Several more weeks passed by, and Saskia found that Sarum seemed to have no end of trouble with the undead. Thankfully, Necromancers were few and far between, but reanimated corpses appeared at almost every turn. Vampires too were a rarity, though she had faced more than her fair share since her arrival in Sarum.
Her business with the University was a boon to both parties. The mages were well-stocked on the fouler ingredients that found use in alchemy – miasmic dust, bonemeal, Sahagin hearts, and the like – and as a result, Saskia had a safe place to rest every now and again, before moving on to other lands to continue her work.
She had become accustomed to the stability the Univeristy provided his routine, though she knew hardly any of its faculty by name. Aside from honouring their arrangement, she did not converse much with the mages, and they paid her little heed. It came as something of a surprise, then, when she found herself in the Grand Magi’s company one evening in middle of Feburary.
"Evening, Lady Saskia." She announced herself. "I trust you have found the University adequately hospitable?"
Saskia stood to greet her, with an amiable smile, alongside the fellow members of her party. "Of course, milady. I am glad to be welcome on your grounds."
Sairilis nodded amiably, though perhaps it was merely practised pleasantries. "I have a favour to ask of you, before you next depart."
"Of course, Grand Magi."
"I need you to go into Blackshire Manor," she began. "It's a series of passages beneath the university. Most members of the University have heard of it, but are not consciously aware of its existence. I have had little time to maintain it, and it would be best if someone were to clear it out. It has been known to harbour the undead, which falls under your area of expertise."
"I'll see to it right away," Saskia said, preparing to bid the Elf farewell and get to work, but she stopped her before she could begin.
"One more thing," The Grand Magi paused for a second, and though she did not sit, she opened into a less formal dialogue. "You are not from this world, am I correct?"
Saskia smiled, well aware of the tells that betrayed her origin. "What gave me away?"
"I can't help but find your name familiar," she said, bypassing the moment of humour. "Is there any reason for that?" she asked, and then continued, "If you were not so clearly foreign, I would not have pushed the subject. It's evident that I haven't heard of you from one of the locals."
Saskia, not one to lie or deny what is plain, conceded to answer her questions truthfully. "You might know me as the guild leader of Vylbrand Academy. We were based mainly in the cities in our latter months, though my reputation came from my string of victories at sea, and in my younger days I of course patrolled the countryside in various kingdoms and served my time as a cavalier" Saskia admitted, on the grounds that, as her guest, she owed her such information. "I am not sure how far back your memory of Londiminium goes, but if you have been there during the last eight months or so, then doubtless you will have heard something of me."
There was a glint of recognition in the Elf’s eye. "Ah, I recall now. You must understand, of course, my curiosity as to why you are no longer bound to your duty in Londiminium." Despite the amiable overtones, the Elf was clearly quite serious. She was almost unblinking as she spoke, staring the Wolf Hair down, despite the advantage of her height.
Saskia sighed. "I have no wish to lie to you, milady, but the events surrounding my departure from Londiminium are not fully clear, even to me."
"You must understand, Lady Saskia, that as Grand Magi of this University, it is my duty to protect her from all threats. Whether you mean harm or not, I must know the nature of every soul within these walls, as is my right."
Unable to deny the truth of that situation, Saskia nodded with a sigh, and gestured for Sairilis to take the seat opposite her . "Very well, milady. I will reveal to you everything I know about my current situation. I assure you, though, no harm will come of my being here, though I suppose that is for you to decide.
"Just over a year ago, I was assigned the post of bodyguard to one of the noble houses – a very high honour. There had just been a wedding and I was to personally see to the protection of the newly made wife of Lord Maximillian. Naturally as the future Lady and son-bearer, she was an important figure. I was to be her personal bodyguard – the last defence for her, as it were. It was a far sight different from the sea-battles I was used to. "
"Some time after I was transferred I used my position to set politics straight and root out the underhanded dealings of the nobility. You can imagine how that went. "
"My first month passed more or less smoothly. But then people began to approach me with bribes and threats. I answered to none and, their business disrupted, they began to conspire against me. "
"It seemed that the nobles would have acted against myself and my party and evicted us out of the old parliament building and placed a bounty on my head from freelance mercenaries. Now we forge new roads ahead in search of a better area to call a Guild Hall of our own.”
