Amidst tree and flower in the Windsor Greatwood, what had once been a peaceful afternoon had been horribly disrupted. Bird and beast have mostly scattered from a certain part in the woods, leaving only monsters behind. What could have caused such a great commotion within what is normally a fairly peaceful area? Well, zoom in on a particular clearing in the middle of this forest, and you'd find a level 3 Young Pittered Boar facing off against a certain hot-headed Guardian. " C'mon, ya little bastard. Fight me!" Thibault snarled defiantly at her opponent. The tiny boar responded by dragging it's front foot against the earth, returning Thibault's challenge with a squealing charge. One that probably could've been easily avoided, but Thibault still hadn't quite gotten combat down yet. Instead, she takes the hit and watches a bit of her HP get shaved off. In return, she spun her halberd and swatted at it, only for the blow to mostly glance away as the boar retreated for another charge. This wasn't going well. Maybe she should've tried her hand at something her own level, but now... " Ghh. Are ya tryin' to make fun of me!? I will EAT your HEART, pig!" Now she's invested. And she'll be damned if she's made a fool of by bacon. With a whooping war cry, the Guardian sets off in chase of her prey. -------------- HP: 75% MP: 100% -------------- [Word Count: 237] [Tags: Mikoto]

Bedwyr stamped his foot as she sat upon his back watching from well out of the boars aggro distance. The guardian, or thats what she assumed this girl was, had lost a quarter of her health and had dealt fair damage to to pig but in terms of exchange was losing this battle. This could be any accounted to any number of reasons. The most obvious was a lack of defensive armor. Leather was fine for mobile classes that could rely on evasive ability to get away from their enemies. Guardians and Samurai didn't have that capacity. Another reason might be that this was quite the uphill fight for this girl. The pig had two full levels on her and that at such low levels as these could spell defeat for greedy player. A final reason could be the overly aggressive play she was witnessing from this player. She'd not seen a single parry or riposte. True, a two handed spear didn't exactly allow for much in the way of a quick block into counter strike but its size and heft and length would serve well in redirecting the pig. Bedwyr stamped his foot again before nodding his head with what sounded like an old disease engine trying to start up. Patting the horses neck Mikoto continues to observe her fellow adventurer, "Not yet. She's not hit a dangerous point. I want to see just how good of a fighter she is before I step in." True her stepping in would aid her fellow player to some extent but perhaps the other player had something up their sleeve? Perhaps getting the tar kicked out of them was a part of their plan to beat this pig? Hard to say but instead of charging in and getting in the way of said plan to look like the hero, something a lot of male players would do in this situation, she'd sit back and observe until she was sure this player needed assistance. Perhaps it was good that Thibault had no idea anyone had joined her here. She still wasn't quite at her best yet. Eager as she was for combat, she may have dived into pit a little deeper than she was expecting. Still, there was no way that she could get out of it now, was there? The fight was on, she had some damage on the thing, and if things kept up like this, she'd be able to experience her Berserker powers a little sooner than she'd thought. The problem was, she KNEW this wasn't how a fight went. This was Elder Tale! Skills were a thing! She remembered THAT, at least, along with her character design. The problem was, whenever she tried to activate the damn skill menu it was a pain in the ass to figure it out. How the hell was she supposed to swing the weapon while she was toggling some dumb menu? " Ain't games supposed to come with a manual? The hell is that when I need it? Or at least a damn tutorial!" Thibault muttered under her breath, but honestly... She was having a good time. Every time she swung her weapon she felt the strength in the blows. When she took the hit, it was solidly, and she didn't break. It hurt, but she'd had years of getting smacked around with her rugby team. She'd gone home with bruises, sprains, two broken noses, a concussion! This was her enjoying this sudden amazing gift she'd been given. The Boar, on the other hand, probably isn't having fun. He'd run far enough away to start his charge again. The same dragging hoof and charge. Was this it's only attack? Probably not. Still, it gave her an option to take a breath and figure out her reaction. She still doesn't know how to use her skills, but at least her Resilience was keeping her healing. 76% was better than 75%. As the boar came closer, she took action. She swept to the side, letting out another warcry as she struck true! ... And did about 15% damage. " Ghhh, come on! That can't be the bloody best I got!" This needs some working on. This level 1 crap needed to get fixed, and soon. -------- HP: 76% MP: 100% -------- Word Count: 384 Tags: Mikoto

It appeared that the fellow player had regained a single point of health. That confirmed the assumption she'd made moments earlier about this girls class. While there were other classes that could restore health none that she knew of, she'd only played offense oriented classes regardless of if they were mages or warriors classes, could self regenerate their health without casting a spell. That didn't answer any questions Mikoto might of had about the rest of the players build. Though perhaps she could make inferences if she studied the build and thought a bit more about the available sub-classes and equipment being used by the female guardian. Rubbing Bedwyr's neck absently with her left hand she rests her righthand on the horn of the saddle. Mentally Mikoto took stock of the other Guardian. Leather equipment and a two handed spear. These weren't uncommon on lighter fighter classes nor was the heavy spear uncommon on Guardians or other heavy fighter classes. Leather armor on Guardians was though. Guardians were the games premier tank class. They had a large health pool, early access with no penalties to some of the heaviest armor in the game, could use any weapon class without penalties, and a slew of defensive and aggro-holding skills that made them the single best tank class in the game. That was just the primary skill load out that determined gear options and base skill sets and took no account of hose granted by sub-classes. So what could be that be? Most players took sub's that would back up their mains most obvious use and make them better at that role. Others, Mikoto was guilty of this, took a sub that changed her mains spec and gave her more flexible roles within combat. It was highly likely thats what this player had done. Mikoto's sub was cavalier which was blazingly obvious when you looked at Bedwyr and then her overall level. This girl had taken a class with a class with a large health pool, leather armor which didn't stop much and was often overmatched in damage, and a heavy two handed spear which did more damage per single hit then its one handed counterpart. Taking leather armor had a small benefit to the guardian class. Due to its significantly lighter weight it was easier to move around in thus allowing a guardian to evade incoming damage slightly better at the trade of defense. It was in all likelihood that his girl was a glass cannon build. Which mean that this girl was running berserker as her sub-class. Which when you thought about it made perfect sense. Large natural health pool, a heavy powerful weapon, and multiple abilities that allowed the player to negate or lessen damage to manageable amounts. Combined with the capacity to get much stronger the lower the health pool got made for a rather effective build. The larger health pool would mean that twenty five percent or whatever the value was when the ability first kicked in was much higher thus meaning you could enter said state fight in it for a bit get healed to stay at a safe level of health while maintaining that boost. And if things got dangerous you had a chunk of health that would allow you to get pounded on for a bit while the mages summoned up their more powerful healing spells. So, if Mikoto's assumptions were correct this girl wasn't just a newbie putting things together that sounded cool, like that half-breed Alv samurai whats-his-name, but a veteran player or a player that understood how to make the most of the core skills of the game to allow them to play how they wanted. Or... Mikoto could be entirely wrong and the girl could just be an incredibly lucky n00b. Bedwyr had gone to grazing at the various plants at his feet. She however kept her eyes trained on the other guardian. The guardian seemed to be struggling to fight as if this was in fact the players first time venturing out of Londoninium to the fields. That was entirely possible. Her movements seemed clunky and off balance perhaps, once this pig was dead, she'd be willingly to take some advice from another guardian. Down in the grass Bedwyr snorted and stamped a foot in his impatience at standing still. She'd watch a bit longer and depending on how this battle turned in the next few moments she might intervene or approach after the fact. (WC: 747) Thibault
