Kaos & Lamenta As you chat, you hear the laughter of a small child. From behind you, giggling and smiling, a tiny girl appears, no older than 8. As she passes by you, she gives you a wide grin and slows to a stop. Her features, although young, are clearly well proportioned and show the great potential in her beauty. She has snow white hair and striking red eyes, although she seems kind and possibly a bit mischievous. After a moment she giggles again and holds out her left hand to you both while pointing with her right towards the dance floor in the middle of the town. She is clearly hoping you two will escort her and share a dance. She doesn't seem to speak but, looking at her, she seems almost as if she may not be human. It is your choice if you accept her offer. They seem to be wondering if it's the same thing that happens every year when this festival is hosted, although their comments are vague. They seem to be both curious and almost a bit nervous about it. One guy says hopefully it won't be as bad as it was three years ago. The other guy agrees and comments that it was good that at least it won't be snakes this year, he hates snakes. They share a laugh and continue on their way.

Dorian accepted the food offering, throwing in a remark that he should spend time with her more often. Well, she could understand that. Two of their meetings now had involved the Sorceress giving the Shaman free food. Who could dislike that? She smiled at the comment and nodded, agreeing. She enjoyed her new found friends company and was on board with the idea of getting to know each other better. As damaged as her heart was, it was certainly not irreparable – she still held the capacity to care about others. Although perhaps it would be some time until she allowed herself to feel what she had felt for the Monk, which was surely understandable. While she did not fully recognize it on a conscious level, having Dorian here with her tonight was keeping her mind occupied, and in it's own small way, slowly mending her broken heart. Simply having someone to talk to allowed her to do something other than linger and gave her real reason to be here, as opposed to simply keep up appearances and not cause concern. Artemisia waited until Dorian took the first bite of the meat before she took her own. She didn't want to seem too eager to stuff her face, after all. The blonde took a small bite, tearing a chunk of the snack off and chewing it slowly, carefully to fully enjoy the flavor. It was savory, of course, and quite juicy. As soon as she pressed her teeth down into it, the delicious flavor gushed out, coating her tongue and sending signals of amazingness to her brain. She chewed it thoroughly before swallowing it down. Despite her love of food, she had found it difficult to eat the last couple days. She would still get excited about the smell and the thought of it but when she actually got to the act of eating, her mind seemed to reject it and she would feel full after only a few forced bites, even though she knew it wasn't true. It still tasted good, too, so she was struggling with the mental block. Even now, after just this tiny half bite, she was already feeling as if she had eaten a full course meal. Probably another side effect of the personal trauma she had experienced. As the pair made their way through the crowd in search of a quieter spot, a familiar, and rather squat, individual popped up in front of them, giving them hearty pat on the back in greeting. It was Tobin, the often drunk, dwarf Monk. Although Artemisia and Tobin were similar in height, his short stature was somehow more noticeable. Perhaps it was that he was of the male gender, which was typically taller, or that he was quite rounder and thicker than the fox tail. Even still, it could have been his face full of thick hair. Then again, maybe her petite frame stood out more than she realized, as well. She did have these giant pig tails which went all the way down to the ground, which perhaps was a silly looking but she rarely noticed. Regardless, it seemed he was curious about the festival. He first asked about the “wishing tree” which Artemisia assumed was the tradition of offering something to the Sakura Spirit. “ Ah,” She started, her head immediately and automatically turning in the direction of the tree, to somehow confirm where she was versus it. “ The Landers here believe that it's good luck to make an offering to the Sakura Tree Spirit at the start of every year. If she accepts your offering, she gives you a fortune as a thank you,” The fox tail girl explained. “ It's considered a bit of a taboo, basically bad luck, if you take part in the festivities without making an offering, though, so I'd definitely recommend doing it as soon as possible.” She paused and smiled, “ You don't want the wrath of the spirits, after all,” She giggled softly at the thought of the dwarf being harassed by some sort of invisible being. “ It's over that way,” She pointed after she had finished giving him a brief summary. Having apparently accepted her directions, Tobin quickly followed it up with an offer of drinks. Of course, it was not intended to be a free sample, he made it clear he expected payment for his beverages. She had never been a drinker, so her immediate thought was to deny him politely. After a moment of consideration, Artemisia flipped a coin in the Brewers's direction, deciding to take him up on his sales pitch. It only took a moment for Tobin to produce a drink for her from his inventory. She glanced at Dorian from the corner of her eye as she took the hard drink in her free hand. Her other hand was still holding her half eaten skewer of meat. She wondered what the Shaman was thinking... she even wondered what she was thinking. Curiosity, perhaps. The desire to do something new, anything to possibly get her out of the funk she had found herself in. Maybe the drink would stir her appetite, at the very least. The liquid had a strong smell and, quite hesitantly, Artemisia lifted the mug to her lips and took a sip. Her entire face scrunched up with disgust and shock at the taste. While she was old enough to partake in the various adult beverages of the world, she almost never did so so she hadn't been quite sure what she was expecting. She swallowed it down awkwardly and cleared her throat afterwards, coughing a little. The pointed ears atop her head swiveled back as she felt it burn down her throat. Nope, this was not for her. “ Um... Oh, here Dorian, I got this for you,” She said after a slight pause, offering the drink to her companion. ---- Notes: I went ahead and just had Tobin give her a drink in exchange, didn't think that would hurt much but let me know if it's an issue. It seemed that the duo would not get far towards their vague destination, as only a few feet from the crowd they were thoroughly - and I mean thoroughly - greeted by a familiar, stout dwarf, Dorian and Artemisia both being alerted to his presence with a similar and albeit friendly thump on the lower sections of their backs. Turning with the fox tail, the Shaman gave a disgruntled chuckle, his free hand idly moving to rub at where he had been impacted by the dwarf's heavy Monk-trained hand. "A pleasure to see you again, Tobin; it has been a while, hasn't it? I'm surprised you recognised me." Thinking back, on both occasions that Dorian had met the dwarf, he had been in his old body, before he had taken the Appearance Change Potion. Fortunately, Tobin seemed to have a good eye.
He seemed to be in a bit of a pickle, at least in terms of what to do within the festival, but he at least knew the 'wishing tree', which was a good start. Artemisia was quick to help answer the dwarf's questions, and direct him towards the Great Sakura, where they had just departed from earlier. Bowing his head to Tobin, the Shaman decided to leave them to it, turning instead to look out for a place that was out of the way. In the distance, he caught a glimpse of a small trinket shop that had advertisements directing inside, with various people exiting from the store holding baubles shaped in the likeness of Oxen, the animal celebrated for representing the current year. Crossing his arms over his chest, Dorian stowed the place to memory for later; perhaps Artemisia might like a gift to cheer her up.
