Sandy beaches, the cool warm breeze, the sound of the waves caressing the shore, the perfect place for a nice relaxing day on the beach. Thames Coastline seemed to be a popular spot for adventures to relax, but not for Samus, at least not today. As usual the young knight was out with a task to preform, although this time it wasn't given to her by another. Samus was here for herself, of course she would never admit to such a thing, she was here to learn how to preform her role when she is with a group, she wanted to learn to tank.
So, here she was, wind blowing through her air, sword at her hip and ready to give this a try. The tank to be only had three skills at the moment, but you gotta start some where. Walking along the beach Samus spotted a creature she could practice on. She felt kind of bad, knowing she would have to kill said creature but she did her best to push the thoughts from her mind. The target was a level 1 Coastal Seagull, a weak target on the same level as herself, it should provide suitable practice or so she thought. Reaching to her hip, Samus draws her sword from its sheath and holds it tightly in her right hand. Squeezing the grip tight Samus flips the sword in a circular motion activating her skill Garrison Force as a transparent barrier surrounds her for a split second then fades away. This is one thing Samus didn't have any trouble with, activating her skills, lots of practice on training dummys has allowed her to master the skill.
Ready to give this a try, Samus takes her sword and takes her stance. Cautiously walking towards the bird Samus drops her stance to a more imposing one and shouts at the bird "Get over here!" which activates Taunting Shout forcing the seagull into combat. Retaking her combat stance, Samus watches the creature fly up into the air and circle the Guardian preparing its first attack. Samus continues to watch the seagul like a hawk as it begins its first attack. This is when Samus started to wonder if this was a good idea. The bird dived down at her at incredible speed. But Samus was ready, right when the seagull was in range Samus jumped into the air in an arc above the bird. Shifting all her weight mid air Samus used the weight of her body and her sword to spin herself like a saw blade, her aim was for the bird. She missed, landing with a thud on the sand Samus rises from her keeled position and spins around. Looking at the bird a sound of mild annoyance escaped her lips, a tsk, at how she missed her target. Training dummies don't dodge, so her accuracy needed work. Samus told herself to stay focused, focus and you'll hit it. Returning to her stance once again, she gripped her sword tighter, planted her feet in the sand more firmly readying herself for the next dive from the seagull.

"Eugh. I don't remember this place being so...squishy. Or smelly."The Guardian's boot made a wet, sucking sound as he forcefully pulled it out of the muck. A loud, audible POP was emitted when his appendage was free of the slimy prison. However, he had hardly taken a couple before his foot was stuck yet again, this time sinking about halfway from his knee. After what felt like an eternity, he got his foot unstuck once more, opting to backtrack the way he came.I'm sure there's a couple Ember Lizards along the outskirts anyways. The whole reason why he was bothering to waltz around out in the mucks of the upper Thames was because he needed lizards. Specifically the ones able to manifest fire at will. For the sake of research, he was hellbent on finding a couple to analyze for his alchemical research. But yet for some reason, the little bastards refused to show themselves on this day for some reason. With his foraging exoedition cut short, he decided he'd take a walk along the river bank. Partially to get his mind off the lizards, but mainly to get all the gunk and grime off of his boots. Large flocks of seagulls were out today (which might explain the sudden absence of lizards), most of them floating lazily above the flowing waters nearby. The bogs and marshes soon gave way to sandy beaches, where the water lapped idly at his boots.A loud cawing of a seagull sounded out in front of him, sounding like it was a lot closer than normal. Are they squabbling over a fish or something? With his curiosity piqued, Oxford walked ahead a little faster to find out the source of the squawking. As he rounded the bend, he saw one of the local Coastal Seagulls flying cirlcles around what looked to be a blue-haired swordswoman. At that moment, the swordswoman lept into the air as the seagull dived. She missed her mark, but Oxford couldn't help but let out a low whistle of amazement as he saw the sight. Normally, the more nimble classes such as Monk or Assassin would run with an dodge/acrobatic build, so seeing another tank Adventurer (and a Guardian at that) with a build like this left an impression on him.He drew his giant, two-handed greatsword before him, belting out a Taunting Shout of his own at the Coastal Seagull. Taking another person's kill was something he didn't particularly stand for, but he figured the blue-haired lass wouldn't mind if he took the aggro instead. The seagull made a beeline for him, the angry pecks of the water fowl feeling like small, aggressive tickles from underneath his armor."I'll keep him occupied so you can land your blow!" he said to the other Adventurer. Hopefully he wasn't intruding on anything private, as some Adventurers preferred to do these sorts of tasks by themselves.

