"WAIT FOR ME TO COME HOME"
"Wow, these apples are such a beautiful shade of red!"
Charuen gushed at the ruby red fruit that she had cradled in her hands before handing the owner of the stall a few gold coins. "I'll take three please." She said, gently rolling the apples into the large basket that stood at her feet. The basket, which was honestly more of a small round crate, was already filled quite close to the brim with produce of all kinds. Squashes that were round and plump, carrots in a brilliant orange, aubergine in the brightest shade of purple, and many more.
Back in the real world, Charuen loved to visit Farmer's Markets during the weekends. Food was her lover, and nothing excited her more than a delicious dish made from the freshest of ingredients. This was no different for the adventurer after being transported to the world of Elder Tale. After she had learned how to make delicious food in her new home, the pinkette tried her best to create dishes only from the best and freshest produce. It was surprisingly easy; since no supermarkets or grocery stores existed in the Unfounded Kingdom, many of the ingredients she purchased were locally sourced. Ever since she began her life in the Unfounded Kingdom, she had been keeping a mental list of the pros and cons of living in this new world. The fresh and easily accessible ingredients was definitely one of the many advantages.
After paying for the apples, Charuen picked up her basket with a surprising amount of strength. It was quite an odd picture to see-- a young woman with a slender built carrying a large basket filled with heavy vegetables. When it came to food, the cleric tapped into her usually hidden reserves of determination.
That being said, it was actually quite rare for the healer to purchase so much produce. After creating her guild, she quickly found herself swamped with paperwork and other guild related responsibilities. With her hands tied almost all of the time, it was difficult to have time for herself and go on frequent grocery trips. Thankfully, she did manage to find some free time today, and decided to make the most of it by visiting the farmer's market in Sarum. The region was known for its bountiful and quality agriculture, and with the harvest season coming up soon, it only made sense for Charuen to pay the place a visit.
Her trip was successful to say the least-- apples were the second to last item on her long list of groceries. All that was left was corn. While Thanksgiving was not commonly practice in the United Kingdom, she had always found the North American tradition fascinating. She wanted to host a Thanksgivin dinner for her guild members as a token of gratitude. Moreover, she wanted to offer (through her guild) adventurers who did not have a lot of gold a hearty dinner that they otherwise might not have been able to afford.
The Farmer's market was located on well, a farm. If she remembered correctly from her previous visits, the stand that sold the corn was separated from the fruit stalls by a large corn field. With this knowledge in mind, Charuen set off to find her final item.
As Winter Solstice drew closer and closer, the days were getting shorter and shorter. It was late afternoon, yet the sun was already beginning to set. As the pinkette walked by the large cornfield, she hummed cheerfully to herself, enjoying the crisp autumn air. While she was not a big fan of the days getting shorter and shorter, she did enjoy other aspects of Autumn. Leaves with colourful shades that made it look as if trees had caught on fire, wrapping up in a thick blanket with a cup of hot apple cider, the cries of children as they--
Wait what?
Charuen blinked in confusion as her daydrams of perfect autumn days were replaced by a sound from the real world. The healer could hear a faint crying coming from inside the cornfield. She tilted her head in curiousity and pressed her lips together into a thin line. It was getting pretty dark, and it was pretty close to Hallow's Eve...Did ghosts haunt cornfields? A soft sigh escaped from the lips of the young woman as her pace slowed down before coming to a halt. Turning around, Charuen then pushed herself into the cornfield, her curiosity getting the better of her. Moreover, now that she was paying more attention to the crying and following the sound, it appeared to her that the wailing was rather high pitched. What if a child had gotten lost in the cornfield? Her heart hurt from the mere idea. She quickened her pace, using her large basket to push way the long stalks of corn.
The pink haired beauty soon found herself in a clearing and looking upon the source of the sound of distress. She was right-- a young girl no more than six years old stood in the middle of the petite clearing, weeping. Putting down her basket, Charuen was just about ready to make her way to the young girl slowly (she didn't want to startle the girl) when she noticed some aggressive movement from the corner of her eye.
"Look out!"
