First of all, let's take a look at when the most recent Midori RP post had been. May 17th. Hm, a bit more recent than I would have expected, but then again everyone lost motivation to RP till just a few weeks ago. Because obviously saving Eorzea several times over took a lot of effort and the newbies that were to join during this time interval hadn't been very sociable. Till now. Although on one hand, this meant that the majority of the RP forum had never seen Saki's RP style. It was the right moment to turn a new leaf, to show people that posts can be descriptive and captivating without being the length of one of Saber's snoozefest solos. It was the right time to- oh what's the point anyway, this is a thread opener after all and I'm never good at writing serious thread openers after having a break in RPing for some time.

Let's describe the context of the RP scenario. The Snowdonia Mountains were just as one would expect the area to be, full of snow even as summer was about to end. It was obviously not as snowy as one would expect during the Christmas season, hence the title, but there was pretty much always a bit of snow toward the mountain peaks. Midori herself had purchased a house a while back (subforum provided here) but we won't situate this thread in said subforum for the time being. We need some background and rising action first, dear reader. Did you think anyone would start a thread in their own subforum with someone they hadn't RPed with before without describing what Snowdonia actually is or how the two characters could have met? Although now I'm thinking of a few ideas, like say it's a major blizzard and Midori's house was the only shelter available in the area. Which is silly. Why would there be a snowstorm in early September? Saki please.

In any case, Snowdonia became a housing district recently after the area and much of Avon was opened up to housing purchases. Living near the city of Stratford had some benefits. For one, it was far enough away from the majority of Adventurers that it was a quaint place, as militaristic as the city itself might have been. She'd heard of some commotion going on where a few Adventurers were planning to head up to Scotland after supplying at the city, but that wasn't her concern. For now, her main reason for being in the mountains during the early autumn season was that the local area was gearing itself up for another seasonal festival. After living around here, she'd figured that in addition to the big Christmas festival they had last year, the local villages also tended to host celebrations every time the season were to change. Supposedly the summer-autumn festival was here and she'd heard a few things about it. The Harvest Faire, people called it. Perhaps if this idea were to become popular enough, it might even spread to the rest of the Unfounded Kingdom. But who knows.

For now, Midori had visited one of the villages at the foothills of Snowdonia. It was around noon and there were plenty of events in store for the afternoon according to an events agenda written on the village's main square bulletin board. There was going to be a farmer's market which made sense given that the Harvest Faire was appropriately timed for the autumn harvests. It was a little too early to be considered part of the major festivals that most Adventurers know as Thanksgiving. But in any case, there were plenty of stalls offering fresh fruits and vegetables and actually a considerable amount of people who were visiting out of curiosity. It just dawned to her as well that there was much about Lander regional traditions that she'd never been aware of. The girl, dressed in attire resembling a school uniform, took a moment to sit at a table under a shaded awning.

"I suppose festivities are always nice, even when I have no idea what we're celebrating..."

It was an odd day for Youka. She was actually in town for once. It wasn't pleasant constantly being jostled about and stuck between people. She kept hissing and glaring at anyone who came near her. Her hair had gotten stepped on multiple times. She was pretty much fed up with all the people and their annoyances as she arrived a bunch of food booths in the Autumn Harvest. She wasb't even sure why she had come here in the first place. Snowdonia was nice sure but the people not so much. She shuddered at the thought of the people around her.

Youka's stomach growled extremely loud when she smelled the food booths. They were the reason she came and they better be worth it. She bought what looked like a burger. Hopefully would taste like one. Youka sat down at a table with one other person at it and took a bite of her burger. It tasted like cardboard. Youka frowned and pushed the food away. "Nope nope nope nope.."she said. "Not eating that. Ew." she added in an angry tone.

Youka glanced the other person and glared at them. The person appeared to be a girl in a black school uniform. Kind of weird but they were in a game so she couldn't exactly judge. "What're you looking at?!?!?" she asked angrily. She continued to glare at the girl intensely. She was moody. Damn people. It was annoying and the food hadn't even been worth it. She growled.