Hearing a shout from her left and the sudden lose of the attention of the seagull Samus looked in the direction of the shout. She finds a rather tall young man in her sight. Handsom, dark hair, heavy armor and a large sword, possibly a Guardian like herself Samus wondered. He took hate on the seagull from Samus, which at first she wasn't all to happy with. She glared at the man standing before her sword in hand assumingly ready to steal her kill. Watching the seagull peek at his armor and he barely notices was just salt in the wound. Samus was ready to leap through the air at the seagull, hoping to get in a hit before the man. But when he called out and said he'd keep its attention so she could attack it Samus realized he was just trying to help. Relaxing her stance Samus drops her sword to her side and nods at this proposal offered by her newly found comrade.
Digging her boots into the soft sand, Samus pushes off with all her might and runs for the seagull. As she runs for the seagull she develops a plan of attack. Because a protector of all that is good has to look stylish Samus came up with the bright or possibly not so bright idea of leaping up over the seagull like before but this time doing something different. Using her agility and incread jump height she planned on using the Guardian's physical strength and heavy armor to her advantage as a pedistal to leap back and reattempt her mid air attack.
Or so she thought, if luck is in her favor, 1-50 Samus succeds, or if 51-100 Samus fails.
dRsVBlJY1-100
Succeding in her daring stunt, Samus runs up leaps over the seagull in front of the man, places her boot firmly on his right shoulder and pushes off into an even higher jump. Twisting her body as she flips back into the air to give herself the momentiom she needs. When the time was right Samus spins her body with a loud "Heeya!" as she unleashes the tension in her muscles spining her whole body like sonic the headchog in the air slashing the seagull once before landing back in the sand. Hastily spinning around on one heel Samus then pulls her sword back behind her activating Sword Rain Flurry and like the name suggests Samus' sword stabs the Seagull in a flurry of quick strikes.
Failing in her daring stunt, Samus darts up to the Seagull jumps over it and plants her boot firmly on the Guardian's shoulder portion of his armor. Unfortunately for her, she slips, falling to the ground and onto the seagull with a surprised look on her face, she was sure this would have worked. Falling to the ground with a light thud, it was good the Seagull wasn't focusing on her and Samus was thankful for the other Guardian being here to aid her now. Completely embarassed Samus slugishly pushes herself up from the sandy ground, entirely unsure what to do now.
Or, if fate is entirely not in her favor who knows what could happen? Maybe this Guardian isn't strong enough to withstand the force of the jump or maybe he doesn't like being stepped on and steps out of the way? Only he knows...

Oxford held his greatsword out in front of him, using it to deflect the seagull's attacks when it came in for a peck. He looked back at the swordswoman (was she a Guardian as well?), wondering when she'd be ready to attack when all of a sudden he saw her dashing in his direction.Wow, she's got a lot of energy, I'll give her that....wait, she's not slowing down. Oh, maybe she's gonna do another jum--she's not jumping. Why is she still running? Why isn't she slowing down?! WHY ISN'T SHE JUMPING? OH MY GOOOOOOOOO->>>>>> [DIMENSIONAL BREAK] <<<<<< Hello, dear reader. You have encountered an important, RNG-driven event. And I am the nameless entity that drives this event. So let's have some fun with this, shall we?Here, we have a die. What's interesting about this die is that it has 100 sides. It's fascinating, because due to the many sides it possesses, it's almost spherical in shape. So instead of chasing this around the multiverse, I'll just drop it in a box and open it again, alright?3mJNyXAW1-100 Oh, so that's what number this dimension gets. Interesting...So, now for the fun part...the consequences...Let's see...how about if the number is 1-50, Oxford stands upright and the scenario continues on its way? But if the number is between 51-100, then he falls on his back as he sidesteps, flailing around until someone were to help him up. Oooh, yes, I like the sound of that...Now, let's fix this tear in space and go back on our merry way.>>>>>> [DIMENSIONAL STITCH] <<<<<< Assuming that the numbers worked in his favor, Oxford braced himself as the lass used him as a spring board to gain the extra height to swat the pesky bird out of the air. He watched her perform her aerial acrobatics, landing with a small poomf in the sand. However, if they didn't, then Oxford, surprised at her sudden rush, hastily side-stepped the too-fast blue blur. The good news is that he avoided whatever damage the girl may have inflicted on him, but now he faced another problem: the ground. The sand embraced him as he fell, getting sand all in his armor. It wasn't anything game-endingly serious, but man, was it annoying. What's worse is that thanks to his armor, getting up proved to be a more difficult task than he thought.Good lord, how did I ever make it to level 63...
The seagull landed on his chest, pecking at his face while the Guardian tried to shove the stupid mob away from him.

