| but somewhere here in between these city walls | It was early morning for the youthful samurai. He had been feeling great the last few days, rising with the sun to perform some basic exercises before he started his day. Today, he had a plan. He had been testing his newest skill, but now he needed some applicable combat testing, which meant Young Pittered Boars. He gave a long stretch before he put on his nice clothes. He liked how the cosmetic factor of them overwrote the look and sound of his plate armor, though sadly it did nothing for the weight. He shrugged, the latter part just helped to remind him that he was in fact well armored against attacks.
Down the stairs of the tavern and out into the street, then out into the fields just beyond Londinium. He looked around getting his bearings from the main gate he used to leave town normally. After a short time he turned and headed down along the road, knowing a good place to farm a few small boars. As he made his way along, the wind picked up, throwing some loose dirt and dust high into the air with a swirl. Dagger smiled as he watched, still marveling over the realism of their new world.
The clouds rolled in slowly as Dagger arrived at the location he had chosen to train himself. It was a popular spot, a few others were there training as well, each a fair enough distance from one another not to get in each other's way. He looked around, making sure he didn't see anyone who seemed to be in need of some assistance before he took a seat in the middle of a section of boars, pulling out a container of tea he had bought from the tavern before he left. With a smile and a laugh, he called out a little jingle before taking a swig from the container.

Not too far off the occasional sound of Miracle Mines could be heard as Prinni had begun working on a few ideas and had begun attempting to collect boar meat to eventually give to a cook with a special order. She was well aware in her past life that animal fat had some valuable properties; combustion, cleansing, and greasing were all on the top of the list, and to a degree all were on her list of things that might be useful to have on what would eventually become her first courier mission out of town. Besides, all the food could come in handy if she needed to camp for the night.
So earlier that morning she had begun laying out a minefield and had recently begun pissing off boars by bopping them with her mace and fleeing to the safety of her explosives. It wasn't the wisest of plans but she knew her spells were better than outright pummeling them and if she was hit, her reactive heal had been keeping her somewhat ok. She was fairly low on mana from the mine laying however so healing came when available, and her health was showing it. She also recently found out another problem, her mines only lasted so long and the boars seemed to take a different amount of mines each time. By the time everyone had shown, Prinni had only a few left. as she made another sprint for a boar.
Quickly she ran up on one and cracked it over the head and began her sprint with the boar hot on her heels. She darted over the first mine, the boar running headlong into the ensuing explosion, but it was still chasing. Prinni quickly looked to the next one and sprinted for it hoping it would be enough to fell the beast. she quickly slowed though in a vain attempt to back up as she saw what looked to be a premature detonation. The boar didn't slow however as Prinni was knocked into the air and soon found herself screaming on a runaway boar, her only instincts were to grip the fur and hold tight while screaming all manners of panicked words as the boar began to buck, kick and roll to get the weight off.
There was a slight pause in the scuffle however as the boar oriented itself again spotting a tree to ram the small girl into now that the little rodeo had made her into a hat for the boar slight problem was that it happened to be through another adventurer who was enjoying a drink from a container. the boar stamped it's feet then huffed, giving Prinni just enough time to look back at what was about to happen, seeing the man in the way first and not the tree. The moment the boar had made up it's mind to charge she freaked out again. "LOOK OUT!!" She yelled at the young man as the boar charged in his direction, carrying the poor girl as a battering ram in case he didn't get out of the way.

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | He had heard the sound of magical explosions in the distance, though he wasn't too sure which class might have been their cause. It was an interesting thought as he was somewhat interested in how the 'magic' of this world worked exactly. Was it belief, science in stranger form or perhaps just the force of will? Well, more or less he knew at its very core it was probably simple code, if this world was still in fact a game.
Dagger gave a sigh as he drank the last of his tea, before hearing a frantic voice calling out from behind him. He turned to see a wild boar, ridden by a small female. Rolling to his feet as he opened his menu, he quickly spun on his heel and braced himself against the boar's impact. His intent was to play wall for the boar's charge, while at the same time catching the damsel in distress. He had just enough time to switch through his inventory and equip the pistol he had made before the boar slammed into his body, the sudden stop causing the boar to buck and possibly even launch the female into the air.
If she was launched, Dagger would do everything he could to catch her, before planting a bullet into the boar to finish it off. If he managed to catch her he would set her down before he spoke up, and if he was unsuccessful he would rush over to her to help her up before then.
"Say, ya alright ma'am?"
His country accent was pretty heavy, and once he had made sure she wasn't really harmed, like broken bones or anything, his smile would spread across his face as he introduced himself.
"Name's Dagger, ya looked like ya were in a right pickle there. Need a little help?" | of dying dreams |

