Blissful and enchanting. Those were the two words that would describe Saskia’s vacation on the wonderful Isle of Grain. She relaxed on the outside of town by the Grain Village and made her way down to the stables after tipping off the innkeeper for the pleasant night’s rest and breakfast she had thoroughly enjoyed She bought whatever goods she needed from the marketplace. Mostly food and makeshift tents that she could apply during longer days in the battlefield. She opted to get some flint and stone and some wood for the campfire for when she was burning the midnight oil.
Pulsing out her hand, a thick and intricate web burst into existence as an entangled web of virtual data and statistics popped up. Manipulating her fingers over the buttons, she issued a series of commands and summoned her inventory. After inspecting it for several moments, she smiled and clapped her hands together cheerfully.
“Alright! Got everything I needed! It was hell getting all those ingridints and paying off a cook to make all that deliscious food for my picnic! This is gonna be sooo great! Now all I got to do is just make a quick run to the stables ad see how that stubborn horse Icarus is doing!” Saskia nodded as she closed her menu and made off towards the stables.
The woman was encased in Stratford Arms Steel armor which was kissed by the tender lighting of the rising sun, making her seem a bit more alluring and elegat to the eye. Her sapphire eyes darted around her surroundings as she took in the sight of burly dwarfs and whispering robed elves. The town was bustlig with adventurers, much like her.
She could hear the sharp pinging of metal as a Fox Tail Blacksmith tempered fine steel over a furnace across the street. As she made her way along the dirt path, the getle breeze blew on her pink rose petal strands of hair. She was a woman of beauty and appeared to possess noble characteristics as she marched valiatly onward to the stable, finding her horse face-deep in a bag of grain.
As she tugged o his reins and muttered. “Come on, you fat horse, we got to get a move on! You’re going to make me miss the sun peak out over the horizon you derp derp!”
The horse only replied by pulling his head reluctantly out of the bag and puffing a breathe of hot air out from his nostrils and neighing at his master.
“Oh, don’t you sass me! You were already eating before I did! Now come on, out you go!” She commanded pointing a finger out towards the dirt road.
As the beast came out from the stables, she mounted the champion colt and smiled gracefully.
“Alright Icarus, now for aother wonderful adventure! To the beaches! Woo!” She cheered as Icarus trotted of then began galloping at a fast gait.
Once they made their way down to the beach, she sat down and relaxed, laying on the beach innocently as she watched the sunrise. It was a beautiful hue of orange and red with tinges of purple. She felt as if she was watching a skittles commercial as she pulled out a picnic basket from her inventory. Inside were delicious sandwiches and slices of watermelon and eve a nice little margarita Merlin, the bar owner at the Drunke Druid had prepared for her. Unlike the normal plain food, these were prepared in a way that made them burst with flavor.
Saskia was extremely excited as she lifted her sandwich in order to bite into it, she felt a splash of white hit the shoulder pad of her armor, accompanied with a foul smell. Overhead, she heard the squawking of mischievous seagulls. Her face twitched suddenly as she realized what just happened and she unsheathed her Long spear from her back and crawled to her feet and began running at the seagulls with murder in her eyes, waving her spear around at them. They flew away and she smirked with a confident grin.
“Serves’em right!” Saskia scoffed as she dusted her fingers off and turned around to go back to her meal. Only, she found it being infested by a pack of seagulls. They began to tear into her sandwish and some darted off with pieces of watermelon. As she ran over she screamed. “I’ll turn each and every one of you bastards to Anima bubbles! I swear I will!”
After they scattered, she looked into her picnic basket to sea if there was anything she could salvage. She clenched her fist tightly as a fierce snarl crossed her face. All she could find was her Margarita, contaminated with a small puddle of white.

