[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]BLACKCOAT [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Gilliam Layman [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 24 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Sapiosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: dong hwi ju, NINETEEN, TWENTY-ONE [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Murdoc [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] Save for the Half-Alv quirk of having a tongue sigil, Blackcoat looks identical to his real-life appearance, give or take a few scars. Okay, maybe he added an inch to his height. Gilliam is quite the unassuming man, featuring a very lackluster and standard appearance of dark, black hair and fair skin matched only by his candy-chocolate eyes. Blackcoat is often taunted for his sleepy demeanor. He's usually featuring a light squint, baggy eyes and generally lull about him. He often walks wide legged, as if upon the cloud of many pillows. He slouches a bit - obviously not good for him, but he cares not - and his hands can find themselves in his pockets at most hours of the day. Blackcoat often steeples his hands when talking, propping both elbows onto whatever he can find - even if its his own knees. He's known to have an airy, almost dreamlike tone, although he can drop this to adopt a more serious, albeit still whimsical, voice. His Half-Alv nature grants him this as a sigil. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Blackcoat blends in, plain and simple. His modesty often leads him to get overshadowed by the more dominant of the human population, and his eagerness to please and urgency to help keeps him at the beck and call of those that need him. Blackcoat is more than willing to go the distance to help others. His general eagerness to help comes from his dear father, in a way; his dad was willing to cheat and lie to every woman he met and do what he could before dumping them to the side. Gilliam built himself in reaction to this behavior, willing to mend the wounds dealt out by father. He became eager to help and bring a smile where he saw he could, especially if it was in the wake of the man who he looked identical to. This hasn't left him all smiles and bows. Gilliam has grown a bit inward and wary of people in fear of turning into one of the cast off and used, and while he's unaware of it himself he has social anxiety. If he's put into a situation where he's unable to help, he'll lock up and become unable to proceed until put to rest on the matter. He doesn't do well in small crowds where he can be individually noticed, preffering either the solitude of himself or a few known friends, or the large scale hiding a crowd offers. Gill is an old-school romantic. He's a firm believer in the powers of poetry and flowers, and he has taken to the idea that if he's to find someone to spend personal time with he's gotta earn it through a smile and a polite tongue. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Gilliam Layman comes from humble beginnings. He's, quite frankly, nothing special in terms of genetic background. His father's side probably has some German in it somewhere, but he was still born in the land of the queen and tea, where his father resides. Dear old dad managed to stay with his mom until he was around the age of five, upon which he took a bottle of scotch and a big coat and hit the road. Gill lived alone with his mom for the time being, until she grew ill and there was nothing they could really do for her. She managed to make it just past his eleventh birthday before she passed, and before Gill could be tossed around into child services his dad showed up once more to take him. Living with his elder wasn't so bad. Dad bought him stuff and kept him pacified, and he was able to stick to his current school system. The biggest draw was that he got his first computer system, and with a hop skip and a jump, he found his first MMO. That was where he found his first bit of escapism, in which he could adapt and become another person. He never really got into the games themselves; if the level cap was fifty he was probably always around level twenty. He generally roleplayed his own role and character in the chat servers, and made a few notable friends during his escapades. He practically made a business of hopping around from MMO to MMO with those friends. Life moved on, he graduated and found himself unable to attend university due to needing a job to help dear old dad pay the rent. One day, his friends coerced him into nabbing a copy of Elder Tales in anticipation of both a new expansion and a new server. He was all booted up and ready when the unexpected happened... Although it grants a very high amount of HP, it is known for its long casting time and poor mana efficiency compared to other healing skills, barrier skills and reactive activation skills, thus putting this on low priority amongst Cleric skills. Beginners often look at Clerics based on how much HP this skill heals, causing some to be called second-rate or third-rate healers. That said, truly useless healers are out of the question, since most healers are at least competent in using restorative magic. When this skill is used, the caster is surrounded by a hazy warm light, and the chosen target is showered down with particles of light. [attr="class","skill"]Healing Light: Tier I Skill Heals injuries by shooting a white light with a hexagram shape from one's fingertips. The amount of HP it heals is small compared to Heal, but it generates minimal Hate and only consumes a small amount of MP, as well as having short casting and cooldown times. It can be used to heal minor wounds and emergency healing, and is often used alongside primary restoration spells to supplement one's healing capabilities. In large-scale battles where many Clerics are organized, Healing Light can be "showered" on a single tank. Because of its utility, players regardless of level are dependent on the use of this skill. Among its popular nicknames are "Do Your Best Heal" and "Crossroad