[attr="class","capsol"] Another day in the forests of Windsor, so it seemed. Not that the Monk necessarily had a problem with it, since lately he had been doing a whole bunch of nothing, so it was always a good excuse to head outside for a spell. Granted, he'd usually spend his time outside, but that was neither here nor there. Being outside when in the city was one thing, but being outside in the wilderness, so to speak, is another thing entirely. As he walked along the forested trail, he took the time to look up and into the treeline for a while. The sun was beating down gently through the leaves, causing him to smile just a tad. As much as most people preferred to stick to the shadows of night, he was more a child of the day. That being said, standing in the direct sunlight and looking up would've caused him a bit more pain than he would have liked, so he was still grateful for the shade that the trees provided. As he thought this, a gentle breeze began to wisp its way through the fauna, and even down at ground level where he was. It brought a slight chill, though it wasn't an un-welcomed one.
Today, Hiro had come out to this area in order to partake in some mentoring that he had heard about and signed up for, as was his go-to when he didn't have much else to do, or when he was trying to escape some work he didn't really want to do. The money he had been earning was nice, however, as it had brought him closer to his goal, but some of the jobs were just annoying and held no real significance in his mind, nor in his willingness to do such things. His expression turned just the slightest bit sour when he thought about it, but after having shaken his head back and forth, he wiped the thought from his mind, and continued to look up and to the leaf-riddled skyline. He let his mind wander a bit more as his feet carried him wherever they were to bring him, since quite often, he ended up walking in any given direction at any time without thinking about it. Whether it was a sort of wanderlust, or maybe just his idiocy taking over for a while, he tended to do this a lot when it came to walking around in the scenery of this world. While he did recall the mentoring he would need to do soon, his mind continued to shift from topic to topic, without his knowledge.
Eventually, Hiro began to hum a tune he'd heard a long time ago, from back in the other world. He didn't recall ever starting to hum, or even remembering the song at all, but his body had begun to act on its own. Such is the way he had become, after having been in this world for so long. It made sense that he would've gotten used to everything by this point, and most things just started to happen on their own, without his knowledge prior. Perhaps it was a routine he pulled from time to time. Either way, his gaze eventually returned to the ground level, seeing a small clearing just up ahead. That might be a good spot to stop, and wait for the would-be student to arrive. It was at this point in time that he realized just what it was he had been humming, and it caused him to smile a little more, as a result. An old song he hadn't heard for a while. Deciding to go up to a nearby tree, and sit down against it, he took the chance to look up and into the sky now. The clouds, all puffed up and gently gliding across the sky. The song he'd had in his mind emulated the world as it stood right now, calm and flowing. Despite the fact that he had been out here to do some fighting, it was always good to calm oneself before such things, since it wouldn't do to be high-strung. Silently, he watched the clouds overhead, waiting for the student to arrive.
But, perhaps he had calmed himself a bit too much. Eventually, though, he began to feel a bit too relaxed, eventually causing him to drift off into a slumber. Why he always fell asleep when it came to days such as this, he wasn't sure at all. But, it seemed to happen quite frequently. His last conscious thought was to try and get more sleep during the night, but afterwards, he had fallen asleep entirely.

"Steve walks warily down the street.."I snapped my fingers as I walked. "With the brim pulled way down low."I was in the ruins of what once was Windsor Castle, or so I thought. I was not a native of the London region and before moving to the city I had spent only the rare day in it. "Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,"This was in the old world of course. In this new world I had only ever been in the Londinium region and the immediately outlaying territories. I was far too weak to travel into the unknown regions. I wondered if my hometown was even extant in this world? I did not come from a no-name town, but so many people treated the Kingdom as being composed only of London and the occasional Scottish town near Loch Ness. Northern Ireland, Wales, and the rest of England were victims of this limited view of the Kingdom and often left out. I was guilty of this sort of thinking myself at times. "Machine guns ready to go."I stopped singing as I neared a clearing and I stopped walking. "Anyone there?" I said. WC: 198 Hirosame

