It wasn't long since Evelyn left the city. In the city outskirts she found a lone trader which gave her the first quest. The requirements were rather simple. Get into the Windsor Greatwood area and hunt some boars for their leather and meat. Simple enough and it went along well with her own objectives. To find out more about the fighting system in this game. Since Evelyn was more of a night person, she scouted how did the other's do this already. Most of them shouted the name of the skills they were going to use, but some... were using them intuitively. That was something she wanted to achieve as soon as possible. She had only few skills, granted either by her basic class, or by her selection at the start. If she mastered them she would certainly get a fast enough start to catch up with others.
As she reached the edge of the forest she leaned against one of the Windsor trees, mighty large oaks which filled the area. She already adjusted the equipment she got, part of the metal armour hidden under an old tattered cloak. "Hmpf, better than nothing." She mumbled to herself as she finished adjustments of the platemail, looking over to her crossbow. It was a sturdy wooden weapon, but the string was a bit loose. The same with Katana, the cheap metal and blunt edge being self explanatory. Slowly Evelyn crouched, sneaking towards the forest silently, her subclass skill - [Sneak] - activating. With a light smile Evelyn spotted a small group of boars. Well, let's get started. She thought to herself, climbing on a nearby tree, standing on a sturdy tree branch. Evelyn closed her golden eyes, thinking about what she wanted to appear. It was one of the basic skills, [Summon Shikigami], which she was attempt to use. After a moment of focusing, a fox tail figure appearing besides her on another branch of the tree. The fox tail looked similarly to Evelyn, bearing less scars and smiling calmly, bearing a katana as well. Evelyn pointed over to the boars silently, the shikigami nodding in response. Slowly Evelyn aimed her crossbow with her left hand, aiming on the biggest boar. "Oh Lord, please forgive the sinners." She mumbled to herself before pressing the lever of the crossbow, the bolt launched towards the boar.
Ffffft...scht.
The bolt flew through the air with a whistling sound, hitting the boar right in the neck. The creature released angry sounds, snorting angrily, the small group of boars rushing towards Evelyn's tree. With a slight smirk Evelyn waited, counting in her mind. One... two... four boars. Level three, two, one and six. This will be interesting. Evelyn thought. As the first, strongest, but also the hurt one, boar reached the tree, Evelyn jumped off it, striking the tip of her Katana right behind its head. The HP of the boar dropped fast to zero from this strike, even when it squirmed for a fair amount of time before it dispersed into xp baubles and the loot. The Shikigami which she summoned intercepted the other Boars in a defensive stance, catching their attention with light strikes while retreating, buying Evelyn some time. Still on one knee, Evelyn reloaded the crossbow, taking aim again and shooting, the bolt hitting hard one of the younger boars, the enraged beast rushing towards her. Evelyn simply dropped the crossbow on the ground, raising her palm. A barrier appeared right in front of the boar. [Damage Interception] was basic skill of a Shaman, either way though an useful one. Taking the crossbow in one hand, holding Katana in other, she rushed towards the beast, finishing it off with strike of her blade. Two more to go. The blonde fox tail thought as she walked towards the other two, just to appear right behind them, apricot flower petals left behind. The [Leaping Apricot Technique] was another technique she wanted to try out. This leap allowed her to attack one of the boars fast, managing to finish it off with two rapid strikes of her sword. Now you. She thought, but the last boar already charged her, hitting her leg rather painfully. With a groan of pain Evelyn kicked it in the side before stabbing it with her sword, following with a crossbow shot right in its neck, finishing it off.