"A week later I found myself in Sarum. Through fate and circumstance I escaped the monsters and found my way here. With little better use for myself, I took to hunting the ungodly abominations so persistent in this land, and this eventually brought me to your University."
The Grand Magi sat back in her chair for a moment, index fingers pushed to a point under her chin, considering the information she had been given. "That is... unfortunate," she deduced, less concerned with her wellbeing than how this affected her establishment. "You can understand my concern with your being a wanted woman, guilty or not."
"That goes without saying, my lady. I can tell you with some certainty that there is no real hunt for me; I have yet to encounter anyone personally who was seeking me out."
"Some certainty," the Grand Magi repeated, thinking on this. After a further moment she met his eye again, folding her hands in her lap. "For the time being, our arrangement may remain as it was. You will understand if, should this matter escalate, we were to relinquish our services to you."
"Of course, Grand Magi," Saskia conceded, in no position to dispute the situation.
"As a matter of trust, I shall of course not reveal this information to any other party. Should the authorities come looking for you, I will not offer you this University as sanctuary, as is not my place. I will not, however, cooperate with any party not native to Sarum, though your time at the University will still end."
Harsh as it sounded, Saskia knew full-well that she had both a duty and a reputation to uphold. More so, though, she was more than grateful to the promise that she would not hand her nor her guild over to mercenaries or the like from Londiminium. Such was a gesture she felt she was undeserving of, given that she would have been well within her rights to send her on his way there and then. She was sure to give the grand magi her gratitude.
"Thank you, Grand Magi," she said with an appreciative nod. "I had not expected such kindness."
"You need not thank me. Your continuing sensibility on this matter is all that is required. Should there be anything else, I expect you to come directly to me." Saskia showed his agreement, after which there was a brief pause. "And," Sairilis spoke again, "I am sorry for your situation."
"That is quite alright, my lady. Now, if you will excuse me, I will make sure this underground passage is safe." Saskia stood, and exchanged a brief farewell with the mage before departing the spacious sitting room and heading for the underground passage.
"Luiniel. You have squad leader. Use us as you see fit. Make sure to take advantage of our subclasses as well. This is a level 31 cap area so Zyrune and I only have access to one tier 2 ability. I'll be taking up Guard Shift for mine. "

The night was long for Darko as he was still holed up in the library of the Vylbrand Academy. He was still clad in the semi-formal outfit that he was using as a uniform when he first introduced himself to the other members; students and professors alike. Not that he was planning to change anytime soon, since he had this outfit crafted to assist him when he found himself in a situation where he had to engage some monsters in melee combat. He also picked up some essentials for the versatile build that he was conceptualizing, so that he would never find himself on a hard spot. There should be more troubles on the way, but Darko thought that if he could survive them, he could then plan against them if they would come in his way yet again. And he knew that he could survive in any situation without dying, so he could devise a plan when he would come back to some town and do some research.
He then looked at all the shelves of books around him. There have been a lot of libraries in which he could do his research on, but this library might have been the largest one that he had set his eyes on. He then was reminded of the sorcerer that the guild leader had told him about. He was wondering why in the world was that sorcerer doing only researches without experiencing other things with his own body. The sorcerer was currently not in the library, so he did not have the liberty to ask him directly, but, seeing all the books in this library, it was no wonder why that sorcerer preferred to stay here, if he was a bibliophile. But there might be some things that were needing someone to write a book on, and so it should be important to witness it first-hand, and so Darko preferred to stay in the frontier looking for clues with which to be used predominantly in his quest to return to the world from where he was transported, maybe even just once.
He was still in the library when he received a telepathic message from Saskia to accompany her to meet a member of the faculty of another university, but he sensed something of an urgency, and so he equipped the ragged brown coat and the black satchel bag and immediately went towards the specified location where Saskia would meet the faculty member, which should be in the university within Sarum. Fortunately he had found the place since he had received the exact coordinates from Saskia, just like before. He found her very reliable in that aspect as well as others, and so he would not be tired in forming a party with her. He hoped that he would be treated by Saskia in the same manner.