The Shaman glanced back over his shoulder at the Sorceress, who was still busy with Tobin, though they seemed to be chatting about his beverage wares; Dorian recalled the dwarf being a Brewer, so it made sense. He couldn't help but broker a smile, looking down at the floor to avoid being caught staring, his head turning to revert back to looking out for a quiet spot. A hum began to build on his lips as he lifted a hand up to rub at his chin in contemplation, piercing his eyes through the crowd until he managed to spy out a rather derelict but still quite beautiful sakura tree; not as grand as the Great Sakura, of course, but it was large enough to prevent any shops from dwelling near it, which meant that the crowds were basically steering clear of the small area to get to the festivities.
Idly biting at the next few luxurious pieces of meat on his skewer, the Shaman turned to relay his findings back to the Sorceress, only to find she had beaten him to the punch of instigating another conversation. He looked down in surprise as she offered up a drink, no doubt the alcoholic beverage she had procured from Tobin. It was easy to notice that she had partaken in it herself, to which Dorian simply drew out a playful smirk, before playing into her façade. "Ah, for me? That's very kind of you..." He reached out to gently take the beverage from her, grasping it in his hand and bowing his head forward gently in a gesture of thanks. Lifting the serving up to his lips, he quickly took a swig of the burning liquid inside.
Instantly he felt the strong sensation of alcohol coursing down his throat as he gave a slight cough of surprise; he hadn't expected it to be that strong, though now he saw why the Sorceress was loathe to have any more. Chuckling at his own expense, he released a heavy, content sigh, the heat of the drink starting to transition from painful to warming, which was a pleasant sensation given the cold temperatures. He looked down to the fox tail again, holding out the cup with a teasing smile. "Are you sure you don't want some? I wouldn't want to be so selfish as to keep it all to myself, and besides, it's good for keeping you warm on the inside." He kept the beverage held out, waiting for her to give him a reply.
While she contemplated the offer, he lifted up the last piece of meat on his skewer, tugging it off the stick with his teeth and chewing it down into his mouth. Once he had swallowed the last of his treat, he gestured with the skewer - almost like a conductor - towards the spot beneath the tree he had spotted earlier. "There's a really beautiful sakura tree just over yonder, looks to have been left alone. If you're still up for it, we can head over there and take a load off, enjoy some much needed quiet?" It had been a rough month, more so for Artemisia than for himself, and the chance to just relax, even if for just a few moments, could do them both some good.

[attr="class","capsol"] As much as he wanted to focus solely on his date for the evening, Hiro’s ears perked up for just a moment, as some people nearby had begun to speak about the noises up in the trees. Something about a repeat of previous celebrations? He didn’t listen nearly well enough to take enough of a note about the incident in question, as his mind was focused on something much more prevalent and important in his mind. Going back to the question Sayha had asked him, he recalled the fact that there were indeed the paper boats that people could make and send off into the river. While it was a noble and kind thing to do, it didn’t particularly strike Hiro as something he would do. Of course, he had his own wishes for the upcoming year, but mostly stuff he’d keep to himself for now. It wouldn’t do to have other people find out the things that he was wishing for, or that he’d hope would become a reality. Such things would be revealed in due time, as a majority of it would be concerning inventions, however, he would be lying if he didn’t wish to be closer to a certain somebody. But, that's a thought for later.
His mind snapped back to reality after having gotten fairly off-track. He needed to answer Sayha himself, though the pause in between their conversation was prevalent at this point. "Sorry, I was just thinking about something." He said, trying to pass it off somehow. He knew that it wouldn't work, but needed to say something. "I'm gonna pass on sending a paper boat down the river for now, maybe get to it later on." A sheepish grin appeared on Hiro's face for a moment. "You weren't planning to watch over my shoulder as I made the boat, to see what I was gonna write, were you?" The Monk joked. As much as he was kidding, he didn't think that Sayha would do something like that. Especially because she had managed to ship off her own boat before Hiro had a chance to meet up with her. If she got to see what he wrote, then it would only be fair that he saw what she wrote. At that moment, a sudden waft of the food that was being prepared not too far from where they were at present came his way, causing him to sniff a few times in excitement. An audible "Mmm..." escaped his mouth, as the smile on his face started to broaden just a bit more.
"Y'know what, food sounds kinda good right now." Hiro admitted, turning back to face the Assassin. "What do you say we go ahead and grab something to eat? Even a snack or something would be good, doesn't have to be a full meal. Quite frankly, I'm starving." A slight chuckle came from him, as he looked back to the food stalls up ahead. His stomach grumbled just a tad, this one was louder than what normally would have erupted from there. He looked down to his belly, and then back up to Sayha, feeling just a little embarrassed. "I mean... I wasn't kidding." He smiled wryly after a moment, trying to pass it off as a joke or something like that. However, from having felt his stomach churn like that, he really did want to grab some food as soon as possible. But, he was a gentleman, probably. He wouldn't leave Sayha just standing there as he went off to gorge on food. No no no, instead, he held out his hand to her. His intention was for them to at least hold hands on the way over. Not for the sake of not getting lost, but more because, well... He just wanted to. "C-C'mon, let's go grab some food before it's all gone." He did hope, though, that Sayha would agree to the hand-holding, but if she didn't want to, then it wouldn't bother him all that much. At least, he thought that he wouldn't. Probably. Maybe.

Before Hiro had a chance to respond to Sayha’s questions, she could hear some villagers speaking… or maybe just two guests. Either way, it was two men were talking, and her <Hearing Aptitude> picked up on most of the conversation.
“So far, so good,” the first guy spoke.
“Yeah, at least nothing mysterious happening,” the second guy responded.
“So far,” the first guy shrugged, “but there’s still plenty of time. Hopefully it’s not as bad as three years ago.”
“I can agree with you about that,” the second guy nodded, “At least if it does happen, there won’t be snakes. The evil things; I hate them.” The two men then laughed and began to take the path back to the main area of where the festival was.
Sayha didn’t have much time to think about it as Hiro spoke up. He apologized for being distracted… but Sayha had been distracted as well… he just probably didn’t notice which was fine. He explained that he was going to pass on the paper boat, and asking in a joking manner if she had planned on sneaking a look at his boat.