Without a moment's hesitation, the healer rushed towards the girl and wrapped the child in her arms before forcing them both onto the ground. While she had been busy crying, a crop guardian had sneaked up on the young girl. Had Char not pushed the child (and hopefully herself) down in time, there might have been casualties.
Now all she needed to do was get up. And kill the monster that was the same level as her. Using her healer skills. While protecting the child.
Honestly, what horrible timing...

We can kill him or make it more fancy.] [attr="class","titleBox"]This broken glass is all I've got left! [attr="class","textBox"] The Assassin twirled his fingers as he leaned back into the tree he was resting in, balancing and toying with the harmonica he had crafted long ago. It was a beautifully crafted piece of art he had made and even since the day he made it, he had been interested in playing it. Though, even when he was little, Saber wasn’t particularly good at music. He could sing decently but he was by no means qualified to start any kind of career. He hadn’t practiced much either aside from when he sang in elementary school. Being a part of the choir had taught him basic control of his voice but nothing really fancy and after he was allowed to choose whether he wished to continue, subsequently leaving the choir completely because of his wish to hunt instead, Saber stopped practicing entirely. But in the back of his mind, Saber had kept singing a bit closer than some things. It wasn’t because he liked it or anything either, as he hardly if ever even thought about singing. It was because of the hymns his mother used to sing him to sleep with. They were soft, gentle, and told stories. That soft sort of style was what Saber liked and it was something that attracted him.
That attraction was what led him to make the harmonica. The instrument was a simple object and didn’t require a lot to play, but that didn’t make it easy. The harmonica could be played in a variety of ways and had a huge range of sounds depending on its size and shape, giving it extreme versatility. If he mastered it, Saber could play almost any kind of song with it. However, there were just a few that he really wanted to play. Saber was no artist or any kind of band player, but the shell he kept around himself was something even he found a bit painful. He had heard in the real world that some artists played for money, others played for love, some even played for family, but there were also a select few who played for themselves. Music was something those artists used as relief or an escape from all of the bad things that were going on in their lives and they treated it as they treasure. One night, Saber wondered if he could do the same.
However up until now he had been afraid to put his lips to the reeds. Saber always put on a hard mask and didn’t care much for other people, but deep down he was frightened. The Elf was afraid of how the world would look to him if he made a mistake or showed weakness. He was afraid that his father would look at him differently or that his ancestors would frown. Thus, he sealed away any form of weakness and buried it into the depths of his soul, locking all of it away in a box. He stuck his fears, his nightmares, his pain, his terror, and even his happiness away. Anything that could lead to him being exploited, Saber tucked into that box. The harmonica that he twirled around in his fingers… it scared him. It scared him more than any God ever could because the instrument could open up that box, even when he didn’t want it to.
“Dammit…” Saber muttered and grabbed onto the glossy black object, his fingers wrenching down on it as he sighed. He pulled it up to his lips and gave it a light breath, pushing air through the reeds on the inside. A satisfying hum vibrated from within the instrument, but it wasn’t anything one could call musical. The noise was Saber simply pushed out a heavy gasp of air but nothing much else. After his single breath, Saber kept the instrument pressed against his lips. He closed his eyes a little and stared down at his hand and at the harmonica. His eyes were focused not on either of them though, but on the emblem of the Funeral Parlor; the emblem Saber used as a mask to hide from the rest of the world with. Sometimes, he wondered if that emblem was more of a curse than a mask.
Pulling the harmonica from his mouth, Saber twirled it and then tucked it into his belt. The Assassin rumbled and rolled out of the tree, dropping down with the help of a few branches until he finally reached the ground. A few leaves fluttered down after him, shaken from the branches, and Saber found himself in a bit of an awkward swirl. The Elf huffed and fled the aerial assault, heading back towards the distant city of Sarum. He had initially come to this area to hunt a few of the resident Golems, but not he was feeling a bit lazy. As a level ninety with plenty of resources, Saber wasn’t exactly pressed to do any kind of work. On days like today he could afford to be lazy and do nothing, which was exactly what he was planning to do. He would take today and use it as one of the few days off he gave himself. Today, he would wander around and do absolutely nothing…
“No…” The Assassin made his way across the waving green field and strode up beside an oversized field. It was carefully cut and formed to be a maze and fit the local Halloween them. Due to the area being mostly farmland where Saber was, haunted hayrides, mazes, and festive outdoor parties were a thing. In the area there were probably three different mazes but the one Saber decided to put on his direct right was probably the largest. But that was alright, there were probably people positioned throughout the maze to help those who were lost. Right?