Piper munched on her snack bar, grumbling to herself between swallows. The young woman had come out to this island in order to train; still unfamiliar with the particulars of Elder Tale's mechanics, she wanted to try and beat up some enemies just to build some muscle memory. It had... not gone particularly well. Piper found herself running from enemies beyond her measly one level more than anything else. She comforted herself with the fact that she was able to get enough kills to scrounge up the money for this snack bar, at the very least.
Piper decided to forget her troubles for the moment and enjoy the cool breeze blowing over the sandy beach; she watched the sun rise to the east, a pleasant mixture of reds, yellows and oranges. The scene was serene and beautiful, and Piper relished the few minutes of peace she would get before going back to grinding.
This did not last, however, as Piper's morning meal was interrupted by a sudden flurry of squawks. She turned her head towards the interruption and saw another adventurer being accosted by a flock of seagulls! The swarm seemed desirous of whatever the knightly woman had packed for her lunch, as they were making a clever and coordinated assault on her picnic basket. It looked like she needed some help, for certain.
"Alright," thought Piper as she got up. "I bet I can help with some seagulls. Got to make a good first impression. Hmm, what would Piper say, what would Piper say..."
"Um, hi! Do you need any help?" No, too meek. That was an Anna sort of remark.
"Hail, traveler! Do you require assistance?" No, far too formal.
"YO BABY WASSUP." Piper made a mental note to never consider that particular phrase again.
As Piper carefully considered her options, the seagulls finished off their assault. Embarrassed and flustered because she had done nothing to help, Piper went ahead and ran over, waving at the fellow adventurer.
"Are you OK?" Really Piper? That's it? Well, it would have to do. Piper had already accepted that mistakes are not as fixable in this world as the video games she was used to...

Saskia grumbled as she kicked the ruined picnic basket over. Bringing a frustrated palm to her face, she heaved a heavy groan, until she heard another voice. This one seemed to be of a feminine nature as she looked up, casting her sapphire eyes that sparkled like gems in the tantalizing sunlight. She fixed her posture, straightening her stance in her armor and cocking up a brow at the newcomer.
Saskia was now pretty embarrassed at the thought of having someone watch all that. She scraped the residue of bird shit off with the tip of her spear and gave the girl a bold nod.
“Yeah, I’m all good. These damn pidgeon brained seagulls freaking ruined by damn picnic!” Saskia growled. “Those damn bastards are gonna pay!”
Saskia snarled as she clenched her left fist tightly, wrapping her thumb around her knuckles.
“Hey!” She said as she pointed a finger directly at Piper and held her long spear out horizontally, snapping it against her back.
“You’re level one and you’re a monk. So that means you’re pretty fast. How about you help me snatch up a couple of these seagulls and give them a thrashing. Help me with that, and who knows. I might have a bit of training for you and help you learn the ropes!” Saskia boasted as she slammed her long spear into the sand in a proud manner.
“The name’s Saskia Steelheart. Guild Headmistress of the Vylbrand Academy of Tactics, Mystics, and Trade. And slayer of souls for those stupid enough to mess with my lunch.” Saskia quipped as she laughed heartily, then snapped back to an intense gaze.
“You know how to fight, right? It isn’t the typical point and click system you’re probably used to. It’s mostly mental and instinct mixed with a bit of practical application. Far from your ordinary MMO. You are playing it. You’re living it! Every moment you breathe, you’re taking in a whole new world. And just between you and me...I think that’s pretty badass! I mean where else do you get to storm across a battlefield on a horse and chuck a spear through a Ratman and skewer him on the wall of a dark and spooky cavern.” She chuckled with maniacal laughter.

Piper stared wide-eyed at the woman who introduced herself as Saskia; the noble appearance matched with such a crude personality had managed to throw Piper even further off.
Wait... Guild Headmistress? This Saskia lady was obviously a veteran of the game. She could be exactly the sort of person Piper needed to hang with if she wanted to learn the ropes.
"Don't mess this one up, Piper," she thought to herself. She looked the daunting veteran in the eyes and put on her widest grin; exuding confidence would be the key, for sure.
"Sounds like a good time to me!" Piper slammed her naked fists together for emphasis. "Name's Piper. I came here to train to begin with, so I'd be happy to take you up on your offer. I'm new to MMO's, admittedly, but I'm a fast learner and a hard worker and have played plenty of other RPG's so I'm not totally clueless. So how about we kick some seagull ass?" There, that sounded cool enough. Piper thought to herself, "If I can rope in some people like this I'll be on the fast track to success in no time... Gotta make a good impression to start off."