Sayha smiled at that, “No, and it wouldn’t be fair since I already sent my ship down the river.” Hiro was smiling now, and he said that food sounded good. Sayha giggled slightly under her breath. It was always food with Hiro, but that was fine with her. “Food sounds really good, actually,” Sayha agreed, “The booths had a lot of good looking food.” Then, Hiro held out his hand for Sayha. Sayha felt her face flush slightly, but she took his hand gently.
It seemed that Hiro was letting Sayha take the lead which was fine with her. She led them up the path that met back up with the main festival where things were beginning to kick off it appeared. The dance floor had quite a few people now, and there were a bunch of food stands. Sayha walked around, looking at what each one had to offer. And absolutely everything looked and smelled amazing. Of course the fun part was trying to tell what everything was. Thanks to spending time in the Village more recently, she was able to tell what some of the items were. yakitori and karaage were chicken, yakitori being grilled with karaage being fried. Then there was takoyaki which were balls with octopus in them. Ikayaki was grilled squid on a stick. And of course there was even more than that. In the end, Sayha decided on buying a stick of yakitori and some takoyaki. She thought that the ikayaki looked good, but she wasn’t sure if she would like it or not. She waited for Hiro to get what he wanted as well, and she looked around. She smiled as she saw a familiar face… along with another familiar face and a new one.
It was Dorian, a shaman that she knew very well by that point in time. Then there was a fox tail girl… Artemisia. Sayha recalled meeting her when she first went to the guild house, and she had been fairly nice… though she had also been the one who sat on Hiro’s lap, probably just to embarrass him. With the two was a dwarf that Sayha did not recognize.
Once Hiro was done choosing his food, Sayha walked over towards Dorian. “Fancy seeing you here, Dorian,” Sayha greeted him with a smile. Sayha then nodded towards the fox girl, “Nice to see you again as well, Artemisia.”

If the Dwarf was surprised at the familiarity his face showed little sign of it, rather he gave a chuckle as he settled into the role he settled for himself of the self-confident Dwarf. After all few didn't know about the dwarf, or so he liked to imagine. "Aye, 'ow could I nut recongise ya? Ya hav' tha' same aura 'bout ya, lik'a coin ya can't change 't's nature."

Good ta see ya doin’ well.”Introductions and the like concluded, the Dwarf turned to his tour guide, A stoic nod accompanied the explanation as he followed her gesture with a slight arch of the eyebrow, for some reason Tobin had never noticed that @suggerygiggles was one of the few people he was tall enough to look in the eye, the change in perspective was refreshing as was not having to dislocate his neck. "Well, dun’t ya be worrehin’ lassie, I'mma used ta tamin' me spirits." The Dwarf winked as a low rumble tickled his throat that a little nod settled, still, Tobin felt that the conversation had reached it’s eeb and decided to flow. I mean, go. "Still, et's alwah's a gawd thing ta keep them on me side, thank 'ya 'n' hav a happie eve. Oh, ‘n’ don’t touch tha’ yella snow! Gahahah!"With that they parted ways and the Dwarf drifted into a food stand and obtained the +1 kebab of Oral nourishment, the meaty chunks and veg he eagerly devoured whole with singular bites as he flited through grounds with the grace of air up the smooth stone steps, before the crowds parted he drifted around the pagoda shrine to arrive at the base of his destination. Despite himself, the sheer scale and majesty of the great tree took him aback, great wasn’t a very good descriptor as the tree thrust up into the night’s sky like a pillar, the petals like snow in the soft blue hue, rekindling childhood memories despite being of exotic nature in the previous world. Craning his head back he stepped closer to its base, surely the majestic beast to be at a couple 10’s of meters in height. As he knelt the sensation of it’s overwhelming scale cupped the nights sky, allowing only the light of lantern and orb and the stars that filtered through its thick branches. Tobin chuckled as after all, it’s scale dwarfed him though then again, pretty much everything did. By this point the crowd had ebbed to a trickle of pilgrims and causal tourists, so less people would be around to see this. Just as well really as unlike many Tobin still struggled to adjust to the idea that everything had sentence in this land of magic. Two years hadn't changed the flaws in his perception. “I feel so bloodeh stupid… Ahh well, mite as well geton width it.”A click of the fingers summoned the hud of the inventory and with a couple quick pokes, a bottle neck popped out of the inventory and with a tug a simple, brown pigmented bottle twirled into being, along with a pair of shot glasses that jingled into his right palm. A loud sigh escaped this lips as he turned the bottle over in his broad fingers; there was no detailing on the bottle for he hadn't intended to sell or give away. For a year it had sat in his inventory, a perfected brand of a vodka drink that Caer had commissioned of him late the last year; the last request made of him while in Aeryn. “Bin a while since ‘ve had ye out, haven’t ya little fella? Well, the last commission I really put my ‘eart inta, can’t think a more adapt gift fa ta’ new year.”A soft chuckle tickled his throat as his finger gripped the spin top and broke the seal, the removal of the seal filled the air with the soft scent of sweet chocolate, one that caused his nostrals to flare anticipation as he took it in it and poured it into both glasses, one he set at the bottom of the tree while the other he inspected in his palm. The texture like a liquid gold in the lantern light. “Dun’t mind me tree, just let me hav’ a bit oaf tis, fa old times sak’.” "Everything!" she screamed at the shot glass, "Everything was bad!"
His eyebrow arched, that wasn’t a good memory! Another sip. “I am” Her left hand, which had a tighter grip both in the real world and in Elder Tale, gripped the Dwarf’s right wrist. She pulled it violently to her left side and flicked her wrist so that the Dwarf’s right wrist would be snapped backwards. “...NOT a cockroach!”
“Ahh, the time she tore mah arm off… Fa fecks sake! Dun’t I hav’ aneh good memories?!”
