“I wonder what to do today?” Steel asked himself as he walked the streets of Londonium. Probably because he went out hunting mobs every day for 2 weeks straights, doing that for about 12 hours each day. It was no wonder the mental exhaustion was starting to catch up to him. And for that reason, Steel decided that a change of pace for a day or two was necessary. "Well, hopefully nothing will go wrong today." He whispered to himself. Right after he said that, he had bumped into someone. When he turned to see who it was, it was a girl and there was a guy that Steel found familiar was right next to her, presumably her date for the day. "You okay there?" He asked the girl he bumped into as he offered a hand to help her up. As that happened, romantic sparkles came from and put the girl in a slight love sick like trance. This did not go unnoticed by the guy who was her boyfriend and that guy became irritated at Steel. Wait a minute… He began to think in a slight panic.

"What do you think you're doing, hitting on my girl?" The guy said as he got a hold of Steel's collar. It seemed he didn't know about the Courtesan ability or it's just that he was pissed that his date became like that. Not that his rage was completely unreasonable. The guy looked a bit more closely at Steel. "Oh heck no! It’s you again you *******!!" He exclaimed even more angrily. It was indeed the guy Steel first pissed off back in Stratford and then again later at a different town during the Coconia festival. Oh come on!! Steel exclaimed in his mind. At this, Steel started to sigh for two reasons. First, he didn't want to get into a conflict and second, he knew this wasn't going to get any better from here. He hurriedly turned the skill off, snapping the girl out of her little trance. I hate how this skill acts like a running gag!! Steel exclaimed in his mind before using martial arts to escape his captor's grip and jumped back.

"Sorry about that again!" Steel exclaimed before running off. He hoped that he wouldn't be chased by that guy although he probably would like he did the last two times. This day was already off to a bad start and the Half Alv Swashbuckler hoped that this day wouldn't get any worse. Oh who was he kidding? Steel already knew what was going to happen next.

A few minutes later...

Just as I expected. Steel thought to himself as he continued to run. For some reason, that subclass skill kept turning on to the point that Steel just gave up on turning it off each time. Unfortunately, because of this skill, Steel ran across several similar situations where he accidentally caused a girl to fall into a trance in front of her date and/or boyfriend, causing the said date to chase after him in anger. On a side note, the girls affected went back to normal once Steel was over 10 meters away. As he escaped his latest foe, Steel was just getting tired of it. "At this rate, I'll be the enemy to all men and I won't be able to catch a break." Steel said as he panted a little. Although he was more physically fit than most people, he's had to run a lot today so being tired was expected. But mainly, he was mentally tired from all of this. He was partially amazed that nobody has caught him yet. He knew that he had to lie low for at least a while. But how would he do that when he stuck out like a sore thumb being one of the people who didn't have a date and his Courtesan skill wasn't helping either. For once, he couldn't have a low presence, something he took for granted in the past.
After a while, he had found that he had gotten away from his pursuers. Well, at least for now but that would do as a moment of respite for the Swashbuckler. While he was looking around for any remaining pursuers, he wasn’t looking where he wasn’t going and he accidentally bumped into someone. When Steel looked down in front of him, he saw that he had knocked down a girl around his age wearing a black mini dress and a witch hat and she had light pink hair. “Sorry about that, you okay?” He asked in an apologetic tone in his voice as he extended his hand out to her to help her up. It was then he noticed that his Courtesan skill was still on. He hurriedly turned it off as he didn’t want to talk to a girl while she was in a trance. Although I think it’s too late already.

ll Rinee could remember was waking up in a body that was not her own. Blinking somewhat, she looked from left to right. Around her, a landscape she did not recognize. Buildings that looked somewhat similar to the ones she knew but at the same time were nothing like them. It was a strange sight to behold, most definitely. Her body felt somewhat strange, tingling in a way, alive with some other worldly force. In her hand, she was holding a staff of some kind. Holding that staff gave her some comfort, as it felt oddly familiar in a strange way. Looking around, she could see people ambling about in all manner of strange clothing and an assortment of strange things like her staff. Walking forwards, she wobbled a little bit, her body still feeling a little strange to her, though not necessarily in a bad way. After a few more steps, Rinee fell into a stride that seemed to suit her new body rather well. It was then that she looked to the side, seeing her own reflection. Blinking a little bit, she noted the strange hair colour she had going on and the bizarre witches hat and shorter clothing than she would normally wear. Though it suited her in a strange way. Turning a little bit, she took in her new body and clothing style that went with it. Then she noticed a small status window that had her information on it. Her class, mana, health and race were all there. Along with her level: one. Sighing a little bit in disdain, she took in the fact of how weak she was currently. Smiling ever so slightly though, she nodded. This was a new world for her to explore right? But, Elder Tales was a game... How was it possible that she was here right now? She was no longer sat at her desk in her university apartment office, no she was now stood in a completely different world in both mind and spirit. Her name was no longer Kendra either she guessed... It was now Rinee, the Half-Alf sorcerer. She was no longer even human...







