Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________ "Honest pay for honest work," the rugged Half-alv bar owner said as he dropped a handful of coin into Saskia’s palm. The Wolf Hair nodded politely, picked up her sword, and turned away from the tavern., with her companion, Awatsuki.
Rushwood had been a lucky find. Small and tucked between high rock faces, she could have easily missed it. She'd taken to working at the bar for the past five weeks. She still felt like an outsider, but the locals asked few questions and treated her well enough. In return for their hospitality, Saskia didn't take a full wage at the Inn, and unbeknown to the villagers, she would scout the area around Rushwood after sundown. She'd chased off a lone wolf, and brought back a dozen rabbits, but little else. Still, it gave her peace of mind.
Crossing the water, she gave a small nod to Sairilis. The elf chatted to her on occasion, and she listened politely, though there was little else to their relationship beyond that. She had considered asking the huntsmen if he had any expert knowledge on archery, given his people's knack for the bow, but she had decided it might raise suspicion, and would probably not do her much use anyway.
There wasn't a crossbow to be found in Rushwood. Though it was a nice change not to be armed all the time, Saskia felt a little incomplete without a ranged weapon. She had spent her first wage on some proper clothes and an iron sword, and though she was trained in melee too, ranged combat was where she felt most comfortable. If anything should happen, she preferred to know he had more than one method of attack at his disposal.
When the sun fell, Saskia retrieved her blade from the inn and set out into the thin forest to the south of the little village. Without a bow, she found hunting exceedingly more difficult, though she managed to bait a rabbit after only an hour, which she tied to her belt. On a whim she took a turn towards Niana's cabin. She felt a little sorry for the old woman living on her own, and made sure to check up occasionally. She wasn't sure she could defend herself should any wild animals stray too close to her home. At least the village itself had some stout men who knew how to swing a blade.
When she passed by, she found her sat outside. She smiled at Saskia, tucking her black robes a little tighter around her neck. "Hello again dear. So nice to have visitors," she said a little vaguely. Saskia nodded amiably, though didn't stop to talk. She was welcoming enough, but the pink cotton candy haired wolf hair got the feeling she liked her privacy.
Walking out behind her cabin, Saskia glanced up at the barrow looming down from atop the mountain to her right. It was surely an eerie thing to behold, and mired in centuries of superstition. Why anyone so concerned with its stories would live beneath its shadow was beyond her, but the Landers had their ways and she didn't lay question to them.
The sound of a scuffle up ahead roused her from her contemplation of the ruin. She drew her blade, just to be safe, and approached the crest ahead of her. What she found was certainly more serious than the wounded deer or the sparring wolves she'd expected.
A man in mage's robes was pinned by a large wolf, the creature's sharp teeth digging deep into his gut. He was alive, and made all the sound in the world to show it, writhing and crying out in agony. One bloodied hand tried to push the creature off to no avail, while the other reached in vain for a steel mace that had fallen just too far away.
Saskia ran to his aid immediately. Her blade cut a deep gash in the wolf's back, and when it rolled to one side in shock she stabbed it through the chest. It was felled in moments, bursting into colorful anima bubbles, but each second was agonizing as the wounded man bled out. The Wolf hair knelt beside the injured Fox Tail, his stomach lacerated. It had been a long time since Saskia had seen a man with his insides out. She dropped her blade to one side and summoned a healing spell. The gold light lit the Fox Tail's face; he could have only been in his 30s at most.
As she tried to stitch the man back together with weak magic, she cast an eye over the area further back. Another wolf lay dead, bludgeoned by the mace. And then behind it rested a pile of bones, from at least three complete skeletons, a scattering of ancient weapons protruding from beneath them. Saskia had never faced undead, though she did not imagine they proved an easy foe. Anything that had already been felled once must know not to go down in the same way again. And for this man to have stood against undead, only to be bested by wolves.
A limp hand pressed to his slender wrist, staining her skin with blood. The Foxtail lowered his hands, and Saskia ceased her useless effort to heal the man. "Do you fight for the light, sister?"
The question meant nothing to her, but for whatever reason Saskia told him "yes." With what must have been waning strength, the man pulled an amulet from his neck and pushed it towards the Wolf Hair. She looked at the small bronze horn looped to the chain, and took it.