[attr="class","capsol"] With his mind having let everything else go, as it journeyed off into a realm of slumber, Hiro couldn't recall if he had dreamed or not. What the Monk could recall was the image of a long-lost friend in the distance, and his attempt to catch up to them. The image then shifted over to another forest, though covered in a blue haze, which seemed more mystical than any of the current forests within this world. Or, in any world, from what he could tell. Hiro was able to recall having seen something like this before, in a previous daze-like vision he had had, a while back now. He couldn't recall much of it on his own, as it was very much like a confused vision, rather than a dream. This one seemed to be more dream-like in nature, though he was still just as confused as beforehand. What he could recall from that one other time was a tree, and what looked to be a person. The rest of it seemed to be as clouded as before, with only a small light at the end of the fog. He would have delved further into the dream, but something had caused him to wake up, not too much longer afterwards.
Hiro's eyes slowly began to open up, hearing what he could only assume was a voice nearby. He recalled having thought that he would need to get some more sleep in the future just before passing out for a little bit, but beyond that, he could only think of that small potted tree from the dream. Hiro wanted to get his mind on track, and try to figure out what exactly the dream could have meant, or what it was trying to tell him, but something else had caught his attention from there. What looked to be a girl, standing nearby the opening of the clearing, had called out, asking if anybody was around. Well, Hiro would be the first to admit that there was, though just springing up and shouting 'Someone's here, yeah' would likely not go over quite as well. Instead, stretched a little bit, letting his voice start up quietly. "Just a sec." He said, raising his arms up over his head. He extended his legs out a little bit, as well, and then proceeded to stand up. Managing to stifle back a yawn just after getting up onto his feet, he looked over to the girl, giving her a small wave. Pleasantries and introductions called for a small movement, so as to not scare someone off.
Afterwards, Hiro began to speak a bit more clearly. "I'm assuming you're here for the mentor request?" He kept his distance for the time being, since he wasn't sure whether or not to approach the girl yet. She could be here for something other than what he had stated, or she could be wandering around, and wondered if anybody else was around before she went along her own business in this small opening. Whatever her circumstance was, he'd still respond. "In any case, name's Hiro. If you're not here for the thing I mentioned, anything I can help you with?" He decided to leave it at that, since there wasn't all that much more to say. The Monk managed to put a soft smile onto his face, as he spoke, so as to give off a friendly vibe. It wasn't in his nature to start fights with random strangers, so best to go the safe, kind route. Of course he had to assume that this raven-haired girl was here for the same reason he was, given that this place seemed a little too far out of the way to make it a usual stop for most travelers. Given that this is also a particularly popular spot with some of the wildlife and monsters nearby, it would serve to reason that this person wasn't here for just no reason at all. Of course, assuming makes an ass out of you and me, so he'd keep his pre-ordained judgments to himself, and waited silently for the woman to respond.

"Oh ah.." I took a step back as someone answered my question. Some people called me paranoid, but I thought it was best to assume the worst in this world. One could never be sure that they were entirely safe. Granted death in this world was not the end, but I do not particularly enjoy the thought of going through the re-spawning procedure. Nor were we entirely sure about the long term effects of death in this world. Death in this world could be analogous to the eating of food in the underworld. "Hello there..." In Greek mythology it is said that the god of the underworld once kidnapped the daughter of mother earth. He planned to make her his bride. His plans were foiled however when mother earth intervened and forced him to return her daughter. However since the daughter had eaten food in the underworld she was obliged to return to her husband for free months out of the year. Death in this world could have only a minor effect, but who knew? The number of times we died could easily come to haunt us in the future. "Am I here for the mentor? It depends. Who are you?" It was doubtful we'd be forced to get married to the god of the underworld, but hey who knew? "Hiro? I am Persephone. Are you here for the mentoring request?" WC: 231 Hirosame

