This... could have gone better. Shuwen thought, scratching his head awkwardly. He'd gone out into Windsor Forest that day in order to experiment and expand his ever-increasing repertoire of recipes. However, this one didn't seem to have ended well. After hunting down several pitted boar, he'd cut up the meat and placed them on metal skewers along with assorted vegetables. The recipe's relatively simplicity meant it would probably be easy to remember and prepare, or so the monk had believed.
Unfortunately, the end result was more so-so then he'd expected. While there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the recipe itself, the portable stove he'd had that mechanic make for him was less-then adequate for making this kind of dish. It heated and cooked the food via a small element. Great for heating less-then-solid dishes that were held in a container such as a pot or pan, but that wouldn't work for kababs, which were meant to be cooked over a grill or open flame. As result, they took far longer to cook then he expected, and as a direct result, his attention to them wavered. The result of that? He forgot to turn them when he needed to, and the heat was badly distributed. One side was fairly cool and thought it had been cooked adequately, while the other was almost completely charred black.
Uuuuuugh. He thought as he bit into the first kabab. It was certainly edible, and the parts that had been cooked the right amount tasted just fine. The parts that he'd burnt were another story entirely. I hate to waste food, but... taking a knife back out, he began to cut away the bits that had been too badly charred to eat properly.
At that point, Shuwen was more-or-less completely engrossed in the task at hand. Fortunately, he was sufficiently high-leveled that most of the monsters in the area wouldn't casually approach him, and they seemed to dislike the smell of cooking food, so they rarely bothered him while he was cooking and eating. Good for him, because Shuwen's awareness of his surroundings was somewhat lacking, especially for an adventurer out in the field.

Food! Scroll within the box As the sun stood high above the land, a quiet breeze went past the clearing in which the Guardian slept in. As he had himself entangled in his vine haddock, drooling in his sleep, a drop of water from the above hanging leaves, fell upon his smooth, innocent-looking face. The water split between both eyes, waking Sayinh in a still peaceful, drowsy state. His left leg was, from the knee down, numb because of blood need. A dazzling scent of leaves, moss and, all in all, pure nature. However, that wasn’t the only thing, wavering in the air… Another smell broke through the peaceful fragrance of the forest.
A rough smell of meat hung tightly to the breeze, cutting through the air. A couple of seconds passed before Sayinh caught himself drooling, as his stomach growled. - Food, I wonder who it is -, he thought, as he got out of his ‘bed’. Equipping clothing, or his armor rather, was an easy task, thanks to “Quick swap”, so he was on his way as soon as he landed on the ground. He left the clearing, running between trees, bushes and various mobs spawning. He stumbled over a stone in the ground, but the combinations of quick reactions and Dorian’s “Combat Dancing” allowed him to perform a smooth somersault to get back on his feet. A vague light, looking as if coming from a flame, slowly arising from behind a couple of trees. The trees was standing rather close to each other, allowing only a slither of light to pass through.
A male monk sat, cross-legged, gnawing into a kebab, staring deeply into the fire. A vague charred smell floated around the area, and a bit of black powder was piled up in the grass. “Would you mind if I join you?”, the Guardian asked, before leaning towards a tree right behind him. Words: 328 Shuwen's concentration was broken by the arrival of another player. As he was focused on his cooking, he didn't even notice until sayinh called out to him "Dawahuh?!" He mumbled allowed, turning himself so he was facing the source of the noise. Unfortunately, he spun around a little too quickly and spent several seconds trying to regain his balance, his arms failing unceremoniously until he succeeded. Shuwen sighed inwardly. He wasn't particularly surprised that someone was lured to him by the smell of his cooking. If he had been the type to engage in pvp, he'd probably make a killing (metaphorical and literal) by using it as bait. Alas, he had no interest in such things, and under the circumstances, it was a tad annoying. He hadn't been trying to lure people in, and even if he was, this wasn't exactly the sort of cooking he was happy to share with other people just yet. On the other hand, after eating so much tasteless food, perhaps the newcomer couldn't tell the difference. It also meant he wouldn't have to eat all the less-then-stellar kebabs by himself. "Sure, go ahead." Pulling another unevenly cooked kebab off of the fire, he skipped over and dropped it into the guardian's hands. Hopefully Sayinh would adapt to the situation quickly enough to grab ahold of it. After doing so, the monk would head back towards the fire and polish off the half-eaten kebab he'd been munching on when the guardian arrived. "So what brings you here?" He asked, more interested in breaking the silence then in whatever the newcomer responded with. "I mean, I'm guessing you're here specifically because you smelled the food; it happens kind of often. But what brings you to Windsor? Grinding?" He was going to continue listing other possible reasons that the guardian would be outdoors, but he realized he was rambling and promptly quieted himself. People tended to stop listening to him when he talked too much.