“Don’t you do it, you bastard…” Saber walked patiently beside the cornfield and glanced up to his left. The sun was setting and it was going to get quite dark soon. Well, that was fine. There probably wasn’t anyone in the maze any wa—insertchildcryinghere---there it is.
“You’re the worst kind of person.” Saber stopped immediately as he heard the crying and his left hand instinctively dropped to the hilt of his right sword. He narrowed his eyes and glanced around himself, checking to ensure that he was clear of any danger and that the crying wasn’t in his head. When he confirmed that he wasn’t going mad, the Assassin looked towards the field. It was faint and distant, but he could hear it; a child was weeping and they were inside the field. Sucking his teeth, Saber darted into the field without even thinking twice. Whether it was real or not, Saber didn’t know but that crying was there. Saber narrowed his eyes and focused on the sound, turning and adjusting his movements as he honed in like a bloodhound.
Very quickly, the crying became louder and much easier to focus on. He was getting close, but how close was he really? With the sun setting and the corn field being large, he could have been right next to the kid without even realizing it. Thus, he took to the air. Once Saber was fairly close, he launched himself vertical and popped up above the corn several feet. As he broke the plane of the corn plant tops, he head a shout; “Look out!”. Saber’s vision shifted to the left and he spotted a pink-haired woman, a child, and a Crop Guardian in nearby part of the field. Saber huffed and snagged two throwing knives from their hilts. As he started to descend back into the field, the Assassin launched his knives at the middle point between the girls and the monster. He aimed to block, not to strike, and hoped that his attack would at least ward off the monster’s next attack.
The instant his feet hit the dirt, Saber launched himself straight towards the location of the group and ended up popping out at their flank. He paused and took in a short breath, his eyes noting the Crop Guardian and then checking to see where the woman was with the child; good, safe. With them out of harm’s way for the moment, Saber pulled out his two black swords. He gave them a heavy twirl before snagging them tight. Once he did, Saber activated the skill, Malicious Intent. A heavy and violent presence sped from his position, filling the wide space around him. Saber glared towards the Crop Guardian and rumbled beneath his scarf; the monster turned to face him, attracted by the aggro-inducing aura around the Assassin’s position.
“Oi, pinky. Keep the girl out of the way and cover her eyes for me.” Saber wasn’t about to let something that attacked a helpless child get away lightly…
With the Crop Guardian aggroed, it came at him with full force and all of its attention on him, at least that was how it looked. However things are not what they seem. The Crop Guardian glared in Saber’s direction and summoned forth a crow to be of aid. The bird let out a happy-horror filled yelp and dove towards the Assassin. Saber wiggled his nose and casually stepped to the left, moving out of the position of where his malicious intent was placed. The instant he moved, both the crow and the Guardian realized their mistake. The crow was already in too deep though. As it hit the brakes and flapped its wings, Saber dashed forward and sliced the bird in half, black feathers fluttering into the air around the cut as many were severed from the bird’s body. They only lasted a few seconds and disappeared before they even touched the floor as the crow dematerialized. Saber huffed and glared towards the Crop Guardian. Its eyes glowed a bright red and then it hopped towards the Assassin, bouncing on its stick quickly as it attempted to smack into Saber.