Saskia laughed heartily. “Aye, now that’s the spirit! I see you got a fire in your eye!” Saskia replied as she brought a fist to her heart, banging it against her heavy platemail, which made a thunderous boom. She gave a graceful bow accompanied with an elegant smile.
“Aye, don’t worry about all that. I never played a game in my life! As a matter of fact I had to learn from the school of hard knocks as I encountered a couple of free all expense paid trip to the cathedral!” Saskia laughed. “But it’s all in good fun. Just have to learn your opponents typical pattern. "
“Like... Take those pea brained pidgeons for example! They are built for speed. That also flap around like idiots. But don’t be fooled! They are smart asses! They will fly high in the sky and become out of reach, and then sky dive you to hell and peck your eyes out!”
Saskia laughed maniacly. “But have no fear, they are for the most part, quite harmless. But excellent training for the nimble monk, as you are innately about as quick as they are. If you can dodge a seagull, then you can dodge a armored goblin with ease! Agility, my dear friend, is your greatest ally. Always remember that when it comes to gear. It boosts your chance of being able to skirt round your enemies strikes. ”
Saskia nodded in approval.
“So, Piper...do you see what I see?” Saskia smirked as sh saw a group of seagulls crowded around dropped slices of watermelon on the sandy shores of the beach.
“Time for a bit of an ambush. But first! We must go over the mechanics of the battle system. There are three styles of combat for would be adventurers. “
“The first, is a common form of which you might be used to. It’s manually clicking the skill from the menu. Basically it’s the point and click method. Also known as the Interface Style. Generally more of the spell characters do this, while melee fighters just go with the flow and their own primal insticts.”
“Thus leading us to the second form. Which is basically using hotkeys, which is very efficient. All you have to do is assume or pose or shout a command and the skill gets activated. Also known as the Hotkey style. It’s good for combat on the go. Especially when up close and personal!”
“Lastly, we have a unique style. It’s a bit more fluid in nature and it’s basically like using a skill as if it were second nature, without the need for hotkeys or a skill menu. It’s something you get down with practice as you become more familiar with your skills.”
“Speaking of skills, here’s a bit of a demonstration of the first. ”
Saskia summoned her skills menu and clicked on Piper as a target. She then waved her hand over the [Heal] skill and cast it on her, engulfing her in a soothing bluish green aura.
“Now you can try it on those three seagull over there. You can take them on one at a time with out worrying about the rest of the flock. “

Piper listened intently as her senior rattled off the details of the combat system. She could not help but slap her palm to her face as Saskia explained the alternative methods of skill usage; trying to manage the menu in combat situations is what had gotten Piper beaten up during her earlier solo training.
A soothing warmth engulfed Piper as the Heal spell was cast; her earlier bruises were whisked away by the spell. Now once again raring to go and fight some monsters, she opened up her own menu screen and scrolled through to remind herself of her options.
"OK... So I have a skill called Tiger Echo Fist. I hit the ground and do area of effect damage to everything within range. This obviously won't work when they're flying, but if I open with it..." Piper smiled as she closed her menu. "I can do this," she thought. "I'm going to kill these things, impress Saskia and get stronger." Piper began sneaking up to the seagulls; she lacked the cover necessary to do much real sneaking, but they were too distracted by their meal to notice her soft footsteps. When she got within range, she made a mad jumping dash towards them; her right fist glowed with power as she screamed out, "TIGER ECHO FIST!!!" and slammed her fist downwards into the trio of seagulls.
The seagulls were not prepared for this impact and were sent flying in a manner that they were not at all used to. They flailed and squawked as they soared through the air, impacting on the sandy beach with a resounding thud before dissipating into bubbles.
"Woo! I did it, I did igyuhYUCK this tastes like seagull spit!" Piper's celebration was cut short by the revelation that she had, in fact, Tiger Echo Fisted the watermelon the seagulls were eating. She was now covered in it, which may have been a blessing in disguise, as Saskia could not see Piper's face flush pink when it was covered in fruit.