Samus was sure her plan was going to work this time, run up jump off the stranger flip up and strike the seagull. She was confident this time she wouldn't miss, she was pretty sure the man was strong enough to act as a spring board too. She however overlooked one key factor, hes a stranger. Yes, they just met less than sixty seconds ago, so trust, really isn't a thing yet. So when he stepped out of the way as Samus was flying through the air, it caught her totally by surprise.
He moved!?
She thought as she flew past the other Guardian landing rather ungracfully in the sand. The sudden stop and her foward momentom almost made Samus lose her balance and fall into the sun warmed sand. Thankfully, she didn't and after a second to recover from the misguided landing Samus stands and turns to do who knows what after her embarassing fumble. She finds the other adventure in a state of lesser amounts of fortune than herself. On the ground, with a seagull pecking at his face, he was obviously in a much worse state compared to Samus. She would have to help him.
After all, Samus was out here, causing all this trouble so she could learn to fullfil her role as a tank. This was her chance, second chance or was it third? Anyway, seeing her companion in a pointy meets face perdicament Samus stands and bellows at the Seagull activating Taunting Shout. This as its supposed to, grabs the creatures attention and draws the seagull away from the turtle, I mean other adventure. Focusing its attention on her the Seagull flies up into the air and Samus prepares herself by tacking a defensive stance with her sword preped to block the forth coming dive. Block it she did, with a thwang of hard beak against steel Samus blocked the the creatures attack and because of Garrison Force, she took no direct damage. Samus waited for the attack on purpose, because she knew there would be a slight pause before its next attack, giving her a window to attack back. Taking this oppertunity Samus raised her sword and swong it behind her tilting her wrist so the point of the blade was directed at the Seagull. In a flurry of flashing steel and feathers Samus unleashed the skill Sword Rain Flurry upon the Seagull effectively taking off a large portion of its health. Ready to deal the coup de grace to this fight gone incredibly sour, Samus runs towards the seagull jumps up into the air winds up and swings her sword with such force the sand beneth them parts like Moses and some ocean some where. Watching as the bird disappears into pixels and a tiny pitiful amount of gold coins Samus turns her attention to her new spring board, I mean companion.
I guess it would be the right thing to help him up.
Putting her sword back in her sheath, Samus walks over to her new turtle friend and offers him her hand with a awkward smile that says.
"What have we gotten ourselves into?"

Was the confounded bird dead? The bird was dead...at least, Oxford thought the bird was dead. He wasn't too sure, as he was too busy internally bemoaning his stupid mistake (and also the fact that sand got into his armor).Bah, whatever. At least the bird's dead.A tiny explosion of pixels and feathers provided visual confirmation that the bird was indeed no more, a tiny metallic clink ringing out as the gold it dropped fell to the sand. He tried to push himself up to his feet, but for some reason, he couldn't. It was like his current predicament was pre-ordained and he was doomed to a lifetime of flailing on the beach like an over-turned turtle.A shawdow descended over him, the blue-haired swordswoman offering him a hand to help him (at least to a sitting position) up from the ground."Well, all I know is that I've gotten into a bunch of sand," he answered in reply to her question. He gave his arms a good shake and then hopped from leg to leg, shaking them vigorously to rid himself of the loose sand that tried to take up residence inside of his armor."Sorry about the mess, thought I'd try to help you with your kill. Apparently, I wasn't supposed to do that," he said, keeping his eye on the other damned water birds flying above the river. Should more come his way, he'd make sure to dispatch them immediately to avoid another tumble into the sandy shore."What brings you out here anyways? Trying to get some combat practice, or maybe even grabbing a few levels out of these mobs?" he asked....this girl. In his confusion, he'd forgotten probably one of the most important parts of conversing with someone."Blah, sorry, where are my manners...I'm Oxford, a Guardian," he said, putting on a small smile and holding out his hand in a gesture of introduction. "Do you need any help getting started with questing or anything of the sort?"As he listened to the swordmaiden's replies (if she had any), he thought he heard the sound of cracking tree limbs from deep within the swamp. Suddenly, a horse-drawn cart burst through the trees a couple yards ahead of them, the horse drawing it and the elderly, male Lander driving it in a state of terror as a multitude of Weak Goblin Scouts (4 of them, in fact) were clambering all over it."Whoa! WHOA!" the man yelled out as he saw the riverbed ahead of him, pulling hard on the horse's reins. The horse halted to stop, all the while pawing frantically at the ground as the goblins were flung from the cart due to the sudden abscence of momentum.
"All right! Your first lesson: aggro!" Oxford exclaimed happily to the other Guardian (who he would later learned would be called Samus). "For your first lesson, here's what I want you to do: pull these guys off of me when I go and toss myself into harm's way." Without another word, Oxford pulled up the Teaching System and synced his level to 10. After that was done, he promptly dashed into the midst of all 4 of the gobs and performed an Anchor Howl. It was only until he had the attention of all the enemies that he severely hoped that Samus would be following him into the fray.
Otherwise, he may have royally screwed himself over in his haste.