With a simple side step, Saber read the attack and avoided it. Out from the sky, a heavy ray of light descended and blasted a hole in the ground. Saber moved quick to avoid the surprise magic attack and shifted from one side of the Guardian to the other. There, Saber sliced out the Guardian’s lower quarter, cutting its straw body at the knees. His blade sliced easily through the body as well as the wooden stick. He switched his left blade from a forward hold into a reverse grip. As the Crop Guardian dropped from its raised position, Saber stabbed his sword into its back and then pushed it down onto the ground. The Guardian let out a wheeze as it landed face first onto the ground. Saber wiggled his nose and planted his boot firmly on the back of its head, holding it in place as his blade steadily drained his health.
“Keep your hands off the kids next time… If you get one.” Saber rumbled as he kept the Guardian pinned. He glanced over towards the woman while monitoring the Guardian’s health. Rather than slice it up, he elected the slow route. With his blade stuck through the Guardian’s chest, it would die slowly. Not only that but keeping it pinned to the ground also kept it from attacking, for the most part. Saber knew that it could use telekinesis crap so he kept his wits about him. So far though, the Guardian was being compliant with the reaper.
“How’s the kid?” Saber called out to the pink-haired woman, his voice carrying just enough so that he wouldn’t be yelling. Now that he got a good look at her, she looked oddly familiar… but he couldn’t exactly place it. This kind of feeling was becoming a normal one for Saber these days. It seemed that traveling and fighting oversized monsters was taking more of a toll on him than he thought.

"WAIT FOR ME TO COME HOME"
Charuen expected at least one blow from the crop guardian before she would have the chance to get up and fight off the monster. However, the attack never came. One second passed. Then two. Three. Four. Five. The pinkette heard the sound of footsteps, and what sounded like someone drawing a sword... make that two swords. Before she could raise her head to assess the situation, she heard a familiar voice calling her "pinky" and ordering to stay away and cover the young girl's eyes. Charuen couldn't quite place her finger on it (Not that she had much time to think about it-- she had just dived in front of a relatively high level monster to save a child.) but in addition to feeling a sense of recognition to the so called stranger's voice, the voice was commanding, and she couldn't help but listen obediently. Her hands immediately reached down towards the girl as she placed her long slender fingers gently over the child's eyes.
With her part done, the cleric then finally raised her head to take a look at who had (essentially) saved her life as well as the young girl's life. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she quickly recognized the young man to be Saber, the infamous assassin whom she had the pleasure of meeting once before. She already felt more at ease with him present. The entire situation was rather ironic though. The last (and first time) they had met, he too had jumped into action out of nowhere to fend off a monster right before it attacked her. Charuen wondered if the same thing would happen the next time they met... Hopefully not, it embarrassing enough to have to be defended twice !
Nonetheless, she was grateful for the elf's help. When Saber turned and asked her about the child, she looked down to check on the girl's status, only find her arm's empty handed. An expression of shock mixed with surprise flashed across her face-- it was not every day that she let a child out of her site. However, as she back up at the assassin, a wide smile spread across her face and she let out a light hearted laugh. While Charuen had been distracted by her own thoughts, the young girl had taken off from the adventurer's arms and had rushed towards Saber. The pinkette watched with amusement as the young girl nimbly climbed up Saber's leg and latched onto his torso like a koala. "Mister is so good with the pokey stick! You saved Sarah! Thank you mister!"
Charuen shook her head slightly and made her way over to where Saber stood with the young girl whom she assumed was named Sarah. "Good evening Saber," she quipped. She gave him a quick wave before glancing down at the crop guardian that was pinned to the ground. She winced slightly as she watched the monster's HP bar slowly drain away-- even though it did try to kill Sarah, its slow and probably very painful death was rather uncomfortable to watch.
"You know, corn is the only item missing on my grocery list..." Charuen glanced at the assassin, a playful smile gracing her lips. "Why don't you chop it up like you did with the crab last time? Except this time I'll treat you to grilled corn on the cob rather than a crabmeat hot pot."
Upon hearing the words "corn on the cob", Sarah's eyes grew as wide as saucers and she tugged on Saber's shirt. (How she managed to do that while still staying latched on to him we will never know.) "Corn on the cob! Please mister?" she said, looking up at the man.