It was a bit of a question as to who was squealing louder the moment they hit the unintended wall, the pig who was stopped dead in it's tracks with now two patches where fur used to be, or the girl who was flung back first into the man as she felt the hair pull loose as she was launched. In either case the girl landed square in his chest and as she was caught, quickly let go of the fur and quickly reached for something to grab onto, twisting her body to wrap her arms around something on the human wall. Buried her face in what she like even more fur as her arms cling around the boy's neck. Prinni let out another yelp as she heard the gunshot, but continued to bury her face in the fur, her body now fully turned around as she began to dangle.
The man then spoke to her and she slowly began to look up to the man's face, then slowly down to where her arms were, her feet swinging a little as they continued to look for solid ground. It now clicked in Prinni's head as her eyes shot back up to his before letting out another yelp and let go, embarrassed that she was hugging him so long. "I-I-I'm alright thank you...." She quickly turned around to hide her face "i didn't... I mean I ..... i'm sorry..." Her head now dropped as she said the last words as she couldn't find the right words to say. It was safe to say she was in a little shock from the event as it took her a moment to look at the state of the boar, now laid over in the grass like the numbers she had left in the minefield. She paused and then glanced back as Dagger introduced himself. Slowly she looked back at the boar then back to him letting out a slight sigh as she began to regain her composure. "Honestly, I think it may be a while before I can set up another minefield.... I can barely heal myself much less be useful to you." She offered a handshake to him. "Name's Prinni..... and thank you."

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | Dagger gave a light smile as the girl got full on flustered. He gave a light pat on her shoulder as she got absolutely tongue tied.
"Ain't a thin' to worry with ma'am. Rather happy ta see ya safe and sound rather than ridin' a wild boar ta heck knows where. Say, what was that all about anywho?"
He couldn't deny he was curious about the events that lead up to the boar riding scene he had laid witness to, but if she didn't want to tell he wouldn't force her hand. When he introduced himself and offered his help, she gave him a half-hearted excuse for why he shouldn't to which Dagger merely shook his head with a smile. He shook her hand as she introduced herself and then began to speak once more.
"Well, ya see Miss Prinni, I'm jus' out here ta test a little ole' skill, and I'd rather adore some good ole' company if'n ya'd be willin' ta stick around. I don't ask nothin' more, 'sides you look like ya could use the experience. Whatcha say?"
As he asked, he'd send her a party invite, that same warm smile spread across his face as his disheveled hair blew lightly in the breeze.
"Heck, afterwards ya can join me f'er a picnic if'n ya like. Got a few ham sammiches, sweet tea an some good ole' fashion potato salad. Couldn't believe mah eyes I tell ya. When I saw that on the sign a the Tavern I live in, whooo boy I was happier than a fiddler on a rooftop."
He gave a light hearted chuckle as he smiled at Prinni. If she didn't accept the offer, he would try for a little bit to try and convince her to reconsider. He knew full well that training alone was never much fun, and having some company would make all the difference for both parties involved. If she did accept his offer though, he'd reload his pistol before switching it back out for his zweihander, manipulating the menu with the practice he had used many times before. With it equipped and in his hands he would lift it onto his shoulder, before turning to the nearest patch of Young Boars and heading for them. He would give a small sigh, a word coming out along with it as his sword began to glow a cyan color.
"Youkaigiri..."
With a fluid motion he would bring the massive sword to his side before taking a step forward as he spun, swinging the blade up into the air, releasing a glowing phantom slash into the sky. He didn't honestly want to use that skill to damage his targets, he had a very particular skill in mid for that chore. Stepping into the middle of a group of five boars, he continued the momentum of the blade as he uttered the next link in his Chain of Skills.
"Muwarufuusen."
The sword came spinning around his body, guided by his hands and arms as he spun the blade around and around like some sort of devilish fan. The air around him began to hum and whistle as the grass beneath him swayed violently. The boars around him were being pulled in as they all quickly began to aggro to the Samurai. He took a step back slowly, making sure that all of them would be in front of him when he used the final Link of his Chain.
The blade stopped dead still as the five boars began headbutting Dagger in the legs. The damage was negligible, not even enough to really bother him or his HP bar. No what came next was all he was focused on as his mana violently swirled around the blade he held skyward. The swirls started off as small wisps extending from his hand, creeping steadily up the sword as he charged the skill until finally the aura was a violent maelstrom of golden energy.
"Seinaru... Shinken."
With no further warning, and after making sure Prinni was not in the line of fire, he released the skill, slamming his blade into the ground and directly into the bodies of the five boars. The golden energy cut a path along the ground, gouging the land and dispersing both soil and boar caught in its wake. The slash extended a full three meters, killing more than just the five boars he had brought in for the test. Dagger was more than pleased, as he beamed happily at his comrade.
"Well tie me up, lather me in honey and leave me f'er the bears! Oh, sorry Ma'am, got right riled up an mah southern came out a bit worse. But that darn skill's one heck of a thin' ain't it?" | of dying dreams |