When he arrived at the specified place he saw two familiar people: one was the fox-tail samurai that he had talked with back in that quiet area of Londinium, and the other one was the druid who watched someone skateboarding with him. He was interested in both of these people, and he had no issues with them, and so they might be actually good party mates. He hoped that they would not break his expectations however. After the long chat between the headmaster of the Vylbrand Academy and the Grand Magi, she then deputed the foxtail as the party leader. Although the arrangement was awkward as the foxtail was the lowest-leveled member of the party, Darko might have understood the logic. He was thinking that the lowest-leveled party member would be the one to always find that her HP was running low, and so should have more time to think. He nodded his approval of the arrangement, and then said, "As for me, I would stay in the rear, until the situation dictates that I should charge in and take the aggro for myself."

It had been quite some time since the druid had explored outside of Londiniun's crafting hub and being honest he hadn't quite wanted to. Instead he had been holed up inside his tailoring shop, his face hidden beneath a blanket of fabric. Thanks to the adventurer known as Avalon, the half alv's tailoring shop was beginning to become quite popular at least by his standards anyway and from the recent events with Jacoben and Tadashi and the entire coconia lunar festival business and the eventual aftermath, the druid didn't honestly know what to think.
During the festival he had been hurt by the lander who had engaged in a brief but sweet romance with Zyrune, shortly after Jacoben entered the picture and Zyrune found himself on the outside looking in at the two as they began their new relationship. Several weeks pasts until Zyrune had met with the sorcerer Jacoben and they had somehow ended up friends, which in a way was oddly sweet, however they still avoided the topic of Tadashi much to the druid's relief.
However soon after they had met up, the druid received a letter from the lander himself asking to meet. Long story short, the druid and the lander were swept up in their emotions and found their lips locked together once more despite the lander being in a relationship. Zyrune had run from the man then, feeling horrible about the kiss, for his emotions betraying him and for betraying Jacoben. The whole affair was a mess and he didn't know where to begin, however there is only so much work someone can bury themselves with before finding that they have successfully taken care of it all.
Cue the druid bugging his guild leader Saber for a distraction. However much to his dismay there didn't seem to be anything really that his guild House Of Crowns seemed to need doing, at least at the moment. Currently they seemed to be in search of a new home for the guild and due to Zyrune's duties in the Miasma Realm, he had been given some time to relax and enjoy the life of a non adventurer, much to his dismay. This lead him to contact Saskia. The woman was the leader of a guild allied with the House Of Crowns and an impressive woman too. The druid and herself had both been put together or fallen together on several quests and missions in the past and she was beyond trustworthy and she had the same knack that Zyrune seemed to have for falling into trouble.
So that was how he found himself following only behind the pink haired guild leader, a sorcerer that he recognised from that dreadful skateboarding incident and a relatively cute but unfamiliar fox tail. A sigh escaped the pink haired half alv's lips as they moved. Saskia was so far taking the leader and the druid didn't have any problems with that at all. In fact he much preferred it. So far however they hadn't had much time to chat at all, due to the urgency of the call. However that hadn't stopped the druid from wearing his idol vanity outfit. He needed a break from the whole Arabian theme that he had adorned for quite some time and his idol skill was just enough distraction and powerful enough to wear to such a quest.
Apparently the undead were beginning to become a problem for the local lander population in Sarum. The druid hadn't really had much experience against those types of monsters so far, however they seemed to be weak against magic that was enchanted with light and life, which the majority of the druid's spells seemed to be. The only problem was that the mansion that were heading towards seemed to have entry restrictions. Entry restrictions seemed to be a common feature that had been transferred over from when the world was still just a game, however this would mean that in order to enter, they would need to meet the restrictions and the mansion's restrictions happened to restrict any player higher than level 31 from entering.
So that was how Saskia and the druid were now the same level despite the woman being many levels higher than him. It also meant that among not being able to use several skills, he could only use one tier two skill and that was difficult to choose. This decision had occupied a majority of the druid's thoughts as they made their way through the small underground passage towards their destination.