"None escape the Startford Wardens. All come into the light."
The man drew no breath after that and his body began to illuminate, prompting her to realize that he was indeed, a lander. Saskia knelt beside him for a time, studying the amulet of Avon. She didn't know what words the man would have wanted him to speak, so she spoke none. Aside from the amulet, he bore nothing distinctive, and Saskia supposed he would have no means through which to find and inform a family, if there was one. It seemed a hopeless thought.
Saskia sighed. She was used to death, but this was not quite the same as she was used to. She felt, despite not even knowing his name, respect for the man who had fallen, presumably seeking out the darker creatures of the land. It was a noble cause, more noble than serving drinks. And for whatever reason before she left the virtual grave site, Saskia tied the amulet around her neck.
She turned her head to look up at Awatsuki, examing how this might have affected her, before her eyes rose up to notice another figure in the distance. Had she seen the whole thing?

Elizabeth had been moving through the game almost on autopilot, since the Apocalypse. She'd been doing minor work here and there, but hadn't bothered with any combat or anything strenous really. She hadn't really made up her mind if this was really a dream, or if reality had completely changed. She definitely knew that she was in Elder Tales, but she couldn't log out. And that her senses were fully loaded into the game, along with her conciousness. Still it wasn't all bad...at least she didn't have to hear anything from her nagging parents. She stretched herself out and looked down at her body, for the at least the third time today. It definitely was better looking than her actual one. Though she did miss her long black hair, she had wanted an avatar that would fit in more. She opted for something that looked more english, and ended up with this one. Still, it wasn't bad...at least she had looks and could kick butt. Elizabeth had been moving through the forest for the last few minutes, not really paying attention to where she was going, till a noise had caught her attention.
She quickened her pace towards it, but by the time she arrived all the ruckus had died down. She watched quietly as the Lander said his dying words and passed the amulet on to a pink haired warrioress. When the girl turned and looked up to her, Elizabeth spooked a bit. Her little jump, made her lose her footing and slide down the embankment and land not far from the other two. She winced a bit, and sat their rubbing her legs. "Itai..." She rubbed her shins before looking up at them. Though saying she looked at them would be odd, since her eyes were closed. She had always wondered how anime characters got away with it, now she was living it. Either way she hopped up and quickly dusted herself. "Gomen...uhhh sorry." She had never usually had issues with keeping to chatting in English before, but now that she was really here in the world, it seemed to always slip out. She put an across her belly, extended her other arm out, and put one foot back and bowed at the waist. "My name is Elizabeth. Nice to meet you."

The world of Elder Tales still proved mysterious to Seth, despite his best attempts to familiarize himself with the setting forced upon him. Making use of his subclass Cavalier, Seth has been riding around on horse back with no current objective other than to explore. The most recent time he checked his in-game map he found himself wandering around unknown lands, and upon realizing this he also realized he doesn't have a clue on how to get back to where he started. "Perfect, I've gotten myself lost." Seth stated aloud, despite there being no one nearby to hear him. "Well if I'm lost, I might as well get to know the land I'm lost in" he said aloud once more, and proceeded to turn his horse towards the East in order to explore.
After some time the sun finally set, and still Seth had neither a clue of where he particularly was nor a sense of how to get home. Thankfully he's gotten used to the horse back riding now, feeling more relaxed and comfortable instead of uneasy and stiff. He's never rode a horse before either in real life or the game, yet Seth is able to navigate the horse around as if he was a trained to do so, although he hasn't exactly mastered it quite yet.
Upon stopping by a nearby lake to rest and try to find a way to get back home, Seth noticed his horse appeared distressed, as if something spooked his horse. "What's the matter?" Seth asked his horse. What answered was not the horse, but a sudden cry of pain that faintly ringed in Seth's ear from a distance. The screaming persisted on until Seth decided that whoever was yelling like that was definitely in trouble and needed assistance, and so he hopped on his horses back and rode towards the sound as best as he could.