Prinni couldn't help but still be slightly red when Dagger mentioned he was glad she was safe and sound. it was her job to keep others that way, and so far had only put other's lives in danger. Her entire plan was centered around trying not to put others at risk and here she was being used as a projectile for a boar. As Dagger spoke more Prinni rose a hand to her chin thoughtfully, half fixing her brain to remember how to understand the accent, and half thinking about the offer when the invite came up on her screen. "don't know how much help I can be, to ya, but I can try to keep you as topped off as I can." She said as her hair swayed with his. with a slight delay she pressed the accept button while he spoke about the tavern he lived in and she couldn't help but let out a light chuckle at his analogy.
Her eyes widened when she saw Dagger change his weapons, but it at least explained to her to a certain degree why he didn't really budge when he stopped the boar. She quickly followed however as she readied herself for another boar. She was somewhat familiar with wardens, having seen them fight each other in the streets, but had a little less in the field. She preemptively began to prepare a heal, saying the words under her breath, causing a small yellowish glow to cover her and her new ally. Prinni tilted her head as the first attack flew strait up into the air, her eyes tracing the attack in her confusion until she heard the 2nd skill and she began to freak out. one boar was enough for her to have a hard time and the warden had pissed off five at one. Immediately she began to try to cast another reactive heal, her words now loud as she half panicked for his safety. "Tejeha Paehkc Bmayca bnudald yht cyja so ymmeac!" mid cast the first boar hit, and her spell canceled the damage, but the others had quickly hit after just before her spell when off again and she began to charge herself but was definitely too late to the fight as the last of Dagger's skills erupted through the ground, causing Prinni to back of just in case, watching as a task the would normally take seven or eight mines he did with one attack.
Quickly she ran up to him, half ignoring his southernisms "are you crazy! you could have been killed aggroing all those boars like....." she paused and looked at his health bar. "did I even help?" she was half frustrated with him now, but she really had no reason to complain. the job would definitely become easier with his help now, and if she had enough time she could probably set up another minefield for....
Her eyes lit up with an idea "hey Dagger? Do you mind if we gave my mana some time to come back. i got an idea that may be able to get even more boar if this works and it will hopefully save some heath in the long run."

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | Dagger could hear Prinni utter some, rather unintelligible words as she cast a spell on him. It prevented the first boar's attack but she still seemed rather distraught as she ran up to him. Dagger gave her a soft smile as he put his hand on her shoulder before speaking.
"Oi, calm down Prinni. Ya did good f'er not knowin' jus' what I was plannin'. I'm still healthy as a horse in terms of HP thanks to ya."
He chuckled lightly, trying to diffuse the situation a bit.
"'Sides, 'tween my actual armor and my level above these here Young Boars, I'm not lookin' at takin' too much damage."
It was true, even despite being hit by all five of the boars, his health wasn't even below 98% at this point. In fact, Prinni's heal had actually healed him a bit more than what the boar who activated it had done. Though, as Prinni asked if they could wait for her mana to return, he gave a nod of agreement.
"Sure thin'. I'll set out them picnic goodies while we wait."
Without anything more to say on the matter, Dagger pulled a small basket from his inventory and set it on the ground as he sat down next to it. He opened up the left side to reveal the sandwiches in a circle on a plate. They were made with wheat bread and had some lettuce sticking out from the edge.
"Ham and Swiss sammiches with lettuce and 'mater. As well as that 'tater salad I mentioned before."
He opened the other side's lid to reveal the bowl that held that delightful mixture within. He reached into the middle and pulled out a second container, offering it to Prinni as he got his other one from when she had been flung into his arms.
"Sweet tea if'n ya like. Help y'erself ta anythin' ya like. There's a spoon 'tween the sammiches and bowl if'n ya want some 'tater salad."
He smiled at her as he grabbed a sandwich and took a bite. He laid back and watched the sky, speaking up after he had finished his first bite.
"So, f'er the sake a askin'... how ya farin' since we all got brought into this world? Like, do ya prefer it to the real world or, ya lookin' ta go home?"
Honestly, he still wasn't too sure of the answer to that question for himself yet. He hadn't given it much thought before. But it did weigh on the back of his mind from time to time. | of dying dreams |