Now the rest of the little glass was knocked back. Just to be certain. "Chocolate vodka," the wolf-hair simply said. Unimaginative, straight-forward. But if she had to use a more fanciful name... "Blood of the Damned!" Caer exclaimed, "Maybe I will turn to a vampire when I drink it, and then I will sparkle under sunlight!" “That’s… What I wanted ta recall. Et’s been too long.”The dwarf grinned as that rumble emerged from his throat, betrayed by that misty sweet nectar trickled down to become the fire, the warm after kick complimented the warm fragrance of the chocolate quite nicely. In the end it had been simpler to melt chocolate then to melt it, and the soft cameral smoothed the bitter taste to rest well on the pallet and provide a more gradual aftertaste. The second glass he put at the base of the tree untouched to join the other otherings as he spoke softly. “Kyu, Kumori, Ox, ‘n’ the others. Tis bin a year since we’ve parted oar separate ways, but hopefulleh, whether they be, tha’ their new year. Tha’ ta lass can stay ‘way from ta drink, Kumori ta come clean of tha’ siscon crap, well, ‘n’ tha’ othars? Well, ta do whatever et is they do.” Then, with a slow gradual incline he tipped the bottle, letting the golden brown nectar upon parched ground to be taken in by the tree’s roots, accompanied by a heavy sigh as his last burden was release from him. “Tis drink is my memory; drink deep tree ‘n’ carry season’s joy well inta tha next year.”
With that the Dwarf remained with a misty eyed gaze as he listened in to the soft murmur of the village ambiance, the soft tingle of water, content but to spend a few minutes in rest. Though when the voice of the tree had finished, he spoke but a simple sentence. "Can I interest ya in a performance lassie?1-24

Until a young girl who is no more than eight years old come up to them with a wide grin painted on her face. She has a long silver hair that gives an illusion of shining under the night sky and black kimono, traditional clothes come from Japan worn whenever a festival happens by japanese girls. All Lamenta could notice that, this girl is giggling a lot like funny thing are happening in front of her. That's quite unusual for him, yeah lamenta loves a good laugh now and then, but it has a clear object on why he is laughing. Her red eye could strike people heart, he assume, although he didn't feel anything like gotten strike by it but it has a charm on it. After giggling for a while, she pointed out to a dance floor without saying anything.
Does that mean, she want to dance on the dance floor?, well there is no other meaning to that other than that. He looks at the dance floor, there are full of people who are dancing right now, from a man to a woman, from young to old, adventurer and people of the land mixed together harmoniously by dancing on the dancing floor. Lamenta put a small smile, well it won't hurt to go there, he was actually plan to go there sooner or later.
The problem is, is he a good dancer? Nope, he is completely bad at dancing stuff, he doesn't know how to dance properly Even in the real world when he was attending a dance party with their parents, he keep stepping on people's feet until it swollen and makes him force to apologize million times. He planned to the dance floor not as the dancer, but as the musician who brings out the joy of dancing. Well that's rich coming out from a bad dancer.
Heck why not, Lamenta shrugged. He escort the lady to the dance floor. As they arrive there, the lady start dancing. Lamenta play his dizi flute, following the rhythm of the dancing. This will be interesting days.

Dorian politely accepted the drink she offered, probably suspecting that she was trying to get rid of it more than she was trying to kindly offer to share it. She was grateful that he seemed to be readily able to pick up on when she needed a subtle hand. He didn't draw attention to it and made it seem as if it was natural, saving her the mild embarrassment she would have felt otherwise, since she couldn't quite handle the drink. Artemisia watched him take a gulp of the liquid fire and, although he hid it much better than she did, she still saw the indication that he was not a huge fan of the drink either. However, a moment after the sip settled in his stomach, he offered the beverage back to her, his lips curling up in a bit of a smirk, knowing she didn't want it. The blonde narrowed her eyes at the Shaman. She was tempted to stick her tongue out at him rebelliously but she managed to resist. Instead she rearranged her expression into a smile and politely declined the offer. “ Oh, no thank you, I wouldn't want to steal any of it away from you. Please, you enjoy it for both of us,” She watched him take a bite of his food, her green eyes slowly drifting down to her own partially eaten snack. She sighed quietly and lifted the stick of meat to her lips, biting off another piece. It tasted delicious, no one could deny that but somehow, as excited as she had been about it and as much as she wanted it, she was still having trouble eating it. Seemingly dropping the subject of the drink, Dorian pointed to a spot not too far which seemed to be a bit quieter, underneath a smaller cherry blossom tree. Before she could really offer her opinion on the location switch, several things happened. First, Tobin decided to wander off, presumably off to meet the tree spirit. Second, they were joined by two individuals. These two people were perhaps the last two people in both this world and the other that the petite woman wanted to see at this moment. Certainly she would rather face Brachyura again, hands tied behind her back, without even the help of the lovely blue haired Assassin than see this man approaching her now. Although it took a moment for the dots to connect, as the first to arrive was not immediately a threat to her mental and emotional health. Sayha, another member of the guild Apocrypha, approached and greeted her and Dorian cheerfully. Artemisia managed a small smile for the girl, greeting her as well. “ Hello Sayha, long time no see, huh?” She spoke as she turned around to face the voice. It was then that she saw the purple haired girl was not alone. Artemisia took a half step back without meaning to, her entire body tensing up when she saw him – her guild leader and recent source of romantic rejection, Hiro. She had been doing her best to avoid him and, in their few forced interactions, pretend that nothing was wrong. She had been focused on forgetting her feelings for him, on moving on and getting back to normal. It was not exactly going all that well, as she had simply been spending most of her time shut away in the dark but the grieving process was long and she was somewhere still in the denial stage, although depression seemed to be making it's appearance every so often. The Sorceress was neither a genius nor was she an idiot but it didn't take much for her to gather the situation. Hiro had, so very nonchalantly, crushed her heart when he had informed her of his non-single status. He hadn't, at the time, bothered to mention who the lucky lady was but she knew he was anything but disloyal to his lovers. Knowing that, it wasn't difficult for her deduce the identify of the mystery woman... it was Sayha, the Assassin she had met in the guild house some time ago. The very same person now suddenly presenting herself to Artemisia, so kind and friendly. The world in front of her seemed to glaze over, she couldn't handle this, not yet. Her vision blurred and time slowed. How should she react, what should she say? What was the fastest way to get out of this situation? Was she smiling still? She didn't want him to know, she didn't want to hurt him when he was clearly so happy with her. All of these thoughts swirled around her mind, she wasn't even sure if the other three around her were talking anymore, all she could hear was a dull hum in her ears. Artemisia closed her eyes and then reopened them slowly, taking a deep breath. Her right hand felt heavy, as if she were holding something she hadn't been a moment ago. Curious and confused, she looked down to see she had somehow obtained a