Saskia listened eagerly as the spunky girl spoke about her skill. It seems that she had selected an erratic skill that Saskia had heard before. Oh yes, the almighty Tiger Echo Fist. A stunning move that was used by the corrupt criminal that somehow managed to slip through the cracks of her academy. Saskia had been very scolding of the fierce and volatile werecat from the beginning as they shred a bond and the werecat thug revealed the details of just exactly how terrible of a person he was in real life. She couldn’t believe the amount of evil that was nestled in such an innocent looking kitty. If the drug dealing and extortion wasn’t bad enough. The werecat confessed to burning down homes and seperating families! It was sheer nonsense.
However, the naive Saskia believe in the hope of humanity and believed that Spades, the werecat adventurer, could turn over a new leaf. Or at least have his raw talents used for a better method of bringing down the people who terrorized the city.
Saskia was happier to discover a monk with a lot less distasteful personaility, as unlike Spade, she didn’t seem like a merciless murderer. At least, not until she did a mad swan dive into the enemy with a swirling TIGER ECHO FIST OF DEATH!
Saskia cheered vibrantly as she hoisted her spear skyward and laughed heartily as she watched them shatter into particles of anima.
She walked over to Piper an gave her a warm and fuzzy slap on the back.
“My god...that was beautiful! Praise the almighty avaian princess of war! I think you’ve got it down!” She laughed as she got closer and inspected the girls face. “Better spit than shit my friend!”
Saskia laughed as she shook her head in glee. As she cast her gaze upon the ocean she saw, a flock of seagulls coming by to avenge their fallen comrade. As two soared high above in the air, they dove down in a vicious assualt towards them.
“I hope your skills at dodging are as good as slamming your fist into stuff!” Saskia shouted as she skewer an incoming seagull on the tip of her spear, killing it before it could even graze her.
“Hmm...roasted seagulls...could use a campfire...”

Piper hardly had time to celebrate her success before being accosted by the swarm of seagulls eager to avenge their comrades. Piper had never been a terribly athletic woman in the real world, but she found that here her body moved without her thinking; she dodged the torrent of beaks as if she had been practicing for years.
"Beatdown!" she yelled out, toggling on a skill she had picked up for this exact sort of situation. She began fighting back against the flock, punching the birds in their beaks and turning them into bubbles of anima. At every kill she felt herself growing more powerful; she could throw her punches just a little harder and move just a little faster with every annihilated avian.
The two martial characters made quick work of the seagull flock, leaving a large number of avian corpses strewn along the beach, waiting to dissipate into anima. Piper stretched out her arms and sighed happily; her first successful battle! Sure, it was against a flock of seagulls that may have not necessarily even counted as monsters, but she did it! It was something to be proud of at her level, to be sure.
She was, however, still covered in watermelon and whatever other muck the seagulls had decided to leave on her. "I could really use a wash... Glad I wore a swimsuit under my pants today." Piper removed her pants and tossed them to the side before slipping into the water for a quick wash.
"Brrr! Izz cold!" In retrospect, Piper should have expected that.

Saskia cut her eyes in a very impressed manner as she took mental note of the girls agility and hyper sensitive reaction times. She was a brilliant natural. At least as far as it came to the seagulls whom were low level and had meager dexterity to begin with. The monks were a very and nimble species of class as they bobbbed and weaved throughout the battlefield.
Saskia raised a brow as the girl shouted her next skill. Beatdown. It sounded pretty freaking brutal as she smashed her fist into there body sending feathers this way and that. She was a devastating punisher of pidgeons as she thrust her hip behind every strike.
Saskia was thrillled as she watched the battle field become brazen with seagull corpses and she felt like a evil demi-god that had wiped out an entire clan of seagull alongside her new companion. The girl seemed to be very confident and energized after her first bout with them as she gained a few levels from the fight.
Saskia watched woth glee as the ray of light loomed over her signalling a level up sequence. Saskia thrust out a thumbs up and applauded her.
“Good work my little minion! Now take a break!” Saskia clapped her hands. “And wipe that fruit bowl off your face! It looks ridiculous!”
Saskia burst into laughter as the girl skirted over to the edge of the beach and removed her pants and wore a nice swimsuit as she enter the shallow side of the waters.
The pink haired Wolf Hair’s eyes dilated at the sight.
“Wait...what are you doing! Get out of there! That’s Sahaguin territory! They are like Pirahna! They’ll eat you alive!” Saskia shouted.
But it was too late. She could already see two fins swirling about in the distance as tridents appeared from the waters. The slimy green fishmen were already making their way upon her.
“Bob and weave, Piper! Bob and weave!” Saskia cried out as she began to run towards her to assist the girl. These Sahaguins were of a much higher caliber than the seagulls and were much more vicious in a fight. Saskia only hoped that the girl could hold her own against the scaly fish men that swam closer to the shore in a predator manner. Soon, Piper’s whole world would feel like an episode of Jaws.

