do it like a brother, do it like a dude,
A part of Cocktail was almost wondering if she was going to become more like her brother and her father: attached to the forge at the hip and reluctant to leave when it didn’t relate to her. Waving a hand, she decided that she didn’t really care if she was or not, instead kicking her heels out and humming to herself as she made use of an unattended furnace in a quiet part of London – her usual place in Saint Pancras Station had been in use, and while usually she wouldn’t care and just chase the person away, she wasn’t in a mood to cause trouble right now. Instead, she giggled to herself, having quite a bit of fun running around the city looking for a new base of operations, and she wriggled her behind, humming and skipping until she paused and saw the furnace in the house, something that had made her whoop, the action causing her feet to lift right up off the ground before she touched down again, the girl more than a little hyperactive with the prospect of getting to play with metal again, and possibly make something else to impress her brother when they finally connected. He’d always said that she could never make anything on her own, and yet she’d managed to do just fine on her own! She had even managed to make a pair of chains, though what she had wasn’t very high quality, and she might recraft them later to give them a buff before she attached them to her weapons. But that was something she would pay attention to at a later time. Humming to herself, she expertly set about bustling around the furnace, finding where the owner had hung a flint and steel up on the side and grabbing it so that she could light the furnace once more, her tune picking up as she slowly coaxed the flames up to a nice bright burn. She then got it roaring nice and loudly, and that was when she added in the coal, letting it burn down a little just the way that her brother had taught her to before she even reached to start bringing out the metal, wanting to work on bringing up the heat hotter so that she could try to get better quality out of the weapons that she used. Of course, that wasn’t something that was particularly hard either; she had much better ore than she had before, and that was something that would make a huge difference in her crafting, never mind that she had slightly better coal too. Oh yes, she could just see that everything was going to be better this time around, far better than it was when she had just been relying on her own skills and basic materials to make her first chains, though they were still something she took pride in, the same way that an architect would always have a soft spot for the first building he had designed or a business owner the first dollar that he had ever owned. It was a matter of principle, the fact that she had overcome all the odds, and that wasn’t something she was going to give up. Not now and not ever. |