rather large sandwich, or hoagie, complete with various lunch meats and vegetables. As if she wasn't the one controlling her actions, almost like she was watching the scene from beside herself, she saw her own arm raise up and launch the sub at Sayha's face. The sandwich slapped against the Assassin's cheeks and nose, jiggling and breaking apart from the impact. Artemisia stared in horror as it slowly slid down her face, bits of mustard and ham sticking to her face. A single chunk of juicy tomato had managed to land atop her head, half slid down and leaving a slimy trail as gravity worked on it. Before anyone could fully react to it, Artemisia blinked and the scene returned to normal. It seemed as if no time had passed at all and she was just finishing up her greeting to Sayha. “ -- time no see, huh?” The words were coming from her own mouth. So that didn't happen? Was that her subconscious acting up? I guess pelting her with a ham sandwich does seem kind of appealing... Artemisia thought to herself, being truthful in her own mind at least. But, the reality was she couldn't do that, Hiro would hate her. And, of course, then she'd have to explain her actions. What could she say, anyways? She was jealous, she was heartbroken, she hated that things ended up this way, if only he would reconsider, if only she had told him the truth sooner. Would things have been different? Well, there was Bargaining. She couldn't find her voice anyways, now that she had seen him. Surely, she was staring. She could barely even breathe but she had to say something and quickly, something before the pause was too long and he noticed her distress. She felt weak, and without even realizing she was doing it, she found herself reaching out to grab hold of the one thing which had been there for her so far – Dorian. Her hand, which was probably a bit sweaty from her racing heart, sought his and, once she found it, gripped it tightly. “ Oh, H-Hiro,” She forced the words out after swallowing several times, “ It's, um, so nice to see you, is this your g-girlfriend you were telling me about?” She spoke the words with a fake pleasantry, her heart nearly ripping in half. You can do it, Artemisia! --- Notes: Hiro demanded that Artemisia throw a sandwich XD Words: 1235 Tags: @serenityspace , Hirosame , @shadowsaiph

As if the universe itself despised the idea of two people separating from the festivities uninterrupted, Dorian and Artemisia were flagged down almost moments after he had suggested the location to the fox tail; she hadn't even time to offer agreement or disapproval of the idea, as two familiar faces appeared to fill the gap that Tobin had left with his departure to the Great Sakura. Blinking in surprise, the Shaman turned his attention to smile at Hiro and Sayha, the latter of which happily greeting them first. "It is, as always, grand to see you again, Sayha," he replied, turning as well to Hiro and bowing his head an inch forward in a respectful gesture. "And you as well, sir Hiro."
Dorian still had the drink firmly held in his hand, to which he lifted up upon his lips and downed the last of it. His other hand idly dangled at the end of his arm by his side, still holding onto the finished skewer that had been picked clean just moments earlier. Not wishing to have both his hands full, he quickly put the empty skewer into the tankard and stashed both into his inventory, his hands now clean and ready for anything, which of course would be helpful in a few short moments. For now, however, his instinct of course was to clasp them together behind his back, pushing his body into a more graceful, gentleman-like posture.
Now that distractions were gone from his hands, and the group of Adventurers around him was much more obvious in his mind, he began to realise the... awkwardness of the situation. Turning his head slightly, he looked down to see the Sorceress had quite clearly made an unconscious half-step back from the group. Having spent the past few moments with Artemisia, Dorian was quick to notice her attempt at hiding her discomfort, though given the circumstances, it was justified; having experienced both sides of this rather awkward and uncomfortable love triangle, the Shaman could probably tell what was going through the Sorceress' mind right now, but he let her do her best to hide it.
Lifting his gaze back up to Sayha and Hiro, he gave a smile as he made to say something, perhaps try and make idle conversation to perhaps fix the discomfort that was drawing from them. But then, of course, Artemisia had to go and surprise him; in the short moment of silence that followed their initial greetings, the Shaman felt something brush into his hand. A foreign sensation, he glanced down to his side as he felt the fox tail encapsulate his palm with her hand, taking it from behind his back and holding it, for whatever reason. The words he was about to spew from his maw were caught in his throat, simply from being caught off guard by the gesture. As to how he would react, he had no clue but to let instinct take the lead.
With a soft, concerned expression gracing his visage, he glanced down towards Artemisia and gave her a smile, reciprocating her gesture and intertwining their fingers together between them, locking their hands together. With a gentle, reassuring squeeze, pressing their palms together, he made a subtle nod with his head, making sure only she would notice it; even after finding her own words and forcing them out, she still seemed disturbed by the situation, so Dorian did his best to give her the assurance she needed that it was okay, without it being obvious to the others that something was in fact wrong. Lifting his head, he opened his eyes a little wider, feigning ignorance towards the existence of the relationship that had just been revealed.
"Truly? I remember you telling me you and Hiro were friends, Sayha; it's nice to see you've found someone." For the most part, Dorian was of course genuinely happy for the two of them; from what little time he had spent with Hiro, he seemed to be a relatively nice person, and Sayha certainly deserved a kind fellow like him. Curling his palette up at the corners to form a sheepish grin, he glanced his eyes over to Hiro, giving him a solid nod of his head before subtly changing the subject. "I trust you two have been enjoying the festivities? If you're looking for food, you must go and try out the food stall back that way," he conversed, lifting his free hand to direct the two of them back in the direction they had come, towards the stall that he and Artemisia had just left. "The skewers they sell their a delicious!"
As they gave their replies and continued the idle conversation, a realisation came to the Shaman's mind, though a dangerous one at that. Artemisia was indeed in an uncomfortable situation, and normally he would be the first to come to her aid and try anything to get her away from what could lead to pain and suffering; but, as life and many other factors had taught him, there comes a time when we must face the music, and in this particular case, it would be best to treat it as a band-aid, and rip it off as quickly as possible. The Sorceress would need to tackle her discomfort sooner rather than later, and now was as good a time as any, with the joy of the festivities at her disposal once the sadness was done. But, in order to let her do so, Dorian would have to go against his own ideals, even for just a moment.
"Ah, I just remembered," the Shaman suddenly burst out, glancing between his three compatriots. "I have something I need to go do quickly, so I'll leave the three of you to enjoy each other's company." Turning his head to look down at Artemisia, he made his last comment, mostly directed towards her, of course. "I'll be back very soon, so no need to worry." With their hands still intertwined with one another, he gave her palm another caring squeeze, his eyes matching her own with a reassuring look that subtly said to her, 'You need to do this alone.' He hoped she understood his reasoning, but he would understand completely if she hated him forever for what he was subjecting her to at this very moment.