Piper was merely enjoying her short and chilly bath when she heard Saskia shouting in her direction. Something about... salmon beans? Saharan bees? Studio DEEN? Piper did not have the time to ask Saskia to clarify what she meant as she saw movement in the water; it was very fast, and it was heading in her direction.
"Shit god dammit dick neep!" Piper frantically scrambled back out of water as a group of Sea Sahaugin (oh, so THAT'S what she meant!) made their way towards her. They were much faster than her, of course, but fortunately she had wisely remained close to the shore; she managed to get back to dry land with naught more than a few bites on her ankles.
That did not seem to particularly help, unfortunately. Despite the battle being taken out of their natural territory, getting a taste of Piper's flesh must have sent them into a bit of a frenzy as they did not appear to have any inclination of stopping. They followed her onto the shore, teeth bared and looking very hungry.
Piper, being thoroughly embarrassed by the whole scenario, was looking quite pink despite having washed off the watermelon. She bowed repeatedly to her teacher, repeating words like "sorry" and "please help". It was a good bit before Piper caught herself and remembered that she is not Anna; she is Piper, a woman who can pick herself back up even after failing once. She clenched her fists and readied a battle stance.

Saskia was flailing her arms about in a futile motion as she noticed that the girl just wasn’t getting it. She seemed to just be in her own little daydream, blatantly ignoring the fact that she was going to be eaten alive by oversized guppies. Saskia scowled as she witnessed the girl stare blankly at her lost in all her confusion. It was times like this, that she wished some people would tune in to skills like [Hearing Aptitude] so she wouldn’t have to make her voice go hoarse shouting after them.
“SAHAGUINS! THEY’RE GOING TO KILL YOUUUUUU!” She shouted at the top of here lungs. It seemed the girl still wasn’t getting it. Saskia fumbled about her words, trying to find an expression to help the girl in a wonderful display of a agame of charades as he mimicked the sea monsters with her spear and pointed in their direction.
The audible string of curses made the Wolf hair’s ears twitch as she watched the human girl swim for her life after her eyes bulged at the sight of the scaled beasts.
Saskia ran over to the shore as she witnessed Piper’s image blinking from image as she was being turned into seafood by the sea monster sharp teeth.
Somehow the girl had managed to survive and scarmbled about the shore on all fours before gasping and running towards Saskia whining like a wild ninny.
Saskia didn’t approve of such spineless behavior as her left eye twitched watching the embarrassing sight of the girl bowing several times in a mannerism that exuded self-pity. HEr eyes squinted over the girl in all her timidness, which made Saskia fold her arms and contemplate disowning her as her student.
However, the eager monk had gained a refreshing new born fervor in her eyes as the spunky monkey clenched her fist once more and prepared for battle.
“Did somebody order Sushi?!” Saskia taunted as she rushed past Piper, perched on top of her war horse, Icarus, and unleashed a mighty battle cry. “Anchor Howl!”
Suddenly, the fish men turned on the battled hardened goddess with murder in their eyes as they commited a dual thrust at the Wolf hair’s armor. Her health bar didn’t even move as she completely negated the damage. They kept on jabbing at her and she took a moment to retrieve a brush from her satchel and brush her hair as the taps of the spear felt like she was being jabbed with a stick against her hardened case of steel armor.
She flicked her wrists and sighed in a cocky manner.
“I guess this isn’t very fair, is it?” Saskia muttered as she drew a tear along the bottom rim of her eye and trailed it down to the corner of her lip, mocking the fish men.
“Seven Stabs of DEATH! Sword Rain Flurry!” Saskia howled from the battlefield as she took whatever blows they had for her, but hammered the Sahaguin on the right with seven violent thrusts, watching as the beast recoiled after each sharp and vicious blow. The beast burst into anima bubbles like broken glass after the overkill and Saskia playully popped the bubbles as they floated in the air with her index finger after giggling like a school girl.

