Everything he knew about alchemy was wrong, that was the impression Cedric got when he started to look into the things he could build with his Alchemy subclass. At the time of character creation the only thing he had really registered about it was the name, as he figured that whatever the class was, it probably oriented around the sort of things he'd seen people make with the D&D skill. That mostly meant chemical concoctions and interesting substances that could do a variety of things, from sticky fire and acids to substances that restricted movements and created thick obscuring smoke. Suffice to say that when he opened up his menus and started seeing things about wires and mana crystals and other things that reminded him more of electronics than Alchemy, Jane's face fell into a scowl. The process didn't sound as exciting or mystical as she'd hoped for from the name the subclass had, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to give it a try.
Considering she didn't even have anything to work with in the first place Jane had to resort to the crafting menu, going through the list of things that she'd be able to make at her level and look around at the things she had access to. At first it seemed like everything was a component of something else, though as she looked through the details she saw that quite a few of the basic components were made out of even more basic components, to the point where she'd find it very easy just to try and combine things with other things until she got something a bit more interesting, not that it would really do anything.
The only thing on the list she seemed able to pull together without other components however, was a Mana Fragment. Little bits of mana that would disappear suddenly if you tried to touch them. Cedric noted that down in the back of his head as he considered the best way to handle the item before trying to create it. The tool tip didn't mention much about tools causing this effect, but at the same time it didn't mention that tools would be able to avoid it either. It sounded like she'd probably need something special, tools of the trade maybe, or just tools that she'd somehow designed to avoid this issue.
A little bit of investigation was needed, or maybe just a visit to a library, there was bound to be someone out there that knew, especially considering all the people she'd seen out and about who were pretty high level these days. Cedric figured the best place to look would be St. Pancras Station, a place that had been shown to him by one of the higher level players he'd been thinking of, but sadly not someone he could ask about Alchemy. The only issue with the plan was that whole 'speaking to someone' part. Cedric didn't like going out and dealing with new people, and of all the new people to talk to, higher level people were all the more intimidating. It was with a very deep, calming breath that the little Guardian strode out in search of information, yet still she shook with excitement and fear.

Heretic - Apprentice - Alchemist ____________________________________________________
Widow coughed roughly into her hand. She had developed a cold over spending her lonely nights resting in the old abandoned trains that filled the subway tracks on the streets. She lied with the rest of the meager bums, crooks, and drug addicts that littered the subway station and seemed oddly apathetic about their presence.
Though the foul odor that erupted from the smell of the musty train cart lingered in the air and burned her nostrils, she seemed to be used to it.
The dark history that plagued Widow was the fact that she lived a greater quarter of her life as a prisoner deep within the mines of Sarum.
She could still hear the sinuous cries of the tortured inmates as they had been dragged or beaten, before being locked away in caged like animals.
Her eyes dilated to the light as she reflected upon being masked in darkness for so long.
Without food or water to nurse to her dry, cracked lips.
A rumbling growl echoed through her belly as she hunched over in her seat.
She had skipped dinner the night prior, due to having too little money.
There was a drunken dwarven bum next to her that reeked of booze and vomit and she cut her eyes at the sight, observing the hairy belly button that protruded from the exposure below his tunic.
She rose up from her resting place, leaving behind her ‘roomate’ and made her way down to the bronze tracks.
She made her way to a small alchemy lab in the town as she walked the streets in her tattered robes. She kept her steps light to try and mask her movement as she weaved between the crowded streets, snaking past a robed Half-Alv and a Ritualist scholar.
Her eyes intensely focused on the shards of cracked glass upon the building. Her icy emerald green eyes then rose up to the sight of what appeared to be a blonde haired woman with white skin.
She locked eyes with her for a moment, as she turned her head, making her unkempt ash white hair rustle against her shoulders.
She walked into the alchemy lab and began to sit in a stool and withdrew her personal journal of devious designs as she made marking in elvish letters on her notebook.
She added annotations to her previous work which she had developed a prototype model for a scope and was also making notes about the mana liner shield design that she had learned from watching her employer, Tessia, who owned the Alchemy shop she worked at, make.
She silently scribbled away, and then she began to retrieve the satchel full of alchemical contents she had pilfered from the shop she worked at and began emptying the bags contents on table. There were several diodes, filaments, and lamps among other raw materials.
However, Widow would start her simple project by whispering an elven incantation.
“Sana termara en' templa”(Mana Vampire)
As she muttered the phrase, a beautiful emerald [Mana Fragment] protruded from her palm as she grasped it lightly, making ever so careful to be gentle with it. She placed it on the desk in front of her and then began to take the two light bulbs in front of her and crack them on the table like eggshells.
Scooping the broken glass into a recyling bin, she took the filaments and began to twine them together to create [Reinforced Wire]