[attr="class","capsol"] Upon having given his own greeting, Hiro had been questioned almost directly afterwards. The way that this person, whose name he had been given, supposedly, had responded to his greeting started to put him on edge almost immediately. He was still far enough away that their interface would pop up onto his own, so he couldn't verify if that was their real name or not. Of course, such would be the downfall of the system, in that it usually didn't give the name of the other person who would partake in the mentor-student quest. All he did know was that there would be another person along, the student, and their mission for the time being. The thing that they would need to do here would be to kill a few slimes in the nearby area, and collect a certain item that only drops every so often. Leave it to Elder Tale to have a percentage of drops like most other MMO's, which would drive the playerbase up the wall in any other circumstance. However, given that this world was now a reality, it made sense that some monsters would be different than others. None of that mattered, though, if this person was to keep up their little wall.
Hiro decided against moving toward the female, since he would prefer to keep any unnecessary confrontation out of the way for now. If the girl was here for the same reason he was, then he knew that, should this person attack, they likely won't be able to beat him. Taking into account the student is usually below the level of 15, the Monk would have no problem defending himself. However, he disliked fighting other people almost as much as his distaste for jackasses. Should this other being have been here only to spark trouble, though, and had only decided to use the mentor spiel as a cover, since he mentioned it just a few moments before, then there was the possibility that they could be as high a level as his own. For now, all he had to go on was the fact that they were here in a rather remote location, out of the way of most other things. While he wanted to understand this person's intentions, it wouldn't do well to start questioning them left and right, probably. Hell hath no fury like a woman being consistently accused or assumed of. Once again deciding to keep his assumptions to himself, Hiro let out a small breath, and began to focus on answering delicately.
"Well, yes," The Monk began after a few moments. "I am here for just such a reason. It'd be kinda silly to ask you if you were here for the same thing, if I didn't know why I'd be here, don't you think?" An attempt at a small observational joke, though likely to be ignored, since it felt like one of those situational jokes one would hear at a party, when two people are awkwardly trying to make conversation. Either way, he'd go with it for now, since there wasn't much else to run on. Whether there was any deeper meaning to the girl's statements and questions beforehand was beyond him, as Hiro had generally taken things at face value. It would be unfortunate to have this person be a crafty one with their words, which Hiro could be if he tried, and the meanings would end up just going right over his head otherwise. He suddenly had a creeping suspicion that the conversation might turn either sour or strange at any moment, despite his decision to continue. "If you're here for the mentoring, then I look forward to helping you out. I'm guessing you already know what we're here for?" He was at a loss for what else to say, and wanted the ball to be in the girl's court, to see how she reacted from there. Just in case, his body had loosened itself a bit, as was his usual style of fighting. Assumptions suck, but one can't be too careful. Especially with an introduction such as this.

"Ionno." I shrugged. "Maybe you were hired by the mentor to test me. It is possible that you are not really here. It is possible you are just an illusion and are supposed to represent some sort of fear I have? And when I defeat you I come to realize that the person I was most scared of was myself." I raised my arms and held them together, as if holding an invisible sword, and swung at empty air. "You know. Like in that one movie about British people in space? With the green muppet? I have to admit you are not what I would think I was most scared of. I always thought my biggest fear was something with more teeth." Like a shark or a bear. "Is that the case? Or do I have to fight something with teeth after all?" I swung my invisible sword once more. WC: 150 Hirosame

[attr="class","capsol"] An eyebrow had been raised, as the girl had begun to speak further. As Hiro listened to her speech, which felt more like rambling, he couldn't help but think that this person was either incredibly imaginative, or clinically insane. While neither of those were probably the case, from what he could tell, Hiro assumed that they were just playing off all the different scenarios in their mind before accepting what is really there. However, their idea of what a mentor was in this world was off. It was very clear that they were getting nowhere at the moment, though this person, and how they were talking, came across as more of a challenge to the Monk than much of anything else. Perhaps they were testing him, instead? Perhaps the mentor is to become the student, and the student, into the mentor! He wasn't entirely sure what their game was, but if there was to be a game, then consider Hiro a player!
A smirk appeared on his face, as he folded his arms. He looked condescendingly towards the girl. "Oh? Have you figured me out so quickly?" He asked, his tone having shifted to a more sinister one. If Hiro was meant to be an actor, then he would perform his part. Tilting his head and body back a bit, he sneered at the girl. "Are you so certain that I am not your mentor, after all? Perhaps all of what you're thinking is also part of my ruse. I could be entirely real, and my goal was to make you think I am a fake!" Hiro raised his arms up above his head, playing the part as much as he could. He silently activated the Idol skill Showtime! above himself, a spotlight shining down brightly onto him. "Indeed, you have fallen for the trap, girl! And now, you must partake in the next part of this, since you have so foolishly stumbled into my plot!" Here came a bit of a long-shot, hoping that the girl would oblige in his delusional reaction.
Bringing his arms back down to his side, he stood in a battle stance. Of course, he felt like a nitwit for doing this, though there was a method to his madness. At least, he thought so. His goal here was to actually try and fool the girl into attacking him. He wouldn't retaliate, but more withstand the hits as she made them. Just to be safe, though, Hiro quickly opened up his menu, and lowered his own level down to 15: The bare requirement for a mentoring to take place. Her attacks wouldn't hurt much, whatever she decided to attack with, and he would monitor how she fought. Hiro's thought was that if he could instruct the girl on how to better fight, then at the very least, his job as a mentor would have succeeded. For now, he needed to sell the part. Or, try to. "Show me your strength, and reveal to the world your power! Hone your technique, and learn how to better yourself through combat! Become as strong as you were meant to be! And, maybe one day, you shall fight your monster with many teeth!" The smirk remained on his face as he finished this last sentiment. Of course he felt stupid for this. But, if you can't beat them, join them. However, a funny thought crossed his mind, concerning what the girl had said before. If Hiro was to be what she is most scared of, then at full level, he would have fangs instead of teeth.