But of course, he couldn't just leave it at that; like the gentleman he was, still holding her hand, he drew it upwards, turning his own around it to hold it up so that the back of her appendage was on display. Bowing forward, he pressed his lips into a kiss upon the back - a simple, kind gesture - before standing up straight and releasing her hand from his grasp, letting it fall back down to her side. With one last formal bow to the group, the Shaman gracefully turned on his heels and began to walk away, joining the dense crowds of people that flowed through the festival. Slowly but surely, he made his way towards the small trinket shop he had spotted earlier, a much more pleasant idea taking up passenger aboard his train of thought.

Jane paused by the tree to leave something at least, she wasn't entirely sure what everyone was doing this, but it was something of a tradition so she didn't see any harm in joining in. She left her old shield resting up against what was either a start of a root or the actual trunk, and waited for a moment to see what happened. Once done there, she'd skip the stop to send her hopes and fears away, she was currently doing both of those things now. For so long she'd accidentally continued Cederic's old habit of hanging around in the same place and passively avoiding people. He had endlessly gone out of his way to do so, and that he regretted after all this time.
So, his hope for this night was to go out and meet people, say hi, make a new friend or two. He'd added enough people to his friends list that he thought he'd have done something to go hang out with them, but every time his finger would hover over that one button call, he'd chicken out and think they'd be too busy to do anything. That would stop today!
At least, that's what he'd told himself. Jane was now at the festival, awkwardly avoiding people without even realising it as she stomped around the place, moving at an uncomfortably quick speed in an effort to buy some food, and get to a quiet place and eat. She'd hang on the edges of conversations, not quite involving herself in anything more than a nod of agreement or shake of the head to express her opinions on whatever people asked of her. It was the exact opposite of what she wanted to be doing in here but old habits tended to die hard. The only thing that would drag her out of this would be running into someone she knew, or the night somehow ending before all that.

Kaos caught of with Lamenta, discussing their adventures, recent acts, and his own research. Really, he was trying to gauge intrest in a new idea he had. It seemed kind of out there and he wasn't sure if the idea went over Lamenta's head or it genuinely wasn't a good idea. Suddenly a giggling caught his attention and he turned to see a small girl with a wide grin. He kneeled down to her level and smiled back at her. The girl couldn't have been over 10 but defiantly no younger than seven or eight, her silver hair seemed to glow in the light of the lanterns and her dark kimono seemed to mirror the darkening sky above. Her red eyes seemed to piece into the two companions very souls as she motioned for them to join her on the dance floor.
He stood up and turned to ask Lamenta if he cared to join the girl but before he could say anything the young bard was off. He chuckled inwardly as he watched the two. Lamenta pulling out his flute and playing along with the music as he danced about with the girl. Kaos felt a little warmth creep into his heart as he fondly remembered dancing with the flower girl at his wedding, she was about the same age as the girl that appeared before him. He looked about for any parent who seemed to be concerned or looking for a child, while he saw none he was sure there would be one about soon. The bard's voice cut through the music, beckoning Kaos to come join the dancing duo. Kaos smiled softly and walked towards the two and bowed to the young girl then held out his hand. "May I have this dance young lady?" With a smile she took his hand and the two began to twirl softly in the crowd around Lamenta, keeping in time with the music.

Darko was trudging within the Moon Dance Forest one night, to research more on the comings and goings of the creatures of Japanese mythology. It was only the third time that he had been here, but the plenitude of the monsters' abilities here, normal or arcane, was what had always driven him to return here as often as possible. The study of those creatures delighted him the most, since the more information he can extract from these creatures full of wealth of the anima, the greater his chances in discovering a way back to his world. There are still many oddities within this world, and Darko was bent to discover them all just to go back to his family.
As he searched for a creature or an artifact within the forest, he saw a glaring light coming from the village. He wondered why there was such a light, for it was evening, and the lander villagers might have retired for the night. Thinking there might be a festival of sorts in the village, Darko decided to retire first to the village. There might be an event ongoing within the festival, and if it could help in his searching for the way home, why not attend the festival. Although he shunned going to events that host a lot of people, he might forego his feelings for a while. The information he would gain from here was all that mattered to him right now.
When he arrived at the village, the first thing he noticed was the plenitude of people who wanted to attend the... wait what is the name of the festival? Darko then studied the people within the festival. Some of them were wearing their customary suits, as Darko also was, and some of them were wearing traditional Japanese outfits. He then thought about who is the adventurer and who is the lander in this area. He then thought that by custom, the Japanese are always wearing their traditional outfits when in a festival, and the people from other countries attending the festival either joins them in those outfits or wearing their own customary clothes. So therefore, by asking the person who were in the traditional outfits, it is a 75% chance that the person is a Lander, and the 25% are adventurers enjoying the mood of the festival. Both would not hurt, as Adventurers had a greater tendency to be unruly. And so he therefore asked one woman wearing a blue kimono what was the ongoing celebration. After that, knowing that the celebration was the Moonrise Festival for the upcoming new Year of the Ox, he stopped to think. A lot of time had passed since he came here in this world, and a lot might have happened to the world where he came from while he was stuck here. He just bitterly smiled as he thought about what fictitious aliens might have felt in a foreign world was happening to him, and so his yearning to go back to his home world became greater.
