Waking up one morning, Tessia had the thought in her head to attempt something she knew would be rather difficult. Given, she had already made something like the Mana Liner Shield, the next item she had in mind came from the realm of Atelier. It had been called the Mana Refractor, a legendary Prism that had the capability of manifesting mana into physical elemental statuses. Such as gas, solid, liquid and electricity. A elemental extractor already existed on the recipe list, but to have a item that could alter the very state of mana could be useful too. the items usefulness was one thing, but it could reform mana into any known elemental state. Usually without too much effort.
So, on this day Tessia was sure to close her shop for a little while. This was odd considering she usually liked to keep it open, but she needed the use of her Oven and no distractions. Putting on her gloves she picked up several Mana Fragments and placed them near the window that was close too her oven. This would have to be a perfect fusion or else the end result would just be wasted Fragments. Not like she was worried, but she liked to at lest make some progress when it came too experimenting. Calming herself, she reached out and placed her hands on the synthesizing circle atop her Oven. as her skin prickled she felt the mark hum under her palms and her Ritual tattoos shimmer a soft silver. The mana welled up in her as she noticed her mana bar flashing indicating she now had access too her own stock.
Carefully, she scooted the four Fragments onto the sigil, so that they sat shaping a square atop the pentagram like mark. Replacing her hand on the circle, she could already feel those sources of mana, glowing in time with her own pulse and the shimmering of her marks. Slowly, Tessia began to force out the very mana of hers into the circle, causing a temporary circuit among the Fragments as she established a spinning form of mana about the items. Too forge a Prism, she had thought it would be like spinning glass, in that one would have to maintain rotation and energy to eventually cause the items to fuse together. And too retain control over them as well.
The difficult part would be if Tessia could cause the objects too fuse and gain enough power too alter the physical state of mana into known forms. She hoped that by fusing her own energy and that of enough Fragments, she could force so much of it into a compact space and cause the gem too bend a mana's form. Based on will, all one would have too do is think of the element and the mana would react too the users thought process and alter any mana that would pass through its shape. But first she had to make a stable Prism, and it would have to be perfect, able to bend even light as long as it was powered into a different state. She focused on her attempt and increased the pressure of her mana even more, palms flat atop the Ovens surface.

The spin and mana begun too build at a faster rate now. The Oven began to shake as the very air started to shimmer with the sheer presence of mana as it all coalesced into the twirling vortex of energy. Keep going she thought, it needs so much more already, and your not even halfway through your own mana reserves. It was a terrible feeling as her tattoos began to shimmer and blink a hotter pink with each passing minute. It was like holding onto super hot wax that didn't melt but still pulled and tugged everything into it's cooling form. Gritting her teeth Tessia activated her Accel Dance to attempt to out pace the solidifying process as her hands spun about the climbing mana essence.
It looked almost ritualistic what she was doing, weaving her hands about and containing the mana with nothing but a greater amount from her own pool and sheer will. The mana began to leap up off the oven and lash out at the air. Each time Tessia leashed out with a hand strike too block it and cut it off. Her tattoos blinking a hot red now, warning her of the impending damage and that the mana was beginning to climb out of her limits reach. It was fine. Just fine. She had her Mana Liner Shield just in case its damage decided to exceed her mana's hold. Over and over she lashed out too meet the ever growing crystallizing form of the Fragments and her own added energy. Determined to force it all in a single small prismatic form, Tessia began to force her will to crunch the crystal and condense as much power as she could muster into it, at the same time mentally sculpting a core for all of that power to be sent.
The reaction was terrible and beautiful at the same time. All of a sudden the air sucked in rapidly and crushed the crystal into many tiny shards. At the same time, Tessia braced for the inevitable outward blast of condensed energy. Away she flew and slamming hard into the far wall of her shop, breaking a sign that advertised her items and services as a Alchemist. Her Mana Liner whirred with a high whine as it flickered and soon went out. Tiny little glass bits of Mana lie everywhere as she sat against the wall trying to recover from the outward explosion of mana and energy. She wasn't out yet as she checked her HP. Just below half, with thanks too her Mana Liner Shield to shave off some of the damage. Looking herself over, she couldn't believe she had survived such a blast, there were multiple shards stuck in her arms, armor, and legs.
Coughing a little and looking towards her Steam Oven, she had hoped that it at least didn't take a lot of damage. A scan of the menu stated it was still usable if a bit dusty. Then, as if by some miracle there it sat humming and glowing with a clear shine all along the ceiling and in every direction. A small palm sized prism of pure crystallized mana energy. She laughed but winced from the pain of that blast, checking her mana gauge it had been emptied entirely into the reaction. Her Ritual race had injected this small prism with well over ten times the mana most alchemists would work with. So she lie there for however long she did. Watching the perfect glitter of the gem she had made and trying not move for a little while.