Upon entering the scene however, Seth found himself to be too late, watching from afar the slow death of another, yet he couldn't tell whether it was a player or a person of the land. He did recognize, or at least thought he did, the one attempting to heal the man back to strength yet to no avail, yet could not recognize the other one things unfold in front of her. "I recognize her... but from where?" Seth thought to himself. Before he could go down and investigate however another person entered in, a clumsy girl who recovered from a sudden fall into the scene and introduced herself. "Might as well go down there myself and figure out what I can do for them" Seth thought to himself. Despite being fearful of meeting others for the first time, Seth demanded to know what happened to cause the death of another and how he could help, and so he rose up and lead his horse down to the scene in order to introduce himself and see what he can do for them.

| Stars Can't,
Shine without darkness.
"Honest pay for honest work," Are the words Awatsuki heard together with Saskia from the Half-alv bar owner. Currently changed by her [Form Shift] spell she stands there, her long hair changed into red and white color, tied into an unique hairstyle with single black ribbon. It seems that Awatsuki was slightly higher now too. Over her shoulder there was a Sarum Progressive Rifle hanging on a leather strap. It was a nice piece equipment, maybe even one of the best rifles which were aviable. In the leather poach on her belt there was the ammo for it hidden it it's five round clips.
As they walk outside Awatsuki Yawns lightly and adjusts her gear. It's been just a day since she joined Saskias guild and started her new journey into locations unknown to her. She never stayed in larger group too long and was engaged in just a few group fights. She looks around cautiously holding the rifle in her hands, listening to the sounds of the forest and river. As the group crosses the river Saskia gave a small nod to Sairilis. The elf was talking about something and she was listening simply.
As we investigated earlier there wasn't a crossbow to be found in Rushwood. It seemed that Saskia felt insecure without a ranged weapon. Awatsuki was a little worried about her companion so she poked her to assure her that everything will be okay. It was the kind of grinn which assures others with the message "leave this to me".
The sun fell soon. Awatsuki was waiting outside the inn for Saskia to retrieve her blade in the inn. Finally they set their way into the forrest. Walking through the tall forrest grass and bushes we separate for a while to Hunt some nice animals. Awatsuki sneaked through the forrest with her blade in her hand and after an hour she managed to kill a smaller deer. She looted it's contents and continued to walk to meet up with Saskia. Finally she got to Niana's cabin only a little moment after saskia. Quickly greeting the lady there and continuing in the same way Saskia did catching up with her soon.
Suddenly Awatsuki heard the sound of a scuffle up ahaead and prepared herself to shoot raising her rifle and following Saskia. However soon she heard other sounds behind her and turned around. When Saskia disappeard Awatsuki heard sounds of combat. However she had to be concerned about her own fight since three wolves aproached her.
Standing cautiously and watching them she spent a while. Then finally the first wolf rushed forwards. She quickly aimed on his head looking on his forehead through the sights and pulled the trigger. With a loud bang the rifle fired the bullet piercing wolfs flesh and skull killing him instantly. That provoked the other two wolves to attack. Awatsuki swung her rifle with a step to side cuasing on wolf to miss hitting the other one into the left side of its head lowering its hp a little. She reloaded the rifle ejecting the empty round from the bolt group loading another one in and aimed on the other wolf when it landed. Thank's to the wolves not being to high level they didn't stand a chance against the new [Sarum Progressive Rifle]. She pulled the trigger again killing other wolf too. The third one seemed quite inteligent since it retreated to the forest. Awatsuki standed straight and reloaded the rifle a second empty round ringing on the stone paving in theese ruins. Quickly she grabbed two cartridges from her poach and loaded them into the rifle rinning towards the location where Saskia disappeared.
Awatsuki came just in the time when Saskia was healing the man. She slided the rifle to her back running towards her and kneeling besides her. "Will he be okay?" Awatsuki asked silently. The foxtail lowered his arms and asked saskia if she fights for the light. Saskia asked with a single yes. I will make shure she wouldn't have to fight in the darkness... Awatsuki thinks to herself as she watches this scene. The man gave Saskia an amulet and pushed it towards her. Awatsuki looks on it good. It was small bronze horn looped to chain. Saskia took it in her hand.
"None escape the Startford Wardens. All come into the light."
The man drew no breath after that and his body began to illuminate, prompting her to realize that he was indeed, a lander. Awatsuki knelt beside Saskia as she knelt beside the lander for a time, studying the amulet of Avon.