Heal". [attr="class","skill"]Reactive Heal: Tier I Skill The Cleric's starting restorative skill and regarded as the Cleric's signature skill. Unlike Heal that immediately restores hit points at once, Reactive Heal requires the target to receive damage to trigger this skill's effect. Reactive Heal's effectiveness in combat relies on the caster's level and the level of the skill itself, but it does not require the Cleric to focus on a single ally like in Heal, allowing the "Heal Walk" tactic to be employed. When activated, the ally becomes wrapped with a warm orange light as a visual effect. [attr="class","skill"]Resurrection: Tier I Skill A fundamental resurrection magic for low level healing classes. A Player is transported to a nearby Cathedral when its HP becomes 0, but can be revived before this could happen. Resurrection has a long casting time, consumes a lot of MP, and the target must not make contact with anything else during casting, making this skill very difficult to use during combat. Aside from this, it shares cooldown times with superior resurrection skills, narrowing down its usefulness in battle even more, causing many players to refrain from using this skill. [attr="class","skill"]Cure: Tier I Skill A basic cure magic that removes negative status effects from a single ally. It consumes little MP and has the ability to remove negative status effects regardless of type, but higher skill ranks allow shorter casting times for this skill. Its effect is a pale blue light similar to that of Heal. The effectiveness of its cure effect may vary based on the level of the skill and the gap between the level of the user and the level of the monster which gave the status effect. [attr="class","skill"]Iron Stomach: Not even food poisoning can stop a dedicated chef! Chefs are immune to status debuffs caused by drinks and food. They also recover from sickness status effects twice as quickly. [attr="class","skill"]Picnic: One of the joys of cooking is the ability to share it with others. When this skill is toggled and the Chef summons a food item, it is duplicated among all party members. Duplicated food items share the same effect, but disappear after a minute if not eaten before then. This skill has a cooldown time of 30 seconds after each activation. [attr="class","skill"]Busybody: The housekeeper can produce Level 1-5 items as though they were a Chef, Tailor, or Woodcrafter. If the housekeeper's crafting subclass is one of these classes, then they are able to craft items 5 levels higher than their crafting class's level. [attr="class","skill"]Call of Home: A skill learnable by any class. Upon use, it will teleport the character back to the character's 'home city.' This is designated by using the skill while in the city of question. It has a cooldown time of one hour per use. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Windsor Antiqua Cloth Armor - Lv5 cloth armor. A decently woven garment that allows the best mobility but weakest defense. It is a mass-produced generic armor created by the People of the Land, and so is a little more expensive to buy than if one were to normally craft a similar-quality armor. [attr="class","skill"]Left Hand: Description [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Crook of Frailty! [L 10]: Despite looking like and being a rather bland looking staff for clerics, this stave is one said to have been used by Viceroy Bubbles Von Salamancer! Maybe that'll make you more confident or something. If you didn't know that someone just made this for you and therefore the legends are obviously false. That said, the magician's stave has a curled top that rotates in a circle and curls in on itself. It almost seems like it'd be better to use this for necromancy, but the weapon can't really be truly identified one way or another. You guess it's useful. You guess. [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#1: Apocrypha Souvenir Necklace - Lv8 accessory. A necklace that depicts a small charm of the Apocrypha guild emblem, which appears as a hybrid between an overlapping red sun and blue moon. It glows with a faint light when healing skills are channeled through the wearer's body. Supposedly the commission and possession of this item is a symbol of good faith between guilds. It increases the base healing potency of the wearer's Reactive Heal skill by 2 levels. [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#2: Description [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#3: Description [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#4: Description [attr="class","h3"]Inventory (DO NOT EDIT THIS SECTION) [attr="class","b2"]Starter Staff: A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap wood. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. Starter Platemail: A basic set of plate armor made from cheap iron. They are not really too protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. Red Wine: A violet red wine known for its health benefits. It supposedly has health benefits, namely for the heart, and can be enjoyed with a meal or used as an ingredient for cooking. Drinking this drink provides a slight HP restoration. Can be used as a crafting material for both Chefs and Brewers. If this item is used in a craft, the resulting crafted item's HP restoration effect is doubled. This effect does not stack or carry over. Rock Candy: Lv10 Sweet Confection. Chef Blackcoat discovered a way to turn sugar into rock candy, a simple treat that is bad for your teeth. If you can even get cavities in this world. Eating the rock candy increases your mana regeneration by a minor amount. Be careful of eating too much, lest you spoil your supper. The rock candy can be flavored and colored depending on the chef in question. Regenerating Moon Cake: An odd red box containing a Moon Cake, a sweet pastry consisting of bean paste and egg yolks. Eating this cake slightly restores HP and raises the character's stats by a small amount for the next 10 minutes. Strangely enough, no matter how much cake you eat, another one will appear in the box after a full day. |