» Piper had been taking a casual walk through the housing district; she had found that, after multiple nights sleeping on pavement, that the murder hobo lifestyle of the archetypal adventurer was not for her. It was high time for Piper to invest in an actual place to live rather than roughing it. And so, here she was. In the Housing District. Strolling along and whistling to herself as she checked out the potential homes to buy, pondering that pastel painted store and its broken glass and colorful smoke and-wait, WHAT?
Piper turned her full attention to the store-it looked like some sort of magical girl meth lab had exploded in there with the destruction and sparkly purple smoke wafting out from the shop. She read the smashed store sign: Pastel Atelier. It certainly did not sound like a meth lab, but Piper figured that there were very few meth labs that were named in ways that sounded like meth labs. Piper admittedly knew nothing about meth labs.
Piper stepped inside, moving carefully to ensure she did not step on any of the broken glass. She figured that someone must have caused the explosion, and if they were still alive they might need Piper's help. The first thing Piper saw was some sort of big machine; it seemed to be shockingly intact despite the explosion. The next thing Piper noticed was the glowing crystal sitting on the machine. Piper had no idea what that was, but figured she probably should not touch it.
Finally, Piper turned her head and noticed a body lying on the ground. The body was bleeding, broken glass having penetrated the skin all over. Piper realized she recognized this body.
"Holy shit, Tess?" Piper stooped down next to the girl and tried to shake her awake; Piper tried not to move Tess too much, unsure if broken bones (and therefore a broken back) was a thing adventurers could get in this world. Her HP bar seemed to be fine, which might have been more curse than blessing with how much pain she was probably in at the time.

Stirring a bit she heard a familiar voice as she sat up and rubbed her arms a bit. Feeling the mana shards still stuck Tessia sighed and sent a small pulse of will through her tattoos, causing the mana shards to absorb into her skin through her arms body and legs as her tattoos shined with silver light. Seeing her bar go up slightly she coughed a bit and looked about wearily. How long had she been lying there? Seeing the face standing close too her Tessia recognized her as her sight decided to come back but remained a bit fuzzy around the edges.
"Piper? That you? Heh, sorry about the mess, I didn't think the reaction would cause such trouble." Groaning a little Tessia scooted into a nearby chair with a little help from the taller girl to provide a bit of a arm up. It would have been romantic if it were not for the fact that she had caused the mess, just too see if she could attempt the impossible and create a legend from a game. Looking up gratefully too Piper, Tessia thought at how happy it made her feel to have someone she could trust show up like that. And right after such a crazy attempt on alchemy. A success at that! Hah! Tessia smiled despite her low hp and having to soon remodel one of her larger signs for her shop.
"Ahem so, despite things here. Why you around in the resident area? Looking for a home to buy? I also still offer my first time visit free alchemy item. I may have blown up a sign but it'll get fixed. What can I make you?" That business woman talk flowing out of her lips despite what had just happened, Tessia couldn't be happier that her experiment had succeed. And even more so now she had a cute girl show up too check on her well being! What a lucky day.

» Piper watched wide-eyed as Tessia absorbed the mana shards into her skin; to Piper, it looked like Tess was absorbing glass. Piper winced at the thought, but figured she must be wrong since Tessia seemed to be okay with whatever she was doing. Piper never really had a head for the more magical aspects of the game; she was very much in the "punch the problem until it is solved" camp.
Piper was loaded with questions as to what exactly had happened here, but decided to avoid the elephant in the room and take Tessia's line of questioning. "Yeah, I was looking for a place to stay. Living on the pavement is not really my style, apparently." Piper chuckled at that before continuing. "I didn't even know this was your shop when I saw the smoke; guess it's my lucky day. Or, uh, about as lucky as a day can be where something explodes." Piper pulled up the menu with the list of discovered alchemical items; she figured that if Tess was going to offer something for free she might as well take it. Seemed to be something she offered to anyone that came to the shop, anyways, so there was probably nothing else meant by it. Probably.
"Let's see here... Ooh, a magic accessory would be nice. Maybe some sort of bracelet that decreases the cooldown of my Zoom Attack skill?" The Zoom Attack skill was neat; by giving her a good mid-ranged option it gave Piper the ability to draw aggro without actually putting herself in any significant danger. She could chip away at enemies at range with Zoom Attack, and as they drew closer, she would just knock them back again with Tiger Echo Fist or Aura Kick. It made for a nice "keep them away, but keep them coming" strategy that was well suited to Piper's role as an evasive tank.

"Well. my place and bed are here for you if you need them." she blushed way too hard at saying that but smiled at Piper sweetly. Moving her broken sign indoors she set it aside and began sweeping up the bits of glass and absorbing any extra mana pieces that went everywhere. What was neat was the reaction had produced quite a few of them. Her inventory shown somewhere in the twenties once she had finished. "Hm at least not much was damaged in the blast, and I made it. Finally. After all this time." Approaching the Steam Oven Tessia slipped on her leather gloves and picked up the pure Mana Prism at it lie there shimmering in the day's light that filtered in through her windows.
"It's made finally. Now all I need is a Golem to help me power it. With luck I can steal a Golem's natural Anima process and trap it in this prism." pocketing the large triangular prism and slipping off her gloves she turned too Piper and said: "So, if you'd like a simple trinket I can make one. Though most go for my Mana Liner Shield. It would be helpful to have the extra protection since you don't wear much armor. On your....um.....self... as it does raise your armor rating by a solid ten for a short time." She was turning so red at that remark and trying not too stare at Piper's garb as she said it. The girl was dressed lightly with no describable armor too see and that worried Tessia. But if she wanted a free Magic Accessory that was fine too.
Tessia had to try not too seem so interested in the girl. It was obvious she was allowing her partial crush too show a little too the Monk. She did like girls and how they could wear such loose things sometimes, and still manage too fight easyily as a one clomping around in armor. Deciding too gather up her fallen items on the ground and replace them on the shelves, Tessia awaited what Piper would say. Hopefully she didn't come off as a pervert of anything since she had been almost ogling the girl since she got here.