Saskia sighed. Awatsuki was looking silently on the man with a look used to death. It wasn't cold. More like accepting the harsh reality of this world. Awatsuki then turned around to see the distant figure. A girl fell down there and mumbled. "Itai..." Awatsuki heard. Is she japaneese? She thought quickly. Shee looked up to Awatsuki and Saskia standing up and dusted off her clothes. "Gomen...uhhh sorry." She mumbled while apologizing. Definitely Japanese... And an airhead. Awatsuki thought.
She smiled friendly on the clumsy girl and extended her hand to her to help her. "日本語... 話せるの? (You can speak Japanese, can't you?)" I say with a smile as I look on her. "私の名前は 泡月 沈利 す. (My name is Awatsuki Shizuri) 始めまして.(Nice to meet you). I introduce myself and bow lightly with a smile.

Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________
Saskia began to gaze over Awatsuki’s face, she notices the same thousand yard stare, the soul of the Assassin’s eyes were far too familiar. They were like her own now. An held a much darker gleam in contrast to the lighting of the sun that illuminated her pale skin. She wondered how long in this world did it take her to realize the fragility of the Landers, who were not spared the fortune of eternal life, like the grand deities they worshipped. Saskia watched as she embraced the bitterness of accepting a fallen brother. Whether she barely knew the man or not, as a shield sister, she would know what his final thoughts must have been after enduring so many battles. He probably thought of how his wife or daughter, possibly some newborn, would be able to support themselves since he would no longer be with them. He probably thought about the last romantic dinner he had with his loved one, or possibly the last feast she shared with his shield brother. He probably thought about how he never could have imagine rolling out of bed this morning, the same as anyone else, but not knowing that today would be his last before he perished. What marks had he left behind? What would he have done differently if he only knew the sands of life in his hourglass were waning?
Saskia felt a slight sensation of remorse, she knew that possibly if she had not stopped to indulge in meaningless greetings, perhaps they would have crossed paths sooner, she might have been able to untangle the web of fate that spun around him and choked the life out of him. His dying breath echoed throughout her mind as she frowned at Awatsuki. She was used to the woman’s new form as it was highlighted by the signature of scarlet red hair that descended into ash white highlights near the bottom. It had a slight symbolism to Saskia as it looked like a phoenix rising out of the ashes. Saskia was proud of how fast Awatsuki had grown. She soared through the levels and was now level 20 and had a whole new array of skills and clever talents. She had endured the rough tutelage of training by becoming her own mentor. She was a self-motivated individual that reminded Saskia much like one of her other members. Luiniel, her Samurai friend, who she found training day and night in the forest.Saskia gazed at the rifle that hung around her shoulders.
So, Shizuri-sama’s picked up some new toys since she’s been gone. Well, that sure looks a hell of a lot better than a crossbow...so now she’s packing dual katana’s and a ranged weapon. That definitely increases her versatility. And from the sounds of those crying wolves, she’s actually a pretty damn good shot...
She slowly drifts her eyes over the rifle, inspecting it, and notices that it’s up to par with the woman’s level. It’s design was far more superior than Bailin’s ram and rod powder pusher. Her boyfriend carried an old school musket that looked like it was better used hanging on some exhibit on the wall of a museum for the American Revolutionary War. Guns in this world had not developed as far as in the modern world they lived in. Guns were often single shot only, which made bolt action rifles the prime source of weaponry. Saskia grinned however, at the idea of working in tandem with Vylbrand’s militarized engineering unit, King’s German Engineering, and producing more high tech weaponry to go into battle with. She had just partnered with an Innovative Alchemist named Tessia, whom designed a Mana Liner Shield for her, which on demand added an extra layer of defense to protect against a single incoming strike. Which was vital in combat with an enemy who was slow and heavy hitting, dishing out heavy damage in a single strike. The mana liner that wrapped around her platemail hummed with a flourescent pink metalliic glow, though it had not been activated yet.
She drifted her eyes away from Awatsuki as she heard a rumbling in the area. She stood up quickly, casting a vigilant glare at the newcomer, her hand on the hilt of her sword, that rested in the royal blue scabbard that was embroidered in gold lacing around the outer edges. The woman had appeared to be ignorant of the situation that had just occurred as she so kindly introduced herself after sliding on her knees. She seemed to speak a few Japanese phrases, which Awatsuki had quickly picked up on, as she began speaking Japanese back at the girl. Saskia knew a few words and tried to hang in there, but her accent and dialect was a bit off.