As he walked around the village studying every scenery, he saw a number of people lining up at the front of a sakura tree. He wondered what was the significance of that line, and so he joined the queue. It seemed, as he progressed closer to the tree, that the people lining up were offering something to the tree, after which the item that was offered disappeared from view, and the one who offered left the area seemingly amused or bothered. He then overheard the people saying that the items went to someone who was in best need of them. So a donation drive of sorts. Darko always liked helping out others in trouble, but preferred that his help was always in secret to anyone who deserved it. So that idea amused him. Problem was, in his inventory, there was nothing else to be offered, save a set of clothing that he had been used for months. Thinking that these pieces of clothes should come to the people in dire need of them, he offered them to the tree, saying, in almost a whisper, "It is not much, but I hope these should help." Tobin “ May your offer comfort those, but not lead them astray, in their moment of need,” The soft words fill the air around you. Before you, you see an unquestionably beautiful woman. She has long, flowing locks of light pink hair and deep, thoughtful amber eyes. Her entire presence radiates warmth and welcoming, from her posture to the gentle smile gracing her features. “ Standing before me, I see a man, short in stature but not in personality,” Her warm eyes look you over, taking in your appearance. “ It seems to me you are a bit lost, unable to quite find your place now that those you once cared so deeply for have moved on. But, there may yet be a place for you, dear Monk, should you be able to open your heart to change and allow the past to give way to your future,” She smiles at you reassuringly, letting a calm fall upon you both for a moment. “ It is my wish to leave you with this thoughtful tale, the Story of the Snake. It is a tale of the sinister snake who hides under a bed of flowers. A story in the Lunar Records mentions a snake who attacked a maiden, when a brave warrior came to her aid. Knowing that it was only a misunderstanding, the warrior spared the reptile and returned it to its home.” She smiles at you, “ Was he kind or foolish, do you think?” She leaves the question unanswered as she disappears. It appears that no one else saw or heard what the young woman said to you. --- Lamenta & Kaos The small girl is overjoyed that you accepted her offer. She dances with you, smiling and giggling the entire time. As the song wraps up, she bows politely to you both as thanks. With a wide grin she pulls out two red envelopes and hands one to each of you. She giggles again and skips off after you've taken them. As she disappears into the crowd and her giggles fade, for just a moment you may have seen rabbit ears bouncing atop her snow-white head. A rabbit spirit? Both of you please roll a 10-sided die in your next post. This will let you know what is inside the envelopes. --- Jane “ An offering to allow one to defend those they hold dear, I will accept it,” A voice, almost melodic in tone, reaches you. Her entire presence radiates warmth and welcoming, from her posture to the gentle smile gracing her features. “ A miniature Guardian has appeared before me but it would appear not all is as it seems,” She tips her head to the side thoughtfully, her eyes examining you. “ Something hides behind the surface of your appearance, does it not? A secret yet to be revealed, one which you disguise but may eventually come to accept. It would seem you have mostly kept to yourself in recent days, rarely venturing out of your comfort zone. But, I do not believe this is your true desire. You must find the motivation and desire to connect with others and expand your world, as I believe it will be beneficial to you.” She is quite straight forward with you but kind. “ I wish to share with you the Story of the Goat. The Lunar Records tell of the farmer and his goat who journeyed the land, bringing good cheer. On the final day of his journey, he went to the farmer's village and had a feast with two of the guests he had met through his travels.” She nods and smiles at you. “ A good story always ends in the breaking of bread, wouldn't you agree?” She leaves the question unanswered and fades away. Her entire presence radiates warmth and welcoming, from her posture to the gentle smile gracing her features. “ Welcome, young spell weaver.” She greets you pleasantly, her eyes wise and gentle as she looks you over. “You long for the days of the past, Sorcerer, and continue to seek out a method to restore those times. It is an admirable goal but it is always important to remember that life passes us by so quickly, often while we are distracted by the unknowns of tomorrow. Always seek out the future you desire but do not neglect today for we cannot return to yesterday.” She allows you a moment to consider her words before speaking again. “ Please take with you the Story of the Tiger and think upon it in the coming days. To honor the Tiger, you must be the Tiger. The Lunar Records tell of a young warrior who learned to harness the powers of the fierce beast. His disciples continue on to this day, and I would witness his teachings.” She smiles at you, “ I think I would much prefer to harness the power of a gentler animal, what about you?” She does not linger for your response, her form vanishing from before you. [attr="class","capsol"] As the motion to go find food had been passed, and Sayha had been given full control to take over as the feet, Hiro followed along wherever Sayha had decided to go from there. Heading back up the path that they had come from, to the festival itself, Hiro got a good enough look around the place as he moved beyond. He didn't recall all the decorations that had gone up the year before, and it just felt like the whole village was so much more lively. It was certainly a nice thing to see, especially given how the last celebration just the year before had been solely citizens of the village, and then Hiro. It brought a bit of a smile to his face, seeing that the whole forest seemed to have brightened for the evening, and for however long the festivities would continue to go on for. Hiro had to wonder, though, if he would be dragged in to work by the Elder at some point, whether or not he would want to. Given that Kali was still fairly new, she might not be able to handle all the festivities herself, and may require a hand. Far be it from the Tree Spirit herself to lend a hand. He chuckled a little at the thought, though, and continued to move onward.
His hand still gripped that of Sayha's, making sure that they wouldn't be separate for the time being. While his eyes had been fixed upon the decor and surrounding area, it never occurred to him until now that food was so very close by. The sudden whiffs of delicious morsels just a few feet from him caused him to wake up, so to speak, and look around. All sorts of delicious looking food seemed to have appear from nowhere. The Monk's eyes lit up suddenly, as his stomach began to protest violently that he reach out and grab some of the food before him. Making sure to keep his hand around Sayha's, he reached out and grabbed the first item on the plate, which happened to be a dumpling. Of course, it was a very hot object for one to hold within their own hand, but his stomach didn't necessarily care. To keep himself from being scorched, he kept bouncing the dumpling up and into the air, catching it, taking a bite, and bouncing it again until he was done chewing on the delicious sustenance. Having just about finished the food off, he tossed it up and into the air once more, grabbed it, and chomped the rest of it into his mouth, before grabbing a stick of teriyaki-soaked beef.
It was a good thing that Hiro had done so now, as Sayha's attention began to drift somewhere else. Not too much longer afterwards, Hiro felt a tug on his arm, causing him to follow after the girl. While she may or may not have let go of his hand, he hadn't let go of her's. The girl's attention drew Hiro's over to the other possible couple just a little ways from them. Dorian and Artemisia, whom, from what Hiro knew, were probably just here at the same time as a happenstance, and decided to hang out. As it just so happened, though, the four of them were in close proximity, and Sayha figured that it might be a good opportunity to intermingle with a guild mate and one of her friends. While Hiro hadn't known too much of the Dorian character, outside of his class, he was perhaps far more acquainted with Artemisia than most other people, if not everybody else he knew in this world. Except maybe for Oxford. But, that was a dealing for another time. Bros don't just stop talking to bros, after all, no matter the circumstance. To compare any other friendship to that of one's closest bro was simply unfair. But, Hiro's inner monologue as to the importance of bro-hood was cut off by the Sorceress speaking.
