After much discussion, we are moving forward with the adjustment to gold distribution. As everyone knows, the current system awards 50 gold per RP post, regardless of whether that post is 100 words or 1,000. This means, that inadvertently, members which preferred longer posts were being shortchanged in gold. To hopefully alleviate this issue, our current plan is to award gold based on word count. The staff feels that 500 words is roughly the average per post and we want 50g to still be the baseline amount earned per post as an average. So, we've decided to award 1 gold for every 10 words. This will be claimed in AP claims, much like commerce threads are now. Gold will be added to accounts once the total number of words have been verified during the AP claiming process.
However, we are aware that several members may already have been affected by the previous system. To help balance things out, we are going to be reviewing member accounts to adjust for gold. We will only be adding gold, we will not remove or add any gold in excess of what your level states you should have. I will use my own character, Artemisia, for this example.
Artemisia is currently levels 58, 7 and 1 (main, crafting, RP). I will mostly focus on main class for my example. Based on her main class, she should have 7,125 gold. I am figuring this out by using this thread to see how much AP was needed to reach level 58. If you are between levels you may use your official AP count listed on your profile. That would be 285 AP in Artemisia's case. It takes 250 words to get 1 AP so 285 x 250 = 71,250 words. If 1 gold is awarded per every 10 words, its 71,250/10 = 7,125. However, I have posts that are unclaimed for and I have already earned my 50 gold from the previous system. If I account for my unclaimed AP, Artemisia is a theoretical level 66. We will be using this "theoretical level" to figure out gold amounts for everyone so you must either claim all of your current posts or create an accurate WIP to get an idea of your characters true level. Using the same formula as before (now 365 AP), Artemisia is owed 9,125 gold. There is currently 2,710 on Artemisia's account, creating a difference of 6,415 gold. However, as best as possible, we must account for any gold Artemisia may have spent and is not missing. Listed on Artemisia's profile are 13 Gachapon items, each costing approx. 50 gold. This totals 650.
9,125 - 2,710 = 6,415.
6,415 - 650 = 5,765.
There are also 2 mass produced level 20 potions in there, 250 each.
5,765 - 500 = 5,265.
Artemisia does not own a house but I have had some items crafted for her. I understand this may be very difficult for some members to figure out but please do your best to get as close as possible. We will also be doing checks ourselves to verify. I have not had a lot of crafting done. This one for 990 gold and this one for 700 gold are the only two I believe I have ever done. So that's another 1,600 gold off of there.
5,265 - 1,600 = 3,665.
I have never done a subclass or main class change, so 0 gold there.
3,665 + 2,710 = 6,375.
That is, approximately, the true amount of gold Artemisia should have, based on main class alone.
I have not earned any AP in Artemisia's roleplay class, so that does not need figured out. However, she is level 7 in her crafting class, with a total of 12 AP.
12 * 250 = 3,000/10 = 300.
6,375 + 300 = 6,675 gold. Phew.
I know this may be a lot to figure out and if you don't want to, you don't have to. You may simply elect to stay with your current gold amount with all gold moving forward earned based on the new system. However, if you feel you are owed gold, you must take the time to provide a breakdown such as I have and post it in this thread for review. Remember, if you have more gold than your level/word count says you should, you will not lose or gain gold during this transition.
For all upcoming AP claims - posts made prior to the official launch of this change (April 13, 2016) will not be included in the calculation for the new gold formula. When you claim your gold, please only include posts made after this date since it will be accounted for by claiming in this thread, as I have done above in my example.
Please, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, voice them in a polite and constructive way either here or via PM as soon as possible. This system has not officially launched but will be very soon unless a significant flaw or issue is brought forward. In the event that a loophole, glitch or other concern is brought forth or realized, this update could be suspended.
Estimated Time to Launch: Approx. 48 hours (Tuesday, April 12, 2016 or Wednesday, April 13, 2016).
This thread will be updated to announce the official launch.
UPDATE: This change has launched! All posts made prior to April 13, 2016 (EST) received the 50 gold. All posts made after this must claim the gold during the AP claiming process.