[attr="class","textBox"] As he finally diverted his eyes from the Crop Guardian, comfortable with that fact that it wasn’t going to be going anywhere soon, Saber noticed that the woman in the distance was empty handed. The Elf’s nose wiggled and at first, he thought that there was no child in the first place and it was a figure of his imagination, or she had let the kid go and they had run off somewhere. But after a moment, he felt a tug on his pant leg. The Assassin looked down and saw that the child was boldly standing, right there, right in front of him. Saber froze and his eyes opened a little. What? Child, what are you doing? Child, no! Stop! Saber lifted his left arm and adjusted himself on top of the Crop Guardian as his personal space was invaded by the young being. The little girl had no sense of fear or anything it seemed and she climbed right up the Assassin like some kind of animal baby. What was he, a jungle gym?
“Get down. I am terror, why are you doing this?” The girl thanked the man for saving her with his ‘pokey stick’, which he assumed to be his swords, and seemed quite delighted of that fact. Saber rumbled a little at her but he didn’t do anything to hurt her. There were two kinds of people Saber didn’t like to hurt in the world; children and women. He hated dealing with them because he simply could never justify any sort of attack on a woman. The day he fought with Kitty still burned in the back of his mind every now and then. It was a fight he regretted participating in, but he could not change the past. All he could do was keep to his morals the next time, like now. Part of him wanted to pry the child off his body and return her to the ground, but she was clinging so damn tight to him that he would have to use an excessive amount of force. It quickly looked to be that he was going to have to deal with her stuck to him. Perfect.
Sheathing the sword in his left hand, the Assassin freed up one arm so that he could hold the child up, supporting her by the waist so that she wouldn’t fall. He let out a defeated sigh and pushed his right foot down, shoving the Crop Guardian back down as it attempted to resist a little. Another chunk of its health was gone and it was nearly dead. With the child secure and the monster restrained, things were pretty much handled. That was good at least. When the pink-haired woman piped up, a vague memory spiked his mind and it seemed that he wasn’t the only one who was feeling some familiarity; she knew his name.
“Oh it’s her.” Saber remembered the woman from a little beach adventure he had. Now that he thought about it, this same sort of scenario happened back then as well. He had appeared at the beach and when the woman had come into view, she was attacked by a crab. As usual, Saber jumped in to protect and killed the creature without hesitation. Well, at least she didn’t look at him with any kind of disdain like others who knew him did. That was one good thing, but this woman came with baggage. Now that she remembered him and looked at him with a bit of comfortability, she didn’t seem to be bothered to ask him for help. Not that he would say no in the first place, but it was something Saber hadn’t experienced often. Thankfully she only needed help harvesting corn and Saber would be rewarded with food for it as well. The little one voiced her own desire for the reward and it seemed like Saber was quickly shoved into a corner as Sarah tugged on his shirt. Perfect.
“Sure, I can help. That solves my dinner problem.” Indeed, Saber had not initially considered dinner before. He had been resting on the tree, focused on his harmonica and whether or not he should play it. Dinner was not something on his mind at all but now that he considered it, his stomach hadn’t been filled since the early afternoon. Being lazy today must have kept it from emptying quickly.
With a final stab into the back of the Crop Guardian’s neck, he dispatched of the creature and then sheathed his sword as it popped into glittering shards of data. Being a high level had its advantages in situations like this. Since the danger was gone, Saber sheathed his sword and then looked down at the little one. She looked up at him, beaming a wide smile. Saber wiggled his nose beneath his scarf and then looked towards the pinkette, a glance at her character information provided him the cheat code for conversation; he name was Charuen.
“Erm… I… The child… Uh… Never mind. I’ll go get the corn. I hope you brought a basket.” Yet he never even used her name. He tried to say that he wanted Charuen to take the child, but the little one seemed far too comfortable. Saber sighed again and pulled out one of his daggers from its sheath on his lower back. With that in hand, he made his way over to the corn stalks around the little opening. But as he did, he looked down at the kid again. She needed to go, holy crap.
“I can’t cut the corn with you on me… Could you get down?” Saber wiggled his nose and spoke kindly towards the little one. He needed two hands for this and he wasn’t comfortable with letting her just cling to him. If she slipped, she could get injured from the fall.