Addressing Sayha, Artemisia gave a hello to the girl, after which she proceeded to stutter in her attempt to open conversation with Hiro from there. Perhaps the cold was getting to the fox-tail, despite the winter-ready clothing she wore. Looking up into the sky, Hiro took in a little breath. Yeah, it was fairly cold, no matter how one looked at it. His attention returned to the Sorceress, who had started to hold onto Dorian's hand for a moment. Perhaps there was something going on in the background that Hiro didn't know about? Either way, good for Artemisia! Hiro nodded to the fox-tail slightly, as a smile started to spread across his face. "Yeah, this would be her." Reaching out and wrapping an arm around Sayha's shoulders, Hiro smiled further, as Dorian began to ask his own. "The festival's been pretty nice, I'd say. How about you?" Hiro's head turned toward Sayha, asking her. "Been having fun?" Whether or not Sayha responded, it seemed, Dorian had another matter that he had yet to take care of. Giving a little bit of an exit speech, Dorian announced that he would be leaving for a little bit. Something he had to do? Maybe he hadn't gotten his fortune yet. Or, maybe he was going to surprise Artemisia with a little gift or something.
Whatever the reason, the Shaman decided to stun the area, or something like that, with a kiss upon the Sorceress' hand, before turning to leave. Huh, so maybe the Shaman had more of a pair than Hiro had given him credit for, back in the frozen tunnel system. With the finale having taken its place, and the curtain call of the Shaman disappearing, the three had been left on their own for the time being. Immediately, Hiro withdrew the arm that was around Sayha, and took a little bit of a step away. He was painfully aware of how quickly one could begin to feel like a third wheel, and make the whole situation awkward for that person who, among 3 people total, was there on their own. Though Hiro half expected Artemisia to run after the Shaman regardless, he figured he might as well make himself accommodating. "So, Artemisia. You enjoying the festival? First time it's been opened to people outside of the village, so it's something of a unique feeling to the villagers, too." Hiro felt that, maybe trying to spark some kind of normal conversation without alluding to the fact that he and Sayha were there as a couple, albeit through happenstance and chance-meeting in this instance, would help the fox-tail feel a bit more at ease, and maybe enjoy her time a little bit more as a result. At least, until her knight in healing armor returned.

The dwarf that Sayha had seen before disappeared without much word… though maybe he had been leaving before Sayha and Hiro had arrived. That probably made the most sense, but she didn’t know the dwarf so it really didn’t matter much to her.
Artemisia greeted her and Hiro first… though she very clearly tensed up after a moment. Dorian greeted both Sayha and Hiro. The world was rather small, Sayha thought in the back of her head. However, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Artemisia didn’t say anything more at first and neither than Dorian. Instead, though, Artemisia gripped Dorian’s arm. Were they going out now? She could see it, maybe… though Sayha didn’t know Artemisia very well at all. However if Dorian seemed to like her, she couldn’t be that bad. She turned to Hiro and began to speak very hesitantly. She asked if Sayha was Hiro’s girlfriend that he had talked about. Hiro smiled, putting one of his arms around Sayha, saying that she was indeed his girlfriend. Sayha smiled at the gesture, but opted not to say anything. Dorian didn’t seem horribly surprised by Artemisia’s comment, but he did seem happy for Sayha. He also asked if they were enjoying the festivals.
Hiro said that he was having fun and turned to Sayha, awaiting her response. Sayha nodded, “Yeah, things seem to be pretty entertaining. Too many people for my taste, but it’s not too bad yet.”
However after Sayha responded, Dorian seemed to pause for a moment. He glanced at all three of them, saying that he remembered that he must do something but would return quickly. Sayha couldn’t think of anything he would have forgotten to do, but that wasn’t any of her business. If he had something to take care of, he would simply do so.
Hiro turned his attention to Artemisia, asking her if she had been enjoying the festival. He explained that it’s the first time that the festival opened up to people outside of the village. Sayha was slightly surprised about that as the people in the village were rather open to outsiders. Even when Sayha had visited the first time, they seemed rather open. They also didn’t protest the idea of her building a home out in the Forest area. Though now she knew the village quite well as well as some of the inhabitants.
Sayha took a moment to look around. There was starting to be more and more people in the nearby are where they were standing, and her mind began to pound. She turned to Hiro, “I think I’m going to locate a less crowded area. There are starting to be too many people for me.” Sayha turned then to Artemisia, “It was nice seeing you again.”
She wasn’t sure if Hiro was going to follow her or not, but Sayha didn’t mind either way. She knew Hiro and Artemisia were friends, and they could probably chat for a little while. Sayha, however, needed to find a place where she wouldn’t suffocate. She made her way through the crowds and eventually found an opening towards the forest that overlooked the dance floor.
Sayha wasn’t much of a dancer, but she thought it was entertaining to watch other people dance. The dance floor wasn’t horribly crowded yet, but it was crowded enough for Sayha to want to avoid it. She took a few deep breaths and pulled her mind back to herself. Watching crowds didn’t bother her, but being in them did. It was something she didn’t quite understand very well as she wasn’t sure where it came from. For the time being, though, she took the time to reenergize herself.

Jane's drifting eventually brought her to her standard area in a large party like this, hidden in the shadows on the other side of the dance floor. Or area in this case. It wasn't at all like the large dances Cedric had occasionally gone to back in school, but it was still large enough to be daunting. It didn't help that neither Cedric or Jane had any skill at dancing, so going down there was out of the question. If Cedric were being honest with himself, going down there was out of the question the moment more than three people he didn't know gathered, and a lot of people had been down there since the very start.
Most people were moving around in groups that large as well, which made Jane breaking out of her shell very tricky, if not downright impossible. Why she couldn't get out of this stupid mindset was beyond her understanding. It was almost like she had lost all of her ability to approach people she thought needed a friend, too. Maybe it was just massively self inflicted? That could be it entirely, why was she standing here, mulling over all these distracting thoughts when she could talk to the next person to cross her path. It would be so much healthier to do that, yet here she was just doing it more and more.
It would only take a bit more internal (and somewhat pathetic) monologuing before the chibi guardian had herself convinced that she would talk to the next person to appear, and then moments later, someone to actually end up there too. Then there was the slow, tortuous decision on how to approach them.
"Have you ever tried dancing like that?" She eventually asked, speaking up after a moment of quiet walking to approach the other girl. "I used to wonder what it was like back in the real word whenever something like this came up but I never felt like I'd be able to keep on my feet..."
Ice successfully broken and Jane was starting to feel a little braver about all this, it really was too hard for the small chibi to talk to people after how she was as Cedric, but maybe that was all part of adjusting to how she was now. The only thing that would make this fail would be a rejection to even a conversation, but it would come down to starting one first.