Sitting and chatting Scroll within the box The Guardians question seemed to have startled the monk, though Sayinh thought he had heard him. He used a couple of seconds to recover before allowing the Guardian to join him. Sayinh placed himself by the fire, where ashes and tiny pieces of wood, still on fire flew up. The monk reached in to grab another kebab and dropped the skewer in front of the Guardian, who opened his hand to catch it. As he examined it a bit closer, he discovered how some parts had gotten too much, and was slightly charred. Whilst the others hadn’t sustained any damage, and looked just fine. He took the first bite, and felt a tranquilizing sensation. The feeling of biting into meat, that had taste for once, was wonderful! It was the first- in a long time, that he had had meat with taste… Or just food with taste in general. Even the vegetables were great, not that he had ever had anything against them. - They’ve always been good to me and my body, the ones saying vegetables are nasty and won’t eat them, are bringing upon themselves not to eat these delicious crops. -, he thought, studying the combinations of vegetables and meat. “Whel, oi kinda live here’”, his mouth was stuffed, but never had he been more indifferent. He finished his mouthful before speaking again. “I have inhabited the clearing that lies in the outskirts of the forest. Though, I’ve been thinking of moving back to the Guild when it becomes colder”, he took another bite from the kebab. “How’s the pork seasoned? What herbs are you using?”, he asked. The Guardian still had a watery mouth, even though he had already dug into the food. “How about you? What are you doing out here… beside hunting down boars and grilling them?”, the Guardian asked. Words: 505 "What do you mean you live here?" Shuwen asked, involuntary glancing around. Windsor Greatwood was, quite frankly, not a practical place to live. Monsters were everywhere, the location wasn't very convenient, and building a house out there was much easier said then done. "Don't tell me you've been camping out here or something?" Such a feat wasn't impossible, even for someone like Shu, but only because he had appropriate equipment, and was sufficiently high leveled. For someone in sayinh 's circumstances to do the same was... surprising. Though didn't he say something about a guild? Why was he out here if he had a guild to come back to? It was certainly odd, to say the least. Further conversation was briefly stifled when the guardian took another big bite of food. His overly emotional reaction to the food did, in fact, indicate he'd been away from civilization for some time. Sayinh began to ask him about what he'd done to prepare it. Shuwen was a little puzzled by the question, but he tried to answer as best as he could. "Herbs? I used Rosemary, Sage, and Fennel." Fortunately, his knowledge of herbs when it came to using them in cooking was coming along nicely, although he still considered himself a rank amateur. "Um, I only used pepper to season it. As for how I cooked it, well, see for yourself." He moved to one side so Sayinh could see more clearly. He had several of the skewers on a improvised rack, holding them a short distance above his portable stove. Sayinh proceeded to ask him what he was doing out there. "Well, just that. This is my first time making pork kebabs. The meat is pretty easy to get my hands on out here, so I wanted to get used to cooking it." Noticing how quickly the guardian finished off the first kebab, Shuwen quickly handed him another one. He could probably make more without too much effort, and he'd already had enough that he was in no danger of going hungry, so it wasn't really a big deal if the newcomer ended up eating most of them. "Oi, don't tell me this is really your first time eating real food since the apocolypse." He said, commenting on the guardian's reactions. "Anyone with a sufficiently leveled "chef" subclass can do this as long as they can prepare it by hand."As it had been quite some time since the apocalypse, he'd thought that was pretty much common knowledge. Had the person he was talking to been so isolated that they hadn't learned this? This is going to leave me with a serious headache, isn't it? He thought miserably. If that was the case, what other basic pieces of information was he going to have to teach him before he was up to speed? Would he have to teach him how to use skills without using the command menu too? Shu didn't consider himself a selfish guy, but it wasn't something he was really looking forward too.