Walking over to low wall nearby, she climbed up onto it with a small huff as she sat down. This was all so strange, and it made no sense whatsoever. How could she have been... physically transported into another world so easily? All she had done was load up a simple game, and now here she was, sat in another world dressed in clothes that were not her own. Her hair was even a different colour. Sighing again, she stood up. Well, with no foreseeable way out of this situation, she decided she may as well figure out how this world worked and all that encompassed it. Reaching up, moving her hand through the air, she began to rifle through her HUD to find out her skills and anything else she could from it. There was no mini-map in sight it seemed, so she'd have to rely purely on her own sense of direction. Standing up, she dusted her clothing down before picking up the stave beside her. Rinee then began to walk off down one of the streets to see what she could find. Rinee was a Sorcerer, Sage and Alchemist she recalled. All things she had picked upon character creation. That meant that she was highly attuned to the magical world. Not to mention the fact she was also a Half-Alv, which gave her an even greater affinity with magic. She was really turning out to be quite the magic person it seemed. Around her, throngs of people began to form. Not out of thin air, though they did seem to appear that way to Rinee who was still lost in a stupor of grand proportions. Part of her wanted to call all this a dream, that she had been online for to long so she'd fallen asleep at her desk again. But the more rational part of her brain knew otherwise. The people she assumed must be NPCs were going about their lives in a fashion she did not expect. They were.... conversing, chatting in such a way that was almost human. Perhaps in this world, they were more than just simple-minded quest givers? They were sure acting that way. Rinee continued to move down the street, eventually entering a side street where the crowd thinned out a little bit but it was still open and full of sunlight, unlike an alleyway. It was then that from behind, she felt someone come barrelling into her at high speed. Blinking a little bit in shock, she felt herself begin to fall as she lost her grip on her stave. Rinee sighed deeply as she sat up a little bit, looking at her now grazed hands with a small sigh. So, pain and injury were also a thing in this universe... Which raised the question of, what happened when you died? Turning around a little bit, she turned to face her assailant. He leaned down to offer her a hand, one that she took with a smile as she spoke to her. Briefly, she felt a small pang in her stomach that quickly faded as he looked panicked somewhat. Standing, she smiled a little and spoke "I would be angry at you for knocking me down, but you did at least apologize, and it wasn't intentional so no harm done... I'm Rinee, and you are?" Briefly, she knelt down to pick up her staff from where it had fallen.

“My name is Steel, nice to meet you Rinee. Again, sorry about running into you like that.” The Swashbuckler said in response to her question before apologizing once again as the girl picked up her staff. As he apologized, he wondered why the Royal Guard system didn’t kick in and activate after he had crashed into Rinee. Steel concluded that it was probably because it was an accident and the Royal Guard system has some way to realize that. “I was too focused on something else so I wasn’t looking where I was going so…” He then noticed the grazed hands and scraped knee of RInee which was most likely due to Steel running into her. “One moment please, I’ll heal up those injuries of yours.” Steel said as he raised his right hand towards Rinee. “Heal” After saying that, the Swashbuckler’s hand started glowing green before Rinee was showered down with particles of light, giving her a feeling of warmth as the spell was healing the little scrapes that were caused by the impact. HP wise, there was no real need to heal her but Steel couldn’t really leave the scrapes alone like that. They would have become an annoyance of slight stinging pain plus a bit of bleeding and they could actually become infected if not treated. Despite the fact that Steel was a Swashbuckler, he decided to pick Heal as one of his skills. There were a few reasons for this but the main reasons were so that heal himself if he was alone, making hunting more easier and also, if people around him got hurt, he’d be able to help them a little before an actual healer could get over and give proper treatment. Once the spell was done, the scrapes and such were all gone and healed up. “Feel any better? Since those scrapes were caused because of me, it’s only right if I fixed them up right?” He said this with an expression that was both slightly apologetic and friendly.

He then began to think about how to make it up to this girl for all that. Sure, he already healed up the girl’s injuries but he felt that he couldn’t just leave it at that. He then began to go into a form of concentration mode which was combined with his observation skills and knowledge. She has the beginner equipment and she came from that direction, the place where all of the new players appear. Also, from the short time I’ve observed her movements, she still seems physically uneasy, a sign that she hasn’t gotten used to her avatar which is a sign that she is a new player. She probably just got here a few minutes ago. I now know what I can do. Steel thought to himself with a mental smile within the span of about 2-3 seconds. In the real world, doing this sort of thing, analyzing another person was essential in his kendo matches so he could exploit an opening in his opponent. Thankfully, this skill that was not part of the system carried over to his avatar which made sense since it was the same person anyway with the same level of analytical skill. “You’re a new player right? I can tell by your equipment and how you’re having a bit of discomfort moving around in your avatar body. You probably just got to this world a few minutes ago and you probably have some questions about the whole situation right? I could answer them to the best I can and I can help you get used to this world.”

As he had made the offer to help her out, Steel heard the sound of rushing footsteps and Steel grabbed Rinee and rushed into the alleyway that was practically right next to them. A few seconds afterwards, a mob of people rushed past the alleyway. This was in fact the mob that was chasing Steel earlier due to the mishaps caused by his Courtesan subclass skill and the Swashbuckler didn’t want the girl that he grabbed with him to get trampled by their stampede. “You don’t want to know.” He said to Rinee with an anime sweat drop as he wondered when they would let this go. Luckily, the mob just shouted angrily and gave out no clue as to what happened, making it look like Steel just got the two of them out of the way of their little stampede. Steel didn’t want to have the reputation of a playboy or anything like that. Once the crowd had passed, the two of them walked out of the alleyway and Steel turned towards Rinee. “So how about it? Want me to show you around and all that?” He said referring back to his offer, asking if it was okay. Despite his sometimes rude behavior, Steel could be considerate and wouldn’t invade too much into other’s affairs unless asked to.
