"I wonder how close this is to the London back home." Xylef did not know to many people as he had only recently found himself in the world of Elder Tale, but he had fun talking to himself if nothing else. In the corner of his vision the old worn out sign of a pub taunted Xylef, however at the time he did not have enough gold to spare for luxuries. Due to the circumstances Xylef was weary about going out and risking death just to farm levels, so he decided that he would first find his way around town and perhaps talk to some people in order to possibly gain a few allies, that way he could go out of the city without being in total danger. While the pub would be a good place to meet new faces it wouldn't be the best place to actually get to know someone, especially if alcohol retained it's effects in Elder Tale. What better place to meet sober people than the market? Xylef asked himself as he adjusted his course towards here he had previously been told the market was. Supposedly it was only a few blocks down and even if Xylef was moving the the wrong direction he would still be learning more about the city. Each building he walked past seemed like a marvel whether made of stone or wood, or some mixture of materials. Every step sent feelings just as real as out of the game and the only thing distinguishing life from the game were menus. It wouldn't be true to say that Xylef was unhappy with his life back home, but he enjoyed this far more than anything he had experienced in the real world. As he continued to walk Xylef eyed the trees and every individual leaf glistened like a precious gem, every tree made Xylef want to see forests and meadows in this world all the more. Each thing he saw was so realistic yet at the same time so surreal, in admiring the beauty Xylef would to not even notice if he was about to run into someone. Fortunately Xylef didn't run into anyone or anything, but he did find himself smack int he middle of the market that he was looking for. One stall which was selling fruit and vegetables caught Xylef's fancy and he quickly began to make his way there.
"Hello What can I get you today?" a friendly voice called out just as Xylef got to the stall.
"Just a couple apples for the road." Xylef grabbed couple of apples and looked to the man running the stall as if to ask the cost of each apple.
"That will be four gold" The shopkeeper said as Xylef made the transaction. This world was in many ways like real life, but some things were harder to do due to the menu and in the same way some things were easier. If one thing was to be for sure it was that Xylef wasn't making it out of this game any time soon and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Xylef had learned pretty quickly that food from the menu was nearly inedible, but fruits and vegetables tasted just fine, so he opted to take fruit to the stale taste of anything in the menu. Xylef went back to thinking about adventuring outside of the city, but decided he would wait for the first idiot to go and get himself killed to see if players revived or didn't. Xylef believed that knowledge is power and knew that at this point in time knowledge was something he severely lacked. So Xylef decided he would approach someone who didn't seem to be busy and ask "Do you know where I can get some knowledge? I'm new around here so anything to help would be nice."
"Well everyone knows you can get all kinds of knowledge at a pub, but I get the feeling that's not what you're looking for." The man said in an energetic tone. The man had obviously not had the best of life, and was likely one of the people of the land, but Xylef felt that it was more likely that one of the people of the land would know about this situation either way.
"Well I would prefer someplace quieter where fewer people want to mindlessly punch your teeth out." Xylef joked in an attempt to lighten the mood, the aura surrounding this man was odd, perhaps Xylef was just on edge because he didn't know much about where he was or who he was talking to, but Xylef kept his wits about him nonetheless.
"I have to agree that loosing teeth isn't he most favorable of approaches, but why would an old geezer like me know about how to get information" The strange man spoke with a lighthearted tone.
"Old geezer? You look barely older than I am" Xylef replied truthfully even if such a remark would be used in an attempt at modesty for many situations.
"Well look The best place to gain information is not the safest place to gain information. The people who know the most are often found in back alleys, sewers and the like. If you really want information walk one block down turn left and then the third left will lead you to what looks like a dead end you'll find an entrance there." After he finished the man seemed intent on not staying around any longer and thus he turned and left. Xylef stood pondering the mans words. There's a good chance that it's a trap and if it's not, there's a good chance it's not safe, but I can't stand by in ignorance. Xylef felt like an idiot going to this place, but he couldn't back down. So Xylef followed directions and not long he found himself in, as the man said a dead end. I'm looking for an entrance, but where? Xylef looked down and he saw what should have been obvious a sewer entrance. He climbed down and found himself in a barely lit area with little sign of life. Xylef looked around and on the wall he found "Those who travel to the beat of silence will find their way." Xylef stood puzzled for a moment, but quickly remembered what he had to do. "silent move." Xylef whispered. He then took his time in working his way down the corridor. It was quite some time until the path hit a fork or bend, but Xylef walked on as if he had to. Each step made the putrid smell of waste and garbage even more potent causing Xylef to have second thoughts about coming down here, but he resolved to carry on. Once he hit the first fork Xylef looked for another clue along the wall, but struggled to find one until on the left wall he saw a clue "Two boats sailing, one is sent star-bound the other to port." Port is left I think. Xylef ponders for a second before resolving to take the left path. Xidkoh didn't even have enough time to notice that he was walking into a trap as a light flashed in his eyes and his reality faded to black.