It didn't take Jane that long to get to St. Pancras Station, but once she had done so the real test of finding someone who actually knew about Alchemy started. Trying not to be true to the stereotype of his real gender, Cedric set out to find someone who could direct him to the most likely location to find Alchemists. The other option was finding a map that would spell out the different locations where all the different crafts had set up shop, but there was a chance that still hadn't been set up yet. Regardless of the how, eventually Jane stood before an alchemy station of some description where a whole lot of people were sitting around doing whatever it was you did to do Alchemy. Scanning what he assumed was many Adventurers hard at work, Cedric picked out someone who was just arriving with a bag of goodies. Whoever they were they looked to be an elven caster of some sort, not that Jane could be bothered doing the simple job of bringing up her interface to tell, and the fact that they were bringing out their things to work on probably meant that they were the least dangerous to interrupt. Cedric had no idea how dangerous it could be to interrupt an Alchemist at work and he wasn't about to try and find out. Walking up to the other side of the table, and still having to get on her tiptoes to see, Jane tried to get a good look at what the elf was working on for a moment. At the very least it would let her try and figure out what sort of equipment and things she needed to use to work with some of the materials and also tell her when the other Alchemist was partway done with whatever it was they were doing so she could ask a question. Cedric was rather surprised when they broke the two light bulbs, one at the fact that there were light bulbs in the first place, and two that she was so willing just to break one to get a few bits and pieces out of it to make something new. Unless they'd broken already, he really had no idea why that was necessary. "Um, excuse me?" Jane eventually interrupted the work while Widow was doing with the two little bits of wires from the bulbs, "I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time? I'm trying to learn this whole Alchemy thing and I really don't know where to start. Do you mind if I watch you and ask some questions?"Cedric couldn't even bring himself to raise Jane's eyes to look the elf in the face when she asked, it was all too much, having to talk to a stranger in a situation where he wanted something, instead of one where he was helping someone else out. He had often wondered back in the real world why it was he could easily talk to people in some situations but not others, and why he couldn't fake the way he felt when he was able to pull it off for the situations when he wasn't. Hopefully it wouldn't put the stranger off talking to him, or something like that, though he could easily bother someone else if it came to that. W: 559

Heretic - Apprentice - Alchemist ____________________________________________________
Widow kept to herself most of the time as she lurked in the depths of this world. The heavy seeds of introversion sprouting within her heart often made her isolate herself from the rest of society. She still had much to learn about the dawn of this new revolutionary era.
While she lied in the dark and dank cells of Cidna mines and live in shells with the rest of the inmates. She remembered the misery she had to endure alone. She was often treated like vermin by the prison guards and tormented daily. The Stratford Wardens were by no means pleasant people. They despised heretics. However, Widow, and a select few others were kept alive for certain underground experiments and also for the rigors of harsh labor for multiple years.
However, while inside, Widow discovered something truly extraordinary while she eavesdropped on a conversation between the guards.
They had spoke of people, much like their own, but that they were the chosen foreigners that were sent to this land by the gods. These people were called, Adventurers, and where rumor would have one believe that they were sent here to be the great saviors of this world, Widow, however felt much differently about their existence.
She loathed them silently, when in essence, she actually envied them. They had possessed seemingly eternal life and had made an outstanding and innovative discovery that allowed the Landers to completely change their diet. Food now had flavor, and that wasn’t the problem. It was how much more advanced they were than the current Lander populations that inhabited this world.
She knew that eventually natural selection would run it’s course and that there ay be an inevitable war on their hands in the future. Should that occasion arise, her people were doomed.
So as he emerald green gaze fluttered up to the blonde haired woman that came waltzing into the shop all on her own, Widow secretly desired above all things that the girl would keep her distance from her. However, be that as it may, the girl did the exact opposite and slowly stepped towards her, though Widow had shifted her gaze to concentrate on her work, she could feel the woman’s prescence in the atmosphere. It was haunting.
Her voice was light and femenine. From what she had spoke about it seemed that she was a lost Alchemist, eager to soar to new heights. Widow seemed to stay focused on her project as she merged to mana shards together as she spoke to the girl.
“Mae Govannen...(Well met)” She quietly murmured. “Tell me. Why do you want to learn about Alchemy?” She asked as she made a thousand yard stare into the manifestation of the bright highlighting effect the mana shards had as they combined and merged into on [Stabalized Mana Fragment].
The emerald jewel was magnificent, and the discharge of green bolts began to settle and be ever so calm as they gently buzzed from within.
“I know something about you you adventurers...who above all else...” She stated as she held the [Stabalized Mana Fragment] and stared into it. “desire power...”

Jane stood awkwardly for a few moments, unsure if the Elf had heard her but not about to give up the hope that she'd be done with her work in the next few moments, hopefully. Cedric had learnt to be patient long ago, yet since getting stuck in this game he often felt like his patience had abandoned him. And this was despite the fact he often held back from things despite his body wanting to jump right into the thick of things. It was all fun and games until someone ended up in the cathedral. Eventually the elf woman did move her attention to the sunshiny little girl, using a language Jane didn't really understand at first, but somehow did because game reasons. "Well I have the skill for it, so I don't want to let it go to waste. There isn't much point in having a skill if you don't want to use it. It's not like there's a tutorial or anything to teach me how anymore so..."The comment of other Adventurers wanting power made Jane raise a questioning eyebrow for a moment as she studied the elf before her. The way she was talking made Cedric thing that she might actually be a tutorial or something in the guise of an Adventurer, though there wasn't much of a way to differentiate between People of the Land and Adventurers anymore. "I can try and ask someone else if you'd like." she murmured, glancing about at some of the people hard at work around the pair, "Most of them seem to be doing more advanced work though, not much I can learn by watching that." she complained, her voice turning almost childish with irritation. "If I helped you make components for what you're doing would you let me watch and learn? Two hands are better than one, and making the basics is what I'm hoping to learn."Not even waiting for permission, Jane would find herself a chair of some sort to drag over to the workbench Widow was working climb up next to her, sitting at a good height for her smaller size to be able to work at the bench. The Guardian looked over everything that was laid out in front of the elf and tried to guess at each piece of equipment and objects that were being used. Cedric had no idea what each tool was so Jane wasn't about to reach out and touch anything. She did leaf through her interface for a moment, trying to find the right thing to make first before eventually tapping at the Mana Fragment option to try and produce one of the tiny shards. "This is about all I know how to do." she eventually announced forlornly, picking up one of the tools to poke at the component to see if it would disappear. "I don't even know how it works or what it does, and I was trying to avoid making one before because I didn't know if it would disappear at a touch like the tooltip suggests. I really don't want to break anything when I do this, hence the apprehension to start without some guidance."W: 530