Midori had tried a few of the food stalls in the village and frankly, most of the cooked food was without flavor as though they were still in the early days of the Apocalypse. She had to figure that news didn't really travel very far in this village about new discoveries from the Adventurers. That or the food that tasted bad to the Adventurers somewhat tasted all right to the Landers. It was hard to tell when she turned her eyes to see people enjoying various kinds of food to tell whether that was actually the manually-crafted or system-crafted food. Everything certainly looked the same to her anyway. So when a girl took a seat at her table and munched on a burger, she could tell by the disgust in the other girl's face that it was probably one of the latter. Her curiosity was not without notice, as her new guest immediately took her staring with a hostile response. Not really one to judge another's personality by first impression, Midori thought for a moment on what she could say in response.

"Try this, it's one of the better-tasting food I've found so far." she went into her menu by tapping the air with her finger and scrolling through her inventory. At last, she came across an entry called Londinium Lander Sandwich. It was a food crafted of Level 10 quality, apparently. Given that it had its own description rather than some generic flavor text, Midori was more keen to trying it. And indeed, it had been a good idea. It was a rather simple sandwich made from lettuce, tomato, dressing, and what she thought to mostly likely be forest boar ham, it was apparently a handmade recipe made from a Londinium native at one of the stalls. More importantly, it actually had some flavor unlike the pretty but inedible stuff that some merchants tried to sell you. She scrolled down a few more entries in the list and pulled out a glass of Londinium Berry Juice as well. At the very least, she found that it was very uncommon for people to mess up juice. The most common way to make fruit juices were to crush up the fruit in question, a task that anyone could do without needing to use the crafting menu. So often drinks were spared the fate of tastelessness.

In any case, she wasn't sure if the other girl was willing to try any new food after having tasted the burger in her hands, but it was worth a shot. Negotiation and friendship usually involved having good food around to seal the deal, after all.

Youka looked at the girl with an expression of shock written all over her face. Why is she offering me food after I snapped at her? Well that's a new one. Youka was still angry with the girl just for being a different person than her but she certainly wasn't about to deny food that actually tasted edible. Maybe the food would be good for once. She smiled in her mind.

Youka reached out one of her arms for the juice and the sandwich. The arm she reached out with was covered entirely with a black tattoo that was extremely intricate and winding. It looked a bit like an ink snake had wrapped itself around her arm. Youka didn't plan on eating the sandwich or drink in front of the girl. She was going to go back home. The only reason she had even tried the burger in public was because she was absolutely starving. In fact Youka was still starving but it didn't really matter anymore.

Once she had the food in question she put it into her inventory. It was pretty rude of her but she didn't really care. Youka hated people and she hated eating in front of them even more. Eating was something that made a person vulnerable. Just like sleeping or going to the bathroom. Anything that made her vulnerable she hated doing around others. People were evil and would take advantage of you the second you let your guard down. Therefore Youka would not do anything that could potentially put her in death's arms. Even if she couldn't die in the game.

Youka didn't thank the girl after she put the food up. Instead she stayed silent and got up from the table and started walking away.

There were really a couple ways where Midori would approach this situation were she in another position. She wasn't quite sure how to react to the current situation as the other girl still seemed guarded about the whole situation. Rather than eat the sandwich and drink the juice outright, she instead placed it into her inventory instead. Her eyes watched back at the white-haired Adventurer's expressions. It was like watching someone who was extremely distrustful about whether the free food she had just given was actually just a genuine offer. If she were in a different mood, it was quite likely that she wouldn't have stopped the girl from doing anything and would have just let her run off. Frankly, reacting without much thanks in return was rather petty for anyone to do. It certainly wasn't going to help one rise up over whatever hardships there may be.

Speaking of which, hardships... Midori put a finger to her chin and thought about the situation for a moment. It had been a while since the Apocalypse had happened and most Adventurers should have been in a better position now that people have begun to settle down in the new world. Of course, it was easy for her to forget that there were still a good number of Adventurers who may be experiencing more negative emotions from the shift. It would've been hard for someone who was going through loneliness or homesickness. So maybe she would need to see if this girl was going through a similar experience? This was what she had decided on and thus as the other girl was turning to leave, Midori returned back to the inventory and prepared to tap on a few more buttons.

"Have some more." she summoned forth even more food from her inventory, possibly much of her own stockpile. There were other sandwiches similar to the one she had just given to the girl, a few dessert pastries, and a good amount of candy. "I can't say that I might understand what you may be going through, but if this may help, take as much as you'd like."

She wasn't one for blind charity and especially not if she suspected that her kindness was being exploited. Midori had a small smile on her face but the mindset on the back of her head was analyzing everything that would happen soon.