Piper regained her composure and grinned widely; Saskia's power and self-confidence had fully renewed Piper's desire to fight. Saskia was, in many ways, the sort of person Piper wanted to be. She was not going to let this mentoring opportunity pass her by, and certainly not in as embarrassing of a manner as it almost did.
There were a few stragglers that had decided to run rather than fight Saskia's Anchor Howl; Piper decided to reign them in a bit.
"All right, Saskia! It's Showtime!" A bright spotlight appeared over the Guardian, shining and illuminating her square above and beyond the terrain around her. The monsters that had not been drawn in by Saskia's skill then turned back towards her, pulled to their doom by the bright yellow light. The sea creatures clustered around the Guardian, ineffectually swiping at her, doing nothing that mattered as her armor was mostly impervious to such meager low level attacks. With every Sahaguin pulled into such a small area, it was time for Piper to enact the next and final phase of her plan.
"Tiger Echo FIST!" Piper smashed the ground in front of Saskia with her knuckles, sending the bundled up sea creatures flying in every direction. Those that had been nicked in any way by Saskia were reduced to bubbles of anima by the attack; the rest were injured heavily. As the Sahaguin grew weaker, Piper grew stronger still, as Beatdown pumped up her attack power to even greater amounts.
"Looks like we're about done here," remarked Pipe coolly as she dispelled the Showtime. "How about we finish this up and have some seafood?"

The brilliant monk had devised a devious scheme that Saskia had found captivating. It seemed that not only was she a brute fighter, but she was a thinker as well. It was wonderful to have such an exuberant companion and pupil. She also was clever in the way that she complemented Saskia’s ability to manipulate aggro and draw attention away from her.
The luminescent lighting from the skill adorned her elegant facial features and her brillinat blue eyes gleamed with a twinkle as she indulged in the ray of the spotlight.
“Alright boys, it’s time to set this stage on fire!” Saskia shouted as she began to gallantly twirl her long spear around as the polearm slashed through the air.
“Howl with the mighty gales of the wind! I summon thee, o divine blade! Converging Saber!” She cried out as she sliced across the horizon in front of her in 180 degree arc. The shockwave echoed from the attack and sliced across the entireity of the foes. Leaving them in a near death and weakened state, setting up for the perfect assist by the monk who had unleashed her fist of doom upon the earth, striking every single one of the sahaguin beside Saskia, causing the ground to erupt into a sea of bubbles as they danced up into the sky.
Saskia shoulders vibated with her maniacal laughter as she thoroughly enjoyed the sight.
“Ah, yes, yes.” I think we did enough work to set up our own Hibachi shop!” Saskia laughed.
“Sounds good to me. We can hit up and restaurant and chat for a bit and get to know each other. I know a place in town called “The Golden Starfish”. It’s a pretty nice place for seafood. Let’s check it out.”
Saskia smiled as she offered Piper a hand up on her horse.
She would gallantly trot within the town and make way to a wonderul restaurant just outside the shore.
The place would have a warm and cozy ambiance and the smell of delicious seafood would fill the air with an intoxicating aroma.
“I want some Salmon with chopped vegetables and shrimp fried rice please!” Saskia exclaimed as she tossed a pouch of gold on the table, seemingly not caring about overpaying. “And whatever Piper here wants to. She’s with me..”
Saskia thrust a thumb at her chest and smiled with a flavor of a wicked grin.

Piper cheered as she and Saskia finished off the last of the Sahaguin; the crippled crowd of fish men had no gas left in the tank to hold off Piper's punches and Saskia's spear. It was a satisfying victory, and Piper felt proud of herself.
Piper happily accepted Saskia's invitation to lunch; as she reached for Saskia's hand, Piper saw the sun glow and illuminate her senior's pink hair. It was a gorgeous sight, and Piper was suddenly not quite certain if riding a horse with Saskia was the finest idea. There was no going back now, though; Piper pulled herself up on top of the horse and tentatively put her hands around Saskia's waist. Piper hoped that the Guardian had not seen her cheeks turn a light shade of red.
It was a surprisingly smooth ride back to town, considering the pace Saskia set; she was clearly a very skilled rider and the pair was transported to Grain Village in swift time. The restaurant itself, the Golden Starfish, had a comfortable and homely feeling to it; Piper guessed the proprietor was a Lander who had been living in the area for a long time. Piper's eyes bulged slightly at the amount of money Saskia dropped on the table; it would be far more than necessary to cover their tab, for sure. The waiter didn't seem to react to it, though, so Piper assumed they were used to her spending lavishly here.
"I'll have the Mahi-Mahi with some coconut shrimp and grilled corn, please." The waiter nodded politely and shuffled over to the kitchen.