“Watashi wa Saskia Steelheart. Why are you traveling in these lands alone? It isn’t safe here. The monsters here are much more aggresive than the docile creatures in the southern parts of the for-..”
Saskia lifted up a curious brow as she saw a lone strider approaching, she had a photographic memory and knew his face, he was rather unique in design but she remembered him as a quiet individual that kept to himself mostly, perhaps now was a good a time as any to forge friendships.
“Hey, there, where do I know you from? By any chance were you a cadet at the Vylbrand Academy of Tactics, Mystics, and Trade? I thought I saw you in one of Professor Bailin’s courses. Sitting in the back, If I remember correctly? You didn’t bother to partner up with anyone while you went out training? You know that steed at you level isn’t much help in combat. It takes a while to breed a warhorse...took me weeks with my colt, Icarus. But they are excellent allies in combat. And if you ever catch yourself indeep shit, they are definitely the ones who are able to bail you out of it...”
Saskia smiled gently as her fingers strummed gently across the hilt of her sword. Her mind began to wander as she looked back to the empty spot where the man's body once lied. In his stead, was a tattered and worn journal with an emblem of Avon on it, with some caked on dried blood stains dotted around the edges. Saskia squinted and reached a hand over to pick it up, shaking the dust off it gently, about to inspect it's contents.

Elizabeth blinked a bit and waved her hands in front of her a bit. "Uh...no need to speak Japanese. English is quite alright." She smiled a bit, and brushed a few strands of hair back in place. Before being quickly interogated by the female knight, who had introduced herself as Saskia Steelheart. "Uh, well I....ummm was just wondering around. I haven't really been paying attention...much." She rubbed her head a little bit and quickly stepped back as the woman turned her attention to someone else. She stood next to the assassin named Awatsuki. She carefully stepped closer and began talking with her in a hushed tone. "Is she always like that?" It was a simple question, though it might not have been specific enough. Still she preferred not to get on anyone's bad side. Live and let live. Besides that, she wasn't one to like showing off or anything like that. Pacifism was a much simpler and easier life than always fighting, and always competing. Did it mean she was weak, maybe, but then again the few people who said that and tried to do something about that, ended up face down in the dirt. Still, this group was higher level than her...and she didn't wanna test their patience or their hospitality. She stretched a bit and yawned, having walked awhile without getting much sleep.
Or food. It was right then that her stomach decided to make those unflattering noises of needing food. "Eh...uh heh heh. Excuse me. It's been quite awhile since I had anything to eat." She scratched her face with a finger a bit, as a blush colored her cheeks. Of course what was weirder was the fact that she was a chef by trade in this game, yet she generally went hungry. Hard to find places to make food if you don't go out and travel, and level up. Even some of the restaurants back in the spawn town were getting requirements for hiring. How stingy of them, she thought to herself. "You wouldn't happen to know where we could grab some food, would you?" She looked between Saskia and Awatsuki.

As Seth approached the sudden gathering of people, their faces became clearer to him. He finally recognized the girl that attempted to heal the man as Saskia, one of the founders of the Guild he has recently joined in. He remembered attending a class with her helping run it, and her presence allowed him to breathe a little easier about confronting the group. The other two however he made no recognition of whatsoever, only being able to recognize them as both female, with one being a Monk and the other an Assassin. As he came forward he noticed that Saskia was trying to tell him something, and upon being with earshot he realized she recognized him as well. She began to inform him of how useless his horse would be in combat at his level, of which Seth already realized when his horse, Hammett, ditched him for a while upon being confronted by a measly wolf. Seth ran instead of fighting in that encounter, as he felt he still wasn't comfortable for combat, so he hid and waited for his horse to return to him.
Back in the present, after Saskia was done rambling about Seth's horse, Seth was prepared to respond. However after noticing that Saskia's attention grew elsewhere, he decided just to drop it and instead turned towards the Assassin and Monk conversing with each other, something about food he believed. "Um, sorry to interrupt," Seth started, "But do either of you mind informing on the situation? I don't mean any harm, just curious as to how I can help."