She still wanted to clock Dagger over the head for scaring the crap out of her, but Prinni calmed down just enough from at least knowing that her healing at least saved him from some of the damage, as meager as it may have been. she was especially glad to get a break from being rushed down by pigs and having two near heart attacks in one day, though for Prinni, as much as she wanted to contribute to the picnic she only had some bread and water to add. "i'm sorry I don't have much to add to the meal, but I like the baker's bread near where I sleep so I hope you like it too."
Prinni took a swig of her water as she sat down next to Dagger taking a sandwich and lightly nibbled on one of the corners as she always did back in the real world, and as the tea and salad was offered she responded with a light "no thank you" as she preferred her tea unsweetened and never understood the appeal for potato salad. She didn't want to intrude to much in his basket either as she continued to slowly nibble down the sandwich she did take, and offered some of the bread she had on her person to tide her over while she was hunting boar. "kind of makes me whish I took up cooking so we could add the boar to our meal" she said with a light chuckle before Dagger dropped the question she had been avoiding for a while since she realized she was trapped here.
Prinni paused, then swallowed the mouthful she had. "honestly I don't know how I'm doing Dagger. yea I wanted to be free to explore the world to my hearts content, even be able to be on my own to a degree from dusk till dawn..... but not like this." she thought back to her real world life for a moment and to her friends and family. "its funny. you hear in stories that the people who dream for everything they want, lose a lot of what was important for them to get it. it seems so unlikely that when it happens to you it still hits you as hard as like it does in the stories...... friends, family, home, work....the games you used to play and the meals you used to eat...gone." she let out a slight huff of a laugh "we even have what some people ask for in immortality, everything a hero or villain could ever want at the cost of who we were.... I agreed to meet with a friend in this game before I joined and was sucked in, if we had enough time we probably could have made due even more easily, and I would have told you I was doing fine. We never got to meet up though. I don't know who or where she is, lord help me even more as she likes to play as male characters all the time. could have already met her and not even know it...."

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | Dagger tucked the bottle of tea back into the basket and pulled out the spoon, digging out a bite of the potato salad with an expression of pure bliss spreading over his face as he enjoyed the taste. He didn't mind that she had turned down the offer of all but the sandwiches, it was just polite that he offered. When she offered some of her bread, he accepted a small piece, popping it into his mouth as she mentioned wishing she could have cooked the boar.
"Ya know, that'da been right fillin' if either of us could. A nice piece a cooked ham... ah well, jus' gotta settle f'er a ham sammich f'er now. Maybe I can treat ya to a finer meal sometime later as thanks f'er today."
He smiled at her from where he laid, asking the question that seemed to turn her mood a little bit south. He sat up as he looked at her, watching her expression as she answered him.
"Yeah, I get what ya mean. I do miss mah family, even if we weren't the best a friends. Heck, honest I don't even know if they really miss me, 'siderin' I was purdy much an outsider. Farm boy wantin' ta be a scientist, study Astrophysics, kinda far fetched ain't it? But that was me, back then... Now I ain't gotta worry 'bout studyin' or grades or nuthin'. Dagger smiled at her, the goggles beneath his fur hat glinting in the sunlight.
"Now, as f'er y'er friend, I'll help ya find 'em. I mean, what else am I s'posed ta do, leave a purdy lady alone when she could use some help? Heck, maybe even someone in the Guild knows 'em?"

