what a steam oven was, it was obviously some kind of alchemy item. Maybe it was some way to make all the fancy items like the diodes or whatever they were called, Lavinia didn't have a clue. "Well, I guess I should start by telling you what I want and we can work from there. I would like to make a new weapon type. Something that allows you to still use your hands without having to put down your staff or sheath your sword. Something that would allow me to pick a herb from the ground then instantly turn and use it to attack. But also allow you to wield other weapons if you want without having to Unequip it. I was imagining it kind of like a bracket or something. So give it to me straight, is this even possible or am I just crazy?" she says explaining her idea laughing a bit at the end at her own lack of confidence. Lavinia looked at Tess waiting for a reply, maybe she'll say no this can't be done, maybe she'll try it and it explodes and then she says it can't be done who knows.

As she listened too her friends description, Tessia had to admire Lavinia's commitment too her ideas. The girl wanted to attempt a way around the games mechanics just like she had sought too make a item that would make one's armor stronger. Lavinia had come too the right person, Tessia loved to make things that would affect or stretch rules but still allow the item too exist. Too make something like this, it would most likely have to make use of both their classes. Something that would bypass a weapon yet still be offensive as one? A fun little challenge.
"Well, as long as you'll pay for the level item you'd like, I can make you a decent Mana Liner Shield. But as far as the item your suggesting, its just a matter of making it out of a category that already exists. If you'd like it too mimic magical items, I would need one to pull the attributes from in order to replicate them. Such as a a staff or Grimore. And as afar as what it will be, I was thinking maybe some nail polish or some type of adhesive. For a alchemic item too work it needs access too ones mana. Maybe as a nail coverage it could still be powered correctly and still function as well? As is, I need too know which we are doing first, the item or your Shield? So we can talk and work at the same time.
Smiling a bit, Tessia gathered a few more of the required items for the Mana Liner Shield and scooted them onto her Steam Ovens pentagram top. Wondering if Lavinia had any of the Magician items on her for her too replicate. Such a process would be difficult but not impossible in the least. and if it worked they would have a neat little accessory too show everyone that could replace the need for a weapon. At least for magic users.