"KNOW THAT I'M ALREADY HOME" "Mister, isn't scary! Mister saved Sarah!"Charuen let out a small laugh as the young girl hugged the assassin even tighter and rubbed her cheek against his side. While the cleric had a soft spot for children and would have liked comfort the girl herself, it was quite obvious that Sarah had attached herself to Saber. This amused the healer greatly, for it was quite obvious that Saber had little experience with children. The uncomfortable expression on his face, as well as the way he moved as if he was scared any strong action would cause him to accidentally crush the child, made this all quite clear. "Perfect!" said Charuen, when Saber agreed to harvest some corn for her and Sarah. She clasped her hands together in delight, and the young girl echoed the healer's feelings with a cheer of her own. This would save the pinkette a lot of trouble-- her lack of arm strength and sharp swords made harvesting corn from the field quite difficult, and in all honesty if she could save some energy from walking across the entire field to purchase some already harvested corn... she would do it. The assassin began to speak again, stuttering as he looked down at the girl and then back at her. A knowing look appeared on Char's face, as she waited expectantly for Saber to request for her to remove the child. To her not-surprise, the young man eventually gave up, and instead asked if she had brought a basket. Stifling back a giggle, Charuen nodded and motioned towards the filled basket a few metres away. "It'll be a tight fit, but I'm sure we'll make it work." She said brightly. To her surprise the male adventurer spoke up once more, this time officially requesting for the child to unlatch herself from Saber's waist. The pinkette could see why he would ask for Sarah to do so-- after all, harvesting corn was a rough business and the last thing they wanted was for the young girl to fall and injure herself. "Sarah darling," began Charuen. "Do you mind coming here for a moment? Mister Saber has to get us the corn so that we can have a yummy dinner later!" She coaxed. The pink haired adventurer blinked in surprise as the young girl shook her head, a frown forming on her face. "No! Mister Saba is strong enough to carry Sarah around while getting corn! Sarah isn't coming down!"A soft sigh escaped Charuen's lips and she looked back up at Saber with a look of defeat. Sarah was quite the special case -- it wasn't very common for children to not listen to her. In fact, almost all the children she encountered in her life (both back in the real world and in the Unfounded Kingdom) loved her. Nonetheless, she had one more trick up her sleeve. Walking to her basket, she retrieved one round and ruby red apple and held it out. "Sarah, why don't we share this yummy apple while we wait for Mister Saber to harvest the corn?"The child hesitated for a moment as she eyed the apple with wide eyes. However, she eventually shook her head once more. "No, I want to be with mister Saba! He saved me! I'm going to marry him!""..." HP100% | MP100% WORDS 557 | ATTIRE x xNOTES | |

Do You Believe in Ghosts?
: Words : 1402 : Tags : Charuen: Skills Used : [N/A] : Notes : Rayne to the rescue. This was not funny. No, not at all. Saber did not like this, he hated this. Saber wasn’t ever good with children and this was exactly why. They were clingy, they were noisy, they asked too many freakin’ questions, and they were stubborn, so very stubborn. And yet, Saber only stared down at the little one as she clung to him like some kind of happy-go-lucky cancer. He didn’t intend to hurt the youngin’, nor did he intend to yell or nag at her. It just wasn’t right to do such a thing especially when she was so small, but she was indeed in the way. Saber wiggled his nose again and continued to stare down at the young one, even as Charuen tried to get her to unlatch. Part of him expected the response he received but the other part of him hoped that the expectation wouldn’t happen; she wasn’t going to let go. Instead, her joy turned into sorrow and a frown crossed her face; Saber let out a sigh.
“The things I do…” Saber looked at Charuen as she looked at him and he grimaced beneath his scarf. This could be more difficult than he thought. Hell, killing the Crop Guardian was easier than dealing with a child. Why couldn’t another one just show up? That would be great right about now. Please? Anyone? No? Screw you too, God. Of course you wouldn’t help.