Prinni listened, reminded that it wasn't just herself who's life was completely changed. Everyone had a life, and while some had for sure gained a better life, no one's life would ever be the same, even if they found a way to return. Prinni smiled however as told her how he gets by that knowledge, and his dream she couldn't help but chuckle before taking another bite. She became a lot more amused as he offered to help find her friend. "you know if you keep being this noble you'd best be looking at yourself," She smiled, "you'll be a star among all of us soon. heaven knows your attacks shine brighter than my mines, and my power supposedly comes from the gods of this world."
Prinni's mana had nearly replenished by this point but she was more than happy to just keep company with Dagger. "i wouldn't trouble yourself finding my friend.... I've already accepted that she has probably found her own way, and the matters of a guild shouldn't concern themselves on someone who is obviously alive and well. that's peace enough for me. if our new god or gods favor it, we will meet on our own." Her eyes scanned the landscape, many of the adventurers this morning had finished their training and she began looking for a good spot for her plan to work, a small valley near three good groups of boar it was dangerous as she knew all too well a charge downhill is a lot more stronger than up or on flat ground. "I got a question for you Dagger..... well 2... How brave are you? and how would you like to be a part of the best boar trap ever?" If Dagger traced where she was looking he may get an idea as to where her plan would be set up and perhaps what she was up to.

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | Dagger rubbed the back of his sheepishly as Prinni complimented him. He wasn't much for being complimented, didn't really think he deserved them.
"Aww heck na, ya got it all wrong there. I ain't doin' nothin' any normal person wouldn't do, ya know?"
He turned his attention back to the sky, watching as a cloud that almost looked like a penguin danced across the blue expanse. He listened to Prinni explain how she felt about finding her friend, which made Dagger simply nod in understanding. He had no idea if anyone he knew from the real world was trapped in here with him, he knew that his one friend, Jenn, more than likey wasn't trapped, since he had been using her computer at the time this all happened. His gaze returned to Prinni, when she mentioned having a few questions for him. The first had him think for a moment, before the second one caused him to make up his mind with a wide grin.
"Well, purdy sure I'm brave enough ta handle a horde a boars if'n that's what ya have in mind."
He had followed her gaze and spotted the groups around a central location. Simple physics told him that the charging boars would be faster than normal, as most would either fight on flat ground or Adventurers would use their AI against them to force an uphill charge. Leading them downhill was a newer idea for him, but he supposed it could work.

Prinni smiled as Dagger opened the can of worms to her idea, causing her grin to become wide and slightly mad. "well I was thinking of laying another minefield, and placing you in the center" she said as she was already mapping where to place the mines. "ive been good at making judgment calls and if I agro enough boar close to the minefield you can do that move that attracts them all in. and since its a downhill slope even the few boar that turn around after they take enough damage would still have to slow their charge and run into more mines. the few stragglers that make it past the field would then still be in range of your shining aoe attack." she didn't realize it but her hips had been wiggling from the excitement as she turned back towards the boy that would be the centerpiece of her plan. Quickly she stood up and let out a small teehee type laugh as she grabbed his hand to help pull him up "so whadda ya say Dagger? you want to give it a shot?"
If he had chosen to stand up with her pulling she'd hold his hand all the way down to the bottom of the valley, if not she would still be slowly making her way down. it was still a very good minefield location and she wasn't going to miss the opportunity by a random adventurer taking the spot either. even slower if she had to convince the boy to try her half crazed idea

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | Even with the slightly crazed look of Prinni's grin, she still came off as more, cute than harmful. She began explaining her idea, which was to lay out a minefield. Dagger's thoughts immediately went to one of those old World War reenactment videos that had one such creation within. It would be interesting, to say the least, to see one recreated here. He guessed that must have been the explosions he had heard from earlier. as his mind came back to reality he looked over at her to find her wiggling her hips in excitement. A slight red flush began to creep over his face as he turned back to looking at their destination.
"Sounds like..."
His words stopped as she grabbed his hand and pulled him up, or more as he pulled himself up with her help considering the weight of his armor. It was, well, honestly the first time something like this had happened, considering he was pretty much an exile in his hometown for his choices. Still, she didn't let go of his hand as she pulled him all the way into the valley below. About halfway down the hill he regained his voice as he gave a nod.
"Sure, I'll give y'er idea a try. Been right long enough f'er my skills to cool down."
As they arrived in the center, Dagger took his place in the center of the area, planting his sword in the ground. For now it would give him a decent place to lean against while he watched Prinni work, if she didn't end up doing anything else to cause his face to turn into a tomato again. | of dying dreams |