However just as Saskia decided to halt the group, he had made up his mind to go with Leaf Shield. It was a decent skill that could double as both an offence one and healing one. If used on an ally party member, any damage taken by them would be significantly lowered. However if it was used on an enemy, it reduced their movement by 25% and caused them damage over time, not only that but any fire spells that hit the target while the skill was in effect would have their damage increased by 50%. However if the target is hit by anything other than a fire spell, the leaf shield would end, which meant that in order to achieve it's optimum effectiveness, it would need to be used in order perfect sync with his own fire spells or that of Darko's fire spells.
Taking a deep breath, the druid nodded under the light of his active magic light spell as she gave over control of the party to the fox tail adventurer. It was clear that she was someone who Saskia trusted and by default that meant that she had earned the druid's trust whether she deserved it or not. Still though it couldn't help but feel on edge about the entire quest. Living monsters were creepy enough, let alone monsters that were supposed to reanimated corpses or phantoms, normally that meant bones and skulls, something that the half alv wasn't a fan of.
"If you don't mind, I'm going to focus on support unless you need an offensive skill or two." He said with a wink, it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular however. With a smile holding the baton of radiance in one hand and his other free one out towards the ground, he watched as his hand glowed soft hues of green and pink. A few seconds late the ground before him erupted in vines and flowers before eventually his Alraune summon, Sakura, aptly named due to the cherry blossoms that adorned her body. "Sakura here can help too." The summon just gave a nod and her usual soft smile before moving to stand beside the half alv, she was just taller than his owb size in height and he couldn't help but feel slightly at ease already. She gave off a floral smell one that reminded him of cherry blossoms and already the dark underground passage didn't seem as dark.

Your dream is where your heart is ❤ Today was defintiely not her day. Was it something she had said or done? The foxtail samurai had no idea but bad luck seemed to be following her like a curse. First the underground expedition went to hell quickly and now she was being summoned to deal with the undead. Normally she would jump at the chance for this adventure but right up there with her fear of arachnids were zombies. Ever since she could remember she had a fear of the walking dead, the soulless stare and the groaning noises they made. It haunted her dreams at times and turned this brave warrior into a frightened pup. Lu even knew ahead of time that she was going to be made squad leader which was probably a mistake. How could she lead if she did not have a clear head to do so with? They were all going to perish here in this haunted god-forsaken place. "Kami-sama, protect us." she whispered to herself as she slid her katanas into place and made herself ready to move out. She was running late as it was but she had to be sure her gear was repaired and ready for the journey. Lucky enough for her where they were meeting was a short walk away but everyone seemed to be gathered already. She arrived just as they were exchanging their roles and she felt a bit bad that she was not there sooner. "Gomen, I got caught up with checking my equipment and lost track of the time." she said with a nervous smile. It was mostly true anyway but sixty percent of the reason was that she somehow forgot she was suppose to be here today. Even late she was not here to play around and so without further wasting time she nodded as they told her their prefered roles. Zyrune would support from the back, much as she had assumed being the druid class. The same was said of Darko who she also had already assumed and Saskia would be just behind her. As the leader of the group she decided she would prefer to be first into the fray so she could get a better feel for the situation around her. "Unfortunately none of us have the exorcist sub-class." she said with a chuckle as she turned on heel. With that she would start the trip off by being the first one down into the dark tunnel. Inside she was a mess of nerves even as she tried to keep her wits about her. What if in this world as well the zombies tried to munch on her brains?! She would survive long enough for it to be the most horrifying experience of her life she imagined. Having to ressurect and remember such a thing would scar you for life. "Move out." she called behind her as she placed a hand on the tunnel walls. In low light conditions she felt it best to guide herself like this to keep herself from stumbling over something. On top of that she had a pretty good memory so if there was anything odd about a surface she would remember by touch. Call it a strange gift but it was something she learned after being temporarily blinded in the real world. As they moved deeper into the underworld she didn't bother to ask them about their skills; she was well aware of the skills they could wield at their current levels. So with nothing to focus on just yet she decided to ask Saskia a question while they travelled down. "What exactly are we after here?" she asked with a hint of confusion in her voice.