Saber tapped his sword lightly against his thigh and adjusted his arm to help support the child a little better, but at the motion she seemed to cling to him even tighter. The Assassin rumbled quietly and waited for Charuen to come up with something else, anything else, because the only other option was for Saber to become the bad guy. Though if that happened, the child may be scarred for life and Saber didn’t exactly wish to be a nightmare to little children. He was a monster, sure, but not the boogeyman. There was a difference. The boogeyman was a towel, Saber was the athlete that used the towel to clean off the sweat after a workout. Thankfully, it looked as if there was one more idea in the Cleric’s mind as she made her way back to her basket. At first, Saber thought she had given up and was just going to get the basket. But then, the pinkette plucked an apple out of the woven object and held it up; bartering. Perfect! That will wo---
Did she just say marry?
“Whoa. Hey. Uh… No. Uh. That… That’s not… I can’t do that.” Saber looked down at the little girl as she put out some kind of marriage proposal and he scrambled for something to say. He glanced back at Charuen, his eyes open a little wider than usual as the words of “HELP. ME.” burned in them. He looked down at the little one and his abdominal muscles tensed. Saber stared at her for a minute and then released the third heavy sigh. Bad guy it was. Saber knelt down and set down his sword before carefully plucking the youngster off his hip, tugging even as she clawed and attempted to hang on. She eventually let go though and her face turned into a pout. He stood her up in front of him and placed a hand on her head, ruffling her hair slightly.
“I am sorry, little one, but Mister Saber can’t do that right now. Mister Saber has a lot of things to do still and he can’t look after a lovely lady like yourself. He has help the others in the world too and there are a lot of big, bad, evil things he has to take care of so that the world can be a better place. But maybe he can come back and visit every now and then. How’s that sound?” Saber closed his eyes a little as he smiled beneath his scarf. He patted the little one on the head softly and then stood back up, picking up his sword as he did so.
“Now, help me with this corn. Mister Saber will cut them down and Miss Char can’t carry it all.” Saber glanced over to Charuen and nodded to her lightly before turning away and walking over to the corn stalks. After just a glance, Saber could tell a few of them were ripe and ready to be harvested but there were still plenty that needed a few more days; Saber didn’t exactly wish to skip dinner for a few days so he swirled his blade and targeted the ones which looked the most yellow inside of their green blankets. Using his left hand, Saber grabbed onto the corn and then used his right hand to hack through the stalks, severing the vegetables from their stiff vines. Since there were three of them, Saber didn’t worry about gathering a lot of them up and it didn’t take long either.
Very methodically, Saber’s right and left hands worked to chop off the vegetables and he carefully eyed them each for any bugs or damage after doing so. He liked his food fresh and not harboring any nastiness, thank you. Once each vegetable was checked, he knelt down a little and passed it to the young child, Sarah, who he hoped would then pass them to Charuen. Just in case, Saber cut off six of the vegetables and checked each of them to ensure that they were full and undamaged. Once he had them, he sheathed his blade and then turned to Charuen.
“That should be enough, no? Two for each of us and whatever is left… Well I think I know of someone who’s hungry.” Saber smirked beneath his scarf and remembered that as lonely as he seemed, Saber was never truly alone. If he needed assistance, he had a few friends he could call upon at a moment’s notice. One of them he knew might enjoy this kind of situation, so he elected to add one more to their little party. Saber opened up his menu and swiftly tabbed mentally over to his Animal Tamer tab, selecting ‘Rayne’ from the list. A few moments passed as the summoning skill activated and then, out from the air, a small and furry creature appeared; a Fire Squirrel.
‹I have been summoned!› Rayne exclaimed as he appeared, his face pointing directly at the mess of corn stalks. His arms spread and he took a defiant, strong pose with his tail whisking behind him. That lasted for a few seconds before he slumped a little.
‹Elfboi, dah hell are deese?› Rayne spat, his orange eyes staring straight at the corn stalks, confused and concerned. The little creature was usually summoned for combat purposed but Saber had another task for him today; child rearing.