“Damn, that sounds good!” Saskia exclaimed as she heard the young girl make her order. “You know what...coconut shrimp sounds good, too!”
“ I’ll take a side order of some of that! “ She exclaimed as she slammed her left hand on the table.
“We shall feast like kings, Piper!” Saskia grinned with her pearly white teeth.
“Let’s find some good seats, maybe something next to the window.” The pink haired woman blossomed as she looked at the raven haired monk.
She enthusiastically walked over to the table and sat down and reclined back in her seat in a casual manner.
She waited for Piper to get comfortable, before making casual conversation.
“So...does Piper like to drink?” Saskia inquired as she lifted a flask from her satchel and waved it around.
“I actually work a side job at the bar in St. Pancreas Station back in Londiminium. Do a nice bit of bartending in there. Mixing drinks is a bit of my specialty.” Saskia winked as she took a sip from her flask.
“My main job is basically working with the rest of the guild as the Guild headmistress for the Vylbrand Academy of Mystics, Tactics, and Trade. It’s kind of a lot of paper work. We get a lot of contracts from the city about different missions and stuff. Also do a bit of advanced training there and emply a lot of squad tactics. ”
“So where are you from Piper? I’m from Gloucestorshire in the UK. I’m half Scottish though, on my dad’s side. ”

» Piper sat down and lounged in her seat; Saskia's boisterous and friendly personality had her feeling relaxed and casual, which was certainly nice for a change. She let out a hearty "hear hear!" at Saskia's declaration of feast and chuckled softly.
"I wouldn't call myself a drinker, but I wouldn't turn it down if you're offering either." Piper took the offered flask and drank down a few gulps before passing it back to its owner. She listened earnestly as Saskia rattled off her personal details; Piper was, of course, very impressed by how fulfilled of a life Saskia had been living in the world of Elder Tale. It sounded like she had some pretty significant responsibilities to take care of, and yet she still had that fun and carefree personality and the time to set aside to go on a... sit down and talk with someone who was still a relative stranger.
"That's all really cool, Saskia. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing, to be honest, haha... I lived in the real world London before the Catastrophe, but my life from back then isn't very interesting so I won't bother you with it."
Piper stretched her arms behind her head and gazed out the window with a warm smile on her face. "I feel like things are going to be a lot more fun here, though. Even at my level I can do some really awesome things, and it'll only get better as I keep working. Yeah, I think I'll like it here." Piper scratched her head and chuckled, feeling a little embarrassed.

Saskia smirked at Piper’s enthusiastic nature. She seemed to be having a grand time and was enjoying Saskia’s company as they began to build off each other’s vibrant energy. Little by little the monk was coming out of her shell and blossoming like a butterfly. Saskia didn’t really have any idea that we wasn’t naturally like this.
“Oh wow! Bold and adventerous, eh? Haha, that’s our style!” Saskia smirked as she retrieved her flask and took a mighty swig for herself. “Yep, I’m a brewer. It’s a fun job. How do you feel about your subclass choices? Catch anything good?”
Saskia always thought that subclass choices told you a lot about the person’s character as that’s what they ost likely did with their lesuire time when not out battling. She nodded in comforting understanding as Piper spoke of home, though not too excited as she did so.
“Well, you’ll get it down no doubt. It all just takes time. But you’re in the wonderful world of elder tales! There’s so much to be explored! Fighting seems to suit you, but there are also other fun things like crafting, partying, getting drunk with friends. You, know? The good stuff!” Saskia chuckled.
Saskia beamed with delight as she was glad Piper was enjoying herself.
“Yeah, things really get turned up a notch once you get around level 15 I’d say. By that time you got a load of skills and you’ll start needing to fight alongside parties. Pick up groups get to be a real drag, but find a few good friends and you can make a team of all-stars!” Saskia laughed as the waiter arrived with their meals.
“Awww yeah! Time to dig in!”