Aha! I let out an internal shout of joy. My suspicions had been right after all and I was meant to fight the well lit man before me. My joy lasted no more than few seconds before turning into panic. How exactly was I meant to defeat him? I quickly ran through my available moves. Heal? Unless he was a zombie that would do no good. Cardinal rose? Useful for getting around when I got lost, but useless in defeating an enemy. Wind bullet? Out of my available moves it was unique in being offensive, but it was not meant to be a primary attack so much as a way of ensuring I had a way to deal with long range threats. I focused my eyes towards my opponent and took in a gulp of air. Okay Patricia, calm down and think. I began by taking the nighthawk fighting stance. The stance boosted my strength, evasion and attack speed. The evasion boost was meaningless given the gap in power between myself and my opponent. Any attack directed at me would surely hit. At least the stance's increase to my attack speed should help me land as many blows as possible. After taking my stance I ran towards Hiro and prepared to attack with my fists. What else could I do? Given that we were in a clearing I could not try to use the environment to my advantage. There was a tree, but I could not see a way to make use of it. I wonder if there are wood crafters capable of making weapons mid-battle. It was at moments like these that I envied those classes that had a weapon to rely on when their physical strength alone was insufficient. What could I equip? Midas' hand? "Ahh!" I said as I formed fists out of my hands. Hopefully I would get a shouting boost from it. WC:317 Hirosame

[attr="class","capsol"] Hiro found himself being rather shocked in his mind. That worked? Seriously? He wasn't necessarily able to believe that by giving into something perhaps quite as silly and childish as this, he'd garner a response, akin to what he wanted to get out of the girl. Now that she seemed to be getting into the fight mentally, all Hiro had to do was make sure that she didn't get too out of hand. Granted, he had already gotten out of hand, himself, what with how he was acting at the moment, but that didn't really mean much, since this was mostly an act. As for the girl getting out of hand, should she lose her own step and stumble or something, she might not be able to recover quite as quickly, or so Hiro thought. Then again, she seemed to be a rather eccentric person, so perhaps he wouldn't need to watch out for anything, should they end up hurting themselves. The only thing near himself was grass, and the tree he stood near, but aside from that, nothing else, really.
The Monk raised an eyebrow as the girl took a stance. A familiar one, specifically made for Monks. So, she was also a fist-fighter? Maybe there was a reason, after all, for the two as mentor and student, whether the girl thought of Hiro as one at the time. Hiro's stance hadn't shifted yet, though he had an urge to do something possibly flamboyant and idiotic, which he managed to quell after a moment. The effects of the nighthawk stance was that it gave the user some added speed and attack power. Useful, indeed, though the bonus it gave wasn't without drawbacks. It effectively lowered the guard of the user, as it was more of a damaging stance. Hiro, on the other hand, preferred not to use any stances, other than the ones he had learned from the Elder in Moon Dance Forest. But, that's a thought for another time. His mind had been cut off from its thought pattern as the girl rushed in to attack!
Or, so Hiro thought. Instead, she merely shouted out, as she prepared herself further for combat. A smirk redrew itself onto the Monk's face, as he lowered himself slightly. "I see." He mumbled to himself, quiet enough so that the girl would, hopefully, not hear him. From there, his voice increased in volume. "Waiting for your opponent to make the first move? A clever choice!" Hiro taunted. "By giving up the initiative, you receive instead the chance to counter, and take your opponent by surprise!" A small chuckle escaped from his mouth, as he continued. "I couldn't think of a wiser course of action, myself! However..." Hiro's body launched forward. "The odds are still not in your favor!" This, of course, was a total lie. As his body moved forward at a decent pace, he threw a punch, aimed just a little to her left of the center of her stomach. It was easy enough to dodge, especially with nighthawk active, and gave her room to dodge, and even counter from there. Striking away his usual routine of having a contingency plan for if his attack missed, he followed through with the attack, over-committing to it. This would give the girl, Patricia, as her nameplate said, which he was now close enough to see, a chance to fight back. Mentoring sometimes requires a bit of sacrifice, in order to move forward in training. But, this all depended on if Patricia would see the move as well, and dodge. He could only hope, as his fist continued forward.