‹Those are corn stalks, Rayne. Don’t burn them.› Saber knelt down to Sarah’s level and then nabbed Rayne by the nape of his neck. The Fire Squirrel let out a yelp and pawed at the air, struggling a little as Saber twisted the little creature around so he was staring towards Sarah. Rayne’s monster label was ‘fire squirrel’, but Saber had to admit… He looked more like a small puppy.
“Sarah, this is Rayne. Rayne, meet Sarah. Sarah, Rayne wishes to play with you. He’s very friendly and well, he needs some exercise or he’ll get chubby.”
‹Did yah jus’ call mi fat? I’ll burn yer ‘brows off, Elfboi.› Rayne snarled and his eyes turned a little red as he glared back towards Saber. The Assassin huffed and placed Rayne down in front of the child, hoping she’d bite and let the two interact and hopefully play. Rayne put on a hardshow, but he was a kind creature. All bark and no bite, unless Saber stated it was necessary. Then, well, Rayne turned into a dog from hell. For now though, he was tasked with the role of entertaining the young one and as much as he loved to fight, Rayne also loved to play. Saber learned that during their initial meeting.
“Let’s head back to town, or at least somewhere we can get comfortable.” Saber looked to Charuen and then motioned towards Sarum. They weren’t far off from the city or the festivities so it wouldn’t take long for them to get back. And that was a good thing; Saber was getting really hungry.

"KNOW THAT I'M ALREADY HOME" Charuen watched with great interest as Sarah's expression changed from heartbroken and on the verge of tears to looking bashful and excited. She was surprised to see how well he responded to the young girl despite the look of terror he had given her just moments ago, as well his fumbling around earlier when she was still attached to him. Sarah smiled and nodded as she was given a pat. "A promise!" She declared. The pinkette smiled at the warm exchange between the assassin and the person of the land, before nodding at the older of the two as he mentioned her name and asserted that he would be cutting down the corn shortly. Seeing Saber's nod, Charuen walked away to retrieve her basket while Sarah jumped up and down excitedly. Giggles erupted from the young girl's lips as she followed behind the elf, reaching up from time to time to hold the corn that he harvested. The cleric walked over to the duo with her basket so that they could place their corn into it and free their arms. Charuen gave Sarah a pat on the head as the young person of the land dropped her harvested crops into basket. However, that was all she got to do, for before the healer could even open her mouth and compliment Sarah's work in helping Saber , the brunette had already scurried off back to the assassin. However, instead of attaching herself onto the adventurer, she let out a squeal and began to gush at the Fire Squirrel that had been summoned. "Hi squirrel!" She exclaimed, and pulled on the cheeks of the animal that was placed in front of her. However, if the animal tamer thought a squirrel would keep the young girl from latching onto him, he was wrong. Reaching for the little critter, Sarah then proceeded to give it a snuggle before placing it on her shoulder and climbing up Saber's leg once more. A light laugh escaped Charuen's lips and she picked up her basket. "Well then, shall we get going?" She asked, looking at the pair and the squirrel expectantly. The young woman looked around, before tapping her finger lightly against her chin (She had her basket wedged between her hip and one of hands). "Hmm, if I am correct, I believe we came from that way!" Removing her finger from her chin, the pink haired healer then proceeded to point to the left of where they were standing. It was a pity that her roleplaying class was no longer pathfinder. Ironically, she had switched it because she felt it to be not as useful as she thought it would be, and yet now here she was, in a situation where her old class would have been helpful. Nonetheless, Charuen considered herself to be quite good with directions. She could lead them out of the field. Maybe. Hopefully. As the party of four began their journey, the cleric turned to glance at Saber. Sarah had somehow managed to climb her way up the young man, and was now sitting on his shoulders, humming happily to herself. Deciding it wouldn't hurt to start some conversation, Char began. "So, what brings you here, Saber?" She asked, quite politely. She knew he was a very high level player, and thus would have assumed that he'd be occupying himself with raids and the like. Then again, she supposed even the highest leveled players needed a break from time to time. HP100% | MP100% WORDS 578 | ATTIRE x xNOTES | Merry Christmas, here is your present! |