» "Hmm... Well, I admittedly only took Tailor because I liked that bonus against dexterity debuffs. It seemed like a nice thing for a Monk to have." Piper shrugged as she continued, "That being said, now that Elder Tale isn't a game anymore it has really been coming in handy with regular maintenance on my clothes and such. It will be nice being able to make my own equipment further down the line, too."
Piper blushed sheepishly before continuing, "As for the Idol subclass, I used to do a bit of singing in the real world. I've always really enjoyed music; I might have played a Bard, but I am kind of a sucker for unarmed fighting.
Piper nodded and smiled as Saskia spoke of the things Piper had waiting for her as she approached the higher levels. "Sounds like fun! I'll need to keep training to get up there, then. Maybe someday I'll be at your level, eh?" Piper chuckled at herself for that. "I guess I'll need to find a group, then. Maybe join a guild." She said that last part without thinking; obviously she would not mind an invite to Saskia's guild but she was certainly not going to invite herself in or pressure her senior into letting her in. That would just be rude.
Piper was thankfully saved from further conversation by the arrival of their meal. It looked and smelled to be the make of a small town seaside restaurant; that is to say, it looked delicious and Piper's mouth began to water at the sight of it. A bite of her shrimp confirmed Piper's faith in the meal.
"Mmm! This is really good!" Piper said between bites. She smiled widely and thanked the waiter.

Saskia was pretty happy that the young girl knew a bit more about the tailor skill than what was just on the surface. Many people forgot that certain craft skills actually affected the flow of combat.
“Oh, Tailoring! Yeah, you know I’ve been looking to get some awesome vanity gear made! You’d make a lot of money if you have a spark of creativity. That’s pretty cool that you not only looked at the perks of making clothes, but you took into account how they affected the flow of battle for you. Dexterity boosts means greater accuracy. Greater accuracy means lading more punches. And since you’re one of the fastest hitting classes in the game. Having more punches land definitely is a bonus!”
Saskia burst into an amazed expression as she thought about how the girl had mentioned the idol class.
“Really! Haha! I’m the same way! I don’t have Idol of course. I must have skipped it somehow when looking down the list. I sang in the real world too! Made a few pop albums in fact. Music is my life! I even have this little necklace that plays the opening theme from this game. I thought it’d be pretty cool. “
“Unarmed fighting is pretty hilarious to watch. You kind of reminded me of Chun-Li from Street Fighter. “ Saskia chuckled. “ My sister picked my class for me. I probably would have been a Bard, too...or a Cleric instead of running around in this musty suit of armor.” She admitted.
“Yeah, you definitely will! It’s all a matter of time. We got this one student in Vylbrand. She’s a Samurai who only sleeps four hours a day. The other twenty she spends training constantly. There are a couple others like her, very bold and rigorous. It’s pretty crazy.”
Saskia reclined back as Piper mentioned possibly finding a group or a guild.
“Well, if you’re looking for friends. I know the vast majority of people on this server. As far as guilds go. There are plenty of them listed in the Old Parliament Building. Best advice I’d give you is to look at each flyer. That way you can make an informed decision. Vylbrand Academy is always open for enrollment. We don’t have any level requirements. It’s definitely meant to be rather newb friendly. ”
Saskia mentioned as she starting to grab a fork and eat a face full of Shrimp Fried Rice.

» Piper blushed slightly at the thought of designing clothes for Saskia. "Haha, if I do anything like that it'll be waaaay in the future. I didn't know anything about sewing in the real world so I'm starting from scratch. It seems with my current level I can just do some basic repairs and craft some very basic gear, but I'll keep working at it."
"Really? You were a recording artist? That's so cool! I never listened to much pop music, admittedly; my older brother was in a really gritty punk band and his taste in music kinda rubbed off on me. I never did any pro work like that myself, was mainly just a shower singer, haha. I'd love to hear you sing sometime, if you would be up to it."
Piper bit into her Mahi-Mahi as Saskia talked about her combat class. "Ah, Clerics are pretty cool. I've heard that there's a build in this game where you can dual wield shields? I always thought that was pretty rad, wish there were more games where you could do that." Piper considered asking about the sister who had chosen Saskia's Guardian class but figured she would elaborate if she wanted to. Saskia had been kind enough not to press too hard on Piper's real world history, after all.
Piper's eyes widened as Saskia described the Samurai. For Piper, four hours of sleep was... about half of what was necessary. She felt it was in poor taste to say that, though, and kept her mouth shut.
"I'll take a look around the Parliament Building once I get back from this island, then. See if I can find a guild that will suit my needs." It was an empty statement, of course; Piper already knew that she was going to join Vylbrand Academy. At this point, how could she not?
