I got a gift, a bit like a sixth sense...Where people see something supernatural, like a ghost, or fragment of memories that remains in that place. I could hear them, not see them but hear it...Well it happens not often tho' like twice a week or once a week but sometimes, or in some cases it happen repeatedly in one day, I can hear someone laughing when there is no one around me at all or someone called me (or I think it is me who they called, I didn't hear it clearly) or inaudible murmur that I couldn't understand, like a faint whisper. This is driving me crazy day by day till I have term with my condition.
However, God has another plan for me *sigh*. Just when I have term with my condition, something extraordinary happen. The usual things occurs, until suddenly a figure of woman floating around me. I suddenly kicked my table due to shock, as well the spirit shaken a bit
"Human..you can see me?" The spirit talks with a soft, genuine voice with a hint of disbelief, her appearance is around that seventeen to eighteen year old girl with a bright short black hair and a mole right under her eyes.
"Apparently so, this is my first time experiencing this, what are you?"
Her face suddenly turn to smile as she tries to touch me, but it pass through. She grimaced
"What's wrong?" I usually never care in what spirits think, however I can't help it if I can see their expression. She looks down for a moment and suddenly smiles
"nothing" She said it, like it was really nothing to it
"Well, let us get back to your question...You want to know what am I right? That's the same question which I repeated again and again over in my head...When I regain consciousness all I remembered was my name, which is Mary, and floating aimlessly till' this time..I even not sure what day today is"
"Sunday" I let myself deep in thought, normally people might freak out with this occurrence, yet I feel so calm in this matter, am I crazy? I shook my head, no I am not, since the beginning I already am a bit above of normal line, hearing something that other people can't is not normal that what is decided long time ago.
"So..Mary right? My name is Xena. What is it that you are planning planning on doing now?"
"Well, maybe I will gonna stick around you for a while, it's been a while since I have had a companion right beside me"
I sighed, I already knew the answer since the beginning, however I still expected a different type of answer. "Wait...It's been a while since you have had companion? What about the other spirit?"
"What spirit?" She is genuinely confused when I ask her. That's a bit weird, then what have I been hearing this past year, is she lying? If so, I can't think a reason for her to lie about this.
Well...it doesn't matter if I think it right now "Suit yourself, but, don't bother me with my daily activities"
She nods while she drifts around me happily.
It's been two days since Mary sudden appearance, we had a talk for a quite time sorting her memories bit by bit, but no luck. We tried to go the first place from her first memories, it only just a small empty garden and it seems that no one owns it. The garden was connected to main road by a small alley.
"Does this place ring a bell to you?" I observe the place, the place is beautiful and suddenly tickles me to make it as my secret base for my own, like in my old times. My edge of mouth widen to smile remembering old times when i am still happier than now.
On the other hand, Mary only shook her head "No.. but i do remember i tried to pick one of this flower when i 'wake up' " She point a particular flower, if i wasn't mistaken that is a sunflower, i have one of those in my mom garden. Yet, it's no clue only from that. However, one thing for sure..This place is full of spirit, i keep hearing a lot of murmur from different voice.But, there is no indication of Mary disturbed by them, so i couldn't judge wether she actually hear them or she and them are in different dimension.
The last thing i remember from that day, i ruffled my hair in frustration and went home finishing my never lasting homework. And today i just finished all of my homework, and unfortunately today is the last day of my holiday, so i just spend my time strolling around my neighborhood.
"Yo Xena~~ Good morning how have you been" A petite tomboy-ish girl gives a weak punch to my back, she greet me with her usual loud voice in the morning. Her eagerness could shock everyone yet no one actually got angry from that, with her innocence smile and sort of neverlasting positive energy oozing out from her aura, no one could possibly got angry to her. As today, she caught me off guard even Mary, who decided to accompany me to school, got startled with her loud voice.
She is an acquaintance of mine...well that 'term' has a wrong feeling to it, she has been around me since like i was a child, so we are like a childhood friend. Although i did say that, we are being tied together just because of a situation that force us to meet each other quite often, so---
"Isn't that the definition of friend itself?" Suddenly Mary interrupt my train of thought and startled me.
"Ho-" i close my mouth, i almost let the cat out of the bag. If i wasn't careful everyone might think that i have loose screw in my brain. Although, i still curious how she knows what am i thinking.
"Xena.. you still there?" She waving up and down in front of my voice, i couldn't remember when i stop "you are going to say something, aren't ya'. Come on spill it" she nudge my side with her elbow playfully
i shook my head "No, it was nothing.. We should hurry up, time isn't our friends right now Rosa, we are late" i slowly change my pace from walk to run
Rosa look at her watch and follow "Wowza.. you're right, race to school" at the blink of an eye there is a quite distance between me and her, no less from the ace runner of track club, there's no way i can compete with her.

i want to ask for an opinion:
-regarding setting of time and place, would it be better if i write as the main character as a high school student, a college student, or a part of working society?
-Do you have a better name for the protagonist, the ghost and the childhood friend?