"OUCH!" I let out a cry as Hiro landed a punch on me. It hurt! A lot! "OUCH OUCH OUCH!" I threw myself on the floor, placing my hands over the wound and preparing to use heal. I had began to move when I saw the attack, but it all happened so quickly that all I managed to do was nudge to the side before being struck by a partial hit on my side. The level difference between us, in addition to my lack of armor, meant that even that partial hit was sufficient to cut deeply into my HP. "OUCH! You actually hit me! What sort of jerk hits a lady?!" Granted I might be exaggerating the extent of the damage. With our difference in levels I could not win a straight battle, but maybe if I got him to lower his defenses I could possibly have a chance. A fight was not about beating your opponent at his best. Sometimes it was sufficient to catch your opponent at his worst in order to beat him. I waited patiently for him to make his next move, all the while continuing my act of a spoiled brat. [attr="class","capsol"] Well, if this didn't put a dumbfounded look upon the Monk's face, then nothing would. The other person here, once again confirmed name of Patricia, had attempted to dodge, but it wasn't enough to get out of the way of Hiro's incredibly awkward and easily-countered punch. It managed to nick her on the side, though not much else from there. That being said, though, the impact from the hit was still substantial, and did decrease a good amount of the girl's HP. Accursed level differentiation and all that nonsense having taken effect, the girl recoiled onto the ground, shouting out in pain. Now, there were a few things wrong with this, the first of which being that any pain the user felt was entirely mentally-inflicted. The game itself had no method of transferring pain to the actual user, unlike some old cruddy stuck-in-a-game anime Hiro had watched back in the day. This place didn't really permit for physical violence to actually have any negative effect upon the one who was hit, outside of possibly killing their avatar, and having them respawn. That was just one of the things, though.
The next was the manner by which the girl had begun acting as she hit the floor. Hiro was reminded of a spoiled child, as he stood back up, taking a few feet back cautiously. The girl didn't seem to take well to having received damage, bringing about a question in his mind. Why would she opt to be a Monk, one of the tank-classes, if she didn't realize she'd be getting pummeled almost all the time as a result of her class choice? Of course, maybe it was just Hiro's mentality on the subject, in that he was used to being hit, but was also capable of dodging fairly well, as an evasive tank. Patricia might not be quite as quick on her feet as the Monk thought, though she would definitely have to learn to be. Maybe that's why she was here today, trying to get better at dodging as well as learning the class itself a bit more. If that's the case, then Hiro had plenty to teach her. Different things about the way people moved, monsters moved, and different ques by which an agile being could dodge an attack reliably. On top of that, countering is also an incredibly important part of the job, since Monks also have the highest damage output, at the expense of having the lowest defenses of the tank classes.
All that being said, though, didn't cause the girl to stop writhing on the ground, as she continued to shout out in pain. At this point, it was actually getting a little worrisome. A hot wash of embarrassment flung its way across his face, when she called him out on hitting her, though it mostly just added to the sentiment of the spoiled child in his mind. Maybe Hiro had gone a bit too far with the attack, somehow. Of course, if Patricia would allow Hiro to actually attempt to teach her or something, then things might go a bit better. But, as that didn't seem to even remotely be the case, he would need to try and rectify his own actions. Letting out a bit of a sigh, Hiro opened up his inventory for just a moment, reaching to grab one of the Medicinal Tablets he had. It would be a bit strong, when one considers that it would overheal the girl incredibly, but it would serve to help smooth things over, he figured. As he brought the item to life in his hand, he took a step closer, knelt down, and held the item out to the girl. "Hey, uhh..." He began. "Sorry about that. I kinda expected you to dodge the punch." He didn't know what else to say from there, since the rest of it would be her grabbing the item, and wait to see her reaction from there. He expected her to take the item, and then storm off, which he wouldn't blame her for. Hopefully, once it's all done, Hiro could forget this ever happened.
